When I format my android, it formats the internal memory, my question is this, can I use internal memory to install custom rom?
I appreciate your answer...

Hey all, I'm a complete newb at all this and I just wanted to learn a bit more about apps2SD and partitioning an SD card. I've searched the forums but could not find an explanation really of what these things mean.
I understand that there is a fat32 partition, and I assume this is where the pictures and music go?
What do the ext2/3/4 partitions do? Are they for caches and apps? What are the differences between the three and what are the advantages between each, if there are any?
What about a linux_swap. What does that do? Any advantages for it?
Thanks everyone!
Good day xda.
I just wanna ask on how to partition my sdcard. Im new to this stuff, and on android too. So please bear with me.
I have the mini pro, having problem on storage so i bought a 8gb sdcard. My apps is installed on internal memory and i cant find a way to install it on sdcard
Does anyone have a guide for partition?
Also, i would like to install some apps from market.. so my last question is..

Hi everyone,
I have a question, maybe the same question with some others. But it's very complicated to handle kernel, rom, pit etc... So please can you help me simply?
When i format the sd flash its memory reduced to 4GB from 11GB. I read the related tags but i can't understand perfectly.
please can someone tell how i can fix this? There is a program named ODIN, and .pit files and other things. What should i do respectively? And when i do that, is it going to affect my applications or complately format the phone? Because i saved my applications to internal memory (2GB). Now i don't use the memory of 4GB.
Thanks.
What?
Hi, i am flashing an update of the hariy bean rom, will be doing a full wipe.
I have seen ref to data2sd, have done a search and it seem this fools OS into using the external sdcard for apps.
I believe it formats the external sd card, so my question is, how can you install the new rom if wipe the internat and external storage?
Is the install of data2sd a 2 part process, i wipe and install rom copy new rom to interal memory and then do data2sd install wiping and formatting the external card?
is it really worth doing data2sd?
thanks

There is a lot more to data2sd than that..
You have to have a very fast SDcard with UHS-1 and then you need to partition it with a fat partition and an EXT partition using gparted.
If you don't know enough about it then I would leave it alone mate.
Hello,
I know this may have been covered already, but I'm somewhat confused.
I have cm11 installed on my SGP5 and it runs fine. However, I'm up to my storage
limit on the internal storage (~1.5GB) even though most of my apps are on USB
storage, and USB storage still has a couple of GB available. What are my options?
I've tried to digest references to Link2SD but I wonder whether I have to format
and partition the external SD first. I have quite a bit of data on the external SD card,
so I don't want to format, if possible. I have also seen references to flipping internal
and external storage or joining both. They confuse me even more!
Is there any way to access that free 2GB of USB storage? Can I resize any of the internal partitions?
I do have experience with partitioning tools on Windows.
Thank you,

Has anyone used the app System Cleaner Root? I tried it, and it freed hundreds of MB
on my internal storage. Could someone explain exactly how it works. I did a search
on Google Play for "dalvik cache" and this app led the list!
Thanks
