I noticed that when headphones are plugged in and HiFi mode is turned on the volume seems to stop at 75 , does that mean that there's a volume cap on the V10?And if so can it be turned off?
That's maximum volume.

i'm asking the same question, 75 as the max? i want 100... i've upgraded from G4 to V10 and expected the same level of volume, so sad now.
You can go higher if you edit mixer_paths.xml in /system/etc (assuming you have root). However, it does start to distort and it still displays 75 as the max volume. Not sure what the 75 actually comes from because I edited all the "75"s in the file to 100 and it still didn't change. The loudness over the stock file is probably about 30% louder without being badly distorted. I went back to stock file because I value the fidelity over a little extra loudness.

Hey guys
does any of you know if there is a way to reduce the loudness of the speaker? cause when im phoning via speaker it is too loud eventhough i set the volume to a minimum.
Have you tried lowering the volume with the volume key when you are in call. I think it works.

Yeah sorry that'S what i meant by "set to a minimum"
Well the only things I can thing of is partially covering the speaker with your hand while holding it, or even covering part of it with some sticky tape. I haven't heard of or seen an app which could lower the volume below minimum.

My volume isn't as loud as my previous phones.
Could it just be my phone?
Anyone suggest an apk that is safe to use without hurting the speaker.

Might be your speakers/headphones.
I've noticed that depending on what headphones I use, the volume is different.
On my phone, using earbuds, I have to keep the volume quite low actually. if its even 50% its too loud for my ears.

ps Has anyone heard anything about unlocking the bootloader since HTC disabled the tolkiens at HTCDEV?
I have a brand new GS4 on Verizon. I have not rooted because it is a company phone and they will not allow it. I love the phone but the sound is disappointing me quite a bit. I have a GS3 as well and using the same headphones (Beats - Powerbeats) i can almost make my ears bleed when at full volume which is just how iv been comparing the two.
With my GS4 however, the headphones are at about the right volume when cranked all the way up but there is more. When im listening to music on the GS4 at full volume, about once ever 15 min or so it will increase the volume to what i feel like is the proper max volume for the phone. After about 3-4 seconds, it goes back down. So when im riding my bike, all of a sudden i get blown away for a few seconds.
I dont need the volume to be higher for my headphones but i have a nice stereo in my car and when i connect to that, i can tell that it doesnt sound near as good. Any ideas? Let me know if you need more info. Thanks!
I heard that the update fixes this. I get it too. Verizon told me early July the update would come out.

Good to know! Thanks!
I hope we aren't the only ones with this bcuz I didn't really notice it until this thread. When I listen to my Spotify it will be loud for a bit then it will get all quiet. It's weird.

Been on CM10.1 for about 3 weeks now, the rear speaker volume is so low it's actually louder to just turn the ear speaker up.
Is there a solution to this in an option I'm not seeing?

I'm not sure, but if you flash pegasus and use stweaks you can adjust it very easily in there.
I'm same place man. I think I'm going to flash back to tw for a little bit. Although TW is tight .

My favorite thing about the V30 is the quad dac because when enabled it gives you volume control in 1% increments. My hearing is sensitive, i will normally listen to music at a volume of 5 or less.
However, after the Oreo update, volume of 1 is too load. I have the quad dac enabled, and have the gain set to -6db (minimum) on both channels. I have tried different "filters" and sounds presets. Didn't help. I have tried disabling the quad dac, this only makes it go loader because now it adjusts in 5% increments.
Has anyone else noticed this change? If no one else had noticed this I will try a factory reset. If that doesn't work, i can go back to using an inline volume slide adjustment to reduce volume.
Thanks!
PS: I know most people will probably be happy about the volume increase and it was probably done for this reason. I understand I am likely an outlier on preferred volume levels.
Just an updated.
This was a fluke. I restarted my phone and the volume levels returned to what they were before instead of being elevated.

Made a post and solved it yourself! Reminds me of the football play where the quarterback threw the ball to himself and got a touchdown.
