Fails and kicks error in recovery "Error Unable to Backup Boot Image" then stops. Tried it with /system and /data mounted and unmounted in recovery.
CWM 5.8.3.4
Stock rooted 9.4.2.15
help here is appreciated guys?
Edit: upgraded to Jellybro and still no joy on CWM, have since swithed recovery to TWRP and all is well
So... I got my HTC One today and it's been a very difficult experiance. I am quite a newbie when it comes to rooting and such but I managed to unlock my bootloader (with the exception that it shows TAMPERED at the top) then proceded to flash TWRP through fastboot. TWRP wouldn't mount /data, /sdcard, etc... it wouldn't work. A little bit of searching led me to flash CWM instead and that seemed to work.
In CWM I wiped data/factory reset, then flashed SuperSU, then flashed CleanROM, then flashed BulletKernel, and finally reboot. Now I'm stuck in a bootloop and when I go to my bootloader and try to enter recovery it reboots, shows the CWM logo then reboots my phone. I tried re-flashing CWM via fastboot to no avail.
TL;DR: Phone is in bootloop and won't even boot into recovery
Any help would be much appreciated,
Thank you!
EDIT: Had a feeling it was due to the fact I didn't clear cache/dalvik cache before rebooting. I erased my cache via fastboot and voila it booted into recovery!

Boot into bootloader. Then do fastboot erase cache. Then try rebooting. If you can get into recovery but not ROM, reflash the ROM. If you can't even get into recovery still, try reflashing recovery. Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. Then try getting into recovery and reflashing.

I just root my phone, and I entered my cwm recovery and wipe data, wipe cache, and wipe Dalvik cache and I forgot to backup, and after that I want to upgrade my phone to a kitkat and after that I entered the "zip from sdcard "and select" omnirom 4.4.2 nighly 9300 "and after waiting for an upgrade, the message" installation aborted "probably because my recovery cwm 5.5.0.4 version, I forgot to upgrade to the newest cwm my, now I can not get into my phone , is there any way to upgrade from odin or cwm cwm recovery ?
am i wrong download rom or my cwm is not computable ?
samsung galaxy s3
omni-4.4.2-20140416-i9300-NIGHTLY
cwm recovery 5.5.0.4
Flash one of these in CWM:
CWM 6.0.4.7,
Philz Touch 6.26.6, or
TWRP 2.7.0.0
Afterwards, restart your phone into recovery, and try re-flashing the ROM you wish to run.
[RECOVERY] Cwm recovery "unable to mount /system" error.(Was working before)
It was suggested to me that TWRP was more compatible with my device (s3 mini), I flashed via odin and used TWRP to flash the new update of cm11. A while later I booted into recovery to make a backup but I got thrown into a bootloop.
Everytime I wanted to go into recovery I had to flash TWRP. I decided to go back to cwm and flashed that. The issue now is when I try to make a backup I get an "unable to mount /system" error. My installation of cwm wont stick after a reeboot aswell. Screen turns black then boots up normally.
I found out you cant make nandroid backups of stock roms but im running cm11.
How would I go about fixing this issue?
Thanks in advance.
MY PROBLEM : When i wipe the dalvik cache before flashing a new rom, the following message shows "E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]", and i always get stuck in bootloop. So i have to reflash cwm(6.0.4.5)via odin. Even after reflashing, when i go in the recovery and again clear the dalvik, i get the same message ,and again, the device gets stuck in bootloop. So this means that everytime i have to flash a ROM , i will have to reflash the cwm via odin, because of the above mentioned error. I have got the following questions :
1) How can this issue be fixed? (I searched the q&a and the fix for the bootloop was given that reflash the cwm, but that didnt fix the E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext] error)
2) Will flashing the latest philz recovery fix this error E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]??
3) If i flash the latest recovery by philz, will the nandroid backup of my stock rom made from my old cwm recovery 6.0.4.5 work with the philz recovery, or will i have to first restore the stock rom via cwm(6.0.4.5), update the cwm by flashing the philz recovery, then make a nandroid backup of my stock rom via the philz recovery?
Are u following the proper order? You first need to wipe the cache and then wipe the dalvik cache. Otherwise just flash stock ROM vi odin
