Sup,
So, I flashed mutliple custom ROM's when I got this device like any other crack-flasher would but I then realised I much prefer it to be running stock with root access until an AOSP ROM comes along.
So I came from Omega 4.0 to stock LE8 in the UK, ever since I've flashed this stock ROM (Which is odexed) I keep getting the message "Sorry, messaging has unfortunately stopped" every time I open the app. I've tried wiping data/cache/dalvik and flashing in Odin again, same issues. I then went back to another custom ROM (HyperGalaxy) then went back to stock to test, still the same.
I have also tested an inverted AOSP 4.0.4 Mms app which worked on Omega, but didn't work on stock (Got the same message)
Data of the Messaging app has been wiped, i've disabled the app, rebooted, enabled again, still the same issues.
I've searched and I found 2 other threads with the same thing, but noone has been helpful enough yet.
It seems like the phone still thinks its running a Deodexed ROM but I need to get it back to full working order since I need to text something.
Any help is appreciated.

Probably didn't make it clear enough, I did that already. 3 times to be exact.
i have the same issue. Need help.
i get this message with multiple apps.
all of them are standard run of the mill things like browser, messages, video player. My phone is only a week old and completely stock
some real bugs in this phone still that need sorting asap. poor effort by samsung really
Same issue here, has anyone found a fix for it yet?
I only encounter this in hyper x rom. So far so good in omega
Ok,I had this issue when I tried to install different firmware and modems using Mobile Odin. It fully resolved when I flashed back the official UK firmware and modem (le8) using normal desktop Odin. No force closes whatsoever since. Incidently, I'm now using LE9 firmware with UK CSC, rooted, with no issues at all. I used chainfires recovery, then flashed superuser to root.
Hope this helps.

i got this everytime i clear cache and or wipe data from recovery before flashing new fw's.
so never wipe anything before flashing. if u already wiped, then flash it all over again and it will be all ok
Hello,
Hopefully someone can help
S3 was locked to three UK network.
Odin flashed generic newer UK firmware.
Decided to hard reset via buttons.
(noticed a message about multi cnc being applied)
Once it had gone in to the set up in ICS it keeps saying
" Messaging stopped and had to close " or something along those lines.
Tried to reset again and it wont clear.
Anyone know how to fix?
Should I odin flash the firmware again or do I have to go back to original three firmware file, then reflash the new one?
Also note my handset is now network unlocked using code supplied by provider.
Look forward to any assistance and advice, thanks
I had this problem when flashing a custom rom. The trick is to flash without wiping data, albeit this issues has been cleared up in newer versions.
Not sure what to advise if you're just after the firmware... download a custom rom and make a backup of the sms feature.
Hangon I may have the sms fix still on my phone from when I had this issue I'll upload if I can find it. Make a nandroid first though as I can't be sure it'll be transferable as I used it on the XXALE8 firmware (the only one at the time)
Edit: I no longer have it, can't find it anyway. You'll have to ask indie from omega and see if he still has the file. The one you're looking for is called "sec_csc.zip" I'm sure he'd remember if you tell him its for the sms fix.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help

similiar problem
Hi guys, I have a problem which is similar but not after a custom rom install. My messaging app just closes when I go to add a contact button to the right. Any ideas. thanks.

Hi all,
I explain u in more details what's happen !
the result : no more call or sms can be send or receive, but internet browse work !!!
the chronology :
I use foxhound rom since months and months
I bought a S3 in june locked, that i unlocked changing the nv_data.bin and i rooted it
I updated my rom with the LG8 version last week, and so lock came back
==> so i used voodoo unlock apk + fix 0.1
2 days after i discover that i can't receive or send anymore any call or sms
i do not need anymore voodoo unlock seen that i BUY A CODE TO UNLOCK PERMANENTLY MY PHONE
so i try to install other roms and modems with each time a full wipe, reset (before to install rom or modem) == the problem STAY
as well with others modems version like DXLF3 LF2,LFB, LG8, LG6
as well trying to fix permission each time
as well verifying the apn settings
the phone is rooted as before
but my phone stay useless even after to install so many roms and modems (cyanogen, stock, foxhound roms)
the signal stay on 3G when i try to call o to send sms but browsing it change to H+
NO CALL, NO SMS WORKING BUT INTERNET WORKING
i have seen that the voodoo fix changed libsec-ril.so, it can be the problem ?
install a rom or a modem doesn't overwrite this library ?
what have been changed by the voodoo apk or the fix that is not overwritten reinstalling a rom or modem ?
i suppose the origine of the problem come from this tool ?! since i use it, happens my problem.
can i find somewhere a backup of the root folder to reinit my phone totally knowing i have a backup of my original EFS folder?
how can i find the origin of the problem if it is not this library ?
PLEASE

HELP ME
THanks all of u for your helps.
Dahikino.
You could try to go back to stock rom?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
hi fenjen, it has been done few times without success
i suspect libsec-ril.so to have been modified but i'm not sure, i don't know what is use for but applying the fix of voodoo unlock, this fix replace the one on the phone !
best regards
First of all, supercurio hasn't released any fix, he even said that this fix isn't a proper one, so his app is still removed from Google Play.
Second, Voodoo Unlock won't damage your efs folder.
Third, consequences of use of the fix aren't know, but many people are using it without a problem.
Forth, the fix must be the last thing to be done. If you flash a ROM after you applied it, the fix will be gone.
which library is invoked for call and smms but not for browsing internet ?!
which check can i do?, after to have install so many rom, kernel and modem, reset, full wipe so many time, verify permission and apn settings !!!
it seem like call or sms are not able to invoke the right service but go on internet yes
it's related with data service ?
i become to be crazy with this problem (((((

Well I don't know what is the problem. What I can recommend is that you flash a stock ROM (try the original one, the one that came with your phone). If it still doesn't work, try to talk to your operator and find if everything is fine.
same problem
I have exactly the same problem, I used Galaxsim Unlock to unlock my phone, I can not make/recive a call or send sms but i can surf the web in 3G.
can yo solve the problem? if so.. please answer the way you do it :good:

i´ve the same problem with a i9305
Galaxy Note 3 Can't send SMS or phone calls, but was receive SMS and calls at first
Hangouts was combined with SMS originally
Device was saying “No APN specified for the device”. When trying to go to Settings>Mobile network settings>Access Point Names, I get error message “Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped”
Was running cm-11-20140905-NIGHTLY-hltespr.zip at time of problem
Tried wipe/factory reset to 'clean' install of CM11, did not resolve issue
Tried updating to the most recent CM11 nightly: cm-11-20140908-NIGHTLY-hltespr.zip
This did not resolve the issue
Tried going back to an older nightly: cm-11-20140904-NIGHTLY-hltespr.zip
Did not resolve issue
Tried flashing a rooted stock ROM: http://stockroms.net/file/GalaxyNote3/SM-N900P/rooted/SM-N900P-HLTESPR-MJ4-Odex-v2.zip[1]
Did not resolve issue, this put the device into a boot loop, would not get past the Galaxy Note 3 splash screen
Flashed back to the cm-11-20140905-Nightly-hltespr.zip, this fixed the boot loop, but now I'm getting a different message
Wiped data and cache in between each flashing of a new ROM
When trying to call from the phone, it says “Mobile network not available”, and still can't get SMS to send. It no longer gives me any message about “No APN specified”, but the same error happens if I go to Settings>Mobile network settings>Access Point Names
I've found this thread but it only seems to be related to the S3/S4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2657822[2]
Also found this: http://www.reddit.com/r/cyanogenmod/comments/1zlsrk/cant_send_sms_after_fresh_cm11_install/[3]
Google Voice is not installed, and I can't find anything in the settings about Voice+
I can't go back to CM10 because there doesn't appear to be a CM ROM for the Note 3 earlier than CM11
I've found threads with similar issues, but they are all for either Galaxy S phones, or for the Note 2. There seems to be little to no information about the Note 3 regarding this issue
At this point, the Note 3 can't send or receive any mobile data, can't make calls, and can't send messages. It's basically a WiFi only device at this point
Perhaps I need to try updating the radio? I'm honestly not sure. But there again, I can't seem to find much on the Note 3
If someone could help me out with this it would be much appreciated, as its my sister's phone and she's going to go crazy without it
EDIT:
One thing I forgot about, somewhere in there I also tried flashing a ROM for hlte, as opposed to hltespr. I think that at point is when all data stopped working
Some have suggested flashing a stable version of CyanogenMod, but there doesn't appear to be one for the Note 3, unless I'm missing something

If all else fails try flasing back to stock, update profile, update prl then reroot and flash the ROM. Please follow the OP to the "T" and you should be good!

Do you know where I can find a stock ROM? The one I have been able to find has not worked. Also, does reinstalling a stock room cause the phone to be unrooted? I thought I read somewhere that there has not been an unroot for the Note 3 released yet
I will attempt to locate a stock ROM on my own and attempt to update Profile and PRL and go from there. Thanks for the assistance!

In the development section you should be able to find a stock rom. Yes, by installing a stock rom you will loose root its as if you just got it from the store, lol.

I was under the impression that you could be running the stock ROM and still have root access, I guess this is incorrect?

No, when I say stock its fresh, no root. It will be the same stockness as when you first purchase your phone!

Hmm interesting. I always thought that what software you're running and whether or not you have root access are two separate things. Don't they have rooted Stock ROMs?
Anyway, its irrelevant at this point. I've found a stock ROM I'm hoping will work, will update either way

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I am having the same issue. I flashed a hlte rom rather than a hltespr and lost SMS and voice, but my data is still working. I tried to restore my backup and it still isn't working. Any help is appreciated.
would flashing a correct modem solve their problem?

Just flash an htlespr ROM and you'll be fine.
Flashed back to a Stock ROM, and everything works fine again.
Waiting until a milestone is released to try re-rooting and flashing CM again
I've been having this issue ever since coming back from Europe a couple months ago where sending or receiving any MMS is not possible I always get a "You may be able to send after inserting your SIM". On top of that occasionally my SMS will act the same way, it will require hitting "retry" several times before it goes through. It only occurs on custom ROMs, such as Resurrection Remix and CM13, but when I switch to a Stock rom it works perfectly. It wasn't like this before Europe so I'm not sure what happened. Someone informed me that I would need to flash a Stock rom, used Bare_ceeV2, then backup the EFS folder (Which I did in TWRP), wipe and flash a new rom then restore the backed up EFS. This method failed and I'm still getting the same message. Any idea how I can restore the MMS sending capability, I'd really like to stay on custom rom.
