It doesn't really matter since knox can't be restored (0x1)
But I'm curious if anyone ever tried triangle away with galaxy alpha (G850F) ?
I did try it with kitkat and manage to reset flash counter to 0. (knox still 0x1)
but since upgrading to lollipop, triangle away no longer work, even returning to kitkat it no longer work.
I wonder what's changed during lollipop upgrade ?

New knox bootloader is the reason. I do not know if earlier kitkat bootloaders had the evil feature, where it
burns an e-fuse upon tripping the counter. But it is definitely present with new bootloader.
PS :: Can anyone tell if we can downgrade to kitkat from lollipop on alpha ? thanks.

My first mega (probably the first batch release) had an older boot loader without knox. Some of us early mega buyers are lucky not to be cursed with knox boot loader but Unfortunately, all newer megas and new samsung devices have knox bootloader, which makes rooting basically impossible without tripping the warranty bit kernel to 0x1. Not only does that scrap your warranty, but it makes the stock rom inoperable, disabling wifi, gallery, and external sd.
I call out to all advanced developers to please create a method to root newer megas without tripping the knox boot loader. Many other devices found a way, such as the galaxy tab, note 3, and galaxy mini. The process involves taking a stock rom, deleting the boot loader files in it, rehashing, then flashing via odin. Flashing via odin with anything seems to trip knox though, that is the major risk.
So how about it? Is there a way? We must fight back! WE paid for these devices, WE have the right to root! If i wanted a restricted phone, I would have stayed with Apple!

I've rooted every mega I've had without having any issue with WiFi and all that not working? There is no recovery for the i527 but I am working on that but as for what your saying I'm highly confused as to why you would have those problems after rooting?

Do you even know what knox boot loader is? What method did you use to root? flashing a recovery such a twrp or philz touch 6? that trips knox. Did you then flash superuser.zip via twrp or cwm recovery? that also trips knox.

I posted a thread a few months ago about the earliest methods of rooting the mega causing the knox to trip.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699338
I researched, and it's true that knox will knock out wifi and some other features if you attempt to root or screw with the boot loader. The only known fix was to install a custom rom which i did, selish's cm11 kitkat, which is my favoured rom.
I tried everything to restore the stock rom. I tried flashing the stock rom, full wipe, everything. Nothing re-enabled those features.
So are you telling me, that there is a method to root the newer boot loaders without tripping the warranty bit kernel? or does it trip, yet functions still work with your kingo and twrp method?

My stock XSE I9200XXUCNC2 after flashed CWM 6.0.3.2 via odin some apps start to FC and always nagging at starting my I9200. so far FC apps was factory app MAPS and YOUTUBE, so I have to disable it in Application manager. Looks like all samsung galaxy snapdragon varian is real dangerous to root, My SM-N900 XSE with Exynoss varian still safe in all feature apps in root condition even with KNOX Warranty : 1. Exynoss varian still safest one ( Mine in kitkat DND2 ).
P.S. : Does anyone has a way to keep MAPS and YOUTUBE operational even in root ( Unofficial ) state???
Thanks.

Does this mean I can flash a custom rom and if it needs to go back to sammy I can just reflash the stock 4.3 back on and there will be no evidence?

No you need to flash back to stock and use triangle away to set your flash count to zero but that's pretty easy to do >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/orig-development/2014-01-15-triangleaway-v3-26-t1494114 <<
Sweet XDD
the phone in question is a T mobile Galaxy S5, used to be mine running full root since 4.4.4 and had cn 11 on it, now wife is useing it and she wated it stock, so I odined the latest stock t mobile 5.0 firmware onto it, since then it has updated twice to 5.1.1 as I'm not too familiar with 5.1.1 I figured I better ask if it can be rooted.
if it can it will be much appreciated, right now it has done random reboots three times so far today and she is about to go back to Applel
5.1.1 can be rooted using hispasian's kernel. It can find in the android development thread. BTW, tell your wife that Apple is tight about "rolling back" and/or if at all, to previous ios versions if the new version stinks. I was lucky to perform rollbacks on older iphone generations but the newer ones are harder for obvious reasons. I stayed on 4.4.2 because of towelroot -- I'm not too fond of 5.1.1 because of the lag and unstable root methods right now.
Any questions? Please let me know. We would wan't want your spouse to join the "dark side" we call Apple. =) <couldn't resist the star wars pun there>
Thanks I'll loom there here in a minute I want her to be an android person I like androids better because you can remove the SD card, Apple has no SD card, plus as long as it's not a s6 you can swap batteries, I usually keep two spares in my Jeep when we go looking in NC for houses just in case

I meant FOL1 in the original thread
Please excuse my stupidity
well in another thread i was wondering if flashing TWRP+CM still works on FOL1 & the user said yes, so.... i'm sure root is always possible, unless your question is to keep knox (you're probably out of warranty anyway)
there are modified TW roms that are prerooted if self rooting fails
random reboots with what apps installed? disable any you dont use, disable gestures, samsung crap, etc etc...
I don't want knox, I don't want 5.1.1 either what I want is to put 4.4.4 on in or 4.4.2 and root it real fast before it updates

not sure what the rush is, there is no such thing as sudden updates that you cant stop, if you flash 4.4 then it's stuck on 4.4, but what if the newer baseband wont work well with the old android?
also, 4.4 is crap, you'll be insecure with fewer features & so on
i really find it unlikely that 5.1.1 is causing all problems, also you could even try 5.0.1

I tried but I was too late it went to 5.1.1, it is rooted though so until XDA cones out with a way to unlock the bootloader I have to wait. Because if I try installing TWRP like I did at first it hangs on the custom love indicator screen

No, but it's hilariously easy to get Samsung to honor a warranty on a device with a tripped Knox flag, if that's what you're worried about

So I just got on teh internets a G900T with the latest firmware G900TUVS1FOL1 installed, and lo and behold, the Knox was still untripped! This however leads me to a minor dilemma; how can I keep said Knox untripped and root? I noticed in other threads that people have flashed TWRP and supersu for root but does this trip Knox? Is there any method as of now that doesn't? And while we're on the topic, what is the worst that can happen if I do trip knox? I did pay good money for the phone after all and I'd hate to lose good features. Thanks!

Yes flashing TWRP and supersu will trip knox. There is no known method to root the 5.1.1 firmware builds that will not trip knox. Nothing bad (really nothing at all) will happen if you trip knox
Downgrade to CNK2 to root without tripping knox
I should've been more specific, there is no way to root 5.1.1 (lollipop) without tripping knox. I was operating under the basic assumption the OP was sticking with lollipop. NK2 is a KitKat build

Hello! Can you please give me the specific instructions on how to safely root my G900tuvs1fol1 ?! Thank you.
Question for you all...
I been seeing in a few spots this should be possible but I like to be safe rather than sorry.
Is it possible to do the following on a US Cellular S6 Edge Model: SM-G925R4? :
1 ) Downgrade to a Pingroot capable stock rom.
2) Use the root from that to use FlashFire to install something like CM.
3) Not Trip Knox.
If this is possible then can you extract and use Samsung Pay but using something like rootcloak on it with knox not tripped or is that not safe?
It doesnt work for my bank yet but it would be nice to have in the future.

if u trip knox samsung will not work
installing custom rom like cm or something else will trip knox
if u want samsung pay dont root or do anything
I understand that but that wasnt my question.
Trying to find about doing the steps above.
Install official samsung down to rootable firmware then use that root with flashfire. Was told that method could work. However if I can just get root from a downgrade ill be happy.
Downgrading could be possible with Odin depending on y your firmware version. You can always try installing the earliest firmware for that particular variant. Worst thing to happen would be a failure of installation. The earliest firmware versions are compatible with pingpongroot , but if the su binaries are detected Samsung pay will fail no matter what
Yea and thats what rootcloak is for. But are all bootloaders locked based on date or carrier?
Version on mine:
G925R4TYU3CPB4
Now I suppose if I can flash an earlier stock will it trip knox? Also what would happen if it fails? Just says error and thats it?

It is completely based on date. When I tried flashing an early firmware on my galaxy s4 installation failed and I just got a 'fail' message in Odin. No Knox issues. I would assume that would happen with you. Go give it a try. I am rather confident that it will fail on your device, but if it does no worries, just restore the latest firmware and live without root
