Hello! today i updated my phone to the latest build i.e. DVU1BOE3.
after upgrading i got to know that ping pong root is not currently supported for this build. Now i want to downgrade to my earlier build i.e. DVU1AOE2. Will downgrading trigger knox?
Did you ever find out the answer to this question? Would be interested to know myself as well.

Sorry I know you guys get common stuff like this a lot, and as such I searched for my issue but everything I found lead me to a dead end.
I'm currently using VZW Galaxy S4 (SCH-i545) with build VRUDMI1 and android 4.2.2
I had disabled OTA updates by using a guide about a year ago. I'm needing to unroot my phone and put it back to stock so I can get OTA and move on to 4.4 (I don't know enough about custom roms and flashing to do it without OTA).
From what I read, I need to use odin to flash a tar file while in download mode. Problem is, I don't know which file to get. I've looked at some guides but I can't find a working link for an SCH-545 VRUDMI1 with 4.2.2
Any help would be appreciated and thanks for your time.

Thank you, I did discover that very thread, but the build number doesn't match mine. I wasn't sure if that made any difference and out of fear of bricking my phone, I posted this to make sure. So even though the build isn't what mind presently says, it should be ok?

Yea, this will update and unroot all in one. Like the post said, if that update doesn't work, then grab the NC2 one. It would be best to factory reset as well.
Just read the rollout will begin this week ? excited for lollipop

I saw that too. I'm rooted on NG6 now experiencing no problems, but really want lollipop. Any word on how root is going to work with this new build? I apologize in advance if that is a dumb question.

If it works anything like the other GS4's than you will need to flash a pre-rooted lollipop build using Flashfire (or safestrap, but you probably won't be able to access safestrap after flashing lollipop).
I always just followed the directions posted by muniz_ri in the [How-To] root thread in this forum. I guess stay tuned! I didn't use safestrap cause I thought we couldn't.

its a staged rollout, meaning that if it doesn't come to you now it'll come soon
like in the next few days from what i can tell. verizon always does their rollouts like this.
Well, crap. I really really want this update. But no xposed for lollipop touchwiz, no custom ROMs, no deodex, and a one time shot at the root method really kills it for me.

Second step, if you want any chance of root, is to not to take the ota until the firmware can be evaluated.
Yeah, if you're rooted, on whatever bootloader, best to wait and give these guys time to do what it is we're all for. If this is anything like the other carriers, or past OTAs (especially ones since 4.3) you'll b sorry if u get impatient.
I'd help but My phone is rom'd and I can't live with stock touchwiz/ not being able to go back to ng6/nc5. If it were the s3 however...
Trying the root the S4 that I just got from VZ. It is version number I can't find i think because it has 5.0.1 on it. Anyone else ran into the build number of VRUGOC1. If you have rooted with this version please let me know what method you used, I don't want to cook the thing.
Thanks

Well darn, I was afraid of that. Thanks for your response
So I've been on a slim-stock rooted ROM (I believe this one) of OB1 variety (Lollipop 5.0) and figured why the hell not update to the newest 5.1.1 base since I've been back into phone stuff trying to get my dad's new T-Mo S4 all freshly rooted and updated .
I was thinking of installing this OJ4 (5.1.1) ROM but then noticed that the current modem/kernel/stock .tar files in this wonder thread here say NH4 is the newest version and there's no mention of neither OJ4 nor OB1...which made me have an utter "WTF" moment. Why doesn't that list have either of them on there? My phone's current baseband/moden is OB1, which is what one'd expect from a OB1 ROM without its modem separately updated...but why are NEITHER of them in that list??
Someone please tell me I'm not the only one who finds that downright strange or could help shed light on this mystery, thanks!
TL;DR= Trying to update to OJ4 (5.1.1) and not sure if I have to THEN update everything I can to NH4 after the fact.
Bump, anybody?

Probably because that thread has not been updated.
Here is the official firmware update list from T-Mobile for the S5. You can search for custom builds of those if you like.
Sorry, can't post links yet.

WOW! I feel pretty dumb lol
Thanks for that, repped! Guess I'll go along with the upgrade then and see what trouble I get myself into :good:.

Thanks okay. There's a reason they coined the phrase "brain fart". Sometimes something so simple evades you!
I've been reading all over the forum but it's difficult to find a definitive answer. I have the AT&T version on 4.4.2, I527UCUBNJ2. I'm not looking for a custom recovery or ROM as I'm pretty sure no progress was ever really made on that. What I'm curious about is whether or not this build can be rooted. I'm not worried about tripping KNOX, I just want to make sure that by (attempting) to gain root I don't make a big brick.

where did you find the root for 4.2.2.? I'm rooted with Kingo SuperUser and unsatisfied I didn't root my 4.2.2 just to have bloatware features that I can't control.
So I'm looking for a solution
