Hello o'great Xda Community
My Galaxy S6 Edge seem charge slower than other phones connected to my Macbook Pro Retina. Have any of you had a similar experience?
It was actually my friend with a normal S6 that noticed the issue first with his phone, so I know at least one more have this problem.
Background:
OSX reports that the phone negotiated 96 mA and 500 mA is available. Any other phone I have connected to it reports 500 mA negotiated.
I confirmed the charge with the android app battery monitor. I used my Nexus 5 for comparison.
What I find interesting is that the phone charges properly connected to my two Windows machines i.e around 400 mA.
How to:
It would be great if those of you with macs could look what OSX reports to you.
You find the information by navigating to here in OSX: apple -> About this mac -> System report ... -> Hardware -> USB -> SAMSUNG_Android
Thanks on beforehand!
Same here, Galaxy S6e only charges with 96 mA on my MBP 15" 2015 with El Capitan. Other Android Phones charge with 500 mA. Furthermore, my S6e charges normally ie. 500 mA on all Windows machines.
Anyone found a fix for this?
Use a real charger, there is little point plugging into a PC tbh, would take hours and hours to charge.

The stock charger from Samsung was for 0.7Amps and it charges ok, but I find it slow.. about ~4 hours to fully change my SGS2 from with less than 10% left of battery life.
If I plug into the laptop, it takes like ~6 hours due to the slow trickle charge with 0.5Amps.
I don't know what the max pull is allowed on this phone, but I did find that when I charge with a 1Amps charger, I can get it from less than 10% to full in about ~3hours.
So, I tried a few such charges and have noticed some strangeness.. (all with the same test conditions, start charging with less than 10% and with the stock usb cable for the phone)
1) older Belink ac-usb 1Amps out put, it does seem to charge the phone good and faster finishing around ~3 hours ... but, when charging, the touch sensitivity of the screen is out of whack, any subtle movement, will cause the screen to jump around.. like in gallery, trying to select an individual pic is difficult as the screen jumps around; forget about using the browser and selecting links...not sure why..
2) HTC thunderbolt charger 1Amps output (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003WM6SOU).. same issue here, charges faster, but makes the screen jump around
3) iPhone charger 1Amps output; this seems to work the best for me so far.. charges faster ~3hours and while charging the screen behaves normally, I am able to use gallery and browser fine...
4) iPad 2 charger 5.1 V and 2.1Amps: Still charges the phone ~3 hours, but same side effect...
Anyone else have the screen sensitivity issue and what chargers are you using?
I haven't seen any issue when I used a HP TouchPad Charger rated at 2.0A I think..
Max pull is 650 mA - this is set by the charger chip itself.
If the phone thinks you have a normal USB connection to PC instead of a dumb charger, it will be 400 mA.
Having a charger rated more than this won't hurt, but it won't help.
Monoprice "1A" car chargers are rated 300-400 mA at best - the ONLY monoprice product I've ever been unhappy with in my life.
In general, you want to make sure USB D+ and D- are shorted together by the charger - this guarantees that the phone sees the charger as "dumb" and goes to 650. Exception are media and car docks - whatever you connect to these will be assumed by the phone to be a high current "dumb charger".
All phone power usage (CPU, screen, etc.) counts against this current budget - e.g. if you have 200 mA of load, only 450 will be going into the battery.
Unlike the I9100, we don't appear to have any way to change these charging currents. Our phone, for whatever reason, has an additional chip for charge control (MAX8922) instead of using the charge control built into the main power management chip (MAX8997). This is disappointing, I was really hoping to bring over the "charginghacks" modifications from my Infuse kernel series.
I bought my Pipo w6s 3 days ago and could not find much information nor links to firmware/OS for this tablet. Are there any active owners of a Pipo W6S with or without 3G at XDA?
Presently I am looking into reducing the charging time wodering if the supplied 5V 2.5A Power supply and cable is just to weak to charge/operate at the same time and if a new PS USB cable may improve the situation?[/B]
When I bought my w6s 3 days ago, a shops display model, the battery was also completely empty. Assuming that idle operation may take somewhere from 5 to 10W, this does not provide sufficient energy to operate the tablet and charge it at the same time. I learned this when I waited at the shop, while they downloaded and installed the english language pack for windows for me. Even though the w6s was on the charger for nearly an hour at just 25% brightness it still showed 0% of charge. Back at the hotel I charged the w6s, while it was turned of and it worked, but required several hours.
The battery is about 6A at 3,7 V hence 22 Wh, the power supply is 5V at 2,5 A hence 12.5 W, which allows operation, but not, if any charging is done at all, much charging. I read somewhere charging may take 6 to 7h, so the batteries do not seem to allow for fast charging and would be charged at just about 1A.
Can anyone please check the voltage of your power supply, is it just 5V or higher?
I found that while my Samsung Note 3 on the supplied power supply which has 5.4 V charges faster than on those just having 5V. When operated in the car using a 5V output PS, the Note 3 operating as GPS using sygic never charges, so I assume a PS with a slighly higher Voltage that is within the tolerances of USB may improve charging time. Another variable should be the resistance of the USB cable used, the thinner the cable/higher the resistance the lower the voltage at the w6s input. Since my PS broke on the airplane and the shop did not give me the USB cable I cannot check the manufacterer values.
Anyone any active owner? Do you have any thoughts/information?
PS. did your W6s come with any Trojans/viruses or such unpleasant things?
Hi I have these model also.
My tablet comes with 50% battery. I think the main problem for me is tree the low battery and the little support that I find for these model. I have a charger of my t100 and the tablet charges ok
Hi all, I have problem with my HDX 7 Unlock BL and Recovery TWRP 3.0.0.
About from ten days up to now, my HDX 7 charge very slow with any charge HTC, Xiaomi, LG (I can not try with original HDX Charge which due to loss it some months ago). I use CM 12.1 dated 10 Jun 16 and also try all CM11 roms. When plug charge to HDX, I check information in Battery section of Setting that has report "charging by USB" but few seconds next change status to "not charging" and again and again.
What is the problem? How can I fix it?
Many thanks any comments.

My kindle charge slow and PC won't detect.
I have the problem that PC can't detect my kindle hdx7. And my tablet charges slowly with wall charger.
This is because one day I charged it with my Quick Charger 2.0. I think that was the reason, and charging circuit has been damaged.
Is it be a real cause?
Does any one has the solution?

Highly doubt the charging circuit is damaged. Nor is it likely a visit with the Quick Charger triggered the anomaly. Far more probable is a problem with the USB cable and/or the USB socket on the HDX. Loose connectors are common especially if care is not taken when plugging/unplugging. Lack of a data connection support this opinion.
Reboot your HDX and try a different USB cable. What is the wall charger rating (should be on the back represented in mAh)? 3rd gen HDX devices can accept charge rates up to 1800 mAH although using a 'stronger' charger won't hurt provided the voltage rating is the industry standard 5V.
Hi
Thanks Davey126
.
I purchased this tab from a local shop. I tested it on shop, everything was fine.
But when I bring home, and I connected it with my Sony QC 2.0 and I observed charging was slow. I ignored it.
Next day I connect with my pc to copy some movies, but computer didn't respond. I tested my tab with different data cables and on another PC, but no success. Then I did Factory reset, but no difference.
.
I went to shop and got exchange the tab. At shop I tested charging, and PC connectivity. Everything was working fine at there.
I got back home, and again connected with my QC 2.0 charger (until then i did not know the cause). This time I see tab show SLOW charging.
I connected to my PC, same issue, no any detection. Tab only show charging when connected to PC. I repeated all possibilities again to resolve the issue.
At last, I assumed that it was because it may be due to miscommunication between device and charger, and maybe 9V damaged the charging circuit of the Tab.

The Quick Charge standard allows for connection to older devices that do not support QC technology. In that case the charger should limit output to 5V as a significantly higher voltage would likely damage the charging circuit. Either the HDX did not communicate its capabilities properly or the charger cranked up the voltage when it should have remained at 5V.
The maximum charge rate for 3rd gen HDX device is ~9 watts (5V x 1.8A). Yet many vendors target this device for 18W+ QC 2.0 chargers that supposedly reduce charge times by 50% (they won't). Despite the faux claims there does not appear to be widespread complains of device damage. It would appear your Sony 2.0 QC charger may be defective.

Thank you for your concern and collect info about HDX7.
I am a little-known of Quick Charger mechanism. "9V or 12V and 5V". QC 3.0, 4 or 4+. [A Quick Charger does not damage a normal 5V device.]
I charge all my home devices with Sony UHC10 quick charger. I think my charger is working normal as I do not see any abnormal behavior of it.
.
I can not find any other reason to damage my Tab.
Now my question is that, "is there any (alternative) way to resolve slow charging, also PC sync.
Thank you again!

Recommend acquiring a 'standard' 5V wall charger with a 2A minimum rating. This will permit your HDX to charge at the maximum rate (~1.8A) assuming the USB cable is in good shape. Performing this test will help determine if the charging circuit in your device is operating properly.
Most computers/laptops can only deliver a fraction of the maximum charge rate: ~0.5A for USB2 ports; ~0.9A for USB3.

After realizing this problem I am using 2.1A branded charger, but still slow charging.
With Ampere app it shows max 280mA (same as UHC10). It means it is charging at standard rate of 500mA.
Changing the cables does not make any difference. (I have ANKER data cable)
THANKS

Anker cables have a solid reputation. That said, I would double check with another cable.
If cable and charger seem ok then it boils down to termination points (USB connections {should be snug}), imbedded charging circuit and/or kernel. There is nothing you can do about the kernel on a stock HDX. Nor can the charging circuit be repaired short of main/daughter board replacement.
Long shot suggestion: fully power down device and restart after 5-10 seconds. This will insure the bootloader/kernel are fully reset.
BTW - info I provided on QC standards and HDX capabilities are primarily from direct experience backed up by supporting documentation. This isn't just theoretical - I have a handful of HDX devices along with numerous USB meters as charging circuit efficiency (and deficiencies) is something of a personal interest.
@Davey126
Thank you very much
And big thumbs up :good:
I'll try it tonight and then update you as earlier as possible.
@Davey126
I drained my tab battery and then recharge it again but no difference. It woke up after 5 minutes. Still very low rate charging. Ampere app shows 280mAh maximum.
Meanwhile I brought my cousin's (same) tab. With 2.1A it shows +1500mAh on Ampere app. I drained it's battery, and when started charging, it was charging normally. Again in Ampere app @ +1500mAh.
.
I do not want to damage it's charging circuit. So I will not connect it with Sony UHC10.
So it is clear that charging circuit is damaged,in my tab.
If I find any solution, I'll share it here. Till then I'll use it by charging whole night (for 6 hours) everyday. Because it takes 6 to 8 hours to charge 100%.
.
Thank you for your cooperation.
It appears that this tablet is finicky when it comes to charging. Fast chargers give it a slower current than slow chargers do.
Anybody else noticing that?
It's not intended to use Qualcomm quick charge, no support for it. You'll see faster performance with chargers intended for iPads or say they're 'smart'. They'll detect the preferred power requirements and allow the maximum charge speed. Also keep in mind the quality of the USB wire will affect charge speed as well.
I have the same issue. Although the tablet doesnt support Qualcomm QC, it should still be backwards compatible and be able to put out a high current. I've used my QC charger with other non QC devices and it charges them all quickly. However with this device, it charges extremely slowly.
I think the issue is on the device side. Whatever method it is using to detect the type of charger that is plugged in clearly does not work very well and it is self-limiting the amount of current it wants to draw. Like when it thinks its plugged into a computer USB port.
As for the cable, I've used with with several other devices so I don't think it is the issue.
Now years ago, I seem to recall that many phones will look at the data lines. If they are shorted or open (can't remember) then it assumes it is not connect to a computer USB port and therefore it is ok to draw full current. So people started selling "charge only" usb cables. These days with all the various quick charge capabilities, I think the data lines are used to communicate low level information to configure the quick charge. Maybe this tablet is still using the old method and getting confused by the more advanced chargers.
Have the Galaxy s 20 ultra. Have a Samsung 15 watt wireless charger with fast charge 2.0. are there any other 15 watt wireless chargers on the market that actually work at the same speed? I have others labeled 15 watt that really deliver a lesser wattage consistent with fast charge 1.0
May I have a look this charger?
No. All 15W chargers other than Samsung genuine will deliver 7.5W
I thought they made a 45w charger or is that only for the S20 Ultra
Anker makes one that will do 10w for the s20's, and some 3rd party off brands make claims they will do 10w but id be skeptical.
I cruised Amazon for about an hour and didn't see any that state they will do 15w for Samsung phones. There are 15w ones but will only do that for Huawei and LG.

Thank you! Well I have the exact model (2503) but it doesnt work for me. I mean, if i connect it to the usb pc port (so 5W) or to the Samsung A51 power adapter (which is certified for fast charging) it takes the same exact time to charge, and of course if i connect it to the A51 charger it says rapid wireless charge on the android notification bar (while if i connect it to the pc it doesnt).
I opened a thread here yesterday: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s20/help/slow-wireless-charge-s20-ultra-t4145659
Do you have any idea why it happens? Yesterday it took me 2 hours 15 minutes to go from 68% to 100%, thats like 6 hours half for 0-100% cycle, which is about the same time it usually takes when i connect the wireless pad to the PC usb port. I really dont understand why it always works at 5W (even tho android says its rapid wireless). Thanks a lot...

A PC USB is not the same as a fast charger. They have set output voltage and amps.

Your math is probably bad because new phones don't charge lineary, it charges faster and then slower and slower towards the end.

Yes, thats what I said. Anyway i wrote to Anker and they acknowledged that there are problems with their wireless chargers and S20 ultra.
