I did a factory reset from recovery on my EVO because it wouldn't boot. Now, I seemed to have lost root access. I can still boot into custom recovery and am S-Off.
I downloaded SuperSU from the play store, and get the message (There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem) when I try to open it.
What do I need to do to regain root access?
Thanks for the help.
Play store won't help you. You need to flash supersu zip from recovery.
Google "update supersu 1.94 zip".

Thanks, then do I need to download it from the Play Store? I flashed it successfully, booted up and the one that was in my app list (from the Play Store) is now gone. Rooter Checker still shows I don't have root access.
Yes you need to reinstall the app.

Flashing that zip should have worked. I question if you were using the right zip file. Do you see it in your apps on your phone?
Here's the URL I use:
http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU
Sometimes if you run root checker too soon after booting into the ROM, it will time out while waiting for permission from SuperSU and falsely conclude that you do not have root. If you're busy doing other stuff afterwards, you very well may have missed the popup where root checker asked for root permissions. If that's the case, when you go into SuperSU you should see root checker listed with red text, which would indicate that root checker was denied root permissions. If this is what you see, select that entry from SuperSU and change the setting from deny to grant. Rerun root checker.
If that doesn't work, please provide more information about your system?

HTC Dev unlocked?
S-off method?
if you run or install TWRP custom recovery it will flash supersu for you when you run it.
I have flashed stock lolipop on my phone but i'm unable to root it.. i tried flasing supersu through recovery bt when i open supersu app it gives error "Binary not install and SuperSU cannot install Binary "
help me out
thanks in advance
Try looking under developer options and then find where it says root access, click on apps and adb and hopefully you have root back.

First you should have TWRP 2.8.2.0 or 2.8.5.0 (I haven't tested 2.8.5.0 so I don't know). Then download this file: SuperSU 2.46
Then Flash it via TWRP recovery. Should be working.
Cheers!!
If I Helped you, don't forget to hit the Thanks Button!!!
I am wondering if the following method will allow root while keeping OTA:
1) Unlock with HTCDev
2) Only boot into TWRP (not flash it as permanent recovery): Fastboot boot twrp.img
3) Once booted into TWRP, install supersu
Then should OTA updates work, after which you only have to repeat steps 2 & 3?
My intent is to just get root access for apps like WiFi Tether Router.
If you install SU, the OTA will not work. SU modifies the system which will cause an OTA to fail.

Besides the reply above...
Someone suggested this in another thread and could not get TWRP to directly boot.
I rooted my xperia sola using kingroot and tried to replace kinguser with supersu.
Simply installed supersu ,doesnt works!
Tried wolfdroid script,doesnt works!
It simply unistalls kingroot and installs supersu but binary installation failed!
I dont have a custom recovery installed.
I have read somewhere mounting
r/o can work, I tried with root browser end up loosing root!
Somebody help providing complete details.
Any help would be appreciated
By the way i'm using
Xperia sola
Stock 4.0.4 ics Rooted with kinguser
Build 6.1.1.B.1.54
Locked bootloader

Hello,
I recently used the flash image portion of TWRP 2.8.7.? to update to TWRP 3.0.2 for my jfltevzw I545VRUAMDK phone. After reboot, it wouldn't go into recovery saying "SECURE BOOT: KERNEL" in the upper left and a warning about “System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone.”
I've tried DD'n new supposedly loki'd recoveries directly, with no luck.
Also tried TWRP Manager and ROM Manager.
Also flashed back a copy of 2.8.7 via ODIN.
Any ideas how I can get this unlocked and booting back into TWRP?
I have the exact same issue... What's your selinux status?

I tried that, no luck. I ended up flashing back to stock, re-rooting, re-loki'n and flashed 3.0.2. with no problems.
