Hey guys, first of all sorry for not specifying my problem in the thread's title. Thing is, I have at least 3 problems and I don't see the need of creating a new thread for each problem.
Anyway, yesterday I took courage and decided to root my tablet for the first time. I followed the tutorial posted by Chulri here in the forum and apparently succeeded. However, it was only a matter of time before the problems started.
Here they are:
1 - Whenever my screen times out and I wake up the tablet it gets painfully slow eventually crashing. Is that a known problem or is it just me?
2 - It also crashes whenever I try to connect my BT keyboard.
3 - I can't connect it to my computer AT ALL. When I plug it in and choose "mount" the program just crashes. Strangely, I get a pop-up note that says that my usb is connected and that it's ready to upload and transfer files from my pc.
4 - I have successfully installed the market after rooting my tablet. Still, even after doing that some apps won't show up, such as: ADW.Launcher and Go Launcher EX. Note, that I am currently living in China and using the marketenabler app.
Now, I have read that for rooting the tablet a fresh install is advised. I didn't format my Archos though. Could that be the source of my problems? I'm not using a decent SD card either but from what I know that shouldn't really cause any problems unless I'm using urukdroid. So guys, any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!
Ok guys, after browsing the forum for a couple of hours I have found the solution to most of my problems.
I have basically downgraded to version 2.1.08 again by following the guide here. After that most of my problems were gone. I still have to test my BT keyboard; once I do I'll let you guys know how it went. The market is not showing all the apps yet but that shouldn't be a problem.
Hello,
I have been looking for help on this matter. Regardless the browser I use, certain web pages will not load. For example, when I type www.space.com I get a 404 error.
When I use MLB at Bat 2013, and switch for the standings page, I get an error that says wap.mlb.com is not available. Some other web pages, after I login they get me back to the starting page without login in.
I Read at another thread that someone recommended using a VPN. Luckily I have one. I connected to the VPN and then, voila! Problem solved.
I do not want to use the VPN, I used to be able to browse without a VPN with no problems. I do not know what happened.
Sometimes I have noticed in the address bar of the browser after I typed in an URL, that IT gets all wrong. For example, I Type www.space.com, hit enter and the address bar reads, http://www.space.comhttp://space.com
I have unsinstalled the browsers, clean the cache and data for them....
Anyone that could shed some light on this?
I will appreciate It.

I just clicked on the link (www.space.com) in your post and my browser connected immediately with no problem. Are you sure it's the Tablet Z that's causing the problem, not the router?
I'm using a custom ROM (PAC) with the stock Android (AOSP) browser.
Hello,
I read about router issues in another thread. The thing is, when I use the VPN I configured in the tablet settings, everything works fine, I mean, web pages load with no problem. I just do not understand this behavior. My wife has a Samsung note 8 and she browses the web with no problems.

This doesn't sound like a tablet problem, it sounds like an app or OS problem. My tab works just fine and apart from you, I haven't seen anyone else having problems loading web pages.
While it will suck to reload everything on your tablet, I'd recommend that you reset the tab back to factory condition. The first thing you do after that is to check that you can surf to the site(s) that are causing you problems. If everything is working ok, then one at a time, start re-installing all your apps checking after every two or three apps to make sure the problem hasn't returned.
If your tab was rooted, do that last after everything else is installed and working.
You don't include a lot of info on what version of android you are running, what version of tablet you have. Without much more info, it's difficult to narrow down possible causes for your problem. If you have a sgp321, do you have the same problem surfing while using your cell carrier? If your tab is wifi only, then this is definitely a software environment problem or your router has lost its mind. If no problems on any other connected devices on your LAN, it pretty much has to be a tablet software issue.
I assume you haven't been screwing with the bootloader or the kernel have you?
Good luck.
I did have WIFI issues with the custom roms (Pacman and AOKP) as well. Went back to Sony 4.1.2 and it's solved.
Hoping for an UI mod for the 4.2.2 now.

As dph3055 says, people can't help when you've not supplied some basic info - although I see from your signature you've got a 311.
Also, what happens on any other wifi router ? have you tried another one?
Thank you, Guys. I decided to backup the Tablet Z with Titanium and then I peformed a hard reset. Now the issue is gone.
Browsers back to normal. Yes, I forgot to add information about the tablet. For the recored in case somebody else encohnters this weird problem, I have the tablet Z 16 GB only WiFi, I am rooted but I have not unlocked it. I recently upgraded to Sony's update 4.2.2
I have not installed any custom roms nor kernels. Since I have not unlocked I never messed with the bootloader.
Im gonna see how the tablet performs and if I get stuck into same behavior will report back.

Hi Sax---101. I have the same model as yours & am having similar issue. Did you update to 4.2.2 before or after you did the hard reset? I just came from the Sony store & rep said issue would be corrected just by updating to 4.2.2. I don't want to update to 4.2.2 because of the major change to the user interface; I've been reading that hardly anybody likes it (including the Sony rep). I can't get the WatchEspn app to work without the update. He told me to check on xda forum for way to bypass the update (with a sideload just for this issue?), but I can't find it.
So.....did you update before or after hard reset?
Everybody else: Is there a way to correct the issue so I can get all the ESPN channels, WITHOUT the update?
aajj99,
As far as I know, this website display problem that you and one other person are experiencing has nothing to do with the firmware on the XTZ.
I am currently running .136 and have no issues with website display. The problem is related to the the apps & OS environment you have created since you began using your tab. A reset will fix the problem until you do something to break it again.
You don't need to upgrade firmware to fix this issue.
Hi everyone,
I have tried to search for a solution to my problem but I haven't been very successful. If anyone knows of links to possible resolutions to my problem, please reply with them.
I have an issue with the chrome browser starting with a completely black screen. At first I thought it was only my last phone (RAZR HD), but the problem is also present on my Verizon Note 3. If it were just an issue on a single phone, I'd probably ask in specific phone forums, but it's happened on two different phones now.
I'm presuming that the problem might be caused by an app I'm using, but the problem is intermittent so I can't tell if the issue subsides when I uninstall certain apps.
Any help or insight in this issue is appreciated.
Thanks
I have the same issue. Seems in my case its ANY 4.3 rom. It started after an update to Chrome around the fifteenth or so of November. It'll work but if I change tabs or switch apps it will turn black when resuming. Older versions of Chrome don't have the problem. I've gone back to a 4.2.2 root box rom with no problems.

The latest update to chrome doesn't render the pages immediately.
This would most likely be to open chrome faster.
However, users are reporting that they don't get past a black screen.
This is common.
Go complain to google devs though, not here. (The bug tracker they have)
Right on. Will do. Not so much complaining as just sharing with the OP. Thanks for letting us know its very common. My searches have not returned much information at all. Including Google searches and searches here and on XDA.
Thanks again!

I see. My RAZR HD was still on 4.1.2 and this was an issue there too. Thanks for the information.
Side note: I'm glad I wasn't the only person having difficulty searching on this subject.
sorry for the huge bump but if anyone was wondering my dpi was 350 and this issue stated when my Rom was changed to a 350 DPI. I used xposed and App Settings to change the DPI of chrome to 480 and no more black screens
EDIT(2 hours later):Nope it just came back.
Hello,
I am curious if anyone has ever found a definitive solution to this issue that has plagued android since Gingerbread. I have been on multiple phones, multiple brands, multiple revisions of the software and have seen this issue on every single one. Here is a list of the phones I have had:
OG Droid (2.2-2.3)
Droid 2 (2.3)
Samsung Charge (2.3)
Droid 4 (2.3-4.2)
Galaxy Note 3 (4.3-4.4)
The issue is:
Your friend sends you a message and they receive a notification that you received it. However, your phone neither alerts you to a message received or shows it in your inbox. However the message IS getting to your phone, because if you install GhostlySMS it catches incoming messages that don't make it into your inbox. So I must then conclude it is a database writing error or something of the like? Is there someone that can help me? I can reproduce the issue rather easily and can grab a logcat if needed.
I am currently running a rooted Verizon Note 3 (running the stock slot, but safestrap is installed) and am getting hardly any of the texts my wife sends me, and I miss quite a few from my father. She is running a rooted Galaxy S4 with Safestrap and Eclipse ROM.
I have searched and searched but so far all I can find are a bunch of "try this, try that" or "factory reset" without any real solid fix. I would like to find a real solution, not a workaround or a factory reset (if possible). I would especially love to know the root cause.
I know I may be asking for the world here, but hoping we could pool our collective consciousnesses to squash this issue once and for all!
Thanks!

So I did a factory reset (actually I completely wiped the entire stock slot, odin'd stock MJE, and then followed Beanstown's guide to get to KK using towelroot. The issue has gone away. However I have my SMS database and so far as I can tell there is nothing wierd. But I am not a DB admin by any means.
I would love to find out why Android eventually loses its ability to reliably write new SMS to the database after a while.
Anyone have any ideas?

Hi all,
This is my first post on the forum!
I have a XT910 bought in Nov 2011. The phone is from Asia Region. I faced the well known SMS issue on this device on Asia Retail 4.0.4. Initially there was no problem but later it just randomly started. Fed up I rooted the device and flashed the EU JB Official ROM from this forum. Later on I have since installed Cyanogenmod (using Safestrap and done a dual boot with my stock ROM intact). The problem I face these days is that the phone is too slow / sluggish / unresponsive at times and it really drives me crazy. The problem occurs usually when I open some heavy app like Chrome or do some "new" activity .. like a new app installed and configured etc. The thing is this slowness is visible in both the stock / cyanogen mod. I have been on CM10.2 to 12.1 now but the problem exists always. I have done multiple reflashes / formats for CM as well as factory resets for the stock ROM but the issue does eventually crop up after a few days. I have observed the following though using various tools:
1. RAM usage is almost touching 85%+ but rarely do I have less than 50MB of RAM left.
2. Processor also seems to be okay
3. The I/O on the disk is too high tough. Sometimes I have seen GB of data "written" just when opening a blank chrome window (using System Monitor Lite). I wonder if my on board flash memory is to blame? I also have an external class 10 16GB SD card, though removing this doesn't seem to give any performance boosts.
I have been facing this problem almost since I moved to the EU JB ROM about 1.5 yrs back, though I must say the Asia Retail ICS wasn't really fast either.
What are your opinions / troubleshooting hints that I can follow or do you think the phone is plain simple too old and really needs to be replaced?
Thanks.

Hello again guys..
100+ views but no replies!!!
Any help will be appreciated Thanks.
Installed the monitor. That monitor app reports estimated transfer speed not amount data transferred. I.e. installing chrome is done at about 790kb/s. Since I don't have the paid version I cannot see how much it takes to open chrome. At least you know that it is not heat forcing your processor to throttle.
Doing RSD can be a better approach. And then factory reset WITH internal sdcard deletion. Just in case you have bad file system.
You explain in the post that first rooted then installed EU ROM over an asian phone. I don't think it would have worked but if it did, maybe rom is not working well with your kernel. Do a Rsd or flash the corresponding kernel. Second choice have gave me troubles before, so be ready to rsd.
Minimal installation of gapps. Avoiding heavy launchers like aviate. Using .nomedia files to disable media search in certain folders.
Not messing with ad blockers or location services or permissions for a while. Also ohmster had an interesting post in cm11 thread about what he does to get a better experience.
