Will this TWRP and Surnia kernel work on a Canadian version of the Moto e? I'm about two days away from committing to this root job. Id like to know ahead of time.
Thanks on advance knowledgeable people!
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "this TWRP and Surnia kernel." However, I do have a Canadian device from Telus and TWRP works fine with it. The version I use came from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/orig-development/twrp-moto-e-2015-recovery-t3049726 I've been using it for months with no problems, aside from the correct time not displaying(which doesn't really matter).

Works great! After some delousing! Lol. Had to try a few different configs but I landed on a sweet combo of the latest TWRP 3.0.2 (with Squids kernel) and CM13 for Surnia. (XT1527 AKA Moto-e 2015 2nd gen Canadian Version)
Thanks for earlier!

I have a Moto E LTE - XT1527 that I purchased from Staples.
Unlocking via Motorolla was no problem.
It is important to ensure you Flash the XT1527 RETUS 5.1 modem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/help/moto-e-2015-modems-t3296044)
Flash the latest TWRP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/development/twrp-squid-twrp-recovery-moto-e-lte-t3137649)
Then install your ROM of choice along with Gapps in TWRP
As far as custom ROMS go I tried a few different ones and found they couldnt encrypt my phones storage.
Then I tried Bliss-v6.2-surnia-OFFICIAL-20160324-0130 and it works like a dream. I must say that so far Bliss is my favorite ROM (http://downloads.blissroms.com/Bliss/Official/surnia/).
I found this tutorial video helpful when I first began all this (https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+root+the+moto+e+2015+and+unlock+the+bootloader)

Thanks for the info. How important is flashing this modem? I managed to flash TWRP (Surnia) the ROM (CM 13) and the GApps without doing anything about the modem and things work pretty good.

I have worked with Dees_Troy to get a build out for the OnePlus 2. Download available here: https://twrp.me/devices/oneplustwo.html
Please test and let us know if there are any issues. Should work with all three devices. I currently have a2001 64gb.
Current version of TWRP will flash OTA's. I have tested this.
if anybody wants to become a device maintainer let us know. You need required skills to build TWRP from source.

Is Device Encryption supportet in this build?
I haven't tested that yet, not something I would normally use.
works on A2003 64gb! thanks!
There's an issue with the device name of recovery. Currently it's "oneplus2" which prohibits OTAs from being installed because it requires device name to be "OnePlus2". (Case sensitive)

You need to be familiar with building twrp from source. Meaning, you're grabbing the device tree from github and merging it with the twrp sources.
@Stephen: As soon as I get a new PC (should be somewhere around next month, maybe November), I could help out once I got my build environment set up.

Not in the TWRP app, it needs to be updated first I guess. But you can download and flash it using Flashify.
I was just about to ask about encryption support. Looks like only way to update is with an otg cable but my USB c adapter hasn't come yet.
I have this TWRP 2.8.7.0 version, installed on my OP2 64GB A2001 since about a month ago.
So? What is actually new here? Should I install the "new" version over the same
version, that is already installed on my device?
Hi! For some reason i can't get TWRP to stick
i can boot into using fastboot boot twrp.img but using fast boot flash recovery twrp.img doesn't stick ....original recovery always come back.

As a disclaimer: I do not own the sources/rights from Mokee rom dev team and its actual mantainer so in case is needed they have the right to down this post.
I`m not responsible for any nuclear explosion/dead devices/bricked/etc...,any modding you do is up to you.
As a lot of you know this device was born dead, the only possible way to get an actual android version was by installing CN rom or selling the device and get another, well, senior devs from china work very hard to get newer android versions ported to a lot of devices, as in this case MR Yang Cyborg has been pulling out some really impressive work.
This is my install/review doc from him/her/their rom version for this our NX609J.
ANDROID 9
REQUIREMENTS:
----A fully functional NX609J
----A windows/linux/macos device
INSTALL METHOD:
----Be in stock global rom, configure the device and program the fingerprint sensor, then delete the fingerprint and screen lock ,doing this avoids a bug when inside mokee you may not fingerprint
----Unlock bootloader and flash TWRP
----Boot into TWRP, flash Data, Dalvik and cache
----Flash mokee and gapps, in my case i use nikgapps
----Reboot into system
REVIEW (USED FOR 2-3 WEEKS, CLEAN FLASH UPDATED FROM RELEASE TO HISTORY)
As i get into my first impressions on the rom, i feel immediately the improvement from stock global and stock CN, every option works, no app bugs and seems to be fully stable but every day almost consistently i get a system reboot , believe is due to some watchdogs inside the system but it does not affect daily use, every bank app that i used works flawlessly, games, everything works.
The only downside is the random reboot, aside from that the rom is at least for me, perfect.

As 06/06/2021 with release 210730 the rom is pretty solid, but there are some bugs, especially the camera does not work at all, aside from it everything installs and run perfectly, any app that tries to use the app will FC.
When update comes out i`ll post about it .

Dual sim i can not assure,my device only has one sim slot.
The device is a Moto G7 Plus with a freshly unlocked bootloader and running on off of a "fastboot boot twrp-3.6.0_9-0-lake.img" which appears to be the latest from twrp.me
See screenshot image and recovery.log attached
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've not been able to come up with a solution.
Thank you!

Could it be an issue with the new twrp build? Have you tried booting and flashing the older 3.5.2 version?

Hey Teo, oddly enough, TWRP flashed successfully despite the error message. I guess the error message has something to do with A/B slot conditions which I'm still not totally understanding. I know that the Moto G7 (not the plus) requires some copy-partitions-AB.zip according to an install guide that I'm using. Again, is good to go, unfortunately I hard bricked after flashing Lineage 18. I was told that I needed latest OTA for the device which I thought was already on there. I connected the device to wifi and tried to run update just before flashing TWRP but updates failed to download. So for now, I'm just another "Brick in the Wall" lol. Noob level 5000, sucks.
The G7 plus also requires a copy-partiosions-AB.zip to prevent bricking from different software on the 2 slots. It can be found somewhere here on the forum. Also there is a way to flash the latest OTA manually via fastboot. A guide can also be found somewhere here on the forum. You can download the OTA images from lolinet (https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/lake/official/RETEU/).

Thanks again Teo. Question : is there a way to unbrick the device if it won't even power up? I've tried every key combo that I could find but can't even get a charging status when I connect it to power. I think it's now certifiably hard bricked. Dunno

factory cable / charger only, no other cables. I sent the device to a dev for kicks, see if he can un-brick it. Not holding my breath though. Stat tuned . .
Hi all! I hope this is the right spot to post this. I'm looking to install a custom ROM onto my Moto E4 Plus (Owens XT1775), but I'm running into issues.
- Tried updating to a new version of TWRP, now it's saying I need a password to decrypt, and none of the tools I'm finding are helping
- Tried replacing TWRP with an older version, same issue happened
- Tried going back to a stock recovery but can't find any
- I really just want to a custom ROM on this thing >.>
Can someone point me in the right direction on figuring out my TWRP issues, even if it means starting all the way over? I've had TWRP and Magisk on here for more years than I care to count, so I don't even remember the version it was using. If anyone has recommendations on custom ROMs that would work on this device too, that's much appreciated.

Alright, so I found a guide that said factory reset from TWRP would help but now I can't boot into the OS at all, it keeps bringing me back to TWRP. I'm assuming I need a factory image to fix that but no luck finding one yet.
I have a file in my computer named OWENS_RETAIL_7.1.1_NPR26.58-25_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml. It's 1.3GB . Is that the stock rom that you are looking for?
I am looking for a guide to install custom rom into my Moto e4plus so I can install new versions of apps. Is that what you are doing? If so do you mind give me a few pointers once you are successful?
There are a lot of posts on here but I am confused as to which one to follow. My phone is rooted and is on service with Verizon and I don't want to lose either.
Thank you much!

I'd super appreciate the file! I'm not sure if it's exactly what I'm looking for but it wouldn't hurt to try. I'm having a hard time finding support for this specific model of device, but I know there are some unofficial ROMs that are floating around for the owens/1775 model.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rescue-and-smart-assistant-lmsa-motorola-lenovo-only.3951714/ This may have just saved my bacon, at least on the stock ROM part
Alright, so we're back to full stock, except now I cannot get my computer to recognize the device in fastboot... any ideas?

This is your problem. You put adb instead of fastboot *facepalm*
Hi.
For people that are unaware some LG phones have almost and even no custom roms at all, that is the case with the G8x which is a shame for such a great phone,
fortunately something called Generic System Image (GSI) exists, it is a way for to get a custom rom with basic functionality for a wide range of devices.
I love the Quad Dac, it is one of the main features of a flagship LG phone, unfortunately it almost no developer owns an LG phone anymore so nobody is fixing it on GSI roms.
fortunately i found a kinda dirty way to fix it.
there are quite a few steps, so please be careful and pay attention:
1) On a stock (i used a11 iirc) rom Flash crDroid, other roms may or may not work
2) Flash TWRP and reboot to recovery
3) Flash your favorite GSI, i used crDroid 9.1
4) Flash Magisk, Flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt if you dont want your data encrypted
5) on the magisk app flash LG-G8X-hifi-quad-dac-fix-GSI.zip
6) Reboot your device and a new "Quad Dac unavailable" icon should appear on the status bar edit
7) Plug in your headphones, touch it and enjoy!
Bonus* Hold the icon to enter the app and modify some stuff
Bonus 2* DP Should work, idk if Dual Screen works since i dont own one
Bonus 3* AOD also should work.
Just to clarify, i didnt develop neither the app, the files or the scripts, this was based on Fasheng's job,
the files were replaced from Lineage 19.1, i just put everything together so if something doesnt work
i may not be able to fix it.
Also, this may work on other LG devices (like G8, G8S, V50, V50s, etc) if you provide a rom for it.
you can use stock rom as a base but this may not work for you.
Changelog:
1.0.0 - Initial Release
1.0.1 - Removed incorrect steps on the description and readme
Enjoy your music!

i did it with TWRP, in order for the DAC to work you need to flash crDroid zip for this device as a normal and then you flash your preferred GSI.
There are plenty of guides on the internet for flashing a GSI, i can give you this one but any should work.
