When in auto mode, I cannot seem to get the flash to turn on unless I go to manual mode. While I get that makes some sense, I have never had a phone that forced flash off in auto mode....sometimes I want to use the flash even though the camera is not considering it needed. Thoughts?
In auto mode I can still toggle the flash on, off, or auto on my phone?
Make sure your HDR mode is set to auto or off. If it's set to on, it disables the flash

Hey,
Had this phone for a week and the auto brightness is just terrible.
It is ALWAYS too dark, and sometime it would instantly go very bright and then down to very dark.
Whats going on?
I know I can keep it on manual, but I prefer auto as it saves battery and adjusts brightness accordingly.
Any fix for this?
maybe it'll come through siyah-kernel and siyah-tool (unpublished) on which gokhanmoral is working on.
No problem here.
Possible try a factory reset .

I am rooted.
Screen is not dimming, smart stay is off, and timeout has been changed between 15-30 seconds. Phone still does not autosleep. SmartStay is off, tried toggling it as well.
Any suggestions?
Reboot fixed it for me

Same here.
This happens every two days or so.
I'm just paranoid I will fall asleep without knowing about this and have a screen with burn in. Luckily, last night my battery was low and died so it shut off. Otherwise, i'd probably have a status bar burnt to the top of my screen.
I've found the smart stay feature to be flaky at best. I suggest people not use the feature and set a display timeout and adjust ones app settings. I know some ebook programs like to keep the screen on.

I had the same issue but since unlocking, wiping and moving to beans v2 it hasn't come back but we'll see if that lasts.

I'm assuming you are Korean based on your username... If you are playing any Kakaotalk games, including anipang, dragonflight.. so on.. kill that app after you are done playing. That will take care of it. I think that is the reason why reboot cures it.
Whenever I try do enable either of those modes, it says, 'to enable blocking/power saving mode, enable at least one function'.
I can't get what features is it asking to enable?
Try activate it in setting. Maybe in the settings you didn't tick any options.

Power saving mode really defeats the purpose of having so much horsepower. Its a shame that without it 12 hours is the average battery longevity.

Go inside the Blocking mode.
YOu wouldn't have done any setting for it. i.e. there won't be anything to block.
Same with Power Saving. Tick atleast one of the 4 options, otherwise it won't activate.
For some reason I see the brightness changes automatically in certain apps.
The auto brightness is off and set to full.
The brightness dims in the following screens:
1. Open original browser it dims , if entering web address it is back to full. Chrome does not encounter same problem
2. Original samsung mail app (not GMAIL) dims. If writing a new mail (reply/forward) it goes back up.
The brightness in the browser settings is set to full (not auto).
I tried to find an answer on the web but could not find. It drives me crazy!!!
Must say that I have the phone for 3 months and it started only a few days ago.
the only thing I can remember is that I was on WIFI and it started to update apps but how can I know what was changed and [email protected]#$ed my brightness control?
I assume that you're using a stock (or stock-based) ROM. Try to enter settings and deactivate the power saving mode if it's enabled. Then reboot - just to be sure - and look if the issue is gone.
Can't think of anything else at the moment...
Hope it helps
In stock browser disable auto brightness setting.

I can't believe I missed it. I've tried brightness in stock browser, tried battery saving from brightness menu.
I just didn't notice the toggle of battery saving in the main menu.
Thanks...
Hah, nice to hear that youe problem has been solved
Does anyone else use full brightness?. I've just purchased mine today & feel the need to have it on maximum brightness!.
Just wondering the average SOT is with maximum brightness for those who use it!?
Cheers

Always full brightness whatever phone I have, but this phone goes back to auto when you reboot it
You two must like to sear your eyeballs. Auto all the way. Works quite well on the mate 10.
Me too.
Always full brightness on any phone
Always in auto, or lower. Otherwise my eyes would bleed.
Same here. Always on "auto".

You can use a tool like Llama to switch off "Auto" after your phone booted. You can create a rule to switch brightness to 100% or whatever you like which is executed right after booting.
