Length between spring bars? - LG G Watch

I have just ordered an lg g watch (w100) and I am making a bike mount for it which will replace the band. Was just wondering if someone would be nice enough to measure (fairly precisely) the distance between where the two spring bars sit so i can get the bike mount done before it comes. I did an estimate and it should be around 53mm but just wanted someone to double check. Thanks in advance.

about 51mm (as in the bars that hold the straps

Motorbike weatherproof box?

Hi all!
I'm searching for some kind of weatherproof box to use on my Dragstar.
Something not too bulky and with recharge connection possibility.
So, if anyone has ever made or bought this kind of fixation, please, share your experience!
For now I'm using Krusell BikeHolder with PDair Aluminium Case and thinking about Krusell ORBIT FLEX. Both are not weatherproof, so just for café rides...
Thanks!
The product you are looking for is the Otterbox 3600 - my mates use them on their trail bikes and they are the dogs danglies. It is big and bulky byt it is crush proof and waterproof. you need to buy the box (about £60) and a handlebar mount. they also have an access hatch top and bottom to run leads through for charging and headphones.
Good luck and post pics
Thanks, matt_not_andrew. I know them well, even thought about Armor 2600, but it is still a little bulky. I don't make trial rides, just highways' journeys, so a good rain protection can be enough.
Thanks anyway for an advice!

Hello. I have ordered the Otterbox 1900 and it will be interesting to how to fit my Blackbird ..
My DIY approach:-
I bought a transparent pencil case for 30 pence and cut it to size around the Blackstone. Sewed up the edges with linen thread and glue and kept the zip on one side for inserting the phone. I had a handlebar mount from an old TomTom Rider unit and I attach my case with the phone on to this mount using heavy duty velcro. I made a little whole at the bottom of the case to accept the usb lead for charging from the cigarette lighter socket. It never comes off but I attached a piece of string/cord on the zip which clips around the handlebars in case it ever did fall off.
It's probably not completely waterproof at the seams but I have used it in all weathers and not had any problems so far.
I recently glued an old bicycle inner tube around the seam edges cut to size to give it extra protection. Not the prettiest but very light and functional. Use it a lot on my motorbike
Aquapak and velcro.
I've had a RAM mount for a while now and use it on my Thundercat. Cost about fifty quid including the aquabox, arm and mount for handlebars and it works a treat. I've only had my HD for a couple of days and haven't tried it in the box to see if it fits yet (I used to use it with orbit 2 and it fit with room to spare). I'll try it this weekend though.
Just checked and the Touch HD fits in the RAM mount aquabox
Super! Can you tell me which one exactly?

Cool! I'm at the verge of ordering the Ram mount Aqua box with handlebar fixture. But would like to know in what size box the HD fits (I suspect the medium...) and if it fits well in there (no sliding around or anything). So any info will be much appreciated.
Yep it was medium from memory - will check for sure later today if I remember when I get home. I got the short arm, the ball that bolts on to the back and there's a bracket that bolts on to the clamp of my clip on - I could take a pic if that would be helpful?
Did my Otterbox 1900 today, and HD is perfectly suited to touch screen. I have mounted RAMmount ball Clutch-reservoir and an arm that goes to the Otterbox None problem to see the dashboard either .. Satisfied with the deal.

Yes, a picture (if possible with the Touch HD in it ) will be much appreciated. That way I can see what it actually looks like instead of the commercial pictures. Thanks is advance.
Oooh, this I can't wait to see. If it works good on your clipon, I'll order a set myself.
Want to use my blacstone w/garmin mobile xt on my new bike
Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention that it's the ram aqua box I'm interessted in
And has somebody tried an Otterbox 2600 Series PDA Case ? It is a little smaller than 1900, but as the interior dimensions fit, it can be a deal.

Hello.
Right that you look after the Otterbox.
Good quality.
I have rammounts aquabox and in comparison this is aquaboxs screen NOT so clearly transparent..my otterbox is better clearly screen and much better touchrespons.
Right then, it's the medium aquabox this one
http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/ram-hol-aq2.htm
I've attached a picture of it mounted on the bike. As you can see it's bolted on to the clipon clamp: you just loosen the arma and take the arm and box with you, leaving the bracket and ball attached to the bike. I got the short arm which is more than sufficient I think and you can pull it upwards towards you either in bright sunshine or when you've got a fully loaded tankbag on the bike. The lens bit could be better I guess, but it does the job - the only thing you have to do is make sure you don't get any raindrops inside when it's raining otherwise it tends to steam up with the heat of the phone.
I run a USB cable through a hole drilled in the bottom of the aquabox, down the side of the tank and under the seat where it plugs into a cigarette lighter usb charger which plugs into a maplin lighter socket and into the battery.
Dude, thanks this is exactly what I am thinking about buying.
Would you mind taking a picture of just the bracket with the ball? I mean, when you've detached the arm/aqua box?
The question is what bracket to buy. Is it the RAM Motorcycle Zinc Coated 0.75" To 1.25" Rail Or Handlebar U-Bolt Base?
or the RAM Universal Brake/Clutch & Handlebar Combination Kit?
And they even have more to choose from. I don't even understand how to fix the Brake/Clutch Reservoir Base...
Ah, found the motorcycle mount wizard, which tells me that it's the first one I mentioned...
The bit that bolts to the clip on is this

This bolts on to the bottom of the aqua box

lmfao you drive a G35 too?
Not 100% certain but I think it's illegal to have something like that mounted on your windshield in California.
I am a cop in SC and its def not illegal here. Its also not in my field of vision so its absolutely perfect! best mount yet!
How does it hold up in hot weather or rain?
My GPS falls off (usually with a good bump or pothole), even with a clean surface.
I have all but given up on suction cups.

The secret to that is to wet the suction cup and make sure no bubbles (look from outside).

I have a Infinti G35 coupe and a Infiniti FX35 suv and I have honesly taken potholes and crazy driving with this thing attached to my windshield and it has held up like a CHAMP! this suction cup feels like its industrial strength. I am seriously impressed and for $12 it was the cheapest risk i could take. I def give my two thumbs up!
Looks interesting, may give it a try
Extend the mounting arm - suggestions?
I have the same (or very similar) mount I purchased from Wit-Global. My auto (Kia Sportage) has a windshield that doesn't support a good placement of the gtablet and still be able to see out the windshield safely. I would like to extend the bar that links the suction cup to the actual holder and bring it down to the position in front of my air vents. I would even try to stabilize the holder with zip ties to the vents in case of accidental suction dismount (the cold weather tends to drop the suction cup of my GPS unit off constantly although I have been riding around with the suction cup adhered for weeks albeit with no weight on the suction cup).
I thought about using some threaded rod to create the length and bend but I am concerned about the possibility that in an accident, the rod would become a missile and possible impale any back seat passengers (highly unlikely but since my kids sometime ride back there and now that I've thought of it ....). Any suggestions for a bendable solution? It would need to attach somehow to the ball connection on the bracket.
I may actually defer to the cupholder mount in another post but again I may need to bend the rod back toward the windshield. Maybe the clamps could fit on a bent piece of flat stock. Rigid, able to carry the weight of the gtablet.

I am using a TomTom Bluetooth GPS with Co-Pilot and BlueGPS.
How well is it held in from sliding out, basically if you take a hard corner will it move?
Yeah this thing would be a great GPS if out of the way like that. I suppose I should think about picking up a receiver. I see the TomTom but that's around $200 as opposed to many other $50-$100 solutions.
Any good reviews or topics on GPS connection with this device? Just wanna know the stability of the two. Found various topics about connecting the two but nothing that reviews specific devices.

Most states traffic laws forbid you to have anything at all except your rearview mirror mounted on your windshield. Most cops will let it slide with things like air freshener hanging on your rearview or regular size gps unit. But something like that will definitely get you in trouble. Hint: someone very close to me is an LEO.
That said, suction cups are not very reliable. I've had several fall off even with clean surface. I stay away from suction cups now.
I have a gps in my car. I put velcro to stick it right above the radio. No obstruction of view. May be you guys should do the same too iff you want to use this as your gps.

If you search the internet these standalone TomTom (and some other very, very similar) GPS bluetooth devices can be had for $35 or less. (Got mine for $15 at the time). That said it is not exactly plug and play and turn on and go like my dedicated GPS unit. But that unit doesn't have 10 inch diagonal either.
Keep searching the forum for this topic. There are some detailed instructions for using the BT GPS device, mock locations, BlueGPS and Co-Pilot as well as the voice components required (I am using VOX and an English voice, Victoria??? that I also purchased). It wasn't too difficult, other than purchasing the Co-Pilot from the market place, and then getting the settings correct including the enabling of mock locations and using a new voice engine (not sure it is required but sounds nicer). There were two files I needed beyond the voice file purchased from the market.

I ended up taking a short cut and purchased a bean bag for my dash that fits the suction cup. That places the gtab infront of my vents below the dash about 80% and doesn't block the visibilty. A few miles of test drives and so far the suction cup has held and doesn't lurch through corners. There is some left to right motion caused by the ball joint, but overall no up and down motion and the left to right is limited. It is enough that I have to reach over and turn it back to face me. I may snake some release-able zip ties through the vent and the bracket to provide some further stability and secondary hold for the gtab. I am only hesitant in that I want to be able to remove it from the dashboard when I park the car (nothing says "smash my window" like a gps mount on the windshield or dashboard).
Overall I am pleased with the suction mount. I recommend attaching it to a beanbag mount ($19 from Sears) if you are concerned about it popping of the windshield (one could even glue it to the beanbag I supposed to really lock it together. May I will come up with a velcro solution to stabalize the unit against the air vents.

I think the TomTom is being jacked up because of us tablet owners. I think the above liinks will still work (top is a detailed thread) and then look at some other units. The SB-369: Gosget SB-369 Bluetooth GPS Receiver unit is identical to my om 9T00.001. Also look for 1T50.080 which is a complete kit (also discontinued) that includes the BT receiver.

Hedgie Wall Mount

Hi guys,
Quick recommendation of Hedgie wall mounts. I bought a set of two from ebay for just 8 pounds. THeyre velcro, so I was very scared as to whether they would be able to hold the transformer or not, but theyre super strong. I have one in my living room and one in my bedroom. Cant go wrong! will be interesting to see how strong they are after a long time.
This is superb...
Hey I got mine directly from their website http://www.hedgie.net. This is indeed a great stuff. What a funny way to overtake a couple of millions of mounting solutions and leave them miles behind with it's practicality and quickness of mount.
Aaaaa, and you actually get two wall mounts in one package.
Hmm, I'm skeptic for the opposite reasons,
Isn't the velcro connection too strong?
Pulling the transformer off with its plastic and somewhat flexible back doesn't pose a problem?
I don't know about regular Velcro, but Hedgie works for me. I just go behind the device with my fingers and lift it towards the edge on the other side. Detachment works flawlessly. As for attachment... just a little push on the wall and it is on.
I favour a twist motion which seems to work well

Zenwatch 2 1.45in, not just for ladies!!!!

So call me crazy but I've had some serious apple watch envy the past year, and its purely based on the fact that the size is just right. I like the square design, but EVERY square smartwatch design just SWAMPS your wrists. SO imagine my excitement upon hearing asus was making a smaller 1.45 in version, then imagine my dissapointment when me (a very hetero male) sees that the 1.45 in comes with a "Diamond" studded watch face (yes just software i know) and a thin white leather band, so blatantly meant for the more feminine among us.
WELLL... i put my "Y" chromosomes in a metaphorical desk drawer for a time and bought the watch and a blue and white nylon nato band from amazon. When it arrived i stupidly slapped it on in its original girly state, we're all tech nerds and we know the elatement we feel at a new piece, and it immediately tarnished my view on the watch.
I can however now affirm that once i changed the watch face and replaced the band that it does indeed look most excellent on a male wrist. In fact it has a passing resemblance to the apple watch (which hate it or love it its a darn fine piece of design).
My opinions on the female to male conversion, mr/mrs jennings eat your heart out I suppose, were confirmed by the face that none of my friends or wife have said "he cool you're wearing female jewerly". Its extremely comfortable, works excellent at the gym with my vimovit app, as well as at the office. And ya know what for less than half the price of most other watches (many of which i've tried, 360 gen 1, 360 gen 2, and Sony SW3) it does everything they do with the same internals. (so long as you can face the face that all hear rate monitors as they exist in smartwatches currently are rubbish and only serve to further shorten your battery life).
Nice write up..

How is the battery life of the smaller Zenwatch 2? I'm also starting to believe that the smaller version isn't necessarily only designed for women.
With ambient black and white screen mode thingy on, it doesn't even last a day. Turn that off and I have 50% at then end of the day left after heavy use
Well, after reading tons of reviews, apparently the batter life shall improve after a few charges. Since I'm new to smartwatches, how useful are they in daily life? I do plan to use the swim.com app to count swimming laps, maybe some of you can test how accurate it is? Unfortunately, the ZW2 is still not available in my country.
Even through Amazon? (it just went up this week). I use it for fitness tracking and it works great. Aside from that I'm in a profession where I attend a lot of meetings where pulling my phone out wouldn't really be appropriate as well as I'm on the move a lot. The notification on your wrist are way more convenient that I thought they would be. Also it's a lot safer in the car that looking at a phone acreen
Yea here in the land of Asus the watch is still unavailable. That's really sad.
Today I found the first review of the smaller model. They report a very good battery life:

Asus websites says the smaller Zenwatch 2 is 45.2mm in length, may I ask does it include the lug or just the main shell of the watch?
Thanks!
Andrew
I think it's including the lug.
I'm a dude wearing a zenwatch 45mm also lol I actually bought a 20mm silicone band that I was able to trim just a little to fit between the lugs and it looks great

Add me to the list...
I am another guy who chose the 1.45 model. I am really happy with it, I used the watch band from the watch it was replacing and no one (even in my family) has noticed a new watch. Obviously it is bigger, but isn't so much different that it stands out. I was concerned about battery life but it makes it through the day even with more use than will probably be normal. Attached is a comparison that I created when determining which to buy.
I was almost sold on the smaller watch but they were sold out at Best Buy when I went so I got the only one they had (gun metal gray). Coming from LG G Watch (a true square) I am still very happy with the purchase. Although it is technically the same size, the curved screen feels great on my palm and the more rounded corners make it look smaller.
I actually didn't think I would like the button, but after a few days of "figuring it out", I now love it.
Just FYI,
1 Tap (toggle screen)
1 Hold (App Drawer)
2 Taps (Turns the screen completely off, requires tap to turn on) [differs from software theater mode from requiring a triple tap of the screen, same effect though]
1 Long Press (Power off)
As far as battery, I use the hell out of my phone and get constant notifications from work. I use Screen Brightness of 3. WiFi off. Ambient Mode. Styler has cool options like transparent notifications, full ambient mode, screen off timeout (5 seconds for me), Google Now popup location, etc. The biggest one is I set my screen time out for 5seconds.
By the end of the day (8am-6pm) I have about 70% battery left. Right in line with my LG G Watch.
My CoWorker, who gets the same work emails, has a Motorola 360 (first gen) watch and it is dead by 2pm. As big as it is I would think it had a huge battery. I am not sure what watch face he uses but I think he tried to turn off WiFi and lower his brightness.
OK, I wanna share my story with the 1.45 inch Zenwatch 2: ordered one, after comparing it's size with the apple watch, it looks nice and compact on photos. So after I received it, I removed the beige leather strap for women and tried to buy a black rubber sports band. The only one that fitted was a Casio watch band. But it was too narrow, still looked like a girls watch. After complaints of my wife that the watch itself looks too feminine and looks kind of weird on my wrist, I returned it and ordered the larger model. Message to future male buyers of the smaller Zenwatch: it's harder than I thought to find a suitable 18mm watch strap. The more rounded corners of the 1.45 inch Zenwatch does give it a feminine look. Also most probably only the larger model has a built in speaker.

I really like the look of the 1.45 version, i feel like the other would be a bit too big and awkward on my wrists. But i haven't really tried them on personally. Might sharing any pics
You can buy a 22mm band with a 18mm connector. They arent as easy to find but amazon had some metal ones for about 40.
I had no problem finding an 18mm black leather band at Target.
Too right
I innitially bought the 49mm watch and from the moment I first strapped it on I thought "This is just a little too big.
I traded it in for a 45mm model. After slapping a stainless band on it I'm very happy with it.
I think ASUS really missed the boat marketing this as a "Ladies" watch. I sure don't see anything "Feminine" about the watch now.
To the OP: IMO that strap is not only hideous, but makes your watch look like a cheap toy.
I got my wife the 45mm for Xmas. It was the $149 one with the gray strap. We both felt the strap made the watch look cheap, much like yours. So, I bought her the generic version of the 18mm chrome steel strap that ASUS sells with the watch for $199, but on Amazon for $10! Now she gets compliments all the time on the watch. Even her co-workers have asked if that is the same watch because it looks so much better.
My advice to you; get any steel 18mm strap on Amazon for $10-$15 and let the compliments come rolling in. You won't regret it because your watch will look so much better and expensive.
On another note, I recently got the 49mm gunmetal gray ZW2 with the brown leather strap. I love it. It felt big at first, but I feel like that is because the leather strap needed to break in because it was stiff and did not allow the face to sit on the wrist properly. After breaking it in, it feels much better and because it is more comfortable now seems less intrusive on the wrist. I will be taking my own advice and will order a gunmetal gray steel strap from Amazon. However, the brown leather strap does not look cheap, but classy in the first place.

Moto 360 - 42mm Black - Band?

Hey guys,
I bought a Moto 360 2nd Gen in the 42mm Black variant with a Horween leather band, It was the only option available at the time as i wanted it asap, And i'm actually satisfied with my purchase however i'm willing to purchase a Stainless Steel Black Band, However i can't find any that is compatible with the 42mm Variant as it takes a 20mm Band, I'm looking for a Black stainless steel one that consists of a butterfly clasp,
However i was wondering would any 20mm Band work with my moto360 even if it doesn't consist of the quick pin pull outs for the lugs?

make sure to order some extra pins as well, since the ones that come with the watch are attached to the strap.
For my 42mm I had gone for a cheap silicone band with quick-release pins to hold me over till I could get a proper stainless one. I figure for 12 bucks on amazon it's worth the peace of mind to know I'm not ruining the leather doing dishes or at the gym.
Got the 46mm since then, half because it was available with stainless
Get a spring bar removal tool from Ebay also, it will make your life much easier changing bands. I just bought one, they are cheap.

Ya, any 20mm band will work. This my favorite style of band, I got it from Amazon.

Do you find that the huge clasp on the bottom prevents you from putting your hand on the table?

It's not a huge clasp, no bigger than any other watch. Plus it has the advantage of all the extra band wrapping around on the inside of the strap, instead of the outside.
