Dropped my Atrix before i got me a casing for it.
I want to know how is the quality of the replacements glass wise is it still gorilla glass or?
I got my screen replaced at youbreak Ifix. The screen is identical, just be careful that it gets seated well or you will get a lot of dust under the screen..drives me crazy!

If you haven't already bought one take a look at this at ebay,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Motorol...052?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cc340bee4 .
It is the digitizer and frame assembly. I just bought one of these for mine and I gotta say that I could not be any happier. For one it is OEM. Another I didn't have to seperate the frame from the glass or mess with glue tape. It is a b!tch connecting the ribbon cable back to the mainboard. But other than that it is an easy repair.
Oh, it looks absolutely brand spankin' new.
i replaced my digitizer with a part i got from amazon, big mistake, it was so much worse, looked identical but was just aweful, luckily moto replaced it for free as now i didnt have a broken screen it was still under warranty! good as new now.
edit: also looking at that post above, if you are going to do it yourself having it come with the frame would be great as mine didnt, so i had to use a hairdrier to heat up the glue holding the digitizer to the frame, real PITA
Yeah you're right ears1991, it was nice and easy not having to worry with separating the glass from the frame and then reattaching the new one. My phone looks better than ever. On the very first day that I ever owned it I handed it to my 24 year old son and he immediately dropped it. It put a nice gouge it the glass so until now I have never really had an Atrix that looked new.

DONT USE REPAIR UNIVERSE! Horrible customer service, no phone support, slow ass shipping even tho I paid extra for next day (got it in same time as regular shipping) and gave me the run around when they sent me a defective digitizer first time. Took me nearly a month from order to get what i paid for and only after I threatened to notify BBB of their horrible service.

I watched this video and only needed a small phillips screwdriver and a prytool. I haven't found a video where they show it going back together... Just reverse the steps and you'll be ok. The only hard part was getting one of the ribbon cables back in place. And I gotta say that cable was a b!tch. But I have large fingers and I still got it. So if you have some degree of patience and aren't afraid of messing with tiny stuff go for it.
thanks a lot. i just ordered from the person you suggested from eBay. ill give an update when it comes on Thursday and I replace it.
Cool, I just took my daughters apart, it is dead. I thought that maybe if I disconnected and reconnected the mainboard that maybe it would help. No dice. But I did find that using a pair of locking forceps helped a lot with the cables. Actually it was really, really easy. So if you have a pair, or know someone who works at a hospital that can get a pair, it is worth the trouble. Good Luck.
i just fixed, worked like a charm. and you were right, those damn ribbon cables were a pain. i can finally type regular letters again. lol.
That's great. Was yours pretty much new looking? Mine looks great, there are two tiny dimples on the upper bezel but they aren't easy to see. It's still a 9/10.
Hello all,
Got my S3 a couple of weeks ago and dropped it onto a wood floor on Friday with no case on it (been waiting for mine to arrive from Amazon ). The device seems to be absolutely fine apart from a very small scratch on the top left of the screen. I've been trying to live with it but it's really annoying me and would be more than happy to pay to get it fixed if it doesn't cost absolutely silly money.
Is it possible just to have just the glass replaced or will I have to shell out for the glass and the digitiser etc as well? Has anyone else had their S3 screen repaired?
Thanks
Replacing the S3 screens are pricey, I'd stick with the scratch until you do some serious damage.
It is inevitable the phone will get scratched at one point so I find it hard to believe someone would pay to have a whole screen replaced based on one scratch, you must be crazy!
If the scratch is that annoying get a decent screen protector and you won't be able to see it.
It would be very expensive. The front plate, digitizer, and amoled screen are bonded in one piece and the assembly is sold at ~US$200 in Ebay.
check out this thread .... its a must read for all s3 users with damaged glass ...

I'm not sure, it looks like the front plate and the digitizer are totally inseparable http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es8gezSdKv4.
Good luck to OP anyway.

Just read, and see that you are about to do the same. Good luck to you as well.
Yet I think the person in the video didn't peel off just the glass but the glass together with the digitizer, which is slightly tinted as seen in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es8gezSdKv4.
The cheapest and best solution is to use a mirror screen protector. It will hide your scratch when phone is off.
When Screen on you will not notice it.
I'm sure I have read a thread where someone got it replaced at car phone warehouse for £80ish, not sure how true that is as it does seem very cheap for the job. Worst you can do is ring them and ask for a quote and them tell you this ain't true.
I have insurance which would cost me £25 excess through my bank so not really looked into costs of getting things replaced, but I have taken apart a lot of phones in the past and they are getting much harder to replace things like glass on its own. As said above it would have to have digitizer, which is pretty costly to purchase.

you can buy the unit for £150 and follow a youtube video on how to replace, or pay between £175-£225 for a full repair.
I took mine to a Samsung repair centre on a Saturday and had it fixed within 30min, paid £215 but just wanted it done.
The glass and the digiizer are glued together so the whole unit would have to be changed.

Hi
If the screen still functions and the touch is working properly you can just change the glass face but you will have to be real careful as doing it yourself without the right equipment is risky and you can end up without a screen working at all. the whole screen that is currently on the phone will be completely sealed to the phone so it is a slow process to remove it and you can end up pulling the digitizer off the lcd and again this is not fixable if this happens.
also the finish will not be as good as the original without the right type of liquid glue to go back between the glass and digitizer.
at the end of the day you are better off sending it to someone who does it a lot and has all of the gear to do it, as you will get a better finish at the end.
Mod edit: Removed..
So on my way from the car to the train station this morning, I managed to drop my phone on the ground.. I've dropped it a couple of times before, and nothing had ever happened.. but this time as soon as I dropped it I knew I wasn't getting that lucky this time. Maybe its the freezing temperatures, I don't know.. but my screen now has massive spiderwebbing in two of the corners, and cracks running all over the screen. The last day to do returns for the holidays (which is when I bought it) was January 15. I also didn't get insurance.. am I screwed? :/
I have seen operable cracked screen DNA's go for about $300-400 on eBay. In the long run you could do that and then buy one second hand without a cracked screen for about $450-$500, so in reality a $100 screen replacement
You could also have a shot yourself here. The internals don't look very hard to be honest
You can get some ideas here also
Contact a HTC repair centre first and maybe it works out cheaper?
Good luck

Thanks for the information! I'm not sure how much I trust myself taking apart my phone, but I may not have another choice. HTC RMA is asking $220, and it would take 7-10 business days (not including shipping).. I may potentially buy the screen shown in your link and try to do it myself. Although it says "Digitizer Touch Screen", it would only be the glass I'd be replacing, correct? The capacitive layer is still working perfectly fine, so I don't want to mess with that..

It would be the entire assembly you're replacing, it all comes as one unit rather than the glass and digitizer separately. From what I've seen from the pictures of the disassembled DNA, it doesn't LOOK as though it would be terribly difficult.

My thoughts exactly. Just make sure all of the cables are the correct length on the eBay items. (I have received 2 screens for 2 different models that had short flex cables) and I tried to force one of them and it snapped, the other one the guy said they were all the same so he refunded me. You could check if any other eBay users that have purchased them have left positive feedback too.
It would be awesome if genuine dealers were entitled to sell the screens but they are OEM and only to be installed by a qualified repair centre. LAME HUH!
However, DNA looks pretty basic and you could always post pictures of your progress and get some help from us guys if you get stuck Good luck guy
My phone has developed a digitizer problem in that a vertical strip (approx 15mm) is completely unresponsive, and sometimes the screen goes a bit haywire (continously zooms in when web browsing or in a document). Have tried resetting the phone, and reflashing the ROM, but the problem persists.
Does anyone have any experience when with regards to replacing the digitizer, and would like to share their experiences? I.e. Is there anything which I should be made aware of, such as specific rookie errors? Have looked up some Youtube videos, so I think I'm fairly clued up, but thought I'd call in on the experts before I take the plunge!

They look nice the zenfone that is will have to buy a sd card for it down side no internal memory or atleast none you can use. besides that actually looks very nice. wonder how long before you can buy one right now it says ask dealer about availability so im guessing 3 to 6 months. digitizer $15.00 and then he can sell phone for $50 to $75 dollars if he chooses to later once it finally hits stores
Yeah, but with sd cards being inexpensive (I just got a 8gb class 4 microsd for $50, about U$S10) it isn't really a downside. If you maage to get an replacement for the digitizer, buy it. as overboard says, you can sell the phone at a higher price if you decide to buy another.
OP, I had the same problem, I warn you, once you detach the digitizer from the phone, before you actually remove it, dettach the lcd also, that way, when you must remove the flex and pass it through, the gap will be larger and you wont have to bend the flex, avoiding the risk of damaging it. Digitizer and lcd are meant to be extracted together. Also, be very careful when you detach the digitizer, as dointg it hard can remove the glue strips and let the dust enter the screen. that's what happened to mine, glue strips got broken at the bottom corners, and now the capacitive buttons' light pass thru it, to the screen and dust enters and I can't see sh*t
Thanks guys. From what I've read, most people appear to experience problems either during or after the upgrade, so even though a replacement digitizer should only set me back £15, it could be more hassle that it's worth...
This could be a good opportunity to upgrade
As the title says would love to get a confirmed oem or close to one at least, any links would be helpful!
My device is a d855.
TIA
Did you check on eBay?
looking for the same. all i can find on ebay seem to be generic ones. about a year ago i did buy one from ebay, lasted about two months and then it stopped working. since then the phone has been in a drawer just sitting there. i would love to fix it and get it back working. really loved this phone.

I managed to break my g3 screen and need replacement.
Have you receive it? I want buy from mobilepartskoria but I just worry about UK import duty.
Yes, I received it in Paris a few days ago.
Two weeks from Korea to France.
No import duty.
It works fine, very clean (grade A++ as mentionned) et all small parts were included and work fine.
Do not buy parts from FixEz.com they sell substandard parts and claim OEM Dont even have gorilla glass on there screens
Try www.aliexpress.com
I was taking video in snowy day, and now my screen doesn't turn on. It rarely turns on and everything(+touch) works fine for a couple seconds, then it turns black.
What part do I need to buy? Do I need a screen digitizer?
I think there are some on ebay priced $10-15 which I think they're glass. Does it worth to buy it?
A good condition G3 itself costs about $100, so I don't think it worth to pay $37 for a good grade A screen.
Can I separate digitizer and LCD ? Edit: I just realized that the touch works, no matter the screen is black or not (when phone is unlocked). Because I connected it to my laptop using Vysor, and I can see the screen without problem on my windows.
I found these 3 items, which one do I need? Since my frame and touch doesn't have problem, just the screen is black or off.
