I searched the forum and I couldn't find anything on the subject. Am I the only one that got the wrong color TP.
I bought the TF201-C1-CG from Fry's in Las Vegas during CES and I opened it to find the gray one inside. It was new with the plastic still on it. The color check mark on the side showed gray. I took it back and exchanged it for a TF201-C1-GR and get the champagne one I wanted. The box model number says gray, but the color check box on the side says champagne. I just double checked and the serial numbers on the box and tablet match.
Did this happen to anyone else?
for those of you tracking serial numbers and looking for correlations to "good/bad batches"...
the first tf201s that hit the US had serial numbers starting with BB. it seems that most (or maybe even all) of the units with defective wifi antenna installations came from this batch. units with serials beginning BC started to show up in january, first mention on this forum was on 1/12 (edit: post on this thread indicated BC units were in hands as early as 12/23). although wifi complaints weren't as numerous, we still got a good number of "serial number unknown" issues associated with that batch.
i obtained a tf201-b1-gr (32gb gray) unit yesterday and the serial number starts with C1. this particular unit arrived in california direct from asus on thursday 1/19, so it looks like another batch is making it's way through the states.
this is only one data point, but my findings with this unit are:
- still coming with honeycomb installed
- wifi performance is decent but not great (read: as expected)
- no screen problems (dead pixels, dust, bleeding)
- no issues upgrading to 4.0.3, no lockups/reboots post-upgrade
no changes to the exterior/etc that i can see compared to the original batches, i.e. the microSD card slot is still slightly too shallow and causes the end of the card to stick out.
not sure if asus is getting the manufacturing kinks worked out or if i'm just "lucky". any other C1 findings?

Not that anyone's counting but I have a BC champagne and it is (so far) flawless. No issues and upgrades have been smooth.
Mine is also BC and so far I have nothing to complain. With HC I had one or two random reboots but with ICS is all good. Got it Dec 27th in Germany.
I picked up a C1 last week in The Netherlands here, some serious light bleed going on so it will be picked up for RMA by ASUS tomorrow.
I'm in Canada and just got a C1... has some minor light bleed by the headphone jack... not terrible, but not perfect either.

I got some lightbleeding on the upper right side. But its hard to see and doesn't bother me (TFP was not released here yet, so I got no customer service - but I'm good).
Is yours very bad?
does anyone have a photo of a bad case of bleeding? i am yet to see one in the forum.
i picked up a C1 yesterday in the netherlands,
so far no problems. no backlight bleeding and no problems with dead pixels or WIFI.
i`m happy with it! much better than the ipad i got!

While it isn't a Prime, it's a good showase of bad light bleed.
I received my TF201 with the BC Serial Number on December 23 from Best Buy and have not had any issues with it other than the Wifi being weak. I've ran several Speednet tests around the house and compared the results to my TF101 and it gets on average 50 to 70% less throughput than the TF101. I'm hoping Asus comes up with a fix soon.
I picked up a C1 yesterday from Best Buy in Downey, CA. It is flawless so far. No light bleeding, update to ICS fine, no random reboots, wifi is good, gps syncs almost instantly indoor and outdoor.
edit: eeekkkkkk! another thing to note. my previous one was also a C1 from Amazon, that I got 5 days ago. This unit had major issues: very bad light bleeding, constant random reboots after ICS update, gps sync issues... etc. That one was a nightmare.
I received my C1 WW CBIL Prime yesterday from FutureShop online.
I haven't had any problems. If there is backlight bleeding it doesn't bother me, and upgrading to 4.0.3 went smoothly without any lockups or reboots.
Wifi speed feels much faster than my SGS i9000 though that could be faster rendering. One day I may do a speed test side by side, we'll see.

For the record, and contrary to the OPs first post, I have a "BC" from December 23rd from Amazon... well before 1/12

OP edited to reflect this, thanks
I have BC from 12/22...works great
I have/had a 2 BC's and have problems with both. First one had no GPS and serial number unknown issue and screen bleed. the second one had screen bleed and no GPS as well. I could live with the screen bleed, but GPS didn't work at ALL, 0 satellites found at all times with or without wifi as well. I should have my 3rd one by the end of the week. I will compare the BC one and the new one I receive.
I have a BC. Received it 12/27. The only issue is ZERO GPS lock. It has never seen a satellite. This is a non-issue for me though.
I just got a C1 today from Amazon. It is charging now and I will come back to update on how things look. One thing I will say is that the amount of variation in quality within and between serials is just indicative of poor QCing on the part of Asus. Finger crossed that mine is OK.
UPDATE: A little light bleed and some unfortunate minor scratches on the backplate. ICS update went smoothly. Not having much luck with GPS indoors, but my apartment is in a weird location where i often even have trouble with my cell phone. So I will update once I can take it outside. Wifi seems fine. relatively speedy and my modem and router are downstairs (I have only used it upstairs).
UPDATE 2: Turns out the scratches were not real scratches. Light bleed persists and I have noticed a dead/stuck pixel that drives me nuts, but is actually really unobtrusive. GPS was a bust, but the vulcan neck pinch seems to have worked. I really do not know what to do. I am loving this tablet but the pixel is becoming/an obsession. Pixel fixer apps don't seem to work. Any suggestions?
Just received mine today and it is a BC model working flawlessly! Mine is the 32gb champagne model.

From where?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Myself and my other half are in the process of buying a new house and she is sending some pictures of various sections of the house.
The only problem is that the pictures are coming though but just slightly larger than a postage stamp.
Any fixes for this?
Also happening to me... and can't confirm where the problem is.

Order my Nexus 9 on Monday from the play store with Overnight shipping. Got the Tablet Tuesday. Noticed that the the left half of the screen has vertical purple/pink stripes on it. Mostly notable on lighter screens, white/light grey/grey. Looks to be either the screen defective of gpu, not sure. It is a 32gb Black tablet. Work is getting about 10 more in over the next couple of days so going to see if anymore have the issue. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
Already put in a RMA this morning through Google and will send this one back and get a new one. Will try and see if i can get anything to show up on a picture to post it here.
EDIT: to better clarify, it seems like every other row of pixels is the discolored Pink/Purple. So there are a good amount of Stripes. Seems to be consistently every other row of pixels. Will try and get a picture

Do Google take money (rma) or just put a hold on your bank account just in case you do a runner?
They put a pending charge on your card. Buy it will never post as long as you return the bad one.
Hi,
i've discovered a small dark spot on my Display. Everything works ok, the dark spot shows the right colors but a bit darker than on the rest of the screen. (see Attachments)
I've 2 month of warranty left, but if i send it to Sony i'll have to pay ~25$ if it's not covered by the warranty.
The spot isn't worse, but if you know it is there, you see it!
Does anyone know what it is? Should i send it to Sony?
Thanks for your replies!

Send it to Sony. I had dead pixels on my display before and a space looking effect on black backgrounds with max brightness. I did a live chat with Sony and they said send it in and within a week or 2 it was fixed and I didnt have to pay anything. If your still unsure use the live chat with Sony or email them the images im sure that will help. I no longer have my Z2 tablet anyway as I have upgraded to a z4 tablet but I did like my time with it. I recommend you contact them and send it off.
