Rooting the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active (G890A) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings everyone, I've recently picked up an AT&T Galaxy S6 Active, and AT&T has graciously sent me the unlock code. I'd like to provide Chainfire the recovery.img file to see if he can unleash some magic for those of us hoping to root this phone. Unfortunately I'm too new to the game to know how to extract the recovery.img from my phone.
As an aside, I'm using the SM-G890A on T-Mobile now, and I'm super pleased with the way the phone works. It's extremely fast with data on the T-mobile network, and unlocking and configuring it was easy with T-mobile's help. The battery is ridiculous. Love this phone and hope to Root it one of these days!

[Q] Flash L9 Metro PCS to Tmobile?

A friend of mine has tasked me to help him as I have some experience with rooting, unlocking etc from other Android phones. Someone sold him a Metro PCS version of the LG Optimus L9 and he has a family plan on T-Mobile. He wants to give this phone to his daughter. Anyways, Since the phone runs on the T-Mobile network, is it possible to flash the phone so that he can put it on his T-Mobile plan? I have looked through the forums and have not found anything of this nature but I do apologize if I have missed it. It is not necessary to go into great detail for this, I jsut want to know if it is possible and a good place to start if it is possible. Thanks for your time!

The only thing I can assume would work is tp buy an unlock code on ebay or amazon and unlock it. t-mobile blows where I am so I unlocked my phone and am now on att
Sent from a Crackhead Donkey
im sure it would work. i have a rooted tmobile branded L9 using a slightly modified metro rom with a tmo sim. it actually shows metro under about phone/network. it is rooted. so if u havent already tried a puting a tmo sim in it and seeing if it worked then rooting might be your answer.

[Q] Verizon to T-Mobile Galaxy S5

After 10 years with Verizon, I had enough (long story)... Switched over to T-Mobile recently with my Verizon Galaxy S5 Phone, however I have a few questions.
When I was on VZW I was able to root with towlroot, installed xPosed, and removed the Verizon bloatware. I then inserted the SIM from T-Mobile and made adjustments to the APN. It all seems to be working fine. I understand I will not get the full bandwidth, and I am OK because it was not worth $600 to purchase a new phone (Actually 3 new phones).
My questions are:
1) Should/Can I install SafeStrap and use one of the T-Mobile ROM, Kernals, etc... to be a "true" T-Mobile mobile phone?
2) Are there any T-Mobile specific APK's I should have?
3) I assume I can not get the wireless calling which T-Mobile uses?
4) Any other tips and trick from people that did the same thing?
So far happy with T-Mobile. Thanks in advance for the help.
..
Thank questions answered. I will search around.

Cleartalk Wireless Flashed i605

Hello all. I am a longtime lurker. Been rooting and crack flashing since the OG Droid and then the ol' T-Bolt. Ifinally got fed up with Big Red and went to a bargain basement cellular provider that can flash phones. Service is not bad but they shut off the 4G access altogether and have no plans to develope it for flashed phones. Just wondering if any of you gurus could help me get my own 4G compatible with their network? I have a Verizon i605 Samsung Galaxy Note II. It is rooted and has custom 4.4.2, specifically R3Ds 5S Port 2.3 final. Any help someone could give me would be awesome! Thanks!

Galaxy S4 with Virgin mobile SIM card HELP!!

Heyo everyone! I need help ASAP. I just upgraded to the S7 and I want to give my S4 to my wife. The tricky bit is, she's on Virgin Mobile. I've heard from multiple sources that the VZW S4 is SIM unlocked and therefore, will work with a VM SIM card.
I was told to add a new APN and I follow all the instructions to the letter, so naturally, nothing is working and it's extremely aggravating. I just want this to work. My wife's current phone is an uber-crappy LG Tribute which barely lasted a few months before it went crazy.
As always, any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
bump...anyone? Am I the only one experiencing this?
virgin mobile is cdma, and I believe the Galaxy s4 is GSM unlocked only

VZM Samsung Galaxy S4 user in the UK

Hi everyone. I am new to the site and the forum. I can't express how grateful I am to all the contributors... I have been doing a fair amount of reading. Still haven't been able to find answers to some questions.
I have an S4 with OF1 ROM. I have been able to root it using KingRoot. I have recently moved to the UK.
My questions are:
1. My phone never picks up a 4G signal, even in areas where my wife's phone does. How can I get around this problem?
2. How do I get rid of the annoying "SIM is not from Verizon" message?
Apologies if these have already been answered.
If you rooted then you can flash Stang5litre's ROM to delete all the Verizon bloat with flashfire (my reccomendation is the Ultranote 5 edition)

Hey there, you have to keep in mind that VZW S4 only supports LTE band 4 so, make sure your carrier has LTE on that band
