[Q] Issue with Nova Launcher and home button. - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My issue is that if i'm on my standard screen (or any other screen for that matter) and press the Home Button, apps and widgets disappear for a while and then reappear. Is it possible to fix this somehow?

Hmm i even sometimes get that with touchwiz.. it doesnt bother me..i think it is a ram memory issue

I don't see the same issue in Apex Launcher or when pressing the home button inside an app, only when i'm on one of the home screens! :/

I think that the touch Wiz launcher is still in the background..so you have 2 eat your memory...

Home button to first home screen?

Proberly a dumb question but is there a setting that will make my gs3s home button always send me to my FIRST home screen? Pressing home button from some apps or tasks sends me to the home screen I was previously on being sometimes my 2nd or 3rd home screen...... But I want the first one to show up!!!
press it again.
Yeah I know but I mean directly first time.... Any ideas?

If you're using touchwiz it sends you to your default home screen. If you're using a replacement launcher, just change your default home screen
U can install other Launchers like Apex Launcher.
Find it on Google Play.
Nope doesn't always send me to my default depending on what home screen i was on. I tried go launcher but does the same problem! I guess I'll just have to press home twice if there's no specific setting

Try to use another launcher, like nova launcher, it can lock the changes on the homescreen in the nova settings

Nova launcher is annoying!

I found a really annoying issue with nova launcher. I've tested it on 2 S4's and even my note 2. Mostly affects the S4's though. Sometimes I notice something causes my home button to respond slower than it should(s voice disabled). It annoys me. I found out that it only slows down after I go into the app drawer. I can open 15 apps, play music etc and the home button response doesn't slow at all but once I open the app drawer and exit out of it the home button starts to lag.
Not only that but get this. If you have a transparent notification bar, if you go into your app drawer and hit the home button the transparency goes away. You have to open an app and hit the home button for it to return. Also sometimes I'll be in an app and I'll hit the home button to my home screen and there will randomly be like this blue square around one of my app icons or around an entire folder. Weird?

Heres what I'm talking about. That blue square thing. I couldn't take a screen shot of it bcuz the second you touch your screen it disappears.

^ you might get more support/help if you post it in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389071
OK I posted it in there too. Thanks dude! Didn't know that thread existed. Took me forever to find out what was causing the home button lag.

Weird. I've been running Nova on my phone out of the box, and no issues here.

I ran nova with no issues, but enjoy the speed of apex more.

I'm having no Nova issues. But I didn't take the OTA!
When it comes to launchers I favor adw launcher ex, during my droid x days all I used was go launcher tho. Adw is Really quick and I dont think ive ever ran into any major bugs.

Does the "OK Google" command work for you? Does touching and holding ur finger pop out the ability to change wallpaper and add widgets come out? If it does, when you try to change wallpaper does it crash?
Just a few issues I had on mine. LG spoiled me with the customizations.

Some widgets are being shown that are not installed but others work fine. Adding a wallpaper by holding down and selecting wallpaper is broken had to by using gallery. OK Google spoken command does work thanks to the snapdragon 800 but Google search crashes :/
The icons are GIGANTIC.
It hurts my eyes and I feel like Google thinks were all blind.

If your "OK Google" is not working... Try this.
Go into Now setting
, then Voice Settings. Go to "Offline Speech Recognition" and then either redownload or update your language. I did this and it works flawlessly now.

How do I shut this OFF, I mean COMPLETELY OFF... I do NOT want my phone listening to me all the time.
Knock on Dead
I set this up quickly, but then killed it because it disabled knock on. Also the nav bar was still the LG one so it kind of looked weird to me. And yes the icons were garrishly large. I liked the 5x5 grid on the stock launcher and this made me feel like I was using a Fischer Price launcher with the huge buttons. The killing blow for me was that I could not switch easily back to stock launcher and had to uninstall the new 4.4 launcher.
if it could work with Knock on, I might give it another go. (unless I was doing something wrong and there s a way to make it work.)

to get nexus 5 camera, and launcher + many other nexus 5 apps. Unfortunately camera only goes up to 8 Mpix and the buttons are mostly obscured by the soft keys, but it is still usable. But it does have photo sphere. Experiment by pressing just above the soft keys to activate functions and learn how to use it since the actual icons are blocked.
Enjoy

Knock on isn't disabled by a launcher. It still works. But to knock off the screen you have to taps twice in the status bar.

If you long press in the middle of the screen you get the options to pop up as well.
So, can "OK google" be installed by itself? Or does it require apks other than google search? What I'm curious about is, does it fully integrate with calender, etc.?And for those that did install it, how is the battery with it on? Can it be turned off, or does it require uninstall?
I have the launcher installed and the Google search and play services. But I cannot for the life of me get OK Google to work.

eh, it's still not a smooth, non-choppy launcher. idk why, but these stock android launchers still randomly get choppy when switching between pages, even if they're not filled with widgets or icons.

Use the fingerprint sensor as touch home button?

I'm tired of pressing home. I want to touch the fingerprint sensor of the s6 as home, not press.
Any pointers to find such an app?

I believe its hardware based so it's not easily changeable.

While we're at this is there any app which changes the Samsung back button to be on the left? I use the phone with my left hand so much prefer button on the left.
I hate Samsung way. If it weren't for the phone's performance I wouldn't have touched it with a 10 foot pole.

I never use the center button!
.I always use the "recent apps" and then "close all" to return to the home page!
