I have a G2x that I have loved for the better part of a year. I recently cracked the screen and I have been contemplating selling my phone or fixing the screen myself.
My potential new phones will probably be
Samsung Galaxy Nexus Unlocked $620
Samsung Galaxy SII i9100 Unlocked $580
Samsung Galaxy SII T-Mobile $499
I am thinking of getting this phone but since the price is pretty high, I must ask for some feedback. What do you like about the phone? Is it easy to root(for changing battery icon purposes)? How is battery life? Is this better than the Galaxy Nexus due to better camera, video codecs, or is the resolution lacking?
All your questions have already been answered. Do a search or check the general SGS2 section which is full of similar threads.
I have two choices
1.Htc one X
2.Samsung Galaxy S3
Guys as per all your users experiences which is the best phone on basis of performance, battery life......

Both are great devices however the Galaxy S3 is regarded for having better performance due to Touchwiz being more optimized then Sense, as well as the Galaxy S3 having better battery life due to it having a bigger battery power capacity then the HTC One X. Also the Galaxy S3 has the advantage of having a removable battery so if you need you can swap in a fresh battery, in addition the Galaxy S3 also has expandable storage via micro sd card where as the HTC One X does not. As a Galaxy S3 owner I am very happy with the battery life and performance, and device as a whole. If video reviews are what your looking for I would recommend taking a look at these reviews here and here Overall the Galaxy S3 has the edge but if you can, try out both devices and see which device you like the best.

Hi guys,
I'm a long term Android user, but I'm trying to convince my gf to make the switch from Apple to Android.
She currently has an Iphone 4s and is very happy with it except it has ground to a halt as the apple updates have taken up all the storage space.
So she loves the looks of the s6 edge but i've seen really mixed results about the battery life, I don't want her to have a bad experience and then brand android with this issue.
Is the battery really bad?
Many thanks,
Andy

I would wait from marshmallow to roll out from the galaxy s6 because there are several problems such as bad ram management and poor battery life. There are ways to get around these issues; ex. Package disabler pro. The app allows you to disable bloat and increase the battery but these issues shouldn't be here in the first place. I would wait the I'll marshmallow so you can see if the issues are resolved and then buy it. I am using package disabler pro and I average 4:30-5:30 screen on time.

Hi Andy, the battery is not bad! I have since one month a galaxy s6 edge and the battery lasts me so 24 to 36 hours! Lg Markus
Thanks guys, we're really impressed with the phone but the screen on battery life is shocking. Which apps should I disable with the package disabler?
Is it just stock Samsung ones?
Hi there i've been using galaxy a8 since october and seeing that the s6 edge/edge+ is on a huge discount, i decided it,s time to upgrade. Now a lot of folks may say that i should have done some research over the forum prior to posting here and i want to tell you that i've done and what i see is it definitely is worth upgrading. But my questions circle around two matters.
1.I've done some research on the battery life of s6 edge/edge+ and seeing all the mixed feedback, i thought i'd ask about it so coming from an a8, i actually have pretty good battery life on it as it's screen is 1080p and i wonder how the s6 edge/edge+ fares on this department especially the difference between lollipop and marshmallow updates.
2.The s6 edge+ has 4gb ram while s6 edge has 3 does this 1gb of ram difference provides any significant improvement over the latter whatsoever?
Thanks in advance.
Mine's on lollipop yet... everything in this device is good... except the battery... it's awful!
I would recommend you to go for a S7 Edge or even a G4 (my girlfriend has and is very happy with it)
Don't waste your money.
I actually kinda hate G4's design as i'm in love with edge flagships'. What do you mean by that Tronix666?
My galaxy s6 edge has terrible battery life on lollipop but when i got my mm update my battery life improved immensely due to mm doze. I had to downgroade to wnable ny hotspot unfortunately but once someone gets it working on mm ill be upgrading in a heartbeat.

Hello,
I have S8+ (exynos) currently, but going for vacations next month and was thinking to replace my current phone with new S9+ (exynos) , mostly due to better camera (zoom etc.) but also for more ram and cpu performance. I was about to buy it when I encountered review on youtube showing that battery life on s9+ is much worse than s8+. This is bad info for having 2h shorter SoT than s8+ is meh..... So my question is, do I really have to worry about that when it comes to s9+ (exynos) or it's the same. if it's the same then it's fine to me, I can live it but worse .... not really.
Mine is worst. The only thing that makes a bit of difference for me is put it in mid porwer save mode.
It's not much of a upgrade from s8 plus I'll say wait for note 9 or s10 before upgrading. U'll loose money and won't feel any difference whatsoever. If u want to buy right now look for other options. But better is to wait and keep using s8+
Don't buy bruh. Very minimal upgrades and battery is poorer than note 8. I purchased it and went bk to note 8 aftr 7 weeks.
I have an exynos s9+ and i don't have any battery issues whatsoever
My average is between 5 and 6hrs of sot, but when i charge it to 100%, the average is between 6 and 7 hours
My max was 8 hrs, and that's pretty good
If you have the money, i wouldn't hesitate to buy it if i were you

To each their own. I just switched to the S9+ from the Note 8 and I'm loving the dual speakers, better/brighter screen and better camera. I only used the S-Pen a few times since launch so it was a no brainer.
If money is no issue, then go ahead. S9+ is a great phone, but the upgrades are minimal from the S8+.

I find that my S9+ has much better battery than my S8+. That S8+ was horrible battery wise.
S8+ was lucky to get 24 hours uptime. s9+ can get 36 hours uptime. That's huge for me!
People say the upgrade is small. I don't feel the same way. Sure the outside of the phone looks very similar but the inside is way diff. More memory, better processor, better screen, better fingerprint reader, etc. How are these components not a better upgrade or worthwhile upgrade? If your main concern is the outer shell of the phone, no, don't get new phone. If your main concern is performance, yes, get new phone!
Hold your ground nd wait for Note 9's release in early August with a big battery. My experience with d exynos gs9+ isn't that gr8 comparing to the snapdragon.
Thank you guys, so smart move would be to wait for Note9 release, the only issue with that phone will be the money it will be priced high for at least few months, while S9+ is in acceptable price currently.

There's always going to be a brand new phone right around the corner. If you wait for the Note9 might as well wait for the S10+, and if you wait for the S10+ you might as well wait for the Note 10 and so on and so on.

Yes, and the cost of the Note 9 should drive down the cost of S9+

May be worth looking into if Samsung has an offer for part-exchanging your S8+ for an S9+ in your country. I did this here in the UK since they offer a £300 discount on the S9+ if I return the S8+, bringing the price of the S9+ 256GB down to £629.

The battery lasts longer on my S9 Plus than my S8+, both Snapdragon. SOT is 6 to 8 hours. Based on what's been posted in this forum the Exynos variants are getting more negative feedback over battery performance. As far as the S9 being worth upgrading over an S8? Combine hardware, features and processing, it's a bigger improvement during usage than spec comparisons indicate. At first the S9 Plus seemed pretty much like the S8+ but since it's been my daily driver for a few months I'm more impressed and comfortable with the upgrade. For me the Note 8 and 9 (rumored) to have a 6.3 inch display are just too big especially when one considers the S9 Plus is so close at 6.2 inch. I guess S Pen has some merit but I doubt I'd use it. I won't upgrade to the S10 based on what's leaking but more than likely I will when the Galaxy X arrives early next year.
