[Q] Issue installing ZVA (OTA, via ADB, or SD Card) - Sprint LG G3

I have rooted stock LS990 on ZV8. I got the OTA upgrade to ZVA, but it would not install with an error. I am getting the same error also via ADB or SD-Card:
"/system/bin/install-recovery.sh" has unexpected contents.
Error in /sideload/package.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted
Not sure what is wrong with either that package or my G3?
If anyone has applied this update without problems, please let me know. I want to know if something is not right with my device.

You have to have stock recovery to use the update.zip. do you have twrp?

Everything is stock. No custom recoveries, no custom rom. It is just rooted. When ZV8 OTA came it installed just fine.

Kies won't work with custom Rom......in fact forget kies ever existed, it is widely recognized as an unreliable POS!
Put the Update ZIP onto your SDCARD and try the install and also check the size of the zip file
I had a similar issue, my download didn't throw an error in CWM, but when I flashed it and rebooted I was greeted with constant force closes (so much, so quickly that I couldn't finish pressing ok). Went back into CWM and did a complete wipe and flashed again. No boot. I only got my s3 on Saturday so I was scared sh**less. After a quick trip to the bathroom to calm down I figured out the zip was corrupt and restored to a CWM backup then restored a TiBp. Flashed WanamLite with the theme linked in the OP instead. I wasn't really emotionally stable enough to try flashing criskelo again...
On another note, I always check MD5's but I couldn't find any for v6.0.1 of criskelo's ROM? Can anyone point me in the right direction? I just wanna confirm that the zips were corrupt..

Use Google for your contacts in future! Then they are safe in the cloud! Only way I know is flash back to stock
flash back to stock, restore contacts using kies to your phone then either backup to google a/c or memory card
i chose the memory card option as restoring from google always gives me duplicate contacts. its the only way i think
Guess I will have to go back to the old rom and flash again. Thanks everyone for the tips.
I`ve been lazy to look into cloud stuff for like a year now =P... really stressing year... guess I can`t run from it now lolz.

Softbrick after OTA - Need help with Status 7

Hello and thanks for any help.
I softbricked my phone trying to install the OTA, so in an attempt to recover, I ran Razr util 1.82, selected option 1, and let it install. Then, while in recovery, I attempted to install the full JB update, and get the following error message:
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("EMMC:boot:8388608:46b1d867743b5 a4db403dc2cd67a124cbd2b2173:8388608:7abc93a
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
Anyone have any experience with this error? I've tried to troubleshoot the JB package and downloaded 3 different .zip's - has not changed or solved the problem.
Currently without a phone and hoping my phone is still salvageable! Any advice?

Ive tried flashing both following EillonCross directions using the same twrp as he did but it still failed. im trying it with 2.6.3.7 and having unable to mount usbstorage. with 2.6.3.2 i was unable to load anything from my external sdcard. If someone has a way to flash the m15 rom could you please let me know if there is a small detail im missing or something. Baseband says m13 still and software does as well. :/ btw im installing both the firmware update and rom.

Haven't experienced the TWRP issue but I was able to make a nandroid backup with TWRP and it mounted external SD (haven't tried to restore), but regarding your issue. I installed Wanam Xposed to fake my status from Custom to Official and did an OTA update from M13 to M15. I lost root and used chainfire again to fix it (I originally updated to get the native hotspot working since it's for M15 only). Hope that helps!

Make sure you install the exposed framework, the link is in the description on the play store. Once installed, make sure to update it under framework settings, then activate the xposed module under module settings. Now you'll have access to flag it as official
Did both those steps and it is still not sticking I'm confused like no other at this point lol. I do appreciate the replys. Still trying to figure it out so if you think of something I'll be watching this thread.

I can only guess that your SU is not working properly, are you getting the prompts to gain root access? worst case, reinstall superuser.
Yea su is working. Prompts for su access when I open root apps.

Which recovery are you using? If using clockwork mod, you need to disable signature verification. Otherwise, twrp should work fine.

Within that same link I provided above, follow the instructions on how to run the RUU. The RUU will put your Jetstream back to completely stock.

Download the one with Cingular in the name and yes, your device will be 100% percent stock. The only think that won't change is that the security flag will remain S-OFF, but that won't affect anything.

Lollipop factory upgrade zip.

Here is the factory update zip. One may be able to flash it from stock recovery (will need to be renamed to "update.zip"), but no promises. I'm hoping a dev can take advantage of it.

Any ways I can get this to work without having to odin back to stock? Just so much of a hassle I'd like to avoid if at all possible.

I know how to pull the update.zip. I did it for the previous update. Samsung has it encrypted. You have to act like you are gonna install the update and soon as it is done preparing to install it wants to reboot in to stock recovery to install. That's when you have to do a battery pull and use your pc to pull the unencrypted zip. Going of of bad memory but it's something like that. I know the reason everyone get a corrupt update.zip is its encrypted and the install will unencrypt just before install. Once install is aborted the proces will delete the files making you re download the update.

OK. Good to know.
UPDATE!
DId the odin MK4 but everything was kept, no resetting/reinstalls required!
Then was able to download the update and all is well.
Does anybody know how to trigger the ota process if you have an update.zip on the device?
My device has modified bootloader, so I'm not eligible for OTA... but with Wanam Exposed you can fake Offical status, and it'll download the OTA, but fail to install.
If before it fails, you copy the update.zip from /data/fota/update.zip .. then you have a copy.
My issue now though is that the normal OTA process won't let me continue with the OTA dialogs... and if I try to flash the zip in stock recovery, it can't seem to open it.
Is there a way to trigger the Samsung OTA process, with root, and have it properly process and unencrypt the update.zip upon flashing?
Cheers!

Pulling the copy corrupts it.
To get to lollipop you have to factory reset, odin to nk4 then accept ota.
