How durable is that Dura Skin on the V10? - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will this soft feeling Dura Skin start to wear down, peel off or show signs of degrading after a while?
I would think so but then again what do I know.

I have the black phone, and I honestly feel like it will not. Not that it matters, by the time it did wear off, you'd be able to buy an OEM replacement for 20 bucks or so. I'll be getting a Qi charging back when they come out, that should give the original a break too.

hey waarom gebruik je het hoesje niet?? zo'n dure telefoon zet je niet gewoon los in je zak.. als je het kwijt bent zoek dan naar een vervanger..

hey why don't you use the pouch? you don't put such an expensive device in your pocket like that.. if you lost it just search for a replacement..
I still dont have any scratches on my HD2 bought it back in December..

Just as much as you don't put a device you use so much in a pouch... I'd get mad if I had to take it out of and put it back in a pouch every 2 minutes, not mentioning the extra thickness...
It's meant to be used, I like to keep my device neat but still favor useability. No pouch, no screen protector, I'm jsut careful when I use it, then it's just normal wear to me. I wouldn't want to be annoyed EVERY time I use it just to avoid a little scratch or 2. The back cover is the least of my worries, screen is the important bit.
Or you can leave your HD2 in its original box and at home, so that it never gets flawed
And yes, the back cover getting ugly is common.
Get yourself a case
I got myself a rubber case of ebay, very cheap - 3£ -from Hong Kong this should sort everything out. Even when you drop it there is more chances your HD2 will survive. I wouldn't worry bout the screen it quite scratch resistant
I use my pouch all the time, never put it straight into my pocket, yet I have small blotches on it, on one the protective coating has even come off. Can't think of anything I have done to cause it...

Why don't you give it a wipe with what we here in Scotland call a magic sponge.
a Mr Muscle product I think. I usally buy them unbranded at a local discount store.
I have exactly the same problem, I hate fumbling around with a case every time I want to skip a track and because of this my battery cover has the paint chipped off. I recently bought a rubber case in a kit from mobilefun.
I have the cover issues and this is what i am going to do:
polish the cover as done in one of the threads here and get another cover off eBay and switch between the two.
buy a silicon rubber back cover and you will have pleasure using and protecting your HD2
Sorry people nothings going to cure the damage on my cover. Anybody see what HTC charge for a new battery cover. Like reaching for the soap in prison!

Ive had mine since november and ive never used a case, my battery cover is almost flawless there are a few tiny scratches that are barely noticeable.....
compared to my old N95 this thing is invincible.....
I've had mine since march (US Tmobile release), and I've used no cover or screen protector and there's not a scratch anywhere on the phone, including screen and battery plate cover.
I have bought a transparent cover for all the parts of the phone..called if i remember well "Clear Armor" and ever since i have no problem/fear of scratches. There are no issues regarding the touchscreen sensitivity or so, besides on the box is NOT written made in China!!

I still want to get that "Clear Armor".
Tho for now I dont have any damages on my phone. I just use the poutch which was included.
Skipping numbers from music player? The shipped earphones had a remote control part which works very well, tho I bought a plugin earphone remote so I can use my Synhaiser earphone and skip numbers while its in the poutch.. expensive but the sound quality is so good.
Photo?!
Hey addie, show us a photo of your ugly battery cover
Here's the picture http://twitpic.com/2so8jd
Cheeeeze OP the cover looks like you busted a nut over it, then dropped it in the toilet at the end

Anyone else got the T-Mobile Snap in Holster?

Any of you guys got the clear/grey holster that your MT3GS clips in?
I got one weeks ago, and love how it holds the phone, but I've noticed it is grinding the red finish off my frigging phone.
Anyone else?

well all of those cases will rub off the finishing like or not
The same thing is happening on my black one. It is rather sad how few decent accesories are out for this phone, if I had known this before I may have just waited for something with more aftermarket support.
I agree, it's sad as hell. OEM accessories shouldn't damage the phone at all.
My wife has the Plaid one on hers, and it hasn't worn anything off.
Nothing was worn off of my G1 from the cases on it, nor my Dash, nor my Behold.
Probably not so much the accessory but the paint on the phone.
Personally I'm scared of one of those snap in holsters. The only one I've ever tried that worked perfectly was the OEM snap in one for my Blackberry 8700.

That's because the plaid one is higher quality and actually has padding it.
You have to pay attention to what you buy. Some OEM stuff is high qual, some is cheap as hell... I'd recommend going in a store so you can try it out first instead of buying from tmobile online. It is much harder to tell that way and I do agree if your gonna pay for oem stuff (which is always higher than others) you should get better quality but sometimes their vendor may make cheaper stuff for some and better vendors make the others. It's a pain for all and comes full circle when tmo has to replace your phone because their very product that was supposed to protect it, actually ruined it, lol
I paid attention to what I bought, I also test fit the device at the store before I bought it. It is very well made, and holds the screen against the body to keep your screen from getting damaged or knocked open.
None of this matters, as it is sold as an OEM item by T-Mobile, and nothing they sell should EVER damage any phone, especially without a warning before hand.

AccessorySwamp battery and cases

I bought an extended battery from the AccessorySwamp.com and recently the case has started breaking. it first started to break around the On/Off button and then it broke on either side of the phone just above the volume button.
I have read somewhere else in these forums of their cases breaking.
I have to say though they are very fast at contacting you in Email, I had a reply less the 5 minutes.
But, now the problem is that they are sold out of the back covers and they cant ship me a new one.
So, just be carefull if you buy a battery from them, Although I like the battery and its cheap. The back covers are really really cheap.
A cheap solution would be too check out eBay for another cheap extended back, just a thought

I just bought one of these so thanks for the heads up.
Well, it looks like they got some back covers in and they have changed them for the better. They are now flat looking like the stock EVO, without the red pinstip and the HTC, instead of having a bump where the batter was at. The only thing I wish they had was the same textured plastic they had on the old style back cover, the new one has the velvet texture that make it slippery.
I really like it though, much better then the one that came with the battery.

[Q] Verizon DNA rant (sorry ahead of time)

The plastic charging door broke on my phone, and Verizon wants me to ship my device back for this instead of sending me the little piece of plastic, with a possible $200 charge for abuse? The battery life is not great on the device I use it all day so I have to charge it often, I can't stand when MFG's put these little covers on but the phone looks like crap without it.
Anyone else have this and a better way to get the little charging door or a case recommendation so I can't see it? I love the otterbox stuff but both cases are too bulky for the DNA in my opinion.
Most people ripped of that little flap. If you get a new one it will probably come off again, so just keep your phone.
As far as cases, idk. I keep my phone naked.

Agreed, I prefer it naked as well, but this thing looks bad without the door, the phone has such clean lines!
When and if mine comes off or falls apart, I will be making another one that's completely removable, basically like a rubber plug fabricated to fit snugly into the slot when I'm not charging carefully formed to prevent damage or binding.
My rezound didn't have a cover, and I take good care of my devices but in my home and work environment I'm surrounded by dust and dirt. My DNA inside would get lots of stuff like dust and even tiny pieces of hay.
My OCD would get the best of me, and every time I would connect the charger I would think of dust and airborne particles being abrasive to the micro USB port.
It can be annoying to have to use a tool each time I remove the cover but I'm really glad its there. I realize how frustrating it can be though.

Can u just buy a wireless charger? VZ has the Nokia (with discount) for under $40.
You ship your phone and they will send you back a refurbished phone.

Duh. That is a really good idea, I feel retarded for not thinking about that when it broke!:good: Do you have a link, all the ones I see are $59.99 and up? It's still a go at this price, but if I can get for under $40 even better!

If you make one of those, make me one too!! I'll send ya a few bucks!
My door broke off as well, and I only remove it to charge while on the road away from my wireless charger. I just happened to snap it off while taking the door off, so I still have it, but it has come away from the phone's body.
A monumentally stupid design choice that was clearly done to induce the purchase of wireless chargers.

I think the funny/sad thing here is the immediate claim from Verizon to me on the phone that it's probably abuse. I asked the support rep if he had seen the plastic hinge before. Abuse, total crap when it breaks in a month... if it had a little stronger battery it probably would have taken me two months for it to wear out!!!
Mine broke off so know I just stick it in. Can't help but wonder if its necessary to meat the IPX-5 water protection?

Same thing happened to me with the plastic cover. I called Verizon told them it fell off while trying to open it to charge the phone they sent me one and said I wouldn't get charged the fee for damage. I received the new one and have not been charged any fee and its been a few months so don't worry about them charging you if you replace it.

For people having poor battery performance - make sure you check your usage statistics! For example, there is a bug with Latitude where it will constantly ping for location, so Maps will take up a huge amount of battery life. Check and make sure there aren't any programs or servicing taking up an unusual amount of battery life. For me, battery life has been amazing once I fixed the Maps issue (there is a thread somewhere if anyone has any specific questions on that).
I've had my DNA for less than 24 hours and my battery door came off already haha. It's okay though, doesn't look that bad without it and I work in an office so I don't see any immediate danger to the device. Love it.

Sounds like maybe you should take it back and get an iPhone? Seriously, I have the DNA as well. Any phone that has the rubber door flap is going to break, period. Just leave it off. You can resolve battery life by rooting it, and loading a ROM/Kernel that has better battery support.
Lastly, in re: the way it looks, the case, etc. Sounds like you're just unhappy. Try getting a phone you like better? They provide a 15 day return period for folks just like you.

you have to have corp discount to see it for $37.
other wise Microsoft store has it for $49. http://www.microsoftstore.com/store...0-Wireless-Charging-Plate/productID.259027800

Circle Case is very nice. Apps Tips tricks.

Okay, When I first bought my G3 I looked at the non QI wireless charging case at the verizon store and said no way. I felt I needed protection incase of accidentals falls and drops. I went with the otter box defender. I used it for a month until I decided to venture into the wireless charging arena. (this was mostly just to make my friends with Iphones question their purchase decision, I call this "phone LG'y"..lol ) I saw some patches to place inside the cover with nfc and qi charging antennas. between $10-20. I decided to stay with OEM products and shelled out the $59.99 for quick circle case with wireless charging. You remove the back cover of your existing phone and snap it into the case.. Was I surprised how it felt. When I first bought the phone it's curved sides made it hard to hold. The defender case made it easier but very very bulky. When you fold over the flap on the circle case, holding problems quickly diminish. the look and feel of the phone took on a whole new persona of its own. It looks and feels great! It slid nicely into my pocket and had a very slightly non-skid backing. Some negatives were that The phone showed issues of very hot charging to where the phone froze and I had to wait for it to cool down to even try get it to reboot.
I liked this case so much I still decided to keep it and not use it for wireless. Now comes the good stuff. The quick circle interface. Very nice.
When you first get the case go to Settings\Quick circle case and enable it. This will allow you to open up a few specific apps while the front case cover is closed. and yes it detects the cover is closed to turn off the screen. If you do a search on lg g3 on the play store there are some extra apps you can install. there is a nice quick circle app called "quick circle apps" from sternberg labs. had some cool additions and nice that it had a shortcut for all the apps that takes up only 1 of the six spots of your six circle choices. Flashlight is my favortie by far.
Now if you have a lock on your phone these apps bypassing phone locking for quick access.
I am always leary of dropping my phone so I have just been more careful. No drops yet so far. And when I started using my circle case weather started working on my unlock screen. Now when it is raining out, droplets of water look like they are dripping down my screen. very cool looking.
