Hello all,
I purchased an M1 Official Malata Case for my Gtab. I ordered it from it2steve, received it yesterday and it looks and fits great.
One problem...
It now seems that my screen is less responsive. I specifically notice it around the corners and around the right edge (same edge as home keys). Its becoming a problem with ADW as it is difficult to hit the onscreen button to open the program launcher and difficult to hit the Home button located at the top taskbar.
When I take the tablet out of the case there does not seem to be a problem. I have tried recalibrating using the took by gojimi and it does not seem to make a difference. I also have a Skinomi screen protector on, which I do feel had reduced the response already slightly, but it is now much worse with the case. I am also running Vegan 5.11.
Let me know what you think.
Maybe,Magnet will affect the capacitive touch screen.
I have noticed that the right hand side of my screen is a bit less sensitive than the left, but I had not associated that with the use of the case. (I have an m1 case as well). I also remember this being mentioned in another forum by a frequent contributor here.. (the lack of sensitivity, not its associated with the case).
It is a bit annoying to have to hit a button twice (and sometimes messes me up in angry birds) but it is not that severe in my case.

I too have chimed in on a couple of these posts adn I origionally thought it was the case as well, as it just seemed to be in the upper right hand corner. However I still have that issue and noticed last week (when I actually started typing more) that I was having an issue with anothe spot, right around my 'A' key.
I know that this has nothing to do with magnets or the edges of the case as now I'm playing around in the CLIP. I use Gojimi's calibration app but I'm personally leaning more to 'it doesn't like to wake up properly' as it seems to go away when I reboot?
I am pretty sure this is because of the case (to be precise, it is the part that wrap around and infront of the tablet)case.
I have an apad case and had the same problem. My tab has no problem outside of the case.
To solve the problem, I had to cut out the leather part that wrap around the tab and use a piece of velcro to keep the tab inside the case. I had no prolem now.
I am with you steve, that A key gets messed up.. and it does appear to be software, because it appears (my subjective opinion) that you can improve the sensitivity by doing simple things like hiding and exposing the keyboard. It also seems to be different depending on what you are doing.. for example, you would think that if it were a dead spot on the touchscreen, it would interfere with typing when you held it vertically, but it does not seem to.
BTW, is the clip case any good? I am debating whether to buy a dock from you

Maybe its just me but since i've received my M1... which i love. My touch screen seems too sensitive... i'm click stuff when its suppose to be scrolling... I'm going to say its not the case... Because my is doing the exact opposite.
on a side note when i originally got my gtab sensitivity was awful... i switched to the gingerbread rom and it seemed to fix itself.
All the more reason for making the switch once it pops into Beta!
I have one of the M1 cases and the Skinomi screen protector and just did some tests with and without the case. I can not discern any difference at all when the case is on.
The main problem is that your fingertip is less compatible than your finger pad due to calluses, etc... With the case on you cannot get a clean shot at the extreme most corners. You can only hit it with your fingertip. This will vary by person. A construction worker will have a harder time than a surgeon. When you take it out of the case, you are hitting the area square with your whole pad.
Is anybody else still experiencing this with the M1 case? I'm trying to decide between the M1, P3 and the Clip and decreased screen response would be a huge deal breaker for me.

Yea, I did but not sure I totally follow what you're saying. Why would a person use only fingertips with a case as opposed to their whole finger pad without one?

The case is not flush against the device. On the edges where it covers the screen there is an ever-so-slight upward curve (just the nature of dealing with this material). So, when you try to press the edge of the screen where it meets the edge of the case your finger is partially blocked by the case. That means that sometimes only the tip of your finger makes contact and sometimes that is not enough to trigger the action you desire. So, I think people were experiencing this occasional malfunction and blaming it on the case. The case is sort-of to blame, but it does not reduce screen sensitivity.
Do that make more sense?

Yea, I think I got it. Thanks for the clarification.
Maybe I'll opt for the Clip since it doesn't seem to cover any of the screen.

I am looking to do the same, eventually. However, even if I didn't buy the M1, I still can't justify $50 for a case. That is almost the price of 2 M1's.
Yea, the price is making me think twice about it.
I've discovered that my Optimus One screen responds to pens, pen lids, fingernails and other random objects. This makes no sense to me as doesn't a capacitive screen need a conductor such as human finger to operate. Or is LG just being dodgy?

hammers fix everything. sometimes permanently.
I got similar results from a homemade stylus (using a metal pen holding a saltwater-wetted tiny piece of sponge wrapped in a piece of a thin grocery store style plastic bag) and a cheap commercial stylus with conductive rubber at the end.
I thought that something was wrong with the homemade since I had to press hard to get it to work and it wouldn't slide well, but the commercial model has the same problems.
Also had things like wet towel activate the screen, but my woman complains that the screen doesn't respond to fingernails (not mine or hers) and she prefers the older resistive touchscreen type.
So it doesnt work with anyone else's fingernail either?
I know from the LG GT540 device (i have had that thing before my P500) you can use
both finger and finger nails - but its nothing for me, sometimes the display doesnt responds correctly.

I had the swift, official legend of a device now,
and I've had it work with a t-shirt will wiping the screen and if it rains and the is a little water it i'snt as precise
Okay so I bought a generic case from Amazon and obviously the fingerprint scanner didn't work once the metal edges were covered up. today I got my fp scanner to work with the case without any aluminum foil or anything like that. all I did was reset my fp setting and then I put the case on and ran the fp scanner set up. the fp scanner didn't work, like it didn't record my fp at all, until I used the upper half of my finger. I just rubbed that part of my finger until it started to record my fp. just keep rubbing it with your finger until you see the scan % go up. now I have both my index fingers recorded. when I unlock my phone I give the fp scanner a little rub and it works. just can't use the bubble part of your finger, you have to use the part between the middle bubble of your finger and the tip.

yah try it... it's also weird that I have to re add my index fingers to the fp scanners memory without the case in order for it to work when I have my hand on the metal edges ... it's like my finger are different without the case all of a sudden ...
how do you reset the finger scan? I did delete both fingers scan, but they are still there. Weird!

well I did mine by going to the fp settings, clicking delete, then selecting which ones I wanted to delete... it deleted them the first time... you may not have to delete them just rescan them in with the case on, and the other 2 fp with the case off... give it a try
I've had the same experience, middle of my finger works way better.

It is weird that I can't even add another fingerprint no matter how I tried it. I just don't wanna reset the phone. I will probably take it to Tmobile store and ask them. The two existing fp still works no matter how I deleted them.

This one is good too, but a little pricey... URBAN ARMOR GEAR Case for LG V10, Retail Packaging, Ash https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017UXBUE4/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_cf68wb5W1AV1N
I've never had a issue with the scanner? I have two cases the obliq and some rugged type case. I always rescanned my fingers when installed the case and that's it.
*saham yes pricey, but you can't be cheap on a good case that gives 360 protection.. keep in mind you get a free tempered glass screen valued at $9.99. You also get a strap clip, and belt clip

So my niece slapped my lg out of my hand and it fell only about 3 feet to the ground. It had a case on and i though nothing of it until the morning after i had NO FINGERPRINT setting in my phone. It completely disappeared to come back about a day latter but it was really sketchy. It progressed to the point where it would literally accept any surface touch as my finger print. It has finally died ( wont accept anything as a fingerprint) so i looked on the web to try and find an answer, but all i got was "RMA your phone". and me getting the phone from a 3rd party brand new didn't help either. Well onto the good stuff.
I pulled the trigger on a 10-15 dollar replacement sensor from ebay. To put it in you literally remove your sim tray, battery and bottom half, remove the 2 philips screws, proceed to slide a guitar pick or prying tool along the side to pop the clips just as you would an iphone 5 before all the adhesive, heat up the little metal bracket that houses the sensor as its glued on, pry it off and simply pop the sensor out and pop the new one in. Following instructions again in reverse I was awarded with not only a now functioning fingerprint sensor, but also my lock button doesn't jiggle or move that slight amount!!!!! No nneed for rma and was probably the easiest phone repair I have ever done!

Did you use the same metal bracket and just re-adhere? I'm looking to replace this sensor on a friends phone but every replace fingerprint sensor I find on ifixit, ebay, amazon, etc. doesn't come with the plate or new adhesive.
I just heated it carefully to be sure to reused it. If not just clean it off and apply some 3m double sided tape cut in the shape of the shield. No problems then!

Ordered this, gonna try when it arrives. Fingerprint is in my settings, but I bought off swappa. Doesn't look like phone was dropped but the sensor would only pick up my fp once after setting it up so this is worth a try. Will put results up after I get part and replace.
Anyone else come from another phone such as the LG v20? I noticed the fingerprint reader on the LG v20 was much better when wet. At least with the lgv20 I could unlock my phone but with this phone it does not respond at all forcing me to use the power button and my unlock pattern.
Even the smallest amount of water or wet finger makes it not respond.
Yes wet fingers and also cold weather seem to affect fingerprint readers on lots of devices. Usually I can rub my finger back and forth on my shirt for a while to get the friction to sufficiently dry it.
Right. Little wet and it doesn't work. Not big of a deal for me though.
My LG V20 would work when wet. The Samsung doesn't even want to work even after I seemed to have dried my finger. It pretty much wants nothing to do with a rainy day.
