Hello guys I just wanted to share my knowledge in something related to the camera of our beastly phone and please share your thoughts as well I want to make sure because there are a lot of videos is showing something not real in the phone while comparing to others
OIS : is a hardware thing not a software and it can't be switched off or played with ... it's used in all the video qualities including the 4k ....
DIS : is a software process that is customizable with a switch one and off and used only for 1080p and 720p (30 fps )
He funny part the when u close the dis and the phone use only the ois the video become wobbly right ? and sharp movement but with he dis it's smooth video and some times it shakes really hard and cropped not like the normal video u shoot with the ois ...
If you have anything you would like to say or any video to compare please share...
I'm not sure if I'm right or wrong.

Never noticed this, since I rarely use my p500h camera. Today I recorded some small videos and took some photos. I noticed the image gets deformed if the phone is subject to some vibration, I recorded a sample where I moved the phone way more and well the effect is more evident now, is it normal behaviour for these kind of cameras?
Check the video to see what Im talking about:
youtube video

Post the link correctly. Can't see the video.
HERE IS THE LINK http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxntHjcIe2U
and it looks like to me you might just need to be a lil more carful when you take video cause i was able to duplicate what happened to your video with mine but i had to move the camera a lot like i was practicly shaking it and any camera will do that if you move it too much i have never had a problem with my video yea it can get shaky at times but its a none HD 3.2 mega pxel camera on a phone so i dont expect much what ROM are you running im not sure if it matters but i wondering ???
Why the photo resolution in Panoramic shoot mode is just 400 pixel?
It must be a mistake in some .ini file because even Samsung Wave S8500 with a less powerful HW can shoot panoramic photos at 800 pixels...
It's a shame Samsung haven't fixed this problem yet (official KI4, A2.3.5).

I absolutely agree. That was a disappointment to me when I realized the low res of the panoramic picture. I'm hoping that ICS will bring high res panorama picture taking by standard though..
Take a couple of high-res, max-res "normal" pics and stitch them together with PanoStudio (PC App).
You'll NEVER get panos like you get that way with any built-in panoramic feature, even the panofeature of my "real" photocam suxx compared to stitching normal shots with PanoStudio - not the mention the resolution you're gonna end up with
Just saying
Camera Panorama Issue - SGSII
Eventually Pano mode sucks in all modes in SGSII, when i compare pano's with Samsung jet the quality is far much better.
Although the picture seems good on the phone, it not the case when you look at it on a pc full view!
Attached there's a re-sized sample. You could clearly notice grains.
Don't know whether you have the same issue.
Out of curiosity I just tried the pano-mode of the S2.
OMG, what a bad quallity
Original Samsung software is excellent: is fast and attached pics are near perfection, and saved in standard JPG format.
There are no good alternatives on the Android Market (= they are slow, bad quality, they save pics in custom panoramic format...), nor I want to use an alternative external app since the option is already built-in!
The only problem with GS2 is they forgot to change the 400pixel resolution (probably for low-end Android phones). It's actually UNUSABLE at 400 pixels. A real pity because for example Samsung Wave S8500 can do much better and uses the same internal software (I guess), but is set to 800 vertical pixels!
Here is a quick comparision between GS2 unusable 400 pixel resolution, and Wave S8500:
Wave:
GS2:
As you can see the poor 400pixel version of Gs2 is unusable. A picture quality worth a 6 years ago cheap phone (below the old VGA standards), without reason.
What really surprises me is that NOBODY's done something to fix this problem. They are all hardly working in customizing fancy video effects and custom roms but nobody ever took a look to the Panoramic camera shoot and released at least a mod-fix for this phone....
We have a powerful and very nice option we can't actually use, because of a Samsung mistake.
The difference is alot !!
I always use the stock camera app for best results
So many updates recently and still haven't been solved...I hope that one day we can notice that it has been fixed because using panorama at this stage is totally useless...
Still the same after more than 1 year?????
Nobody in Samsung even noticed this?
Do we look like Samsung to you ? Complain to/ask them. Nothing will be done about it if you moan about it in a thread on XDA. If you really want something done about it, go straight to the source.
Isn't there a mod fix for this at least?
By the way, FYI, reporting something in a forum may wake up also other users and move much more than a useless single mail to the Samsung support center that will reply with the usual form "Thank you for your interest... bla bla" and stop.
Forums exist also to discuss about problems and bugs. Oh, and I've reported to Samsung the problem with poor Panoramic shoot resolution at least 12 times already...
Well, as the thread says, I have problem with recording video like i dont have autofocus... All blured check video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDxq7wXLAfE&feature=youtu.be
decrease the volume because it is too loud in video
No one has this problem?
Is this with all vids o is that the only one you have because the the huge flame in the foreground wont help the focus much and at night did yiu have it in night mode.Check out this link.I know that there is problems between 720p and 1080p with stability from autofocus and noise distortion.maybe you can pick something up here.In this link they recomend 720p for low light recording due to noise distortion and the advantages of pixel binning.

Thanks, I'll try when next time record something, but it's very stupid when you have feature like recording in 1080p and then they say to you, that you could only use 720p for better fps and image...

yeah i know.Ive tried 1080 and above and also noticed that the auto focus makes it shakey and a bit jumpy too.
Well, I think that maybe ICS will fix this up, and we will all enjoy in FullHD...
Just question what camera fw have you? I have SCEF02 TBEC28
The auto-focus on the S2 is really poor. I had the S i9000 beforehand and it was perfect.. the auto-focus was very subtle and only changed focus when the scene was dramatically different.
Have you tried lgCamcorder? It seems to turn off the auto-focus while recording quite successfully... wish someone could find out how it does that, and port the change to the standard Samsung camera.apk!
Yea... My friend has i9000, and that is why i bought S2, cause i thought it will be better on all sections... Haven't tried lgcamcorder, but i'll try...
Hi there.
I have had this phone for a few days now. I must admit, the camera is very very good indeed. I have no complains what so ever with the still images that the camera records... its just the vids...they are way way dark.
I compared the video recording with samsung wave, S 3, note 2... and lg optimus 3d... in all the comparisons, the video turns out to be darker than any one of the ones i tested.
Is there something wrong with my unit??? I tried the few settings video recording option is loaded with, but that's that.
Can someone plz tell me what's wrong here?
because WP never had night mode, simply to nerv users
If you are shooting outdoors I have noticed if you slightly tilt you phone towards the ground it will expose a bit better compared to if you shoot it up facing the sky.
just put your phone on video and move it from facing the sky to the ground and you will see the exposure change.
Greetings from Moldova, comrades.
There's an issue bothering me for a couple of months so far... I have an Redmi 4X with very high and good quality cameras, both - front and rear. I get awesome pictures and a very stable video record... but when it comes to Viber, Google Duo and Whatsapp.... the camera they use ( the chromatics ) offer a very poor quality, with a very low bitrate and FPS... lagging and so on.
Could you please explain to me what codecs/ drivers / files do these apps use in order to manipulate the camera? Is there a way to give them the same quality I get with the stock camera? The image is very blurred and laggy....just excatly like the viewfinder of the Photo-Stock-Camera.
please advice me where to put an eye on and where to start digging in order to higher the quality of the video calls for these sensors?
As a tip:
The quality of the image during the viewfinder is opened is exactly the same as the video call using any of the messenger apps. But if I turn of the Noise Reduction in the settings of the Stock Camera, the viewfinder gives a very brilliant clear image. The second problem is the low fps of the viewfinder during low light, but it reffers only to the photo camera. When I switch to the video camera, even the viewfinder has a high FPS.
A guy from the russian forum told me that video/photo viewfinders use different chromatics. What does this mean? How to make them identic?
Why isn't anybody touching this subject? Is this a mistery or a fact that is kept in secret? I am trying to ask this thing for 2 months already and each time the forum users keep ignoring this or telling me I am using the wrong thread or stuff like this.
My question is simple! What is the way an app connects to the sensor and what driver it uses? Why the quality differs from the global camera?

I think you're a little bit pissed off ?.Take some time to relax .
The bad quality during video calls is caused by a poor internet connection.
If you were talking about the video quality when you aren't calling , I can't do anything for you .
Have a good day ( or night )

The bad quality in the same room with another phone with good quality means the phone is related to the problem. First of all Noise reduction isn't turned off like to the stock camera app secondly the bitrate is very low comapring to a Samsung phone with lower CPU and RAM . And it's not the camera sensor that is cheap ( it shoots perfect video and photos even in LOW light ( especially with the API2 camera ON ) I am thankful someone answered lol will still be hoping someone knows how to modify the setting of the camera for a video app. There is something in Android that tells these apps how to use the camera

It looks like you've searched for a long time before asking on those forums .
Unfortunately I don't see at all what can be wrong , sorry for that , I hope you'll find

There is more than this. I am sure there are developers here who understand what I mean, but I guess it is more a policy of the brands. Camera quality is lowered in the code of the ROMs. I am just asking how.
No problem, I will wait until a "good''guy will decide to be open.
