Hi
I am new to ANdroid devcies as i only have Apple devices up till now, please bear with me. I just bough a Noza Tec Android table VII on kitkat 4.4.4 quadcore with 1GB RAM, this tablet was cheap and does not behave anything like a quadcore or 1GB RAM, it is very slow when using web browser and zooming in on anything is not smooth and does it in sections. I would like to try installing a custom ROM that would speed things up dramatically, as currently it is really poor.
Can anyone give advise on the best ROM for htis device and also if there is an installation guide as this is the first time i will be trying it and i dont want ot brick the tablet.
Any help appriciated. Thanks in advance

Dear Viewpad 7 users,
Everybody says our beloved Viewpad 7 is too old for Ice Cream Sandwich but thats not true. I own a Galaxy Ace which has the same CPU only the turbo version which runs @ 800Mhz. And it runs ICS like a dream.
The Viewpad 7 is overclockable to 864Mhz and maybe with a better kernel it can go even higher. So it has enough preformance for ICS. I can even run ICS on my Phone @ 600Mhz.
So whatever they say ICS on our Viewpad 7 is possible..
Even the Legendary HTC G1 gets Ice Cream Sandwich.
You can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ym4A82ft5pw
Please Developers help us port ICS to our Viewpad!
Good news for my viewpad7. Thank you for new information.
it would be great but we still not even got gingerbread so dont wanne get mij hopes up
+1, I use my Commtiva N700 daily and would love to have ICS running on it. Bought ~3yrs ago and still beats most tablets for features!

Excuse me, not to rain on the parade or something, but what's the status on those ITE driver things ? Were the sources for them ever released ?
Those seem kinda important for the whole "port ICS" project, as far as I can tell...

No problem it isnt raining yet
The driver will not be a problem, but apparently a overclocked kernel might break the ITE driver.
However ICS can run on our device without overclocking
And there probably is a way around this issue anyway
Happy to help if I can
If I can get some support getting drivers, etc. I would be more than happy to generate an ICS ROM. I am very experienced in modifying stock roms (and specifically with the ViewPad 7), and have AOSP ready for mods. I need some assistance in knowing exactly what to extract from the stock rom in order to make sure wifi, etc work... So if someone more experienced in that wants to help out as an advisor we can make this happen pretty quickly.
I need to help, but I'm noob for linux's os. Now I try to collect the infomation with my bad english and google translate. If someone have a time please post link step-by-step howto port and that will very helpful for starter and noober. Thank you.

Please help this good man in finding what he needs. For i dont know where to find it myself.
But i know its there
That is awesome they released something for ICS for VPAD7 but it doesn't solve the problem of ARM6 not being supported by flash. They have the architecture but they just stopped working on it. So basically we get the look of ICS but still on 2.2.2 level of performance? Is it an improvement or just cosmetic?

Yes ICS brings alot of improvements with it. Indeed sadly the flash support is indees limited.
PS: What do you mean ICS is released for Viewpad 7 ?
No 2.3 still
Good news but the problem that i can see developers stopped creating ROMs for VP7 - they stopped working on 2.3 and i can't find anything re that to update my VP7 so hope they will look back to create more ROMs for ICS and GB as well as i am afraid of the speed with ICS
Any news on JB for Viewpad 7
Hi Friends,
I'm a noob on Android. I was looking for someone to advise what we would need to create the JB ROM for Viewpad 7. I know we will need drivers for the chipsets on the VP7. But there must be so many other things needed as well. Is there any developer who can help or even guide. I'm willing to do what is needed. I really want to get JB on this.
What I do know is we have:
CPU: Qualcomm MSM7227
WiFi: AR6000 Chipset
GPU: ARDENO 200
I also know that the above chipsets are used on the Xperia X10 and as such the Xperia X10 has a working (if not stable) JB ROM.
SO any one out there, please help.
Thanks
Gaurav
Doesn't it help that adobe has discontinued support for flash on Android?

Hello everybody
I'm not new to Android I bought a Galaxy S II last summer and I discovered root and all the other funny things ;-)
And today I get an Archos 101 gen8 for free ! ^^
I immediatly went on my favourite site : XDA
And I'm a bit lost...
What is the best rom you can recommend me ?
I read that ubuntu is avaible but I don't know if it's fully working...
Should I use Urukdroid or BullAOS (CM7, I'm right?) because my tablet is pretty slow with stock android ... ?
The best would be a dual boot and I think it's quite possible no ?
Thanks a lot
And I apologize for my bad english it's not my mother language...
I believe that it is up to you to see what ROM works best for you. I prefer UrukDroid, some like Ubuntu, others still just use chrulri's ROOTED stock ROM. Advantages/Disadvantages are mostly seen in personal use.
One way to go about it would be trying them all out and see which one best suit your needs. If you like speed and optimization, go for Uruk. If you feel that stock ROM is good enough and you just need root, try above mentioned chrulri's ROM. If you don't like android and for some reason want Linux, go for Ubuntu/Debian.
Hope this helps.
Peace.
Ok thanks I'll give a try to ubuntu and Urukdroid ;-)
Suggest you Urukdroid. You can use it as your daily OS with many other benefits.
Hello everyone.
It has been a long time since I was here looking at things.
I'd like to say that there is great progress and Kutos to those who are doing the work.

Anyone have any good/bad experiences using the kernel I listed below?
And, I do not really want to overclock at the moment, Is there a way to edit the kernel to remove the changed CPU and battery management?
I tried to find a custom kernel that, without all these extra changes, allows a custom ROM, but I have had no luck yet...
(I do not want to shorten the life of my device in any way); unless it is safe?
------------------------------------------
I was thinking of using this kernel (which I want to put the unnecessary changes back to stock):
[KERNEL][CWM][Player 5.0][USA]Entropy's Daily Driver, 3/5/2012 (1.2 GHz OC)
-------------------------------------------
And I'm still deciding between these two roms:
1) [ROM] Eryigit-GB-2.3.6 G70ZCKPA Galaxy Player 5.0 For USA and INT (Rls:3.5) {UPDATED}
2) [ROM] Eryigit-GB-2.3.6 G70XXKPH Galaxy Player 5.0 For USA and INTERNATIONAL (Rls:1.5)
My problem is I do not really understand the differences between these rom versions other than the display.
Is that all that is different? the themes?
And I'm having trouble finding if this ROM can actually work the cameras, flash, Bluetooth, etc. or are things not working?
I tried looking for a "bugs" category, but I haven't seen one.
----------------------------------------------
Thank you for posting your experiences and such.
I'd jump right in and try the kernel and roms, but I really do not want to risk breaking anything, I kinda just want to do it right the first time and leave it.
--------------------------------------------
I mainly been looking because I read that Samsung is not planning any updates for my device and I figure I'd modify it now since I wont get the latest android for it.
My device:
Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 Wifi USA version, WITHOUT mechanical home button...
You cant edit the kernel and off course its safe, everybodu is using them..but if you want you can down clock with some app but don't see why..on roms you mentioned everything works...difference is first has more futures like 14 button power menu etc..and second is basicy stock rom.
Alright bro. Entropy Kernel: You wont notice anything different in your Player if you flash it. It will only make it faster, but no UI changes. And the ROM you listed, use 3.5, Everything works. Again, more tweaks will make it faster. The ROM probably has some things changed in the UI but thats for the better. No bugs in that ROM. If you need help don't hesitate to PM me

Sorry I have been away for a while. College takes up all my time...lol
Thank you both for posting that. It verified everything I needed to know about the ROM and Kernel.
(I just want this to last if I overclock it with with the custom things, I do not feel like replacing a battery within the next couple years...lol).
Later on I will go find an odin or something along those lines and backup what I can from my device so I can hopefully go back to stock later if I ever needed to...
Hopefully I will be able to do it before the world ends in about 3 months. I will post here when I get to it.
I just recently bought a 32 GB MicroSD card for it. Its really nice as I can store everything in my phone now and its essentially my slate PC but its a phone, so I will need a time when I wont need to use it for school/work/navigation things for a while so I know its stable.
Hi guys, I'm new in this forum.
I would ask some question... I have buy a few days ago a clone of SGS3, maybe the better clone ever made. Equal cover(i use an original cover on the clone), equal battery, microsim, brand (front, back, battery, battery compartment, start and off), equal theme etc... Have a good hardware, I play on this phone with many game like subway surfer or gta vice city without problem... Now I would make a custom rom for this device, for me is a good phone and deserves a good custom rom to fix small problem and improve the performance (on the antutu 2.9 the score are about 11 thousad, antutu 3, about 5 thousand). For start, which are the things to make/modify a rom? Is possible to backup the original rom to modify that without problem? Now I don't remember other question XD
Thank you all and thank you for the answers...
yes, you need the phone rooted
Yes, you need the phone rooted, have a copy of your rom via CWM recovery and check if your device is AOSP based (no idea what that means) there are many threads about how to port your rom into a custom rom (CNM9 and Paranoid Android)
