ICS WiFi Questions

Hey everyone, I just got the ota update last night and love it! Everything seems to be running smoother than expected.
My only question is how wifi works now. It seems to just turn itself on whenever it wants. I checked settings and turned off wifi during sleep, but can't find a setting to keep wifi off when i want to. Is this a feature of ics?
Thanks for any help!
When I opened the stock browser for the first time, I got a little popup saying Wifi had automatically been turned on, and asked me if I wanted that behavior to continue. I've yet to find that option anywhere in the settings menu though.
Might want to check smart actions and see if that is causing wifi to automatically turn off/on.
Yeah I remember seeing that pop up and couldn't manage to find the setting either. Do you remember what it said exactly?
Checked smart actions, but don't have any enabled right now.

[Q] Disable Power Management Tips?

I've seen a few other threads for other devices on these rather annoying messages popping up, but the solutions in those don't seem to be valid anymore.
The two main solutions I found were to disable notifications for the apps "Extended Standby Mode Controller" or "Eco Mode Controller", but I have no such apps listed under Apps -> All so it seems they may have changed the name. I did search for com.Extended and com.Eco, along with com.sonyericsson.Extended / Eco but again, no luck there.
Normally these are a mild annoyance, but recently I've been using my phone more for YouTube, and if I get a notification whilst watching a fullscreened YouTube video, the notification bar and soft buttons don't vanish, meaning the top and side of the video are cut off. The only way to get away from that is to totally close the YouTube App and re-open it. This is annoying in itself, but watching YouTube videos means I'm more and more getting Power Management tips as the battery is run down.
Anybody know what the app controlling these notifications is called on the Z2? I'm running 4.4.4 rooted.
If you can't find which system app is notifying, did you try keep press on popped up notification and tap app info?
I haven't yet, but I'll give that a try the next time one pops up. To be honest, I had no idea I could do that
I use that method often. It works for me to finding app of the causing notification.
Well I was able to locate the App using that method, the app is "STAMINA mode", however even though I've turned off "Show Notifications" I still get the bloody Power Management Tips.
And the option to Disable the app is greyed out.
For now I've tried clearing the cache and Force Stopping it, but I suspect it will start running again later, or at the very least will need stopping whenever the phone is restarted.
I am rooted, so I suppose I could remove it, but I'd be worried about it potentially affecting the Sony ROM somehow.

Give it a try friend..

[Q] Android 4.4.2, the security option "verify apps" keeps toggling itself on

[Q] Android 4.4.2, the security option "verify apps" keeps toggling itself on
I don't like a scan periodically scanning my apps in the background, so I wanted to turn it off, but even after toggling it off (in the main security page in the tablet's menu), it ends up toggling itself back on a few hours later without my consent. Is that a common issue?
I went on the google settings page as well and unticked the two options to verify apps and send analysis info, and the funny thing is that merely accessing that page without changing the settings (and when they are already unticked) will automatically toggle the "verify apps" setting in the main security menu on the tablet. Although even if I dont visit that page, leave them unticked there and have it unticked in the main security menu, it will still toggle itself back on a few hours later in the main security menu.
What's going on here? Is google pushing that option to be on at all time to scan your apps regardless of users choice?
Has no one heard or experienced this issue?
To the people reading this who are using Kitkat, does your "verify apps" in the general menu remains unticked for extended periods of time without ticking itself back on? If so, do you have the latest versions of google playstore and google services? (can you even use old versions of those anyway? mine seem to auto update despite me having auto update disabled in the play store)
Anyone has any idea what is causing my issue and how I could solve it?
I just noticed this happening to me. It seems that if I uncheck it, then run the play store app, "verify apps" is checked on again. I don't know how to keep it off.

Disa says 'Huawei Protect Apps'

Hi there,
I got my p10 pro yesterday and I've loaded up a load of preferred apps to it - one of which is Disa messenger.
When I open it, a popup comes up saying 'Huawei Protect Apps, disa requires to be enabled in 'Protected Apps' to function properly' - and when I click on 'Protected Apps' it takes me to a blank screen with 'Lock Screen Cleanup' and 'No Apps' ....
I've looked up 'Huawei Protected Apps' on google, but everything I see refers to old settings menus - of which aren't labelled the same on my p10 pro.
can anyone help a brother out? I can't see or work out how to add this app
Has anyone figured out the 'Protected Apps' yet on this phone?
I feel like i have to open my phone every few minutes to see if i have any text messages, or facebook messages.
It's very annoying.
And its basicaly with every single app, i dont even get in time (sometimes) notifications to my smartwatch.. apps like voice notify and beacon doesnt works while screen is off.. Seems like huawei pushed to much on battery saving this time.
Looks like they have removed "protected apps" option. Now its only the "launch" option you can toggle from settings>battery>launch where there is a new "manage automatically" option. Turning it off, you can manage each app individually.
After that you can only check if the wifi settings to keep wifi on during sleep.
And also try toggling off "power saving" mode from settings>battery

Exactly, but even managing every app manually doesnt helps. i made all my apps to run in the background, i have some old LG (cheap one), connected the same facebook accounts, and that old cheap phone gives me every notification, while my mate 10 pro doesnt.. wth androind is going to..
Same here. :-s
My s7 is showing messages coming through, nothing on my mate until I unlock the screen

Thats sad and really annoying...
I've been struggling with this for the past hour to get an app to give alarm when display is off. And think I might have it working. I did set the battery management to manual mode. And I also set the app to have priority notifications. Now it worked, but it might be random. Need more testing.

It's buried, but you have to "ignore battery optimizations" by going into settings, then apps, then clicking the setting button at the bottom of the apps page, then "special access" and then "allow" the apps you want to survive in "ignore battery optimization". At least that's how it's on my Mate 10 (non-pro), so I suspect it's the same for you.
Thanks Rogerrynic. Was looking on my p9 everywhere for this setting as Disa kept prompting each day about it. Big plus for you
Another thing that might be causing problems is the "Smart Notifications", ironically. If you search for for it in the settings it will come up. Basically it says that it ranks app notifications based on importance. Then when the phone is locked it automatically clears ones it deems as non-priority. Try disabling this.
I've just received my Mate 10 Pro today, and I too use Disa. I'm working my way through all the possible different settings that could be causing this issue. Has anyone managed to get Disa to work without this message coming up still? (and I don't mean by just disabling the message).

Developer Settings not saving

Hello all, I'm trying to resolve my Bluetooth issues, but when I change the Bluetooth settings in developer settings, they do not stick. They just revert to the previous settings. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I really like this phone, but if I can't resolve the Bluetooth issue, it's not worth keeping.
The device doesn't support the setting change is the most likely cause.
Try toggling Developer options off and then enabling it again. Also try a reboot, clear system cache if you have that option.
