Hey Guys,
So, My first post has to a help request...
I've had my SGS3 for maybe 3 years now, and had it flashed with CyanoGenMod v10.x and a version of CWM. And about 4 months ago, my phone decieded it would reboot itself one last time, and then just sit on the CyanoGenMod boot sceen, for hours and hours and hours on end. I thought, maybe, it would sort itself out if I left it running like that. Queue leaving my phone on that screen for a month, Nothing new, no change. Alright, Ill jump into CWM and try a quick and dirty reflash, just use CWM to flash the ROM that ive got on my SD card. And then... It went up the creek. From there, the flash failed, gave me an error code (cant for the life of me remember) and then would only sit on "Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9300".
At this point, I decieded to leave it alone, I had used this phone every day for 3 years, and put that thing through it's paces, It is it's time to die.
But ALAS, Today I'm doing a Dr.Frankenstein. I did some research, and came up with this thread.
Now, I know that I should have had a backup sitting around, and I did, until I sold off my old computer and completely forgot about the "BACKUPS" folder that was on it...
So, I started following the above guide, Boot into Download mode, Connect to ODIN, attempt to flash the VRALEC bootchain file, but here is where I reach an issue. Although ODIN recognises that ive got a device attached, Here is the log it throws me.

Anyway, Any and all help is going to be really useful right about now, Ive already ordered a new phone ( A oneplus two in case youre curious) so reviving this phone isnt too important, but it would be nice none the less. Im pretty sure ive deleted all user data anyway, so its not to get any data back, not that you can once it's bricked AFAIK.
Thanks a bunch.

EDIT::
Also, here is a screenie of ODIN after it's been trying to write to NAND for like, 3 hours
If you have the unlocked btu version then flash this rom: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4vTiHTBB629OVlvY0pkcXN4ak0/view?usp=docslist_api
If no joy then the nand is borked.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.

Thanks for the help man, After spending some time trying to get that ROM to flash, Ive decieded that the NAND is up the small river lacking any form of propulsion. :/

Yep. Borked nand. That rom is my ol' faithful. No flash means dead phone.

Flash twrp as recovery and than flas @archidroid's v1.8 rom for s3. I havd cwm first and it goes with flashing rom but still hangs at the reboot. So fix was twrp

Why not just try to flash the full stock firmware to restore the device? You might need to get a PIT file and possibly turn on the repartition option in Odin if isn't already when you open Odin.
If Odin doesn't work then try downloading a Linux distro and make a Linux live USB or Live CD then give Heimdall a try? Its a bit more complicated than Odin but it has been known to successfully restore devices that Odin never could, there is also Heimdall for MAC and JOdin for MAC.

hi, i stupidly attempted to root my note (i realise im a bit out of my depth!) watching a youtube guide this one to be specific - CANNOT POSTS LINKS YET!
i didn't do a lot of preperation so wasnt aware what kernal i was on (although the phone is fairly new so possibly ics?) although i do know that im on version 4.0.4 thanks to odin. so i followed the video and attempted both kernals (is this bad for the phone?) one failing and on giving the green light on odin.
afterwards i tried this guide as well - CANNOT POSTS LINKS YET! although not sure how relevant this is because it didnt work after the first attempt.
please can i have a push in the right direction, i am very confused/depressed without my note! i have tried all the restore/format options through recovery mode but at least this means its not bricked if i still have the options right? all that happens when i boot up is the note screen and a yellow triangle. cheers in advance!
That boot screen means download mode. Just reboot your pc, start odin, connect your phone, flash the correct kernel.
You should flash this recovery kernel first:

Then reboot into recovery and flash a rooted ICS rom.
To do that you will have to go to the development section and find a rom you like and download to your pc, then put your sd card in your pc and move it to your sd card, then put the sd card in your phone. Then you're ready to flash.

Are you using the stock USB cable ?
If so, are you connecting to the rear of the PC using a powered USB port ?
check these two items, then run it again....
If it fails twice, we start looking at a re-download of files, and cleaning of the PC environment....g

It means the PC cant open the port you are using....

Yep...the file is correct........
and with all 4 ports saying the same thing, I'm gonna have to think about this for a minute or 10..
the front port gave a standard error, and the back ports gave a no connect. So we go back to the front ports, and reboot the PC...
Now from here we have a few choices to make.
Take a break for a few...I have to drive home from work, then i'll be back to help you more..... about 20 minutes.....g
ok thanks for your dedication! its gone 12am here, will try and stay up as long as needs be lol

avg, sorry i have to bloody wait 5 minutes every time i post!
I'm not sure if this is considered the "boot loop" but i was away from my phone for a while and when i got back it was only displaying the text like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now since then i can boot into download odin mode (Vol down+power+home) but not the restore mode (Vol up+power+home).
So I tried flashing the sch-i605-16gb.pit and I605VRUEMJ9_I605VZWEMJ9_I605VRUEMJ9_HOME.tar and it seemed to have gotten stuck during the process. So i tried just tried the PIT file alone:
Code:
<ID:0/011> Added!!
<ID:0/011> Odin v.3 engine (ID:11)..
<ID:0/011> File analysis..
<ID:0/011> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/011> Initialzation..
<ID:0/011> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/011> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/011> Get PIT for mapping..
And it just sits there and then says it cant write. (the box says Set Partition until it FAILS).
So i try both the PIT and the ROM again:
Code:
<ID:0/011> Added!!
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> I605VRUEMJ9_I605VZWEMJ9_I605VRUEMJ9_HOME.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..
<ID:0/011> Odin v.3 engine (ID:11)..

<ID:0/011> Initialzation..
<ID:0/011> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/011> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/011> Get PIT for mapping..
And again, it just sits there doing nothing. The box says Set Partition.
If I just try to flash the ROM file this is what happens:

<ID:0/011> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/011>
<ID:0/011> There is no PIT partition.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
This time it doesn't just sit there - it does all that really quickly and the box then has FAILS.
So I decide to try to see if the recovery (Vol up+power+home) worked by chance... It didn't.
So I tried booting it up normally and now instead of the Samsung Text Logo I now, lucky me, get this:
I was running 4.3 rooted and all was fine... I have no idea what went on while I was away from my phone.
This is what my download mode looks like:
So as my last resort I try Samsung Kies and place the phone, yet again, in download mode. Kies starts up and tries to connect to it but never does.
Naturally this would happen when the phone is no longer under warranty... I've had it over 3 years now... So if anyone could be of any assistance with this problem I would greatly appreciate it!
Mine is there too. Friggin stuck at the Samsung screen. I can flash with odin and it even says successful-but-nah. Stuck at Samsung screen.
Wtf
It would be great to get some help with this!
bump.....
I finally got mine to boot.
In Odin I checked the re-partition and the nand erase all boxes. I also had a bootloader file I used stock_mc3_recovery.tar.md5 but I don't know if it was necessary. If you need it let me know.
Also, and I don't know if this matters, I odin'd from an administrator account on Windows. Previously I had only tried to use a normal user account.
This ****ing thing. I've flashed and flashed and refreshed. I finally said **** it and bought a new phone. Now it works.. Haha. Just my luck.
Sent from my Nexus 7
Yeah if you could send me all the files you used then that would be great.
I've been told (by eBay phone repair people) that it sounds like my phone just did the "sudden death syndrome" or SDS that deals with the eMMC or something like that.
I just realized you're installing mj9. Is your bootloader locked? Mine never was officially updated to mj9 so I had to Odin 4.1.2 (I think)
Sent from my Nexus 7
Yeah its locked.
Been trying to flash 4.3 from ODIN.
Oh, ****, sorry. Well, try the nand erase option and see I'd that helps. After that, reboot into your stock recovery and factory reset.
If you haven't already of course. Hope someone comes along soon to help you out.
MotoXde cm12
I had installed : cm-13.0-20161021-NIGHTLY-i9300.zip on my phone but everything seems to have been wiped by itself.
Now there is a new build i put on my SD card and went to recovery using TWRP and cant seem to load any zip files on the SD. it shows 0 files on the SD and internal storage as well which is strange.
In recovery shows 0MB on Internal storage,
0 MB on SDCARD
And also says No OS is Installed

Hi i cant find a stock rom for my phone.
Samsung S3 and for United Kingdom.
Will also need PIT file etc. Any Help
Did you check sammobile.com?
Pit file would be needed if Odin cannot read the partition information from the phone itself during the flash process.

The boot.img failure could mean that you need to use a different USB cable, USB port, of the firmware is not for the phone.

Will try this stock rom thanks and let you know. Are there any specific settings i should put in ODin?
I meant phone model number. If model number matched the phone and the boot IMG is fine, not sure why Odin fails.
I have Just tried your firmware @Sureshtuty that you suggested again got a FAIL

I had installed : cm-13.0-20161021-NIGHTLY-i9300.zip on my phone but everything seems to have been wiped by itself.
Now there is a new build i put on my SD card and went to recovery using TWRP and cant seem to load any zip files on the SD. it shows 0 files on the SD and internal storage as well which is strange.
In recovery shows 0MB on Internal storage,
0 MB on SDCARD
And also says No OS is Installed
Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300)
Any help please. I urgently need my phone back on.

It happens. It has happened and will continue to happen to the S3 units with eMMC chips from the faulty lot. I too had a near death experience but managed to avoid it. Had someone in my family who owns a service shop (i had a backup of my data before) replace my eMMC with a "clean" one. I think in 2013, late to the party, but the important fact is that I narrowly avoided all the headaches.
Hello guys. I just made a new account for this problem. I will really really appreciate if u guys help me out, because my parents are gonna kill me if they find out my phone has a fault. So here it is.
A few weeks back i rooted my phone but then snapchat stopped working because of its new policy or something and i decided to unroot the phone. In an act of stupidity i unrooted the phone through SuperSU complete unroot and ignored all the warnings. I know im an idiot (Please help me out folks) Then my phone got stuck on bootloop. I searched it up and found solutions through ODIN and all. So thats what i did. I dowloaded the drivers and downloaded odin. Ran my phone in the downloading mode. Btw i did delete the cache through recovery mode and have already reset it as well through their and nothing happened. So back to the ODIN. I downloaded the firmware, stock one. The problem is i dont know which on to download. Thus far i have downloaded two which are, G920TUVU5EPK5_G920TTMB5EPK5_G920TUVU5EPK5_HOME.tar.md5 and G920TUVU3EPD1_G920TTMB3EPD1_G920TUVU3EPD1_HOME.tar.md5. As seen in the tutorial, i put the phone in download mode and ran odin. There at first the <ID:0/008> Added!!
was shown as soon as i connected. But when i added the PDA file, it didnt detect it and remained the same at 008. So i went ahead with the start and this is what it says,

This was the case for both the stock firmwares. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME OUT. I cant let my folks find out. Can any of u answer this as quickly as possible? PLEASE! IT'D be a huge help.
Apologies if this has already been dealt with but Ive looked and cant find solution anywhere, 2 weeks looking through forums so far or I'm looking at wrong solutions or Im stupid and and keep following bread trails that take me into the nether regions of cyberspace never to be heard of again. I am trying to restore this phone for my son.
SGS2 will only go into download mode, (No Recovery mode no matter what - it freezes at Device name and model number) maintains a freeze at normal boot onto logo screen.
Bought new battery and new data sync cable.
Kies wont even install, moved to another PC. Kies installed but wont recognise Device, updated all drivers, removed driver reinstalled drivers dozens of times no luck. Please don't make me go back to Kies……
I have tried flashing stock rom with ODIN details below.
Odin v 3.07, have tried all other versions no luck this one advanced furtherest.

This is the most successful attempt of 20 attempts to reflash.
Tried Heimdall got stuck at Heindall frontend trying to locate firmware packages?? Gave up.
Is it Bricked or can it be saved? Any help from compassionate experts would result in a significant reduction in hair loss for me. I really don't want to go back to iPhone.
