Battery drop after full charge - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing crazy battery drop after a full charge. My phone drops from 100% to 80% in like 20 minutes every time. After it gets to 80% the battery drain stops.

Phone switching off randomly

Anyone else notice that when you're on the phone and the battery reaches around 10% the phone switches off? Today it also happened at around 17%. Then when i switch it back on it switches off again

yes, it does so always. I check juice plotter battery graph and when it reaches 15% fall down to 0 and turns off. If I turn on, battery shows 15% again, sometimes turns off immediately, sometimes keep until the battery discharges completely!
It's a great dilemma, I think I will reflash soon
Its weird though, it only seems to happen whilst on the phone not on standby or wen using for texting or browsing

XDA Official App is draining my battery!

I just noticed that XDA app was draining my battery! I charged my phone this morning to 100% and 6 hours later my battery was down to 78%. I did NOT use the phone AT ALL (no text, no calls, no nothing) and the screen was off all the time. When I checked my battery usage, I saw that XDA app was using 25% of my battery?!
Anyone notice a similar thing?

Xperia P Battery

Does anybody know why there's a boost in battery % when the phone reboots?
Is it a software bug or a battery problem?

mine does that to with 1.54 software...
Even worst, last night I've left my phone charging and when I checked it this morning it had 1% lol wtf?... it stayed 12hours plugged in... rebooted it and it started charging again.
Going back to stock rom from the carrier... or .544 file.

Nonsence , i started using the stock kernel and i got AMAZING battery life , it surpasses double the sustainability ...
*note the spikes that go up is not me charging , sometimes when i look at the phone for example is 25 % and when i wake it up after an hour or so its like 30 % , idk why this happens but it happend like 3-4 times
Well... Don't know why then. ..
Maybe i have a defective phone or battery.
Anyway, i just flashed again the .544 firmware, updated through ota to .54 , and didn't root this time just to check things out.
Either i have a software issue or defective phone/phone charger.
I noticed someone telling that the phone should charge in about one hour and mine doesn't do that. The two times i charged it, it took a lot longer. In almost two hours it reached about 70%.. so there is/was something definitely wrong.

i kept my XP switched off for an hour and in that time its battery percentage decreased from 97% to 85%
weird
Yeah...do you have your phone rooted?

its about calibration, you use it, it drains more, so it shows % of battery remaining like using, turn sleep mode for a while, battery will calibrate and show you more % because phone doesnt drain much

I understand your point of view but that does not make any sense, since no other brand does that type of reading.
I'm sure it is a software glitch or malfunction that causes.
The remaining battery % is the battery you have left. I've never heard of a % if you use it and % if it's idle, and IMHO doesn't make sense.
If anyone could confirm this, would be great.
tks
I also experience a boost of 1-2% when I leave the phone idle for hours..But the flickering values during reboot-isnt that an inefficient usage of the battery by the OS? Can it b fixed? It sucks to reboot the phone often to increase my battery...But it only works around 2-3 times in a single charge session..after that it drops during reboot

casca-the phone charging fully in an hour is simply bogus...It takes an extra 1-2 hrs after hitting 100% to reach the "Battery Full" state..

Yeah mate, true. Mine takes about 50 minutes to reach 80% and another 60 minutes to reach 100%.
From what i have read on a couple of reviews the Xperia P has quick charge mode until the battery reaches about 80%
The Battery can b made more efficient..the extended standby mode is a life saver,..but what's the point of not using the phone?...wish the "extra charge" during reboot gets fixed when jb releases..What's the maximum backup for u all? I once got around 50 hrs,via frequent reboots...

Android 4.0.4 may have this problem
So, there's no fix right?
i have xperia p and sometimes when i put it on charger for example when its down to 3% it starts to charge but not raising percentage but when i reboot it shows real status.so its charged but somehow percentage bugged
where are you from and what file did you flash? generic world or central europe?
normal problem
I think it's a normal "problem",
while rebooting it's clearing the battery-cache.
and it's not only on your Xperia P, it's on iPhone too

Same here ics is so bugged..what does it take for Sony to give a clean version...JB might b even worse...
it was actually weirder than that guys... the phone was loosing battery % with the charger on!
for instance, if I pluged the phone at 40% at night, in the morning i would have 1% of battery... so, not only was the phone not showing the charge going up, it was actually showing it going down! lol
anyway, I think it has been solved and I the problem was I've flashed the generic world version instead of central europe one.
tks for the posts.

Battery drain (Important help quick please)

I was in England last week and I noticed on the last 2 days my battery not only drained itself much faster than usual, but it also recharged slower. When I got back home, I noticed if my phone was plugged in, and I used it, it still lost battery! I use the original charger, one thing I noticed after my trip though, was the two "blades" we plug in were closer to each other (they weren't parallel anymore) I kind of pushed them back to place but anyone can see the blades are slightly moved
Please help me auick this is very important!
EDIT : Usually I recharge my phone from 23h to 6h45,but today I noticed it only recharged when the phone is Off, and very slowly, it only made it to 51% merely adding the sentence cost 2% of battery while docked..

Probably the battery itself is dying?
S3 should be filly charged within 3,4 hours in most.
Or you may need to recalibrate your battery?
I have been into some situation like this:
1. 10% charging, after one time reboot it goes up to 50%, just in minute.
2. Battery from 95% drops to 50% with rate of 2% - 3% per minute.
What I do: drain battery to 0% and start fully charged it into 100% and then it seems to be fine through...

Phone dying before 1-5 percent.

Hey guys I'm on the DNA and just having this issue that's bothering me. Before I use to be able to get the phone to 1 percent and then charge not a big deal I like to get it between 1-5 percent before charging now it dies prematurely around 6 percent and just makes me think something is being read wrong. I've wiped that battery stats already and some cycles but same issue. Any suggestions? Could my battery be going bad?

One way a battery will show you it is bad (works on all batteries that aren't round in design) is it will have a slight bulge. In other words it will not be completely flat anymore.
When a battery goes bad, it's cell(s) will swell. I have had my fair share of phone batteries go bad.
Usually another way to see if a battery is going bad is it will lose % rather quickly. I had one that would go from 70% to 20% in seconds.
From what you said is your habit (using it down to 1% every time before charging it) leads me to believe it may be starting to go bad, as most lithium based batteries don't handle full drains that well. (It drastically shortens their life).
TL/DR? Check to see if your battery has a bulge, see if it drops or gains % really quickly, and try not to drain it to completely dead all the time.

On this phone HTC DNA battery is internal so no way for me to look
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Mine did that too after having it for about 10 months... I think it is just the beginning signs of the battery starting to wear out (I assume it will get worse as more charge cycles happen) which is normal for all batteries... I had to get a new dna (I broke my charging port) and the new one has no problems anymore.

Full discharges is a fantastic way to drastically shorten the life of your battery. While I have never let it go below 10% and cannot tell you if my phone would do the same thing... I'd suggest that you stop letting yours get low enough that you experience this anyway.
