small scratches after using clean fingers on a new galaxy edge - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. Got my new galaxy s6 edge yesterday.
I have only use it one day at home with clean fingers.
IT is 3 small scatches where i use my thumb to scroll up and down on webpages.
Must spot them close under good spotlight when the screen is off but if i have the screen on and look very close on a white page i could see one of the small scratches.
Have anyone else in here the same issue?
Only used it with washed hands because i dont want this and i could return it if i want.
My old iPhone 6 had a few but it was 7 month old.
Happy for answers

Those micro scratches are probably from the manufacture. Seems unlikely your finger or nail would cause that.
I would just exchange it, since you just got it.

Wet type screen protectors and the Note

I have long been a fan of the wet application screen protectors (Im sure theres a more official name for them). I like the grippier feel, nearly impossible to jack up installation, and ability to remove and re-apply if it's not straight or starts to peel up. I have used them for years now and loathe the thought of dry stick ons. But it seems if you use your stylus alot then you will want to avoid these as it causes the protector to bunch up and cause what seems like dots all over the main part of the screen. I discovered this because of that damn addicting game called Drawl Something that has me using my stylus so often. The good side is you can just peel, wet, re-apply. But this gets old. I have a replacement on its way just to eliminate any chance of this being a fluke. I plan on following the rules to the letter this time and apply it and apply minimal use and touch for a full 24-48 hours to see if this makes a difference.
Has anyone else encountered this on the Note or other stylus device?
Yes I have also ran into this issue while it's slightly annoying I also just fix it. I also noticed it only happens when you push fairly hard though.
I've got the wet-application Zagg on mine, and I left it alone for 2 days afterward. I haven't had any problems, although I haven't needed to press very hard with the S-Pen either. I don't really like the "stickiness" of the Zagg, though. I'm afraid of what it's going to do to the pen nub in the long run.
It does leave little tracks/trails in the screen protector, but I can't see them when the display is on and they seem to slowly fade over time.
I don't like how it slightly takes away some of the screen clarity, but you just can't beat free lifetime replacements at Best Buy.

owners of blue s3, peeling paint?

today i checked my s3, i found this the paint of my inside screen "back" key peeling off near the border inside the gorilla glass, its really faint but if u look close u can see it, i heard samsung have problem with the blue version but my gs3 is only 2 weeks old, never feel, so far only thing it could get there is a raindrop.
anyone else here experience something similar? was trying to get picture but its really thin hard to notice.
i dont think warranty will cover it, especially since i root it, and its perfectly working phone. sadly in a year when i can sell it probably going to lose more paint.
I feel your pain bro imperfections bug the hell out a me because once you notice it your always looking at it , I've had no issues with my pebble blue beast yet but this is my second one in 2 weeks the first one I messed up flashing modems anyway phone the store and tell them there's a problem with your phone when trying to answer calls that's what I did ten days after buying mine , and see if they will exchange it , if yes just wipe binary factory reset and take that ***** back , at the end of the day its a £500 pound smartphone if your not happy you should be able to return or exchange it , I'd go to the shop and make them exchange it or else : ) good luck don't waste time

no, but the peeling was inside the screen and it looks really over the thin border... i have only 2 weeks with the phone.
i got it on contract on claro, and i doubt they going to exchange it over something so small as paint :/
i looked in AT&T gs3 forums and pretty similar to the border chrome peeling off issue :/, like my n82 eventually it all wear off with time.
The only reason there were launch delays for the SGS3 were because of the pebble blue version even though they are made of the same material you can look closely that they have a difference with the white version in the feel of your palm. Manufacturer's are having a crisis in the pebble blue department that's why I took the white one instead.

Just unroot/triangle away and return to store. Its worth a try.
I'm using a TPU case with screen protector since day 1 as always. No problem.
Okay I can't say that I own a s3 but with Samsung phones in general I can tell you this. My Samsung impression(dinosaur) had the same problem. After awhile the paint was coming off chipping and all that. Its just what Samsung uses I suppose just had to put my two sense in

My top left hand corner stainless steel paint peel off. my phone in the protective case first day! I don't even till I was shopping for extra case, remove it and there it is black color!
Do you guys think they exchange another one for me?
Can we see some images?
No case/protector here since day 1. Phone is about a month and half old. As good as new, no paint peel, no scratch/crack on its own.
would be hard to get a picture, its really small but its pretty much blue paint peeling from the lighter blue border, it looks black below. its really faint,i dont touch it so it doesnt remove more paint
i going to ask tomorow but i doubt it, they gotta replace it.
if not, i guess i will have to order online a protector. but even n82 took a while for the paint to peel, this took 2 weeks.
I have been using mine with no protection at all for a few weeks now and have not had any issues- blue s3

Fix tiny damage on display with protector?

Hi !
I'm sooo careful with my S6 Edge, and even have the crystal clear flipcover on it. However, somehow I have 2 very very small "bumps" in the glass, feels with the Nail, if you are sensitive enough Absolutley no big deal, I have to look very very closely with a Clean display and much reflection to even see it. But! Nonetheless it bothers me.. My S5 was spoton perfect for 2 years (?) ... Note: I havent droped it or anything.
So, back to the question, this 2 small damages looks like small dirt (closest explation I have), but - I want it gone! My idea is that good screen protector (like Copter), makes it go away. This is just an idea I have, I hope that someone can verify it? Would it work?
Plan B is to wait 1 year or so, and then replace the display and battery at thesame time. New display is about 1/4 the price of a new S6 Edge (here in sweden). But, the phone is a bit more than 1 week, so I wait a bit more
Soo.. boys and Girls. The protector idea, will it remove minor damages on display? Also, not tiny scratches, a smaller than 1mm Little bump that is felt with the Nail (not much though),
IF not - any other ideas?
PS: Sorry for bad English.. been a while since I wrote in it
So, been checking out somethings tonight. First off, I feel silly. I can't even feel the "dent" , and I almost never see it.
Strange thing though, saw a Youtube clip, stabbing with metal knife, even hard punch with hammer, nothing! Sooo, my S6 Edge must have been like this out of the box. I guess complain at Samsung gives me 0.
However, I will put a screen protector on, 1) I won't feel anything, ever. 2) Maybe remove the tiny Little thing that can been seen by Eyes sometimes.
Also, a brand spanking new screen + lcd (Complete kit) is only $218, and easy to replace. So I wait until something real bad happens and change it ..
But, what you guys Think, will protector cover up some minor (read: minor) flaw in glass?

Review of the Amfilm Full edge to edge screen protector

Ok so I got this today (surprised because it just mailed yesterday)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01CDVZAH6/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So as far as fitment goes, it fits perfect. It allows for the Spigen thin fit case to go on just fine. It covers all the areas of the screen. I am however not a fan that the camera does not have a cutout.
Secondly I am most definitely not a fan of the dot matrix on the display. It doesn't detract from the screen when on but it definitely is noticeable when off.
Third, touch sensitivity is definitely inhibited in the bottom right corner of the protector (hitting return or smilies). Also, it's hard to bring up Samsung Pay easy pay feature as well.
Fourth, when typing there is a slight sound of the protector hitting the screen (I don't think there is adhesive on the screen part and only on the black areas).
I really had high hopes for this protector but overall I'm a bit meh with it. I want just glassglass, clear no dot matrix and adheres. I might try a regular just part of the flat glass.
EDIT
After running the protector now for a couple of days I can honestly say I am going to get rid of this and based on other reviews out right now, go with a plastic protector.
I went out yesterday and it was a nice sunny day. I pulled my phone out and immediately saw the dot matrix display even with the phone on (and it actually made it a little more difficult to see things).
EDIT 4/4/16
I got the new updated version of the protector. They have done some things to try and improve it and it is marginally better than before but the deractors are still there.
Touch issues still present in the bottom right and along bottom edge of the screen, dot matrix still there (albeit a lot less pronounced than before). It definitely is thinner than before (but still thick enough to notice when touching the home key.
All that aside, it is definitely one that I can deal with for a while until something else comes along
The search for something that fits continues!

Just got mine.. Got it installed & then immediately ripped the piece of **** right back off.. I can echo all the same negatives & then add that it is thick enough that it was difficult to get the fingerprint scanner to work. The adhesive is a sticker that is indeed placed just around the black parts. Also of note is that this DOES NOT contour to the screen. It is just blackened where you would otherwise see the halo effect.
Bummer. I had high hopes here. Guess I'm glad I never got a reply when I emailed them as per their instructions.

lol I never saw that deal till afterwards. I paid full price for mine.. I have requested a return on this thing. So not worth the money. the ones that dont give full coverage would be better.

Since I didn't pay for it, I'm going to leave it on until I can find a partial coverage one that works.
Just received mine too. Similar thoughts.
What I like:
- The ports and cutouts line up very well with the device.
- Screen is very smooth and feels much like the actual screen itself
- Did not degrade touch sensitivity for me. Sounds like this might be hit or miss, but for me I didn't notice any difference, I specifically tested corners and borders. ** After more use, I have noticed degraded touch sensitivity along the corners and lower portion of the screen
- Fairly thick, I prefer this but this is subjective
What wasn't so great:
- Dot pattern can be seen and is very noticeable. Not nearly as noticeable when the screen is on however.
- Adhesive only on the edges and bezel areas. Again, for mine it does not make any noises when I tap the screen but I also would prefer a screen protector that adheres to the entire screen.
- ** Decreased touch sensitivity
Overall assessment: A few minor issues but I'll definitely be keeping it on. For those who use the fingerprint reader, it may not be the best choice it makes just enough of a thickness difference to make the home button actuation feel different. I like the thickness however, and it actually matches the Samsung clear case very well.

Let me know. I received one of the first "freebie" ones....ended up taking it off, as I couldn't deal with the dot matrix combined with the missed taps I was experiencing. Never got anything else about a new version, so I guess you're a lucky 2 time guinea-pig

Glad to hear it's better than it was. I've since moved to the S7 Edge. Unfortunately, seems nobody has been able to make a competent Tempered screen protector for that device lol.

S9+ oleophobic coating wearing off

I bought my S9+ (SM-G9650 DS) back in April 2018 but these days I've noticed 3 lines that disappear when you clean the screen with microfiber cloth but reappears with my oil skin or water. I've read that it was the oleophobic coating also some guy on Reddit got his device fixed and a Samsung employee told him that it was a defective batch https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS9/comments/8g534o/oleophobic_coating_wearing_off/
I hope Samsung Ecuador replace my screen or give me an replacement.

Try bringing it to an authorized service center. Had a local unit in Philippines have this same issue and they offered to replace the screen and battery.
Two months and 3 weeks with the GS9 + and I'm seeing oleophobic coating wearing off on the spots where thumb is used for scrolling. Not directly visible for now but when applying some drops of water and spreading on the screen can easily show where its wearing off.

Its a problem out here. Service center guys will replace the screen after keeping the phone with them for 1, 2 days but in the process they end up damaging/scratching the phone and then its a never ending process of follow ups . It happened so with my old galaxy s6 edge plus.

I don't have this issue over the main screen (yet) after about the same duration of use as you, but I've noticed it similar to this user here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtDf53wcgmc
I certainly don't have it as bad as him and he also seems to demonstrate it over the main screen, rather than just the sides and the top left. I definitely have it over both the sides (around the curved edges) and the very top left area. What I'm curious about is whether I had it from the very start (you won't notice it until you "dirty" the screen a bit and have the right lighting and viewing conditions) as I don't think it's worsened since I first noticed it 2-3 weeks ago. However, it seems there are more reports of people noticing it get worse, which is not a good.
Do you think this is definitely a new thing or could it have been there from the start?
This is without a screen protector? Scary
Mmmm. I have had this problem with every samsung phone since the note 5, gs7 edge, gs8, gs8 plus, note 8. Now the gs9 plus . I notice it happens if use alcohol base products like hand sanitizer, etc and then use ur phone the OC starts to waredown. My gs9 plus looks really bad in sunlight cause of this reason. The only way to realive this problem would be to hide it with a water base screen protector or whitedome tempered glass.

I've owned every Galaxy S series smartphone in the past and each one suffered from this oleophobic coating getting removed exactly where the fingers constantly touch(especially the thumb) without the use of any alcohol or any other solution whatsoever and as I never used screen protectors. But S9 plus took the shortest time amongst them if I remember correctly and since currently its not visible yet from any direction or lighting condition without pouring water there, I ended up installing a tempered glass.
I've noticed this in two spots on my Galaxy S9+. A vertical streak in the upper left corner and a vertical streak on the middle-right.
They're not near the rounded part of the edge. They're not where my fingers reach. I think it was always like that but I only noticed recently. And in the brighter summer sun, it's VERY noticeable now.
Not sure of the best way to get it replaced.
Bought it through T-Mobile. Do I take it to them to replace? UBreakIFix? Or any other Samsung authorized repair place like the specific Best Buy ones?

Can you show a pic ? Just asking.
..
Clearly feels like QC issues in your case. Rather ask for replacement than going for repairing and such.
Sure. It's not the easiest thing to photograph. You have to get the reflection just right. But you can see here when I smear my palm across the upper corner and the sides, there's a toothpick-sized streak that doesn't get any fingerprints on it. And in the bright sunlight it's really noticeable.

Yeah its seen clearly. You should Ask T-Mobile for a replacement I would say,
Sorry for late reply but I got my phone repaired for free at Samsung Customer Service, if you also have problems with your oleophobic coating go inmediately and they should give you a new device or at least a screen replacement.
In my case the receptionist didn't understand what the oleophobic coating was and she said that my phone doesn't have any issues so you should try to convince her/him by using a flashlight to highlight the lines/smudges on the screen are still there even after they cleaned it with a microfiber cloth.
I received the phone after 4 days and they had also changed the battery and the buttons without any extra charge.
PD: English isn't my main language so feel free to correct my grammar if I've made any mistake or you doesn't understand me.

Hi what's the process? How much did it cost you? Mine has streaks on it. Looks like a tree branch. Thanks in advance
If they consider it as a manufacturing error, the repair will be free of course. Otherwise, screen replacement is around 200€.
