Please don't bash the noob. The story starts, I got this Eris off eBay and had it flashed to metro pcs for $65. Before i left the guys house everything worked (call, text, mms, web). I saw it work and it looked like a good job. Got to work and wanted to play and set up my new phone. The 1x at the top of the screen hurt but what the heck its $40 bill. I surfed and set up my g-mail all good. I could not set up my hot mail so i took a break. Got back to my phone playing and the 1x at the top is gone. No more web or mms. Calls, text, wifi all work. I tried clicking the Mobile network and it just says turning on, but it does not. I taped and re-taped every setting and 2 days later still the same. So if someone could help me I'm willing to learn. My only other shot is to go back to the same guy with my wallet open. Please guys don't let that happen.

I have another ? maybe someone that already has a metropcs flash can answer this. If i go to settings/ privacy/ factory data reset - will it erase the 2.1 os Root and metropcs flash. I was woundering if that would fix my no web no mms problem or would it turn it back to stock verizon. many thanks....

Yes and thank you I did see that post. It just went over my head a bit. I ended up calling the guy that flashed metro for me with no problems. He was real cool (no charge). He told me metroPCS changed some settings server side. So 20 min later and I'm back online. He is real tight with his info cuz this is how he pays his bills. I did ask him about the reset through settings and I'm glad I did. His answer is it would remove the internet and mms part of his work.
Please help!`
I called the people that flashed mine and they want to charge me to fix the issue. Does anyone know how to fix this issue but in layman term? Please?????
I'm sorry but i don't know. This past weekend after my internet and mms went down I was checking craigslist. I saw more than a few post saying your internet not working $20 and we fix. So i guess my guy told the truth that metropcs had changed something. Good luck to you look around and find the best deal...

I have metropcs flash and a hard reset (factory reset) does turn it back to stock verizion. I had to go back to the metropcs store to have it flashed again.
My Motorola Droid NO INTERNET or MMS issue
I had my Moto Droid flashed in mid September and everything was sweet. Internet worked great, google maps, picture messaging. the key is that I had to get the flash done "underground" becuase Metro PCS stores don't flash in a way that facilitates internet and MMS. So anyway, by the 10th of Ocotber, the internet was gone. I tried all kinds of restarting and re-configuring settings...to no avail.
When I called Metro PCS customber service, they told me that since I wasn't supposed to have internet in the first place, they removed it. He said that I would have to purchase a metro pcs phone, if I wanted to have the full service again.
Then, I called the Metro store owner who had linked me with the underground setup in the first place. I asked him about this issue and he confirmed that Metro PCS had, on the 1st of October, begun eliminating internet from non-Metro phones. Apparently (my opinion), no one is buying the ridiculous low-qual phones metro has to offer and so they want to lash out and force people to buy their phones.
I say they either get better phones or they lose a lot of customers. Yes, it's only $40 but is it really worth all the hassle.
There are tons of internet repair services for $10-$40 on craigslist, but does anyone know how long the fixups last?
All of what you say maybe true. But I'm not sure. The reason I say this is 1) Metro PCS is getting ready for 4g. 2) When I log in to my account at Metro the phone listed is one they sell. 3) now this one could go either way - my guy does agree with you but says it rarely happens. I.E. he is a hacker. My thoughts not really he has had more time to play with phones no more no less... Now as far as luck goes I got you beat. :-( My internet turned off in less than 15 hrs. Now the $40 bill yes you get what you pay for, so I will take the 1x. But anyway it goes and no-matter who is right I will keep my fingers crossed.
How do you return to pre-flash status?

Eris MetroPcs
You do not need any special ROM for the Eris.
Just use the available Android 2.1 ROM that is the normal ROM update from Android/HTC. File on the web: PB00IMG
Install that file. Then use Token's Metropcs v3...not v3.5 beta! Also install u2nl and Autostart. Download from Market.
You need to set all the settings on the phone via ##778. YOU MUST HAVE A FLASHED MetroPCS Eris!! Make sure the MNC is set to 27...not 12!
For the Eris, there is no need to use QPST or CDMA Workshop like everyone says.
Password is your MSL from whiterabbit.
cheers

Yesterday I bought an i717, an unlock code so I can get it working on T-Mobile, and put the newest Cyanogenmod nightly on it.
I noticed that my data speed was stuck on Edge and found out with some searching that this was common problem. I went to this thread and have followed it's instructions but now I've hit a wall and can't figure it out.
I've flashed both the radios that should work but am getting no working results. Can anyone offer me a hand with this? I would greatly appreciate it.
I don't have T-Mobile but suggest try different ROM. Also make sure have most recent twrp

I'll give that a shot, thanks
Thanks for the reply. I tried all that, new TWRP and all kinds of different ROMs but the problem persists. I did notice one thing however, and that was when the phone had the ROM flashed on it, brand new (like just after a factory reset), 4G worked really well. That is up until I turned the wifi on. Turning the wifi back off, and/or restarting, and/or clearing cache and dalvik will not get the 4G connection back. I'm at a loss. Also if I try flashing a different radio I'll have the disappearing APN problem. So for now I'm stuck with EDGE.
What other options could fix this? Could the build prop be making a fuss? I don't really know where to go.
It sounds like your sim isn't a 4g provisioned sim. The APN would stick if the sim was appropriate.

Tho I guess a new SIM card could be worth a shot.
This is "The Answer Post"
I got it! It was in the mobile network options. Since this is an ATT phone with an ATT radio I had to think a little differently, since I'm used to T-Mobile settings. The "Data Roaming" and "National Data Roaming" check boxes were unchecked. Again, being an ATT radio I guessed that these needed to be on. Once doing that I went down to network operators to manually select "T-Mobile" as my network. Once I did, voila! 4G connectivity now works like a charm.
Just wanted to let the internet know, in case someone else needs this.
Good save!
Short version... I installed CM12 official. From that point forward I have been plagued with a persistent network issue. Obviously I know this is my go to group of peeps. So here I am.
As pictured below I have many more options in preferred network type then I probably should have. Also I have more APNs then I remember previously having. I'm not even sure the APNs are setup correctly. I just need to know how to revert to how it was before the CM12 install. I have sense changed the radio twice to attempt a fix and have also installed two other ROMs. One of which worked fine before the aforementioned issue. If I select from below LTE / WCDMA, I get data with no cellular service. If I select CDMA + LTE/EvDo I get cellular service with only 3G data. Please someone have an answer for this one.
Bump. I have done plenty of searching. What I did see was there are three files that I maybe missing. They are referred to in another very similar posting on how to unbrick a bad flash from N7100. That being said. Those files mentioned are not available. So I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this.
I have this exact same issue except at times I have no data whatsoever where I did before installing CM 12. Came from Alliance rom on my Note 2. Any help would be appreciated. It's very frustrating.

At the very moment I have most functionality back short of having to reselect my APN at each restart. I don't know specifically what got Mme to this point. Although I used a combination of NV Reader/Writer, Samsung Phone Info+, reinstalling a EFS directory using ODIN, IMEI changer, and a new sim. I also forced the cellular band to auto and set the PNT to LTE/CDMA. Although as I said Im not sure what helped most and even so its not all fixed 100%. Let me know if you want more details how I got to this point.

Really messed up before and ended up with almost(if not the) the same problem.
I contacted http://www.mobiletechvideos.com/samsung-galaxy-note-2/
And they got me back up and running within minutes.
Just something to check out if you still find youre having issues after you finish trying more.
Take care
I hope you don't mind. I read all your other posting to make sure you were not an advertiser. Awsome feedback BTW. I'm surely going to look into what they have to offer. Sense I have only managed to get so far on my own. I would like to find out they are a company who has the ability to bring it back to out of the box condition. Then I will take the proper steps to ensure I don't make this mistake twice.
To be clear, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, and no experience whatsoever with any of this.
Over 12 hours of research I managed to unlock the bootloader, root, and flash my TextNow Moto E with a stock US Cellular ROM. Everything worked fine.
What are the next steps to take, if any? Is it possible to even use a GSM network on this phone? I have an active T-Mobile sim card that the phone simply will not accept. I get a "no sim found" notification.
I attempted this with no success.
To start, su command would not work.
This worked for me on the XT1529, but it might work on the XT1526 as well since they're both LTE/CDMA devices:
root, open /system/build.prop, add the following line to the end: ro.telephony.default_network=10
save, make sure the permissions are still 0644, reboot.
When you check *#*#4636#*#* it should be in LTE/GSM/CDMA mode, and in Settings > Mobile Network it should say "Global".

This didn't work. I ended up experimenting more and softbricked my phone, got stuck in a boot loop. Through curiosity I ended up flashing the phone with a stock xt1527 rom. SIM now recognized as a non supported sim, so that's nice. Still doesn't work.
I cannot post links to screens as a new user, but if you happen to want to see them, message me and I'll link them from my dropbox.
I ended up ordering an unlocked xt1527 last night. However, I would still like to figure this out. Would I perhaps have to flash the modem?

Just tested this - not working. This is a really maddening scenario
I contacted sprint and gave them the IMEI - they tell me that this phone can indeed be unlocked (xt1526), but I would have to do it through TextNow. I've searched for ways to bring up the SIM unlock prompt, but it simply doesn't show up with any of the methods found. :s

I still have my sprint model as well, and have the MSL code. But I have also never found a way to enter it for unlock. I've tried using active ATT and VZW SIMs, and also tried flashing the USC modem on it - still works on sprint / ringplus, but also still won't acknowledge ATT or VZW SIMs.

I don't know for sure, but i did read in another place on here somewhere about an "embedded card" that sprint put in another phone. I wonder if that is the case with this one? If not, all i can really think of is that there is something in place that motorola made specifically for the sprint model. We know its not modem related, so it must be somewhere else, in the NAM, or something like that. One thing i did accomplish was to get another bar, (it had no signal and looked like an outline, but it was there), show up by editing the build prop with a specific line and then rebooting. Odd thing is, its the same thing that showed up when i attemped to flash another stock firmware. The firmware i flashed was for the xt1526, retail us. Which leads me to think it might be a band issue, as someone else mentioned in another thread on here somewhere. I mean, it would make sense with the no signal and everything. Sorry for the long post, just thinking out loud i guess.

Yes, I'm hoping there is a fix somehow. I'm ok to use the phone on WiFi, but it is otherwise useless to me. I'd like to have a backup phone in case my first Moto E dies, they are really rugged. I have experimented all day without success. Experimenting with build.prop does nothing. I export the build.prop text and post it just for reference, if anyone cares to play with it.

I talked to Sprint - they told me TextNow has to SIM unlock the device. I talked to TextNow - They told me the device IS SIM unlocked. So, there's that if anybody is wondering. I've almost abandoned this experiment, but it's still in the back of my mind. In other news - the new Moto E 2015 I received has a yellowed display. 2/3 brand new Motorola devices I received had display issues. Excellent phones, poor quality control it seems.

i got my E2015 from textnow for $10 as a refurb and its solid as a rock so far. I stumbled upon this thread and it looks promising, but im at work and we use citrix clients and not actual computers so i cant run it here, but ill give it a whirl when i get home. I do also believe that its GSM unlocked
Trying to make my XT1526 (Boost stock ROM) work with GSM, and got stuck on something weird. Inserted a SIM card from China Mobile, changed the network mode to "Global" and turned on roaming, after a while it got successfully registered on T-Mobile network, both voice and data. Yet, when I inserted a T-Mobile SIM card, the phone gave an "Invalid SIM card" error, and simply refused to connect. Thought it might be an issue with APN setting, but I couldn't manually add the T-Mo APN to the phone (in fact it wouldn't take any APN).
I think the phone's hardware is capable of LTE/CDMA/GSM. It's a just matter of figuring out the right configuration.

Why so tricky? Why? I am truly of no help, I just started the thread. Learning as I go...funny thing. Upon flashing again with the xt1527, and flashing the modem with a different modem software, the phone still shows to be a sprint modem software.
I wonder if the "fastboot oem config carrier" option would do any good?
DSU is tricky because it involved modifying the NV values thats buried in the radio software and it has a similar access issue to SU. I have (among many others) a Sprint S5 (G900P) and achieving DSU on it was the work of some SERIOUS developers. The config carrier might be of some help, but i havent delved into it yet, and im not sure if id fully understand what it means anyways. Additionally, Moto devices are tricky period. I had 2 Razrs (one xt 912 and one xt910), one of them was GSM unlockable and the other wasnt. Motorola mobile phone division has also changed hands recently, so its direction has also changed. Basically, whats needed here is either a ton of forum scouring or a developer to actually pay attention to this device, or a bit of both
