Hi all!
I've been trying to fix my Asus fonepad K012 (FE170CG) all morning. I derped trying to root it and now I require to flash it back to a stock firmware supplied by Asus. Thus far I have been able to get my hands on the original firmware however I have not been able to find an effective tutorial how to flash it. I know I am posting in the wrong sub forum, however after 6 hours I am pretty much at loss here ... Can anyone help me, please?

I have the same problem. I tried to flash the stock firmware but the problem remains. My advice is not to flash stock firmware! But if the Demo error pops up very frequently, I can help you flash the stock firmware.
Good luck!

To shed some light on what happened ...
I had updated the fonepad to 4.4 kitkat. Afterwards I used rootzenfone 1.4.6 to root it, it failed and it it started acting like I described above.
For days I looked into what I could do and how to resolve it ... Finally I found the solution to my problem.
1. Downgrade the fonepad 7 K012 back to Jelly Bean 4.3. (You can do this by putting the 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware on the root of your mini SD card, label it k012_sdupdate.zip, switch off the fonepad, boot using the power + volume up combination to get into droidboot, select SD update and let it do it's thing.
2. Once it's completed the fonepad will be downgraded to 4.3, however this isn't the end of it, the asus live demo problem still persists, so you must use rootzenfone 1.4.2 or 1.4.4 to complete the rooting process in order to get rid of it once and for all.
3. For me? It was successful and as I rebooted it got stuck in bootloop. So then I flashed the firmware utilizing ADB's fastboot with the following commands:
fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash splashscreen splashscreen.img
4. Rebooted and my troubles were over. However I really wanted to root it ... So I went total nerdmode on xda and finally found a way to root it.
5. Follow these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58782588&postcount=219
6. Enjoy the fat lady's song ...

Well your first issue was you had not done any research before doing anything. Had you, you would know you can't take ota with a custom recovery. It has to be stock. Your only options are to flash a stock rom if one was ever released for the device. If not then you might be out of luck.
How do flash back?

Dear Developers and Users
I have moto E xt1021 some time ago. Once it happen that my phone Android crashed then I successfully flashed back new kitkat 4.4.4.
My phone worked fine and even checked if there is any software updates, I think this was my mistake. Then I upgraded to Lollipop 5.0.2.
Also I installed CWM recovery but as a beginner, did not thought of backing up all my data, another mistake because all my data are gone now.
Every thing was fine for about one month. Suddenly, last week my phone starts freezing and not responding to any touch.
Well, the quick solution is re-start. But it never came back again to more than the Moto logo.
Depending on what I was reading since last week, I think my phone is brick now, hopefully soft, because the situation of my phone is as follows
Stops by Moto logo when pressing power on.
I can go to the Bootloader menu.
I can see my CWM-recovery menu. But from here I am not able to flash new ROM, Stock, or even recovery.
My phone is unlocked and rooted as far as I remember, I hope it is still.
and the most important part:
USB debugging mode WAS NOT ENABLED before it crashes and it still not enabled.
I installed on my PC SDK, fastboot and ADB tools, Motorola Drivers.
I have been trying for a week now several tens of threads but unfortunately never succeeded to bring it back working.
I don't care for my data now. Important to get alive.
I am sorry for the long thread. I tried to put all information needed and hope nothing is missing that clarify this problem. BTw, I bought my phone from Germany.
Any help or recommendation what to do would be highly appreciated, Especially with enabling the USB DEBUGGING MODE which I think is the key solution.
Thanks in advance
Sadam.
What about: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755857
If you can boot your phone into fastboot mode you should be fine. Just follow the flashing tutorial.
Alternatively, if you can only get into cwm recovery there is an option in moto e android development to restore to android 5.

Thanks for your answer am2012
I followed this tutorial and many other similar threads.
It gives me always the same error whenever I ran command with mfastboot.exe (I mean the whole bunch of mfastboot commands). Please check the error.jpg in the attachment. Maybe some one have seen such error and how to solve it.
Could be also something to do with the partition of my device ? If yes, Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks

So you can actually boot into cwm recovery not just bootloader?
Can you take a picture of your phone in recovery? I might have an idea.
I asked a friend and he said go to bootloader and flash 4.4.4 using adb. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759495 You must flash 4.4.4, not earlier or phone will brick.

It's a little beyond me now. I have found this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYjQePBRzhk
Let me know if it is any good?
If you search for the error codes there are lots of results on google.
I've recently tried to upgrade my venue 3840 to 4.4.4 after unlocking the bl and rooting on 4.4.2 but it seems to be a giant pain in the ***. I've downloaded the system image tried flashing it via fastboot with the line fastboot flash system system.img but of course it complains about max image size and once I do get it going, it gives me command errors. Yes, I've tried redownloading and all, no change. I've even tried creating a rom with the inside of the system image and I believe the problem is my updater binary/script. I was just wondering if I could get any help. The tablet isn't booting because again of course things don't always go as planned. I know I can unbrick or 'go back to stock' with dells way however I really don't feel like redoing my data.
I got the 4.4.4 files from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001604343 <- this one includes the system extracted
This one includes the system image and boot img https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001602440
If anyone is able to possibly turn this into a rom or even direct me in the right direction, that'd be greatly appreciated! If not, completely understandable. Thank you for your time!
Or if someone could possibly make a stock wiped back up of 4.4.4 , that'd be great as well!
update: got the tablet to boot with a stock 4.4.2 zip from dell however still looking to be able to update to 4.4.4 if possible, thanks!
And apparently I was able to take out the system and boot in the dell source http://opensource.dell.com/releases/Venue_8_3840_Merrifield/developer-edition/A195/OTA/ and replace it with the 4.4.4 system / boot. I have a bootable 4.4.4 rom. If it's needed for any purposes let me know. Sorry for the basically pointless thread lmao. You'd be amazed at how long it took me to solve this. :silly:
Can you please upload the ROM you created? Was it an AOSP build?
Thanks!
Hi,
Sorry to reply to an old thread. Could you provide some details on what you've done exactly?
I have the same tablet lying around collecting dust since Dell's stock OS is absolute garbage. I am trying to build an AOSP ROM for it just for the sake of experimenting. Could you please help me out?
Thanks for your time.
Okay so I am not completely noob on Android but man Motorola is hard cake.
I have Moto g turbo edition running lineage os 14. Which is consuming battery like crazy and I wanted to go back to stock rom mm.
Now as any guy would do I downloaded stock file for my device from XDA and tried following the fastboot instructions which gives preflash validation error. So on skipping the got.bin didn't help and almost all command came with same error. I tried RSD tool and all in one Moto tool with no success whatsoever.
And now phone is acting weird like it starts on bootloader and have to press Start button for it to start(but it is starting and working though).
The phone is only in India and Mexico maybe so it's hard to find device specific instructions. Though what I've found that the flashing guide asks to wipe data with stock recovery! I didn't get that. So for following instructions do I need to first get stock recovery and than wipe everything ? I didn't tried it because than I'll get into deep trouble of nandroid backup restoration if everything goes to sh*t. Please help I'll provide any help needed .thank you very much
