I have a stock Photon and was wondering if Sprint charges for using the mobile or usb hotspot options. Seems to good to be true.

Yes, but you can root your phone and downloat wifi tether and get it free. Search the posts.

On my phone, the stock hotspot app doesn't work as I do not have a tethering plan. You can run the app but 3G/4G will be cut off.
android-wifi-tether beta6 works properly for 3G only, of course, after rooting and choosing the Galaxy 2/netd mode. However, it does not work on 4G and in fact, as someone else pointed out, it will disable 4G until your phone is restarted.
On my phone, barnacle tether works under 4G but doesn't work with 3G.
In short, root your phone. Use android-wifi-tether under 3G and barnacle tether under 4G.
does that only happen when using beta 6? I'm using beta 5 n 4g works fine for me.

I bought an AT&T HTC One and got it unlocked to use it in my country (Mexico) my carrier is Telcel, i can't get the mobile hostpot to work and i already rooted the device, anybody know what i have to do to get it working? i already tried deleting the At&t hospot api and odex, but that didn't work, also i'm using the app Wireless tethering but only my mac recognizes it, any help would be appreciated
Try an app like Wifi Tether for Root Users.

Ok, I know there is many threads/apps that claim to unlock tethering, but I tried every one of them and none worked. I found a blog called yawn4life that gave the only actual instructions that worked. I did this on ics stock but it should work on stock JB also. You can read it here : http://yawn4life.blogspot.com/2013/07/enable-tethering-on-at-lg-optimus-g.html?m=1 Enjoy
Tested 100% works.
Just a change. I used terminal from phone and made step by sted and works fine.

What network are you doing this on? I have tried wifi tether for root users and foxfi for at&t and I got a text saying I was tethering. I tried it a couple weeks later only for a minute to Google something on my laptop and they switched me to the 5gb plan. How can you do it so at&t does not know?

You only tether mobile devises such as a tablet if you don't want em to figure it out. Laptop / computer browsers handle data differently than tablets with mobile browsers.

Clockworkmod tether by koush claims to be able to hide tethering. It is USB tether though, and I haven't used it myself so can't confirm it works.
I used to use PDAnet and that worked for me.
Same for pdanet. Just used it a couple months ago.

I forgot what i did on my lg motion to bypass the tethering service from metro... I am rooted and tried pdanet, foxfi, barnacle, but my iphone that im trying to get the hotspot activated on never lets me get online without upgrading to the service...

This might work for you, I haven't personally tried it but I know what you're after, I use PDAnet to USB tether but if I try to do wireless tethering I get sent to a webpage that blocks me :crying:
