thought you had to be rooted to run TA Backup Recovery Program, so I would just first download the latest ftf from xepria firm, and then flash it with flashtool, then after first boot run the ta recovery program to recover my drm keys, then I would be at factory state with latest Factory Sony Recovery and Lollipop 5.1?

Hello. I need help. Im on stock GB 4.0.2.a.0.62, stock kernel and rooted. I installed cwm using the playstore cwm(xpack?). It says the cwm is not permanent though.
I was trying to install the "HASA GB v6 beta all" using the cwm(i total wipe first), but forgot to flash the kernel first(rage kernel?), and now it wont boot.
I cant enter the cwm i guess because the cwm is not permanent.
I tried flashing official firmware back using flashtool but hang at "Reading device information"
I tried flashing the unbrickingxperia2011 ftf and flashing the firmware again but it still hang at the reading device.
Btw, my device can enter flashmode(green led) n fastboot(blue led).
Help please! Thanks a lot

Is your bootloader unlocked? If yes, just flash the kernel in fastboot mode and then you should be able to boot in cwm
You don't need to install cwm using xparts, all kernels have cwm included, so just flash a kernel you like and you have cwm :good:

No, you need to do try it again like that:
1. Go to flashtool installation folder -> drivers: install all drivers for all devices/modes
2. Launch flashtool
3. Click the flash -> flashmode
4. Select the .ftf, don't exclude anything, but tick "no final verification"
5. When the poup appears, take your phone, and take out the battery
6. After 10 seconds, reinsert the battery and hold volume down. While holding volume down connect the phone to your pc
7. Now the flashing should start and we can hope it'll work!
8. Boot up the phone, root it, install cwm, restore the backup!
On a locked bootloader, you can't flash a kernel. You need to choose a rom for locked bootloader and follow all instructions like given there :good:

First of all you don't need to try PC Companion as it won't work on an unlocked bootloader!
Have you tried flashing another kernel in fastboot mode?

Hi,
I unlocked my bootloader, flashed boot.image and CM snapshot 12 and then after setting up my phone I tried installing TWRP 2.8 with that stupid TWRP Play Store app.
NOW i cannot get into bootloader OR recovery with neither the bootmenu nor adb commandline nor the Volume+- on reboot...
PLEASE HELP me get TWRP 2.8 on my device... OR get me back into Recovery... I'm going crazy here
Turning off the phone and using the volume buttons after turning it on, gives me a black screen with an orange LED for recovery. How do I fix this.
PLEASE, there must be someone out there that can help me get recovery back???

Hi guys.
I really took my time and I have searched the whole forum, all the threads involving rooting and also googled the heck of it, but still I am not pretty 100% sure how should I root mine Z2 23.0.1.A.0.167 after update as in many threads I found different answers.
Could please someone point me how to root my Z2?
Specifications below:
- first time root
- no custom recovery
- bought as 4.4.2, now updated to 4.4.4 @23.0.1.A.0.167
- UK, unbranded
I would like to get root, have custom recovery, could flash custom roms/kernels, etc.
I will really appreciate any help.
Thanks.
1. Use flashtool to downgrade to 314 firmware (exclude data)
2. Root and install recovery
3. Flash 167 rom
4. Useflashtool to flash pre-rooted 167 firmware (excluding data and system)
This method would alow you to keep your bootloader locked
I recomend using the TA Backup tool to backup ur TA just incase you want to unlock your bootloader
(when you root your device on 314)

I thought you can easily unlock bootloader via Sony code, as I checked mine in software info I would be able to do it, or am I wrong?
In case I have unlocked bootloader, I will just flash via flash tool for example the dual recovery, then flash prerooted rom and I am good to go right?
(when I will pass all of this I will write it over here)

Zu is not included yet. This is what HTC has been doing for ages. Not sure why everyone does it this way...
There are two rules in life for being successful:
1. Never reveal everything you know;
2.
Sony has now made these available for a variety of Xperia devices, including the Rhine family (which the Z Ultra is). Excellent news! Thank you, Sony ❤
Would this new bootloader brick the Z Ultra GPE?
ZU is now supported but I tried flashing it today over stock 5.0.2. Foraging showed as successful but nothing happens when I try to boot into recovery. The phone just reboots normally
What benefits is thing going to offer over what we previously had? Trying to figure out if I should wait with anticipation or apathy.

most likely it will brick your gpe. And you don't need this "new" boot loader, Gpe has all the features already. It's just Sony devices had the function removed.
This boot loader allows booting directly to recovery without having to go through the boot partition. GPE doesn't let you do that right?

As far as I can tell, only c6833 is supported so far.
But if you wanna give it a try, head over to sonymobile.com/developer. you have to install the Sony flash tool for xperia devices.
when you open the flash tool and connect your device as instructed on the website, it will show all the available 'services' you can flash to your device.
Have you guys succeeded in booting to recovery? Coz I have flashed TWRP to recovery partition and it doesn't boot
Regards
Would be interesting if the GPe stock firmware can be flashed after this, since GPe and the normal ZU are more euqal than ever with that.
Anyone tried to flash stock GPE after this flash ?
Since a lot of you guys seem to not get into recovery after installing the new sony bootloader i might share how i succesfully did it...
I've installed the new Sony-Bootloader (or how Sony calls it "TA-Update") on my Z-Ultra (C6833)
After that i immediatly booted into fastboot and flashed twrp to the recovery partition (fastboot flash recovery FILENAME)
Succesfully booted into the twrp-recovery version i flashed
Device didn't got wiped, but cache partition did get wiped
But i was running twrp-recovery (but im pretty sure it wasn't the newst version) before on fotakernel, also i was running aicp-rom
Didn't do any experiments afterwards, but we'll see what happens after i flash a new rom

The trick is to actually find a recovery that is written to work in the recovery partition, Saatvik Shukla has posted a build of TWRP over in the developement forum which works. The "Official" version over at twrp.me doesn't

You wiped everything and now there is no rom installed so its not going past the sony logo. You have two options.
1. Unlock bootloader if you want to run a custom rom.
2. Flash stock rom to go back to stock.
and how to flash stock rom , you need to have the flashtool , put your phone in donwloadmode ( volumne down + plug in the usb cable ) and then flash the stock rom of sony ( you can find the method on how to do it on google ) its simple and then you decide out of 2 options above from last post
Since your bootloader isn't unlocked your can use Sony Companion Software to repair your phone. When you click update there is a repair option. Select repair and hook up the phone in flashmode. Make sure your ZU is atleast 50% charged.

can you flash the stock rom again and copy paste the log here in a code quote like this one:
Code:
write here
And what is your model? C6833 etc..
What stock rom did you download?
Which drivers did you use?
And which version of flashtool did you use?
And lastly what settings did you use when flashing the stock rom? All options included so ALL partitions being flashed. And none excluded.
