Hello everyone.
I want to discuss which version of stock system works smoother.
I was one of these who wanted Lollipop update badly after trying Zaaap's CM12
Then - update came out, I installed it and I am completely dissapointed! Many of You praises 5.0.2 for stunning performance and smoothness, but I can't achieve it. Each time I'm flashing it I got the same, laggy system... What about Your experiences with Lollipop? Am I the only one complaining?
I'm on lollipop for the past month, and i have mixed feelings too. Performance-wise it's ok, apps dont lag or take long to load, but the ram management is a whole other case. This phone, i dont know why, has the WORST ram management i have ever seen. It's been to a point which no apps stay open in the background. Its unusable for multitasking. And i had the same problem with kitkat. I really hope nikita 's 5.1.1 for d620 foxes some of the ram issues, because it's simpky unacceptable. Other pgonea like the moto g have 1 gb of ram, but are far better at multitasking...

I had before this xperia M, first used the official CM 12, after that same official 12.1 (phone has the official support of the CM) .Android 5.1.1 is much much better.5.0.2 is full of errors and unfinished. If g2 mini not gets 5.1. 1 I think to stand on 4.4.2.
Thanks for Your feedback. Maybe we will have a chance to test CM 12.1 on our devices too
5.1.1 ROM is out for D620 & D618 ! Check the android development section.

That's good.I hope in the future some official version:good:
Thanks Kostas for pointing me on this new rom!
Installed it several hours ago and I'm delighted with its stability and smoothness.
That's what I was waiting for!

Honestly, it's the best ROM I have tried too. In 5.1.1 they really fixed 5.0.2 's ram management issues...

There's Cassie's Xtralite ROM and Silent Light available at the moment. Quality is better than quantity.
Try to install Xposed framework. Then install Wanam's module. The link is available in this forum and its 100% compatible to Mega 6.3.
Wanam's module contains numerous popular mods that you can find on most popular custom roms. Just check it yourself.
Personally, what I really want to see is a custom kernel with overclocking capabilities. I think snapdragon 400 is a good overclocker.

Hehe, I understand you because personally to me Touchwiz interface is quite boring, that's why I prefer AOKP/AOSP/CM ROMS XD
And there are some people who would like to have an interface like Samsung's Touchwiz on their another branded phones. But you want the mostly what you don't have...
So we should donate a device to team slim and ... we hopefully get a 4.3 build in the upcoming weeks !?

People like you amaze me. Do you find your computer boring because it has no custom roms? It seem to me some people think that devices exist to run operating systems instead of running programs for those OSs. Do you belong to the group of people that flash their devices day and night?

Exactly
Comparing between official rom and customs what I got with note 2
Better performance
longer battery life
Less problems and unwanted apps
Extra customizations like battries notifcations ect ..
Really you will love the custom roms if you give it a try. specially
If you choised the right one

Oh, mate, i know very well what benefits custom roms can provide. Have been running them since my WM 6.0 days, but since i switched to android and learned to clean stock roms, i've discovered that custom roms give me very little to no advantage + quite often they gave me instability/fcs/not properly working features/other weird problems. I've cleaned the firmware on my 9200 the way i want and now it is very light and quick and no lag and runs on battery forever. Last charged it 4 days ago, have been using it here and there for reading/surfing net and it still has 50% charge left. Amazing.
To be bored with such an amazing device because of the lack of custom roms is weird. We have root, Titanium Backup, Root Uninstaller, custom launchers - everything we need to clean the stock rom to make it light/efficient. What the hell, dude, just learn how to use some programs and stop complaining. Alternatively, if you are so bored with your 9200, send it to me.

I have to also admit that I also choose a device according to what we find on XDA.
That's why I stay away from less known brands, haha!
But we cannot be too impatient, the Mega is very new and for sure won't have the success of, let's say, the Note 3 here on XDA

I have absolutely nothing againt custom roms! What i have a problem with is the topic of this thread, which is "bored with 9200 because there are no custom roms". If wanaam roms are so great, get the device that has them and be happy.
Its to show the devlopers how we need there support
Also is the reason why I love android

Wanam's framework module requires Xposed framework to be installed first then the module activated in Xposed.
Im not quite sure about the dependency thing you mentioned, but as far as I know both cassie's (deodexed) and Silentlight's (odexed) ROMs are official stock ROM with samsung bloatwares removed and therefore has got nothing to do with xposed. I am using official stock (odexed) XXUAMG4 ROM with some samsung apps manually deleted.
Guys,
I love my G2 with stock rooted rom...but... I know that it can be MUCH better in smoothness terms with 4.3 due to it's native TRIM support.
Big question/s:
1 - Should I wait for 4.4 or should I install 4.3?
2 - Will I be able upgrade 4.3 > 4.4 without full wipe and keep all my apps/settings or full wipe needed?
Thanks!
I just flashed 4.3. I think it's worth it. You can use titanium backup for apps.

Did you noticed some laggy scrolling and some lags in stock one?
No but I only ran it for two days.

Changing the CPU governor to interactive from ondemand made scrolling smoother and made other UI interactions snappier. Monitoring CPU core utilization interactive will use more cores at a lower frequency and ondemand will max out one core first.
And the TRIM support is only a big deal if you're not rooted. Since you are, you can just use the Lagfix app in the market that does the exact same thing. The paid version allows for scheduling.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grilledmonkey.lagfix
Are you sure trim isn't supported in the stock LG rom? Trim was introduced in 4.3AOSP but that doesn't mean it wasn't supported in older versions.
On my old Gnex, we used an app from the play store to install trim on 4.2.2.
Basically I wouldn't assume trim is not supported. It may not be but its plenty fast enough to not really matter. It may be faster on 4.3+ but I wouldn't flash because of that reason alone.

u can use TiBackup to backup all apps and its data then restore it on the new rom.. it's not that hard..

a bit off topic, if i'm going to use interactive governor should it be coupled with disabling mp-decision?
since mp-decision basically does the same thing as ondemand gov. with the added throttling..
The KitKat update will likely come in less than two months, I'll say no.
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
I would say give a try to all 4.3.1 Roms, when the KitKat rolls out go back to stock and update/ flash the updated firmware.
It's your phone right. Nothing should limit you from experimenting anyway you like.
-LG G2
i just about what you think its better. you should give a try on 4.3
i did, and because of that i prefered a stock based rom than CM
I'm fine with stock and until LG proves themselves ignorant with no upgrade or announcement I'll stick with stock.
I'll give them until the new year, anyway.
If nothing by then I'll actively call them out. Until then I'll just not promote them anymore.
Seems moto eventually got the message from their users. As did Verizon.
Nice thing about Verizon screwing me on the VZW LG G2, if they do, is that I can use a straight talk Sim and move on. I chose this phone to NOT be locked in to VZW. And if LG is lame on updates I'll move on forever from them too. I'll flash the latest android and not look back or buy LG.
Doesn't matter to anyone but makes me feel better declaring it.

Personally the 4.3 Roms are just fine. Ars reviewed kitkat and it was a mixed bag, as Android is still going through a few growing pains, but Google is taking a different approach to many updates through Google Play negating the need for the newest ROM.
i just flashed cm 10.2 and couldn't be happier. all the little lags are gone. performance is superb and battery life is good too.

Ive tried:
Project infinity Rom
- EDIT: using this rom right now (2.0) very quick and clean. Recommended.
Shohat
-my personal favorite. Very fast and EXCELLENT battery life.
Echoe
-best feature is the keyboard IMO
Overall most roms are identical, each having their own unique features. I like my phone to have good battery life, that is why I chose Shohat. But the echoe keyboard looks amazing! Tough choice.

Running SD6 and I have great battery life. The best since I got the phone.
Same here; the 35B update - even bone stock unrooted - has excellent battery life. Running SkyDragon or Jasmine makes it even better. It's at least as good as AOSP builds, which could not be said for the 23B/24C 5.0.2-based updates.
Is it better than stock rooted debloated KitKat ?

Kryptonian MM.
//eXistenZ discontinued, still best in the field. Just flash EliteKernel ontop and you will rock.
You're going to struggle finding any maintained / updated ROMs, and there's even less chance of a new custom ROM being released.
I've tried all the existing ones and eXistenZ MM is IMO the best we have for the Z2.
The only way you're going to have a newer experience is to buy a new phone.

EliteKernel is for a stable recovery and F2FS (coming soon) in the future.
Not much significant improvement, although there are, but not much.
I think it will be much better when v4 is released.
