Is there a UVU1FOF6 (G900T) root method availavble? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I have been looking for three days and still no luck so I thought I would ask the best... Anybody know if there is a root method for UVU1FOF6 (5.1.1)? I am wary to try and do anything seein as how this is my replacement S5 since my other was stolen in June. This one came with this build and I can't find any literature on this build. Somebody please help because now that this has 5.1.1 it blocks my tethering and so I am limited to hotspot (which I am desperately trying to figure out a way to hide its usage or get my tethering back) and its my only interwebz option since I live in BFE... Any help will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

As of right now there is no unlimited hotspot available for 5.1.1. You can try to down grade to dob1 and try twisted rom 5.0(it leaks but not much) or kitkat.

You may be able to downgrade to 5.0 using odin... there are a few threads about how to flash 5.0 using odin so i would start there...
and this thread contains an optional tether addon zip file, not sure if its unlimited but its an option http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...t/how-to-update-to-g900tof6-5-1-1-pc-t3141404

The only reason I say to hide my usage is idk if it's built into the mod or what but my buddy has a nexus I believe and his mod just doesn't fully register what he's actually using (we easily used 20 gb and it only registered like 129 kb and I like that idea (who wouldn't) but yeah I figured I had to roll back... I was just hopi g there was another way... *grumble*

Apps not recognizing phone as being rooted. Help?

Gents (and ladies),
My phone is rooted, with vanilla 4.3 running. For a reason beyond my level of comprehension, apps are not recognizing the phone as having been rotted (with the exception of Notification Toggle).
I've got some screenshots attached showing the problems I'm encountering, which I'm hoping can get us started on working toward a solution.
If there's any other info you need from me, please let me know.
Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you so much in advance.
This may not even be your case but l know on the note 4.3 roms we had to go in developer options and make sure root access was set to apps and adb for root to function properly hope that helps you with your delima bro.

Also flashing the latest superSU zip may help if that doesn't work.

Heard of this happening on a few other posts... Most were solved by installing the latest version of superSU, like the guy above me says ^^ .
Would definitely start there and come back with the results.

As for the interest its because HTC ports are difficult once you finally get them booted you don't have any data or wireless service only WiFi. The sense and other criticals are deep in the kernel and boot.IMG its not that there's no interest its a high degree of difficulty

Did you actually try that link?? It takes you to the same page with the virus warning I said earlier.
As soon as you hit that page, it's trying to get you to install a player which is NOT what it should do. It SHOULD let you download the ROM file.
Anyone else have a good link please?

Thanks for helping the blind!! I guess I better get a seeing eye dog that can use a computer!
I didn't mean to make you think I was upset, I'm just under a tremendous amount of pressure and stress right now with my business and getting my phone back on line is really adding to the stress. I paid for FEDEX overnight shipping to the repair facility and FEDEX overnight saturday delivery to return it and I have been sitting here all weekend trying to get it back up.The guy who fixed it installed an app (TWRP) I have never seen or used and never told me what it was or what to do with it and he didn't return my calls or emails over the weekend to let me know if it was safe to use it with a custom ROM. I had to search all weekend to find out exactly what it was and how to use it. I'm sure you know how expensive that type of shipping is and to have paid all that and still not have my pohone up on Monday morning was a waste of money.
Thanks so much for the help here. I will be more carefull looking at links from now on.

Rudy,
Thanks again. I am downloading the ROM now, although it's slow and will take 30+ minutes. I have a question. I see that some of these ROMS have the ability to accept OTA updates?
My phone specs are
Verizon Galaxy Note II
Android 4.1.1
I605VRALJB
BUILD # JRO03C.I605VRALJB
I don't want my phone to take any updates EVER!
Can I prevent that from happening?
Do you know what I need to do to accomplish that?
Does Scott's ROM's block OTA updates?
It seems he has discontinued support for the Note II and I 'm not really that good with this and I don't want to have my phone get updated and get locked out again. I just spent a lot of money to get it back to v4.1.1
Thanks for any help with this and thanks again for helping me with the download issue!

Hey Tom,
Any custom rom usually has OTA's from Verizon blocked, Scott's included. The download speed you are experiencing is normal.
When roms say they have OTA capability, it usually means that they have the ability to send their own updates via OTA.
Hope that helps. Also, this thread isn't in the right location--you'd be posting to Q&A or general for this type of question.
Anyway, let me know if you need anything else. Have a great day
I just wanted to thank everyone for their help! I now have Scott's Note II ROM on my phone and it's working great!
I do have one problem though. Somehow I managed to change the keyboard where I type text messages and now it doesn't show the keyboard, but has a writing board or whatever it's called and I can't figure out how to get the qwerty keyboard back? It's a screen where the keys would normally be but you can use your finger or a stylus I guess to write or draw. Can anyone advise me how I get it back to normal?
Thanks again to all!

I also see that what I thought was a defect in the manufacturer's ROM is still occurring in Scott's ROM That's when you have a phone call and you hang up and then it starts playing audio files that you have on your phone. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to stop it?
Thanks

I don't remember that on cleanrom, but it's based on international firmware so there were common issues with a lot of people concerning GPS. Seriously, there's some great roms that are based on Verizon 4.3 and soon you'll see 4.4.2. Why waste your time with a 4.1.2 rom? Like I said smooth rom, Trents rom is excellent, as well as some more feature packed roms that are awesome but may be overwhelming for you at this point. See what's near the top of the list in Android development forum, pick one, and after backing it up try another.

Just root on 4.4.2

Ever since Beans stopped updating his awesome rom I have been looking for a replacement. It seems that there are issues with just about every rom out there. G_p_s, camera not working, or some other deficiency that keeps the rom from being complete.
My question is this:
Is there a way just use the original, Verizon. 442. Update and maintain root? (and keep from having bootloader locked). I don't need all the extra add ons and debloat at the cost of losing my GPS... stock look is fine for now until the other things are sorted.
Thanks for any advice you can offer

Samsung galaxy avant - root?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if maybe anybody over here could help us get root on the new Samsung galaxy avant. Or even give us some pointers on how to obtain root on the device.
I can try to pull any files that are needed and help out any way I can.
Any words of wisdom would be nice, or to tell me to get out of here. That works too. Just needing some more experienced people to help out if at all possible. Thanks ?
I'm trying to get the same info. Just got my Avant and am so used to running custom roms in my other phones. Still have my build from the collective on my S2 but it's about to die and I will get a new S5. But I can't deal with the bloat ware and not having control of my phone. I've had it 24 hours and I'm about to throw it against the wall because all the junk apps and settings. Other than that it might be a good phone .

If you read through that thread, then you know as much as I do, sorry to say. I've been checking other forums as well. The Avant has KNOX, as well as Qualcomm Secureboot. For whatever reason, T-Mobile has locked this device down hard. Nothing is impossible, of course (look at the AT&T/Verizon Note 3/GS5 and Towelroot - which unfortunately doesn't work on the Avant), but it might take some time to find root for the Avant, and maybe even longer for a way that doesn't void your warranty and/or permanently prevent updates.
Yeah, I posted this somewhere else trying to get some people interested but guess it got moved.

Yeah we have it sorted out on the other thread for this. Linked in the above comments
Now that we have root, what's next?
Hi, my Avant is the first phone I've been compelled to root. I had done some research, picked up a few apps that were recommended (i.e. AdFree), using a different launcher, etc..
It's been a great step forward, and now I'm hunting for the next step. Going into ROM Toolbox and deleting everything that looks unnecessary or bloatesque seems like a great way to brick the phone. Is there any way to determine what can be eliminated without catastrophe, or a list of egregious resource hording apps?
When it come to deleting apps I don't think it's possible to brick the phone. You can pretty much delete any app you want and replace it with a third party one. I've removed everything except the launcher, messages, phone, the tmobile app (since I pay my bill through it) etc etc. Just use root Uninstaller and back up any app you might think could cause a problem.

You can root it by using towel root and then after rooting you can download set cpu app from playstore which can increase batterylife or you can increase your phones performance.
Hope it helps!!!!

No you can not. Towel root doesn't work for the avant. Last time I checked anyways.
Easiest way to root it is flash twrp using odin, then flash the newest supersu.zip in twrp.
I'm new
I'm a brand new to all of this and I have a Galaxy Avant that I want to root. I've read thru the threads and am still confused. I can't use towelroot.com on this phone and the apps for rooting in the app store don't work. Do I have to root using a pc or can I do it without one? How??
