I have recently returned to my apartment with my brand new archos 70. I use WPA2-PSK encryption for my wifi network. at first everything was golden, I could browse the web and whatnot just fine. as of a few days ago, wifi has not been working correctly. my device connects to the network (pulls an ip address from the router) but when I try to browse web pages or open web based apps they hang up and act as if I have no connection. it works fine on other networks (to limit the problem to my network) I have tried doing a factory reset of the device, tried power cycling my router and modem with no luck. I have also changed encryption types to no avail. i have the latest firmware for the gen 8 series. also from time to time during this session of events, sometimes it will connect to the router, then disconnect and reconnect. I have no clue whats going on because I havent changed any router settings since I got back. the only other devices on my wifi network are two laptops. any help would be appreciated.
you mean you restored to the factory settings ran through the start up all over again and it still won't connect to your router? have you tried any other types of connections or routers?
I had this problem just the other night was this close to reformatting the whole thing. but I solve the problem by turning the device off, then holding the reset button while it rebooted to turn it off again, an reinitializing the drivers.
how do you reinitialize the drivers? I did a factory wipe. and it connects, it shows as having network connectivity (even my router lists it as a dhcp client and currently making use of the access point) but no internet functions work. ive connected to other networks fine.
This happened to me when I first got my A70. What I had to do to fix it (after getting incredibly pissed, reformatting twice, and almost returning the thing) was to set it up to use a static IP address on my home wifi network. Don't know if it'll solve your problem, but it works beautifully for me and I'm able to enjoy the device now.
Just remember to uncheck "use static IP address" when you get on other wifi networks.
well, I set up static addressing, gave it a private ip, set up the gateway and dns, and it still wont connect to anything.
If set as wireless N, set as N+G or G only, latest firmware may have trouble connecting to wireless N networks.
na, I dont have it set to n, I have it set to auto which I believe puts it to g with my archos. thing is, it used to work. now it suddenly has problems.
Im beginning to wonder if the archos tablets are just picky about wireless routers. I wouldnt think so...
Upgrade the firmware
Archos published a firmware upgrade to solve this problem (December 2010). The related bug in the release notes is...
Wi-Fi: fix Wi-Fi stuck after a while when using WPA2/AES encryption mode
The new firmware download link is in the Archos website.
you can download the firmware to your computer, copy it to the root directory of the tablet using the USB cable, and run the upgrade process in the tablet.
... or you can use another WiFi network (without WPA2/AES) and download the update in the same tablet
Note: I cannot send the links, however you can use the information to search the links in the internet.
Hi, is anyone has the same problem? When I'm connected at home to my Tenda router (WIFI b/g/n) after cca 30 min. my phone WIFI stops sending and recieving data, Skype is offline, etc... but WIFI in phone is stil switched on. After I switch WIFI off and back on (on my Samsung, not on my router), everything works good for a while and after cca 30 min. is situation the same. Is there in Samsung any WIFI sleep mode or something like that? Or some settings, which is not visible? Any other suggestions? Sorry for my poor English. Thanx in advance.
I'm having the same problem. But I did a factory reset and it works fine afterward.
And just few hours ago, I encountered this problem again. What did to get this error was, I pressed "on samsungapps" and it failed to update and thus results wifi connection stopping. What about you? Also my Kies air is not working.
are you guys sure you have wifi sleep policy set correctly? just to be sure, settings, wireless, wifi, menu button, advanced, wifi sleep policy to NEVER.
Yes. And also even if i manually disconnect and reconnect the wifi back. The data still doesn't come in. It is stated there as connected but no data at all.
Somehow Wifi keeps searching every few seconds, even thought it's connected.
This is bound to cost in battery life too.
I have reseted router to default settings, disabled n mode, disabled security (only mac filtering is on), disabled all unnecessary features and PROBLEM IS SOLVED !!! Thanx God Tomorrow I will experiment with router settings to know, what was causing this error ;-)
Well at least u're connected, I'm facing the same problem as the thread starter. No data flow at all. Browser showing me offline msg. I had the same problem on the 1st day with the phone after I woke up. previously playing with most of the default aps. So i'm not sure what went wrong, did a factory reset and it works fine.
Until, few hours ago, I tried my kies air which didn't work. Browser couldnt load the address given. And I thought i had an outdated kies air, so i went to click on samsungapps, which failed to update me. At that point the wifi is still working, i leave my phone for about 30 mins, and when i came back. The same problem which happened on the 1st day came back. I was hoping to find an answer here so I didnt do the factory reset it. On another note, the phone wifi works after restart, but wouldn't last.
Edit: The wifi works after i resetted my modem to default. oh well. at least that solved it.

Hi,
Did you find out what setting was causing the connection issue? I also have this problem with my Tenda router. I thought it might be the wireless N, but disabling that doesn't fix it. I have a wireless distribution system set up with other tenda routers so didn't want to disable all the settings to troubleshoot if i can help it!
Thanks

I have the same problem, my router is N and the conection between SGS2 and my router is bad. Any idea?
Same problem here, I'm running WZR-AGL300NH in access point connected to my Ubuntu Server. Everything else works in the house just fine but SG2 stops transmitting data after a while.
I recently upgraded to KF1 firmware (and unknowingly wiped out whole phone, being on the bleeding edge and that didn't seem to help.
I would very much appreciate all tips because this problem is very annoying!
Additional Info:
- Buffalo is running latest firmware
- Authentication WPA2-PSK
- Encryption AES

Same symptoms here. Cisco DDR2200. WPA2 PSK. Haven't tried fiddling with the router yet.
This seems to be a common problem. Anyone knows of a definitive fix?
Bump...I have the same problem and the issue persists even after i reset the phone
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Glad I found this, thought it was the ROM I had flashed to the phone (which is VillainROM)
I keep losing connection from my phone via wifi like everyone else in this thread
edit: I've just assigned my phone an IP address via my routers settings and I can connect to the net again
Also when it wasn't working, I couldn't ping the phone. When I assigned the IP just now I still couldn't ping it.
When I did a tracert to it, I could get to it when the IP was assigned and when it wasn't.
I have no removed the assigned IP for the phone from the router. Wifi connection is still working after disconnecting/reconnecting wifi on the phone.
I can also now ping the phone, where as before it was getting timeouts.
Also when it wasn't working the first time when I did a tracert it was showing up as HPsomething (didn't make note of the numbers)
this time when it is working it's just showing up as the IP address when doing a tracert.
Another update:
Just checked my printer, it has an IP address manually set on it, which at one stage when the phone wasn't working for internet it had the same IP as the printer, hence when tracert'ing it I was going to the printer instead of the phone and getting the HP etc back.
When it wasn't working at that time and looking at my routers DHCP list, it had the MAC Address of the phone against the IP that the printer has....
So I've got some issues with how my own network is setup ^_^ which looks like is causing me grief.
So the issue is with DHCP? Setting a static IP fixes it? I'll have to try, but I doubt this is a problem with the network, as all my other devices use DHCP without this problem.
I have the exact same problem!!
It's really annoying.
i was having problems with wifi too.. it keeps scanning and checking, etc, signal dropping for no reason..
fixed mine..well for me it worked
backup ur phone ( i dont take responsibility if ur phone catches fire or dies or chases u around )
u need to be rooted
download FXR WiFi fix and rescue from market
and just run the app.
now my wifi signal stays constant speed and i get good speeds
alternatively try
WiFi Fixer
both of them will cause high battery usage..i think since it keeps the signal at maximum.. so only enable wireless when i need it or use juice defender or green power.
greenpower seems great. using this at the moment
Hey all,
I've had my Galaxy S II GT-i9100M for a bit more than two months now. It's been on ICS 4.0.3 since the first day I got it, and is unrooted.
Wifi was working fine the first month or so that I've had it. However, in the last month, while trying to connect to my university's networks from the wifi settings screen, it will display "connecting" for a long time, then change to "saved", without successfully connecting to the network. Odd thing is, if I turn the wifi on and off repeatedly, it may connect eventually, with around a 5-15% success rate each try. However, there's also a relatively high chance it will automatically disconnect itself within a few minutes.
The school has three main wifi networks: one is unsecured, while two are secured with exactly the same authentication methods (PEAP + MSCHAPv2) and takes the same login credentials. All three have the same problem when I try connecting. It's not a problem with signal strength, either, since my friends nearby can connect using their phone or laptop without any problems.
Here's what I've already tried to do to fix this:
Asked the school's IT helpdesk
Forget both secured networks so the phone can autoconnect to the unsecured one
Tried wifi diagnostic tools, such as Wifi Analyzer and Wifi Fixer, and tried changing to a better channel
Deselected "back up my data" in the Back Up and Reset settings screen, deleting existing wifi settings from Google's servers
Connect using a static IP address rather than DHCP. Either it has the same Connecting->Saved issue, or says something about "avoided a poor connection"
Did a factory reset, including wiping all user data
The wifi has no problems connecting to my home wireless network, and to most, though not all, other public networks I've tried (same problem as above if it doesn't work).
On a somewhat different note: there are two networks (each of which I've only connected to once at most) that are permanently saved on the list of access points; there's actually no way to forget/delete the network. They even survived the hard resets, and are listed before I link the phone to my Google account. Could this be related to the main issue above?
Is there a fix for this issue? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Someone help me please, my wifi does not work at all on my phone. I tried different roms, clean installs, 2.4ghz mode only, uncheck dlna, reset the modem. I even took s-off and ended up updating my firmware to see if that worked but nothing. I let the mac address bypass my firewall in my modems settings. I had a similar issue with my toshiba thrive on cm 10.1 but it ended up getting resolved.
So the icon is greyed out, before it was like that too but it worked. I took off my password and had an open network and the phone could surf the web no problem then. So is there an error with the phone or the modem and how can I resolve this?
Hello,
So recently I have tried to install several Nougat ROMs (CM14 nightlies and AOSP Extended) on my Oneplus X and they seem to work fine except one issue that is keeping me from switching to those ROMs.
The issue is that I can't seem to be able to connect to my home Wi-Fi (haven't tried connecting to other Wi-Fi routers as I do my ROM installations at home, where only my Wi-Fi is available). Whenever I press the "connect" button, after inputting the password, the connection status under the SSID goes from "connecting" to "authenticating" to "saved" then back to "authenticating" and the "authentication problem". Basically, the authentication fails and I am not able to connect to my Wi-Fi. I have never encountered this kind of problem on CM13 based roms before.
This is the only big issue that keeps me from switching to Nougat ROMs (besides the Wi-Fi authentication problem they seem to be stable enough for daily use) as I constantly use my home wifi.
Has anyone had this kind of issue and solved it?
Any kind of help/input would be very appreciated!
Thanks.
Authentication error is you inputing the wrong password. Sometimes I noticed the keyboard tries to enter a capital for the first letter of your password thinking it's first word of a sentence.
I thought so too, but I made sure to enter the password absolutely correctly (I have probably entered the password over and over again over 20 times...).
Still, no luck...
Found the issue. And now I feel quite retarded...
It seems that my father has changed the Wi-Fi password just a few days ago (right before I came back home for Christmas break) and so I was entering the old password and getting that error.
Basically, the issue is not ROM/Android version related.
