[Q] Light flares problem - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have really bad light flares with their s6 edge cameras? Here's two pictures I took at night in the same location; first one is without flash and the second has flash. My mode was on auto, I didn't mess with anything in the camera settings. Should I mess with the different options in Pro mode to lessen the flare? I don't think I have light flares this bad on my S4..

Camera problem on X10 mini pro

Hi! I have problem with build in camera. I getting constantly blured pictures in shadows, raining days or generally low light conditions. Especially in rooms with artificial lighting. Because it doesn't use flash but it uses obviously too slow shutter. Only way to prevent this problem is using sport mode but this mode disallow using flash so images are dark and noisy. This is really frustrating. Any ideas? Do You think there will be more info/controls in next version?

Its strange, because I never had any problem with camera, even in low light conditions or in artificial lighting it takes really nice pictures...
Mine too , workd fine all the time , try a full reset... might need to take it to the service center if that doesn;t work

[Q] Is there any way to lower the brightness of the LED flash when taking a picture?

So I was testing out my LGOG and when taking pictures with the flash from a fairly close range, I noticed that the flash is way overpowering. Either I have to take a picture without the flash and endure the low brightness and lots of artifacts, or else I have to take a picture with the flash on and the image I am trying to capture is just overwhelmed by the super bright flash. Sometimes the object I am trying to take a picture of is completely covered in the shine/reflection from the flash. I mean, it's great trying to take a picture outdoors at night or something, but in a low to medium lighted room indoors, it's way too powerful. So what I am wondering is if there is some way to reduce the power of the flash to like 1/2 the brightness? Or is that not possible and the LED can only run on one power setting. Thanks for any answers.

Few quiestions, HDR, Creative effect

Hello,
I bought sony Z2 few weeks ago. It's a nice phone, it's very smooth and I'm very pleased. But it overheats, not as much in 4K(which I don't use so no bother for me) but Creative effect just puts too much stress on a battery and the camera very quickly shuts off because temperatures of the battery go over 46 Celzis which is probably a treshold temperature. I hope sony will optimize their code in future firmware updates for Z2. I don't change phones often, this was a step up from first! HTC Desire(more than 4years ago) and I'm hoping to get a few years of from Z2. I did tried a bunch of roms on desire, but Z2 is gonna wait, it is so smooth and ofcourse because of the warranty. If they don't fix the overheating problem, next time I'll try samsung or go back to HTC if they manage to make a decent camera which they never did make in any of their models(purple tint, poor sharpness, whashed colors etc. I'll stop here, don't wanna turn this into a flame thread, just my couple of thoughts)
Also, what's with the HDR in manual mode - it says it takes two pictures, but it takes only one and the picture is the same as the picture I take with HDR mode off. I see no difference... Or maybe I'm doing something wrong with HDR?

It will take two pictures and then combine them into a single one. The two pictures have different exposure (one underexposed to get more detail in the shadows, one overexposed to get more detail in the highlights), and when they're combined, the result is a single image with greater dynamic range (that is, the range of brightness from dark to light) than a single photo could've captured. The greater dynamic range will sometimes make them look flat and one-dimensional, but with the right shot it can be a big improvement.
If you want to test it, look for a scene with very wide contrast from shadows to highlights. A good example would be a dimly-lit room with bright daylight outside the window. In a single exposure the room would be dark, the window completely white, or both. With an HDR exposure, you'll see more detail in the room and/or window.
Tnx for the info,I know how HDR works and what it does but I didn't see any difference in photos. I'll try more photos with more shadows in scenes.

Different brightness issue, washed out colours?

Had my s6e a week now and right from the start I've noticed an issue with the screen colours on full brightness.
When in bright light something happens that makes all the colours look washed out and slightly pink. I've never noticed this on my previous galaxy devices and it's really dissapointing
It seems to be related to the auto brightness glitch as it does this whether auto brightness is switched on or not. When in bright sunlight it switches into a mode where all the colours look faded and horrible. When I cover the front camera area or turn the brightness down it switches back to normal.
I've tried changing from adaptive to cinema mode etc and it seems to make no difference.
Has anyone else noticed the change in colours or have I just got a dud?
Sounds like the extreme brightness mode Samsung implemented on the Note 4. If so, that's how it's supposed to look in direct sunlight to make it easier to see.

Could be, looks awful tho :/
It does. I think the idea was to optimize contrast to make the screen visible at the expense of accuracy and saturation.
I'm having the same problem with my S7 Edge. Had it a week and then the colors just started to wash out on everything. All themes, all screens. Nothing fixes it. I hold it next to my S6 Edge with the same theme and the difference in colors is drastic. It looks terrible.

Question xperia 1 iv camera screen flicker

I have an Xperia 1 iv but whenever I use the camera on something that is quite close, the screen starts flickering and flashing a blueish colour.
Is this a fault?

Nah, that's rgb sensor measuring the distance or something.
Point another camera at your Xperia 's and you will see this thing glowing.

It's so irritating. Is there anyway to stop it? I find the flickering very uncomfortable to view.
I'm used to Samsung smartphones. Never come across this before.
It seems to take ages to take a photo compared to the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus I was used to. Why does it take so long?

Not sure how to disable this, as stock camera's autofocus is depending on this sensor. Google camera is not using this, but it's half broken, so I suggest to wait for devs to make a proper config, but I advice you not to bother, as this flickering is rgb sensor highlighting the environment while measuring the depth and it's only for half a second
to establish a proper focus.
As for long time to take a photo, I assume you are using basic mode and device may decide to either use a slow shutter speed or/and hdr based on the light conditions, hence the long time to make a shot.
Experiment with manual modes, phone is capable to take 20 photos per second.
Switch to S mode for example and put a high shutter speed, it will adjust the iso for you automatically if full manual mode is too much for you. This phone is like driving a manual car, no fancy AI to do the job for you like they have on Samsung. Might be challenging at first, but once you figure it out , you gonna make amazing photos.
If this is not related to settings, clear photo app's data and reboot the phone. I had this issue after experimenting with google camera, stock app was not saving photo at all.
