I really want to use the ''play from cloud'' feature, so I don't fill up my whole sd card with music.
If I use US Proxy to log in, and download the software, am I good to go without messing around with proxy/vpn anymore?
(Music app is international, no need to set up vpn on phone I think)
bump.

What country are you trying to use Google Music from? If you use a U.S. based proxy to download the Google Music Manager software and set it up you should be good to go and shouldn't need the proxy after everything has been initially setup. I would recommend checking out this guide on how to setup Google Music outside the U.S. http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/19/how-to-use-google-music-from-anywhere-yes-outside-of-the-unit/. Also Google has expanded its list of Google Music supported countries to include Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, and United Kingdom. Let me know if you still have questions.

Alright, two more questions:
Is this legal? What I mean by that is this against google tos?
Also, using vpn/proxy to log in, is it safe to log in with my google account? Should I change password afterwards?

As far as legality is concerned I must disclaim that I am not a lawyer. Doing this is not illegal but it may violate Google's Terms of Service (I have no read the full Terms of Service) but they are unlikely do anything about it as many people who want to use Google Music outside the countries that are officially supported use this method. Regarding your question about is it safe to login with your Google account, there is always some amount of risk when using a proxy but overall you should be ok when using this method and shouldn't need to change your password after. You can change your password after if it makes you feel more secure, I always respect when people have privacy concerns . Also sorry for not getting back to you sooner I was out with my family for the day.

That's alright. I'm really unsure if I want to do this, I don't think security will be a very big problem (using https) + changing password before and after. Although will I be able to use google music on my phone without vpn? Can I upload music without proxy after this? Only thing keeping me away is if its against google tos

Once you set this up then you don't have to worry about using the proxy anymore, and don't need to setup a proxy on your phone. Yes, you can upload music without the proxy after the proxy is just for initial setup. For the terms of service I just did a quick look and yes technically it does violate the Google terms of service for Play Services such as Google Music. The following quote is from the Google Play terms of service in the Music on Google Play section:
7. Music on Google Play

Geographic Restrictions. The Music Locker Services and Music Products are currently available only in some countries. You agree that you will not present any false, inaccurate or misleading information in an effort to misrepresent yourself as a resident of a supported country, and you will not attempt to circumvent any restrictions on access to or availability of the Music Locker Services or Music Products.

Norway,
and thanks a lot for taking a look in the TOS. I'm just afraid that the service will never come here. I think I will stay out if it, with the security issues and violating the tos. But thank you, this was really helpful.

I was thinking.. If I were to take a trip to one of those countries Google Play Music is available, would I manage to ''unlock'' the service there? Also would it violate TOS then?

If you singed into your Google account while connected to a internet network in one of those countries then yes it should unlock it and you should be able to use it. And that should not violate the Terms of Service as you would be in one the countries where the service is officially supported which is acceptable use :good:.

I try the same too.
My brother are in USA, and he install teamviewer in his laptop, I connect to this laptop trought teamviewer and browse "http://play.google.com/music", and receive the message "Google Play Music are avaialable in certain countries...."
But... I try with other gmail account and works... then... I dont understand why not works with my first gmail account :S
I live in the Philippines (Asia)
Google Play is limited to Apps & Books in my country (as you guys know unlike iTunes you cannot change your country w/ your Google Account)
So I have been using an old Google Apps account (admin'd by my friend) + strongVPN + Entropay credit card -- yesterday 6-Feb-2014 I suddenly lost access to Play Music even w/ VPN on. I contacted my friend and he did not do anything to our Google Apps account. So it seems Google switched us to Asia/Philippines (?). I cleared payment methods on this and logged out.
I connected to VPN (USA server) on my device, created a new google account, and I got access back but now, when I add an Entropay VCC it is not working. I get an error and the transaction is canceled - I have tried the MSFT zip code trick, the Entropay zip code trick and both are not working
So right now I am stumped. I can upload music & stream to iOS/Android via the Play Music App but cannot purchase content.
Hi guys,
Please let me know if I'm posting this in the wrong section, I apologize.
I'm wondering if it's possible to fake my carrier so that I can receive ads that are targeted at a specific carrier and country.
For example, if I want to see ads that are targeted at T-mobile phones running on 3g in Austria, what could I do?
To my knowledge this isn't possible. The only ads that I know I can see are country specific over wifi.
Thanks in advanced for your responses.

Are you talking about web browsing, or talking about Google Play Store? If browsing, you could try a VPN or proxy that's located in the country you want to appear to be in.
As for faking the carrier, I don't know about that. That's usually related to the SIM card. For example, when I got my Nexus 4, I was setting everything up via wi-fi hotspot with my other phone (since I don't have home internet). I wanted to install the T-Mobile account app, but couldn't see it in the Play Store (ironically, the only one that showed up was the Australian one). I was baffled, until it occurred to me to swap the SIM to the Nexus, and sure enough, the app was there in Google Play for me to download. I know there are Xposed modules (which requires root) that can fake different identities (phone brand, etc) in Google Play, but I've never used them so I can't help you too much with that.
If I may ask, what exactly are you trying to do, and why? If we knew, we could probably help you better, because frankly I don't get why you'd want to see particular ads from a country you're not in. Just wondering.

Thanks for your response.
You are right I can always visit sites on my phone using a VPN and see country specific ads over wifi--this is what I currently do.
I am a mobile advertiser and what I would like to do, but what I doubt is possible, is be able to spy on ads that are targeted at carriers in specific countries. Whenever I can see what the competition is running it is very advantageous.
Hello,
I have a Motorola Moto G dual sim which I bought in the US. The phone is not rooted but all the aps and everything works well except the fact that now I am in China and this phone does not support the local 3g or 4g(it doesn't have 4G anyway). I only get Edge connection. Due to this fact I decided to buy a local phone that has dual sim and chinese 4G. I got myself a Vivo Y27 with and android 4.4 and a local Funtouch ROM. The phone is fast and very good but, there is always a but; Google play has been banned in China and all the phones made for the chinese market have this restriction. The restriction does not apply to «blocking websites or app» as with a good VPN service I can access them. The restriction is most probably built in the ROM. I have been able to download Google play but the application won’t start. I get the message that this application has been prohibited. Some applications I am not even able to download, even through a VPN.
All my apps that are useful rely on google services, so even if the services are «blocked» I can use them through a VPN. I do use them on my MotoG but because of the lack of faster connection it is almost useless unless I am on wifi.
How can this problem be solved? Any suggestion? Will rooting the Vivo and then replacing Funtouch with another ROM solve the problem?
I´ve searched all the android forums regarding rooting this device but I haven´t been able to find it anywhere. Unfortunately I do not read chinese and when I talk to people here I get the information that Google has been prohibited since last mid year(august/september 2014)
Anybody can help me or point me in the right direction?
The way it is now this phone is useless for me as I need it to pair with all the services I subscribe.
Anyone? please?
Hi Guys,
how can i install an app that is only available for some countries (i have tried the with VPN and it doesn't work). It is a medical app and i need it for my insulin sensor level reader.
it can be found on UK and France app store. On my store it cant even be seen. It is called "FreeStyle LibreLink". If someone can provide me the apk it would be great.
I have tried to search the forum but i failed in finding something similar.
Thank you for your help
Mihnea

thank you, i have installed it but it is still not working
Hello,
thank you for your help. I have manged to install the app but when i am trying to open it i am being redirected to Play Store and it is blocking the application somehow.. any idea how to pass this? I have installed a VPN but i am getting the same issue.
Thanks
Mihnea
No idea, sorry. I would try to contact the developer.
You need to find the app for your specific country. I have the swedish one.
However the app is not compatible with the Pixel 4s new NFC chip. I managed to sideload the swedish app and am not getting the error message. I still can't read the sensor 9 times out of 10 tho. So I am hoping for an update, either from abott or google.
Came to XDA to see if they might have a patch or mod etc.
Not certain relevant but I assume you are not granting "location" access on your phone to that app (or google for that matter)? 2nd - Assuming that you are connected via vpn to whatever Country the app communicates with (assuming it needs to even talk to a remote computer/service to work), if you are being directed to the play store is the app out of date perhaps and creator is requiring an update?
Hello there, i live in Turkey and i m planning to buy Vivo X80 from Taobao.com
Seems like its Chinese version and i couldn't find any answer if i buy this version will i have bear tons of problems such as connection mobile network, installing banking apps etc. ?
And according to vivo official website, there is no way to install global rom to chinese version. is this true or there are someway as unofficial way?
is there any experiance have you got before such like this?
I have the Vivo X Note, which was released a few weeks before the Vivo X80. They both have the same Chinese Origin OS operating system. Some developers on this forum are working on a method to unlock the bootloader and flash the global FunTouch operating system on the Vivo X70. Once they have finished their work the method should work for other devices using the Origin OS Ocean operating system. As for using the Chinese Origin OS operating system, I'm in Canada where the working language is English, and I haven't had any problems. I connect to the local 5G network and my banking apps and Google Pay work fine. My carrier would not enable VoLTE functions on the phone, but that is because of their policy to only enable VoLTE on devices purchased from them. Most European carriers allow VoLTE on these phones, but if VoLTE is important to you (you need it if you travel to the United States where they have shut down 3G networks) then you should check with your carrier before purchasing the phone. Almost all Google services work on the phone - ie Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, etc., but although you can tap the microphone icon in Google Assistant and then issue it voice commands, it won't respond to "OK Google" voice activation because the phone has its own Chinese voice assistant built-in, which can be disabled, but not replaced. Google Backup, and Google Maps Timeline won't work, but those were the only limitations I've run into. I also found that if you replace the default Vivo Messages app with Google Messages you won't receive notifications when the phone is in dark mode. I replaced the default app with Next SMS and it does receive notifications in dark mode.
I got vivo x fold in the US
And I can tell you almost everything works under CN version ROM
except Android Auto which requires root, currently there is no good solution for rooting VIVO. just let it be I think
I'm thinking of buying the x80 pro but Chinese version ..
tell me android auto does it work for you? for me it is very important that works!
Android Auto, Google Maps history/timeline, Google backup won't work, and although you can tap on the microphone icon and use voice commands in Google Assistant, you can't open it by voice (OK Google). Google Messages notifications don't work in system wide dark mode. Make sure your carrier will enable VoLTE on the phone, some won't.

Whenever the system-wide dark mode is activated, Google Messages notifications stop functioning. Check with your service provider to make sure the phone can use VoLTE, as not all of them do.

So glad I found your answer! So regarding the Google map timeline. Since Google map still works on vivo, can I still view the current map timeline if I log in from another platform, like a laptop web browser?

Buying a Chinese version of the Vivo X80 from Taobao may cause problems with mobile network connections and installing banking apps. It's true that there is no official way to install a global ROM on a Chinese version, but there may be unofficial methods. It's important to research and consider the risks before making a purchase.
