Hi guys,
I'm a long term Android user, but I'm trying to convince my gf to make the switch from Apple to Android.
She currently has an Iphone 4s and is very happy with it except it has ground to a halt as the apple updates have taken up all the storage space.
So she loves the looks of the s6 edge but i've seen really mixed results about the battery life, I don't want her to have a bad experience and then brand android with this issue.
Is the battery really bad?
Many thanks,
Andy

I would wait from marshmallow to roll out from the galaxy s6 because there are several problems such as bad ram management and poor battery life. There are ways to get around these issues; ex. Package disabler pro. The app allows you to disable bloat and increase the battery but these issues shouldn't be here in the first place. I would wait the I'll marshmallow so you can see if the issues are resolved and then buy it. I am using package disabler pro and I average 4:30-5:30 screen on time.

Hi Andy, the battery is not bad! I have since one month a galaxy s6 edge and the battery lasts me so 24 to 36 hours! Lg Markus
Thanks guys, we're really impressed with the phone but the screen on battery life is shocking. Which apps should I disable with the package disabler?
Is it just stock Samsung ones?

mostly iPhone user, but love the alpha design and feel.
Was wondering if I should jump shipps
The only downside from my own experience is that the reception is a lot worse than other phones. Mine often gets no signal in places where other phones can still get by with a few bars. After all, it is Samsung's first phone with metal frame.

Thanks for that! That's actually a big deal breaker.
I've never had issues with signal. ialso switched from 5s to alpha. honestly the only downside is the software updates. i still haven't received the lollipop update.
but still an amazing and beautifull phone
Thanks. I thought lollipop has been out for a while now....
s5 sukssss alpha is the king
Care to elaborate?

As far as design and functionality. The Alpha and the 5S is very similar. The alpha has a bigger screen (4.7 inches) and battery (1850 mah) but it "feels" the same as a 5S.
Some could care less about the lollipop update because of some lag issues and battery drainage. So if you have an international version kit kat 4.4.4 will be the latest OS for you until Samsung releases the lollipop update. The att version "may" update automatically upon boot but you can always skip the download part and stick with kit kat until you're ready.
If the alpha is your first Android phone there will be a learning curve going from ios to Android. Specially with the Samsung touchwiz skin. Some playing with the phone should remedy that.
Good luck!!

Thanks for that informative response!
I like small phones, can't understand the monsters which people use these days... Held the alpha was amazed by is portability.
Also, ergonomics is really under-rated these days. Surprised the alpha didn't get more traction.
Moving to galaxy alpha is a good decision.
Compact phone + better performance + better camera (better than iP6)
Regarding the battery.. I already countered it just bought spare battery and spare battery charger from online store.
The good thing about having a spare battery and spare battery charger is avoiding charging thru phone which is resulting to being a wall hugger and limited movements of course you can't just move anywhere while having usb cord connected to ac to your phone.
Charging thru spare battery charger is approximately 2 hours but you can use the battery for 12 hours or more, just plug it and forget it well atleast for 2 hours
Or If you have a power bank just put it in your bag.
According to gsmarena.com the galaxy alpha's battery test
click
52hours, so having 2 batteries then just doble the result
Really good looking phone, extremly economic battery saver electronic, better camera than most of the phones, really fast cpu and gpu.

Thank you all, this has been helpful.
Anyone knows where I can pick one of these (must be the international F model) online for a good price (any condition, any color)?
Thanks!

Amazon has them but still expensive (around $400) you can try
Ebay or even swappa.
Word of warning, if youre planning to use the g850f, it does not support 4g lte on att or t-mobile only 3g or h+ I believe double Check the specs to be sure.

I have both alpha and 5s. 5s still more smooth & responsive than alpha. I dont think there are any android phones that are as responsive as ios devices yet considering the alpha is one of quickest android phone ive tried.

Thanks for that! I can imagine. Honestly, iOS is faultless. I don't think I have ever seen a piece of software so honed together like iOS.
That being said, I am tired of the small display, not willing to shed 500 on the 6, and so the Alpha came to mind.
Yup. I'd still pick the alpha over the 5s anyday. Youll love the versatility of android and possibly also the amoled screen. The screen size of the alpha is perfect. I came from lg g2 and did not like the 5" at all.
On antutu the alpha scores higher(53k) than the 5s(40k). But real world usage iphone still flawless.
For aesthetics i prefer the alpha as well. I think it looks better than the s6.

If you can find the Exynos International Version it is faster with better Audio.
Alpha is excellent, rugged little Phone.
I use 850M International on Metro PCS/ Tmobile and I notice low signal often but call quality and stability is good even with low signal in Stores and even elevators.
Your carrier may differ.
Solid performance on Android 4.4.
You should be able to get new Factory Unlocked at $250 to $300. now.
Make sure the Bands are correct for your Carrier.
Hi there i've been using galaxy a8 since october and seeing that the s6 edge/edge+ is on a huge discount, i decided it,s time to upgrade. Now a lot of folks may say that i should have done some research over the forum prior to posting here and i want to tell you that i've done and what i see is it definitely is worth upgrading. But my questions circle around two matters.
1.I've done some research on the battery life of s6 edge/edge+ and seeing all the mixed feedback, i thought i'd ask about it so coming from an a8, i actually have pretty good battery life on it as it's screen is 1080p and i wonder how the s6 edge/edge+ fares on this department especially the difference between lollipop and marshmallow updates.
2.The s6 edge+ has 4gb ram while s6 edge has 3 does this 1gb of ram difference provides any significant improvement over the latter whatsoever?
Thanks in advance.
Mine's on lollipop yet... everything in this device is good... except the battery... it's awful!
I would recommend you to go for a S7 Edge or even a G4 (my girlfriend has and is very happy with it)
Don't waste your money.
I actually kinda hate G4's design as i'm in love with edge flagships'. What do you mean by that Tronix666?
My galaxy s6 edge has terrible battery life on lollipop but when i got my mm update my battery life improved immensely due to mm doze. I had to downgroade to wnable ny hotspot unfortunately but once someone gets it working on mm ill be upgrading in a heartbeat.

I thought battery is better. That's sad news.
Thanks for your answer.
i made the same "upgrade" i sort of regret it... maybe android 6.0 will be better, if it will come to alpha...
Thanks for sharing. I guess I will have to wait for a different small decent Android device.
I have a Galaxy Alpha and I had an iPhone 5, and frankly I think that the Alpha is a little bit better (only drawback, it's fingerprint scanner) ...
I own both. I like Both.
Finger Print on iPhone is better.
Camera on iPhone is more true.
Battery Life is better if you are a power user.
Alpha has Larger screen
Photos Look more vibrant due to color.
Removable Battery
2 Extra Buttons next to Home Button
I get better reception in certain building with Alpha
I like both, iphone is my go out fun phone since its small.
Alpha is my Daily Professional Daily Driver.
Hi guys,
Just wanted to have your honest opinion. I'm considering the iphone 7 as my next daily driver since my s6e will be 2 yrs already.
Are there any benefits of moving from android to ios? I'm a heavy media user and I always play high end games on my phone. I just download anything on the go in the internet. (I think ios does no allow this?)
Should I move to ip7 or wait for the next big thing? (S8)
Cheers!

Wait for the next google phone...any other custom skin on top of plain vanilla android will only screw the pure android experience...
IOS is a very closed OS : very difficult to install other that apple store apps. atualy the issue to jailbreak ios are limited.
The perf. off iPhone 7 are not so good.
If yo want to have a customisable smartphone wait for S8.
That'is my modest and honest opinion.
I might go back myself, tired of the lack of android updates. I only had an iPhone for a couple months. I traded it for this before i realized this was essentially dead in the water
If you're into android development and custom ROMs, I'd steer clear of galaxy s6 edge.
If the new s8 was more suitable for customising and had features like USB 3 and expandable storage, then maybe.
Like others have mentioned, the update cycle from Samsung software is very slow as well.
I'm also not a fan of the s6 edge form factor, and having owned one for a long time, find it uncomfortable to hold, even though stylish.

Thanks guys! Might as well wait for the next big thing from sammy. I'm considering pixel as well but it's hell a lot of expensive and might not be offered via carrier. Such a bummer..
I am also on s6 edge and I am considering to switch to iPhone due to very poor battery on my s6. Such expensive phone which does not last more than 10-12 hours is simply a joke.
I doubt I'll buy Samsung again honestly
Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Best Phone Samsung has ever made
i owned a note 4, for about 4 years until it died on me (dropped it, the screen popped out and that's it). since i owned a few Chinese brands (mid tier phones).
now after getting the note 9 i remembered why i loved my note 4 so much.
its a complete package, it checks all the boxes and overall an amazing device that gives me the proper value for the money. yes its expensive but its also the best of the best.
Overall I love it.

My first note device and first samsung device. I've used many other android devices over the years. I know the number one complaint above this device is probably the price. It's certainly the most expensive phone I've bought to date but ... It's worth every penny! I love it!!!
Can't fault it... Got to be the best all round device... If it had an ir blaster for my TV it would have an the bases covered
My preeeeeciouuuuussssssssss.
Coming from an S7 to a NOTE9, Wooooo what a nice change! Enjoying it so far, and am loving the S-Pen.
Cheers,

:good::good::good: Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is a fabulously tremendous phone that everyone loves. even Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is the best deal in 2018
Everything is perfect, loving it so much more than the Note8! Only gripe would be Bixby... it seems like they threw out some things Bixby 1.0 could do in 2.0 which makes it feel even more inconsistent now... It does seem to have better voice recognition though. For the time being, I remapped Bixby to Google Assistant (something I never did with Bixby 1.0!!!) until they fix Bixby 2 with some updates.
I would share my experience with my Note 9 (Exy)
I trink it is the better Note 8, wich i had before. Overall Speed, Accu & Devicequality is in my opinion so much better. The Display is one of the best i See so far, beside other Devices. I said this about my Note 8 Top, but with my Note 9, i can truely say it is the best Device i owned yet.
Experience from Samsung is absolue lag free. Atm i have the first Time no reason to root my Device.
I think that i will run this great Phone a few years

Coming from an S9+. I dig the Note design.
I love it but needs a little update regarding battery. Exynos version drain 1 percent an hour..

100 hours from a phone sounds reasonable to me.
I would probably rate this the best android phone i have ever bought if not for the crap battery life on the exynos version.
Best phone ever was still the HTC One m7 imho
Notes 9 is the best phone Notes so far.?
Just got the phone. Came from LG v20. Definitely a huge improvement. Also like it better than my S7 edge. Edge was my favorite phone to date until I broke the screen and grabbed up the V20 to hold me over. Got the note 9 buy one get one free so me and my wife can enjoy
Upgraded from my 2.5 year old S7E to N9 512GB. Loving it absolutely. Great battery life too, getting around 40% left at the end of the day.

I agree, I was excited to use Bixby but I cant find any of the features many people praised about!
i am pleasantly surprised. not many despised TW UI like i did. i actually liked the refresh on the s8, but the lag was still there.
i can confidently say they have finally fixed the lagging issue, albeit with raw power rather than more clever methods.
this is the best phone available right now. i've been flying through phones like crazy for the past 2 years, almost settled on my mate 10, then this came along. very happy.
After some teething problems I'm completely in love with mine. Finally something that's big enough for my hands! (with a case) I'm on Verizon-only one with decent coverage here. (Central Pa.) Can't get over how nice the display is and the sound is great on internal speakers. Using Nova launcher. Caveat: I was using ADW 2 and it wouldn't let me make URL shortcuts to the homescreen with Chrome. Nova works fine. FYI because I was pulling my hair out for awhile.
I use Package Disabler pro plus to freeze nuisance apps and stop Bixby, which I can't care less about. Adguard for other nuisances. Root doesn't matter with this one since it's so damn fast anyway!
I came from a V10 which was starting to not wake up and had totally abysmal battery life, couldn't get through a day without it dying. Note 9 has been going for two days straight... the bigger battery is what really sold me.
Others said it... best Samsung yet!
