GPS borked - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there!
After I upgraded to Marshmallow on my Xperia Z5C, the GPS / location services have become a tad bit ****ed up.
As in apps either doesn't find it, even when it's on, so whenever I open apps like Jodel or Tinder, they ask me to open the settings and turn it on, but when I do, it's on. Or when I open RunKeeper, it only say "Searching …" forever and ever.
Or those who find it, plonk me down as being 45 kilometres north east of where I actually am, and when I move around, it doesn't. It's just frozen in place, in the centre of another city.
I've tried shutting it on and off, doing a hard reset, and even installing a GPS spoof to try to make Jodel and Tinder work, to no avail.
Is there anything I can do about this that doesn't include resetting the phone to the factory settings or sending it to service?

[Q] Market and Youtube problem

Hi Friends,
Few days a go as I was watching youtube videos for around 45 minutes continuously through the youtube app. The streaming suddenly paused and never continued from that point. I tried other videos but it kept on buffering (the circle kept on spining and nothing happened, as noticed on the leds of wifi router it seemed youtube app is not using the net but when i search for more videos the thumbnail do showup normally).
To over come this issue i tried reflashing. This happened when i was on the new HyperDroid_v4.0 with Pongster's MattedBlack v4.0 Surgeons which is amazing for battery saving.
I then tried reflashing HyperDroid_v4.0 again after formatting /cache /system /data /sdcard /emmc which wiped everything, but still no avail.
Then i again tried reflashing DarkyROM2 XXKH3 BASE (2.3.4) formatting everything but still no luck at all.
I even tried these flashing after Factory data reset selecting Format USB storage as well .
When i do the flashing everything else seems to be working fine as usual except the youtube playback and android market doesn't download, like i said for the youtube app, everything like searching the apps, browsing through apps details works fine except it doesn't download at all. It shows as if it's downloading but it stays as is forever.
Very sorry if same question was posted before this as i couldn't find like it.
I have been trying to fix this for 2 days in a row but still no luck.
Has anyone come across this same issue.
Please help.
Thank you very much in advance..
Update:The problem was finally solved after again formatting /cache /system /data /sdcard /emmc and flashed stock ROM though Odin and then I installed DarkyROM tool and then flashed DarkyROM2_KI3_Base ROM.
I will soon jump to HyperDroid_v4.0 with Pongster's MattedBlack v4.0 Surgeons again as it has superb battery life.
I will be updating you guys if the same problem persist.
Thank you all
Hello everyone!
Although I am not using GS2 (I have a Galaxy Note), I chose to post here because I didn't want to create a new post and I believe this is not a device-specific issue (see below for why).
I have the exact same problem as OP (as far as I can see). When I got my note less than a week ago, everything was working great. Then, last Friday I noticed that I cannot download anything from the market. After choosing to download something (both paid or free), after clicking "accept & download" at the permission screen, the screen goes back to app screen and market shows the app as "downloading..." with working, yet empty, progress bar. Everything else using the internet works fine - browsing from different browsers, notifications, email etc. I even tried installing an alternative market app, and it would download/install apps no problem. Also, downloading straight .apk files works as well. Later that evening I also noticed youtube app doesn't work - just the "loading" circle keeps running, until it times out. Browsing/searching market/youtube works without a problem. I am using the stock ROM and it isn't even rooted. Later, following some suggestions from google searches on the problem, it turns out that downloads work when I disable network and let it use mobile internet. I also later found out that it works on other wifi networks, just not my home wifi (which used to work perfectly, with no configuration changes to the router).
Next day I also found out that my girlfriend's android (LG Optimus Me P350) has the same exact problem, therefor it is not a phone model specific problem.
Here is what I tried so far:
Factory reset - left me with no apps and no way to re-download them. The market download did work ONCE after the reset, but that was to download the update to the market itself, nothing else;
Clearing Download Manager data - worked for ONE download. At first it worked for one download every time, meaning, after clearing download manager data, I was able to download one app, after that it would go back to the problem. I could then clear data again, and it would again download one app. After about 5 apps downloaded this way, this solution won't work at all anymore;
Force closing/clearing data of market, gmail, talk (in combination with above step) - didn't work;
Signing out/in to gmail and/or talk - didn't work;
Changing google account in market - didn't work;
Stopping/starting download countless times - didn't work;
Switching wifi on/off - only starts downloading briefly when phone switches to 3G while wifi is off. As soon as it gets wifi connection back, the download stalls at the position it was until I switch wifi off again (so it can continue to use 3G);
Switching phone to airplane mode, off/on, then disabling airplane mode - didn't work;
Changing phone's DNS records with an app to OpenDNS - didn't work;
Updating router firmware - didn't work;
Resetting router firmware - didn't work;
Setting port triggering on router for port 5228 - didn't work;
Port forwarding to Note IP for same port - didn't work;
Disabling router firewall - didn't work;
My router is Linksys E1000.
I think that is all I tried. I have been trying to find a solution for the whole weekend, and nothing as far. Searching google makes me believe that many people have had the same problem. I have found many solutions, which don't work, or only work once. This problem is really, really irritating. Also, I have found out that for many people the problem seems to randomly disappear without doing anything after some time (days to months), sometimes coming back and sometimes not. I experienced this myself when after going to sleep, I was able to download one app in the morning with no tried "fixes" at that time. This also makes me believe that there are many "fake" solutions, which did work for some people, but not for others - quite possibly, while these people were "solving" the problem, it actually solved itself, yet because the person did something, he/she believes that was the solution. A notable example of this could be "google account 24-hour reset" where users experiencing the problem are suggested to log out of their google accounts everywhere and not use the account for anything for 24 hours. Seeing as this is possibly a problem somehow connected to another device, not just the phone itself, I did consider flashing DD-WRT on my router, but I wouldn't really want do do that since my router is not that powerful and with all the DD-WRT features my broadband speed gets capped at about 65Mbit/s. Still a lot, but I have a great internet connection and am able to get real speeds of about 90Mbit/s with stock router firmware.
If anyone has any ideas, please share Thank you in advance!
Just a quick reply - I contacted my apartment building network tech, and he said that they didn't do anything regarding the internet that day, but they did however do something to offer TV service to residents (edit: The TV network shares the same hardware as internet's). He said that it shouldn't have changed anything regarding internet, but he would look into it. A few hours later everything is working.
Of course, it could be one of those cases where the problem disappears with no apparent reason, but I guess they did something to fix it. So, if you are experiencing the same problem (market downloads not working and youtube app not playing videos), and you have tried everything else (preferably confirmed the problem persists on someone elses phone), I would suggest you start going up the chain to whoever is managing your network (after yourself). If at all possible, try getting wifi access through someone else who is using the same ISP/network - if the problem persists even when connected to another AP/Router, it's pretty sure the ISP or network is to blame.
Hope this helps someone, since I wasted a few days on this

[Q] Needing help with S5830L

Hi, everyone.
After a slight fall, my S5830L started rebooting randomly. In some cases it just shutdown.
Looking for causes, I've found that when Data Connection is active ( In Settings - Wireless and Network Settings - Mobile Networks) it reboots.
If I turn off Data Connections everything is fine. I even can connect using WiFi when available, and synchronize accounts, send emails, access market, etc. All OK.
When I check again Data Connection option, sooner or later (rather sooner) it fails again.
Has anyone heard about issues like this? I need some help to deal with it. I can use almost everything, except data connection, and I really miss it
Thanks to all for the answers, any idea is welcome!
Augusto.
PS: Hope my mail is clear enough, since English is not my native language...

Hi, this is not normal, what firmware do have you installed?
This problem may be occur with any program installed and not for firmware problem.
I've flashed at least three different firmwares and with all the same problem persists.
Right now i've Android 2.3.6 (from Entel PCS, Chile)
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-perf- CL771662
Compilation Number: GINGERBREAD.UBKPL
Baseband Version: S5830LUBKPL
The problem started after my son dropped the phone downstairs, just a couple of steps, though...
I don't remember installed anything wierd, for that time.-
PS: I took the info about Entel PCS version from your web. Thanx. Nice Job!
I would have to agree that it sounds more software then hardware based. Usually if hardwares broken its very predictable. I would try to restore a different firmware stock or custom. I have an L and went with a custom rom. The data dropping might be a baseband issue but someone more wise than I would have to comment on that.
The wierd thing is that on the first connection it works, at some point the connection hangs, then while trying to reconnect it shutdown.
I was running a Samsung's 2.3.4 firmware when the problem started, then I flashed a Personal Stock 2.3.4 firmware (the original, that came with the phone), after that tried Entel PCS's 2.3.6. I keep this one because it's the newer version...
All behave the same way. The baseband should be the same for all, because the L (S5830L) is for LatinAmerica, and I've always double checked this.
Hi,
Have you tried to flash the original stock ROM again? You can download it from http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
This site also explain how to use odin to flash the firmware.
My Android version is 2.3.4and Baseband is S5830LUBKPF and it works OK
I believe it might be hardware wise. Have you rooted you SGA already?

[Q] Location Services problem on Helly Bean Rom

Hello,
I am new to all this root stuff but I did manage to root my phone and install Helly Bean Rom. Everything went smoothly insofar as I didn't brick the phone. However, I have come a cross a problem that I am hoping someone can help me with.
Basically, my location services don't work when I am just using standard 3G mobile data. Google maps, FB checkins, Google Now, nothing. I wasn't even able to get a hold of any GPS signals and as such, my location services were non-existant. I did manged to flash a new modem version that fixed my GPS locating issue, as I can now get a fix on GPS and everything works (location wise) when the GPS is connected (oh and on wifi as well!).
However, that still leaves me with the problem of no location services during mobile data only. Everything else works, surfing the net, google play store, I have no problem connecting to the net. It just seems as though I can't get a location fix on mobile data alone. I guess I should be happy that I got the GPS to work seeing as though I can get my location sorted that way...but I feel short changed.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I am learning as I go so please bear with me. I don't know what details to provide but here is what is in the 'about phone' section...
Basband Version: I9100XXLQ6
Kernel Version: [email protected]#1
Build Number: cm_i9100-userdebug 4.1.2 JZO54K eng.
Not sure if any of that is actually useful.
Thanks in advanced!

[Q] I can't send/receive sms or calls until I reboot.

Hello folks. Been lurking on the forums, grabbing what info and software and tips I needed for a couple years, but never had a need to post something. Now, the problem has been described already in the topic title, but I'll elaborate.
Somewhere in a period of 24-36 hours of being turned on continuously, my phone (a Sony Xperia Go with Cyanogenmod 11 running on it, but the problem was there before with stock rom too) needs to be rebooted, else I can't receive or send text messages or call. The text messages simply won't be sent and I don't get a waiting tone (or any sound for that matter) when I try to call and it'll eventually fail.
Now when I still used a stock rom, I'd see that I had lost network connection, but on the current Cyanogenmod build I still have full bars. This issue I then have to fix by rebooting my phone, as I stated. I have not tried setting it to airplane mode for a quick fix, but in all honesty, I'm looking for a permanent fix, not a temporary one. And this also seems to be an issue that isn't just with my type of phone.
I tried looking for a solution already several times, but all I could find that described my problem was this thread. I have not tried ordering a new sim card from T-Mobile yet, since that costs money over here in the Netherlands, and I wanted to make sure I had exhausted every possible software fix before trying to fiddle with hardware.
Hope this is enough information for you guys to at least tell me something. Even if it's "yup, you're boned."
Gentle bump. Apologies for doing so, but I'm fairly certain I'm not the only one with this problem.
I'm having this same issue. I'm running the latest stable build of CyanogenMod on Maguro (CM11/Snapshot7). I push my SMS's through Google Voice (using CM Voice+ which is now integrated into the systems menu). I didn't notice exactly when the problem started because I have Hangouts and SMS integrated in the Hangouts app, and chat with people using both all the time. I do know that The problem didn't start after a CM update, it happened in the middle of the day while the phone was on as far as I can tell. Since then I have tried clearing caches, updated to the newest nightly release, and so forth to no avail. Rather than rebooting, I can just turn on airplane mode and turn it off to get my SMSs, but still quite a bother.
Did OP figure this out?
Nope. I ended up having to get a new phone, as it was getting worse and worse, up to a point where I had to reset it every hour. I just assumed it was a hardware problem and got a new phone.
I did a factory reset / complete reinstall and still have the problem.
After the reset and recovery, I assumed it was a telephony issue and messed with the APN and data settings as much as I could, including checking and editing the default databases. No avail.
I uninstalled Google Voice and turned off Voice+ and SMS's began working with my SIM number. Bingo! So I started messing with Google settings. Log out, log in. Reinstall apps, etc. I eventually discovered that whenever I tried to clear the cache on my Google Play Services my Settings would crash. So i figured that I had a corrupted Google Play Services, which was preventing my phone from syncing with Google Servers except on reboot or connection refresh. I later realized that I should have been tipped off to this by the orange wifi/wireless icons in my Settings dropdown.
I couldn't uninstall or update Google Play Services so I just downloaded the latest version of CM GAPPS, cleared app and Dalvik caches, and flashed GAPPS into place.
Bing, bang boom... it still didn't work. Icons still orange, Google Play Services still crashes when I try to open it from Settings>Apps.
Not sure what to do next except maybe another factory reset, and instead of using Titanium Backup to restore, I will just load a fresh version of CM11 and not update it. ??

ATFWD-daemon keeps phone awake

See screenshots. This happened for the second time now, a reboot fixes this.
But I want to get rid of this! I haven't found anything in the build.prop.
With a Google search, I've found some vague reference to a Qualcomm radio service, but no details.
Is anybody in the know here?
I'm running 10c, unlocked, rooted and decrypted (850).
Edit: it seems to be the miracast functionality: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/com-qualcomm-atfwd-service-bloatware-t2820010
It's located at /system/app/atfwd
So I cannot deinstall or freeze it. I wonder why the phone was kept awake, though. It happened after charging the phone, before it was OK...
