Problems with the compilation 26.1.A.3.120 - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

Approximately 3 weeks ago I installed the compilation 26.1.A.3.120 my Sony Xperia M4 Aqua E2306, at first everything was fine, in fact it was slightly more fluid than the 2.167 and 3.111, but since a few days is bringing me pain head.
The problem started with the activation of GPS, once a activava application positioning system NEVERMORE quenched, and linked to this, the battery performance fell considerablemene, reaching only 1 hour and 10 minutes of screen, and maximum 12 hours standby.
Obviously that's not normal, I hope Sony will deign to repair all these errors.

Try to reflash the system with sony companion... it's not normal to have these problems, the rom is very stable...

Should not be this bad.
I get maybe 12 hours of standy time and maybe 2-3 hours screen on but that because I use lifelog and the smartband.
Like someone said, you should reflash or check if any background apps are killing your battery life.

I haven't noticed anything any impact on the battery so far, coming from 3.111

Xperia Mini battery issue

Hi, I have received a new Xperia Mini, since my old one was giving me some troubles.
I got it about 3 days ago and its working pretty well, but the battery its going very very fast, I have to recharge twice in the same day in a normal/medium use. And the battery temperature, in stand-by keeps around 35~36°C on 23°C ambient. Using it, the temp reaches easily 40~42°C.
Oh....I forgot to mention that I have updated it to Android 2.1 as soon as I got home after getting it on the repair center.
Is that normal?
Cause I have 7 days to exchange it for another one.
Thanks!
EDIT: Oh...My Data Traffic is off, GPS off, Wifi off, Bluetooth and Background Data off too. And its lasting only 5~6 hours. After pull the charger off, with 2 hours, I was with only 67%. Its normal?
I also have mini., Check these:
1- background Data off
2- 3g/wifi/bluetooth off when not in use
3- Brightness around 25%
4- Data Traffic off when not in use
5- Use helix launcher
6- Charge when around 25-20%
They will improve battery life
Its everything off. In the same conditions, my old one lasts 2 days with a single charge, and the operation temperature, when on stand-by, was about 25~27°. With the new, it don't get below 35°.
I have let it charging all the night, and pulled it off at 10:51 AM, at 13:00 I was with only 67%, and the phone was in stand-by, with absolutely NO USE.
Hmm
Newer phones tend to have low battery
Also if you have updated it recently to 2.1 thenlet it undergo a few charges and do one or 2 restarts
I did the same and get 2-2 and half days
Earlier with 1.6 1 day-1 and half day
I'm letting it shut down for itself then charge till 100%. How many this will I need to do that?
And I have updated to 2.1 since I got the phone. I got home after getting it with the dealer and updated, in the same day.
Please, help me people.
Never let the phone shut down on its own dude
Just charge it when it is around 205
And switch it off yourself one a week
that will improve battery life a lot
I was also on the same boat until i followed all this
Now my phone lasts 2 days or so
Problem solved!
Was the network mode, that was in WCDMA and the signal was very weak, so I think that the phone was constantly searching for it. I just changed to "GSM only" and at 2:40AM was with 26%, now, at 9:38AM its with 22%, but I have already use wifi, when I woke up it was with 24%.
Thanks for the help bro!

[Q] [HELP] Battery Drain, probably hardware issue

Hi guys, this is not an usual battery drain problem. I am more or less an advanced user of android but I´m writing here because I tried all my ideas and none of then worked.
I have 2 Neo V, stock. One day one of them started to have battery drain. Im talking about 6-7%/hour with no usage, the other one is around 1-2%. So with any use my phone don´t last more than 14h.
I started to check the usual(wifi policy, services running..), and don´t found anything, I switched the batteries between both to see if that was the problem but drain was still in the same phone.
I rooted the phone, tried BetterBatteryStats and CPUspy and all is OK, most of the time DeepSleeep etc.
After all I unlocked the bootloader with the S1tool testpoint etc and flashed some Cyanogen 9 rom + kernel, and the problem still persists.
I think there is nothing I can do and my phone is useless because I suppose I don't have warranty anymore.
Any ideas about what could be? Even if its hardware, what kind of hardware problem can make this high battery drain if the CPU is not working ?
Thx in advance
edit: In HTC we can also flash different RIL´s (radio interface layer) to improve signal db, avoid high battery consumes etc. There is something similar in NEO V? Because I didn´t find anything.
There are a couple things you can do:
1) Did you check that you had mobile signal all the time??, because losing mobile signal is THE biggest battery drain possible
2) Post some BetterBatteryStats screenshots so we can see what's happening under the hood
3) Try a different ROM/Kernel combination, that sometimes helps
And no, there's no RIL flashing here, just different ROMs/Kernel/Baseband combinations
I HAD the same problem
Even I faced a similar problem on my Neo V after getting FXP CM9. FXP 122 was fine. But FXP 123 and 124 drained the battery very badly(No considerable Deep Sleep in CM 9). So I switched to AOSP Polish blood. Battery life was excellent but it lacked customization, so I switched to AOKP v38+ AOSP kernel. Superb ROM but again not so good on battery (but better than CM 9). Yesterday I flashed the FXP 125 kernel. More than 5-6 hrs of WiFi, 15-20 calls and texting and some instagram and I still have 20%. I'm charging my phone now!!
I´ve uploaded some screens of bbs, cpuspy and batterydrain with wifi on and after switching it off.
Hope it reveals something, what really annoy me is the deep sleep activated most of the time, so I don´t really know what to search.
Just as I thought, what's happening to you is what happened to me a year ago and I thought changing phones would help.
Your problem is basically, bad signal, as you can see in screens 4,5 and 7,8 "No Data Connection" and "No or Unknown Signal" are preventing your phone from going into Deep Sleep, the problem comes from bad 3G signal (or just bad network signal if you don't have 3G) and that is known to basically eat up all your battery.
How is the network signal where you are???, because it looks like it's realllllyyyyy bad.

Are you sure? Take a better look.
Or at least deep sleep graph. And those graphs "No Data Connection" and "No or Unknown Signal", are also ok(ven though the name is confusing a bit), I have the same.
I'm not COMPLETELY sure but this is exactly what happened to me a year ago with a Samsung Galaxy Mini, also if you look at graphs 4 and 7 Deep Sleep doesn't have as much time as the data and signal bars, to me that seems like those two are keeping the phone in wakelock state more than it is spending on Deep Sleep.
I´ve been experiencing this problem for weeks. About signal I tried everything because:
- Phone worked perfect with SIM and all bars (I live in the downtown of a big city)
- When the problem started to happen I switched to another phone and this one was working without SIMcard so there was no signal at all.
- Some days ago I used another SIM which also have all bars.
I Don´t think there is a problem of the signal . Also in my other phone, and as you can see, Deep sleep is working fine.
I reread your first post and the only hardware problem that I could think of is a faulty battery, did you use to leave it charging all night??, because that tends to burn the battery and it does hold a lot less charge.
According to what I've read, everything seems to be fine software side, my only idea would be that you reflashed stock ROM and check if the problem persists, reflash but don't restore any data, the problem could be a misbehaving app.
I have 2 Neo V (my father´s and mine) I switched batteries, and the problem persist in the same telephone. Also both of them have less than 2 months, so batteries are new.
Also revised the voltage in the CPU and it is alright.
Well, the only thing left to check (IMHO) is a misbehaving app or service, maybe check for task killers or battery savers in the "broken" phone, those are known to eat up the battery like it's ice cream!!
I believe I have the same problem. I can't remeber when it started since I tried lots of roms,
but I flashed latest ICS from pccompanion with no other tweaks for some days and it
continued the same.
I also thought about bad signal, but at night in flight mode it also spent 40% of the battery.
With a good kernel, undervolting, 2G... I can get to 15% 20% at night.
I've also switched batteries with other neo's and no difference.
Phone is 5 months old.
Not sure if it might come from the rooting process. If I understand right, the 0% issue
that some were having was more of hardware issue (or I'm completely wrong?) Then maybe
there is also something related?

0% was a software related error (flashing GB 2.3.3 after having 2.3.4 broke the battery gauge firmware), however that problem doesn't exist on ICS, I find it reallt strange that both your phones have that problem, I've had my Neo for 8 months and the most battery I've lost overnight has been 10% (with CM9 and really bad signal).
Maybe the best thing you guys can do is send your phone to service.
I have a similar problem with my mt15:
when I buy my phone battery was ok. about two days with intensive social use, no gaming.
5 months later, battery drain begins: deep sleep and 8% per hour , airplane mode 8% per hour
tried almost every popular rom in development forum ICS stock, codename, tweaked, cm7.2, cm9, jjhybrid, KA, ...
tried every popular kernel: stock gb, stock ics, alliance, suave, super, nightelf, cm kernels...
battery drain happens while phone ON, happens with airplane mode, AND happens with PHONE TURNED OFF.
I thinked about battery fault. replaced my battery with a new genuine one. Same results.
If I remove the battery from phone, IT does not drain. 24h later battery is still 100%
So my neo has a hardware problem I think. And there are many people with same problem. look for "neo battery drain while off"
Neo is a buggy phone. you can be lucky, or not. but many people has these issues or 0%batt.
I give up!
After sony abandoned x10 mini pro (random reboots, eclair), I had given another chance to sony with neo. I like sony designs, but Im really tired.
sorry about my creepy english
Try freezing "Calendar" with Titanium Backup and see if battery lasts longer. It helped for me.

about battery drain when phone is off
its not consuming your battery while its off
when you are turning the phone on
cpu usage will be on 100% to run all necessary sevices and apps and most use goes to get signal
that's normal
i suppose its aroumd 3-5% of battery consume
im not gonna be at the same side with you
actually neo is a wonderful phone
i beated the score of sensation xe in antutu benchmark with it
just google it around the internet
there will be some fix mate..
Neo is not buggy at all maybe yours but not mine
this might work for you
i just found it
1-flash build 42 official rom on your device
2-root the rom (there are plenty of ways around internet)
3-flash this kernel via flashtool forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=780407&d=1321113977
4-now turn on the phone its gonna show 85% of battery
5-install this forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=897721&d=1329003275
6-plug the charger into your phone
7-from the menu of app select start full charge
its gonna take 3-3:30 to be full
may be you've seen it around web
i translated it from a persian forum
HIT THANKS IF I HELPED YOU
In my opinion, a phone broken by a software update/downgrade is buggy.
About battery draining while off, not all neo have this issue, but mine is not the only one.
On the other hand, about power consumption while booting, if i remove battery while off, wait some hours, and replace, after boot battery is 100%
Sent from my JJ's Hybrid MT15i
I had this problem too, even when the mobile was off, the battery was drained...
I sent my phone to after sales service and now it's normal drain 2 - 3% per hour when idle. (I was on stock rom and kernel, never changed).
There is maybe a bad hardware series

[Help] Battery drain even when phone is off

Hello everyone,
I' have an Xperia Neo V that has been working quite well for a year and a half. However, sometime after I rooted the battery started discharging faster, and doing so while the phone was off (no standby: power button and shutdown).
At first I suspected the root process did something wrong with the firmware, but after returning to stock using SEUS, the behavior remains.
Just for this thread I charged the phone to 98% and 7 hours later phone was at 74%. Again, phone is supposed to be off.
I'm going to check this weekend how long does the battery last with phone on using the stock firmware. I remembered that the phone with light use could last for two days (48 hours).
The only difference remaining between a standard phone and mine is the hacked unlocked bootloader (using the S1tool) to avoid using the official unlocker.
I can restore the bootloader, but I unlocked the bootloader AFTER the problem started (so I could try different kernels).
Any suggestions? Is the battery or its controller broken? I can try different kernels, but I doubt these make much of a difference when the phone is supposed to be off.
Thanks to everyone
somtimes init.d overscripts on start up...which can result in battery drain....phone off has nothing to do with battery loss...use stable kernel..or lock your bootloader and customize the stock....their are many ways to improve battery using different mods available...these days the customization on stock has been made easier...thanks to many developers here...check out themes and apps section

I find it brutal the loss of over 20% of battery in less than 2 minutes when turning on the phone, whereas other moments turning on the phone after an hour or two off only drained around 5%...
I am going to lock the bootloader as I suspect I'll have to send it for repairs, but I'd like to know if a software could cause this situation.

some of the common reasons for battery drain in these situations are
some kernels put zipalign script on every startup
many tweaks are initiated in start up
this may lead battery to heat up quickly....overclocking is another major factor for battery weakening....for me i know i won't get a new mobile till next year so ....i am preffering stock sony so that i must worry less about such issues....try your s1tool for locking...and de-bloat the rom....my stock rom provides me insane 3 days battery backup
I seriously doubt that is the issue, yesterday I left the phone with around 30% of charge, and upon turning it on today, it was completely dead.
The phone is now locked, running with the original firmware, and yet the issue persist. I could try a gingerbread build from Sony Ericsson, but the ICS build didn't used to do this.
Remember that it couldn't even turn on today, no Sony Ericsson logo, no vibration, no nothing. The phone lost 30% of charge overnight.
You may need to replace the battery after ~2 years.
I got my battery replaced and from less than a day battery life, I got full active 2 days now, or 6 days at low usage. My new one is a compatible battery, not original, and costs only ~9usd.

I have the same issue they said battery life has improved since Lollipop yet in the 36 hours I have had it I have had nothing but extra battery drain to the point I have just reinstalled Battery Doctor to kill unwanted apps running in the background and to examine what app will consume more power then it should

I am still trying to work this one out, removing Facebook app helped a little but not enough, Battery Doctor has also helped but only around 10-20% improvement from the sudden poor battery performance.
BTW I am currently running the Baltic generic version 23.1.A.0.690 of Lollipop 5.0.2.
So apart from the last resort of doing a factory reset it is a work in progress
my university
I think I may of sorted my battery issue but will know for sure in a few days.
I reflashed back to my providers Vodafone UK stock KitKat firmware and got the Flashtool to wipe the data at the same time I had to do this because for some reason I had lost gyroscope, accelerometer and compass. The I reflashed the Baltic Generic Lollipop firmware also wiping the data and in the last 24 hours since doing it the battery performance looks to be much better and after 5 hours from last charge I still have 1 day and 6 hours remaining
UPDATE:
Looks like I may of sorted my battery drain issue.
My phone had a full charge from 3am-1pm (don't ask why 3am when I wanted to go to bed earlier then that) after 3 and a half hours I had only dropped 4% and still had 4 days left and then had about half hour of game play using bluetooth to my PS4 controller and still have just over a day's charge left although with lower usage this evening will probably improve.
When I had first installed Lollipop beforehand I couldn't get more then 12-15 hours between charges.
I thing I have forgot to mention was a bug I noticed before wiping and reflashing with Lollipop.
The night I decided to wipe and reflash I had noticed 2 things, first was that the accelerometer, gyroscope and GPS stopped working and then the 2nd thing I noticed after deciding that I could wait until the next day to investigate the first issue was that even though the screen would turn off the backlight remained on which made me decide to do the flashing that night instead of waiting.
But I have been thinking that wiping down and reflashing back to KitKat might not of been needed and could of just wiped down and reflashed Lollipop which could of saved around 20 minutes but due to the first issue I thought it best to go back to a known good firmware first
15 and a half hours so far with 16 hours remaining,
So an estimated 31 hours since reflashing I think it is looking like this battery issue can be solved by doing a CLEAN FLASH of Lollipop

Extreme Battery Drain after OneUI 2.1 / September Security update

Hello all, it's been a while since I've posted but this is quite a serious issue and could some guidance. A few weeks ago, I finally updated my Galaxy S9+ to Android 10 after being on 8.0 for so long and it's been a decent update so far. I had gripes with SoT not being the greatest but it was tolerable. Last night, I received an update for my phone and I installed it. Didn't think too much of it and continued on. I charged from my phone to ~87% today, used it lightly while working. By the end of my shift, I had 50% left.
I left the house to go for a 81 minute walk with 47%. I usually don't worry about having enough juice to make it back home but I experienced the worst battery drain I've had with this device so far. During my 90 min walk I:
listened to Spotify using my Galaxy Buds (one ended up dying towards the end because I forgot to charge them)
Checked Instagram occasionally and responded to some texts
Took 2 pics in Snapchat
Had a short video call on Messenger
It was right after the video call I noticed my battery was at 17%, which I thought was very strange. I don't leave apps running in the background for long and I have a habit of closing them out when not actively using them and I noticed the battery kept on draining despite there being no apps open besides Spotify.
Turned on the medium power saving and within a few minutes, I was at 5%. Decided to kill everything and pit my device on max power saving mode for the first time since I've owned the device. By the time I was home, my phone was at 1%.
I'm really baffled at how the battery drained at an exponential rate. I'm a medium user and I've had this phone since late 2018. Never leave location services on, never used AOD, and used the FHD display instead of QHD along with dark mode.
I'm hoping today was just an outlier as I want to keep this phone for another 2 years, but if this happens on a consistent basis I'm gonna have to start searching for a new device.
In the meantime, I have charged my phone to a 100% and disconnected the phone and observed the following:
Within 2 minutes of disconnecting, battery went from 100 - 98%. Not a good sign considering it was just idling
The battery continue to drain every other minute and I could see the battery go down on each unlock
Wiped the cache partition and I went from 93 to 94% for a brief moment prior to the phone going back to the same pattern
This is very worrisome to me as I don't believe the phone will last until midnight, I'm wondering if it's possible to roll back to the previous update.
TL;DR - After the update yesterday, the battery drained at an exponential rate despite light to medium usage
Also, here's some screenshots of my battery usage
http://imgur.com/a/lx5xXSY
I know this isn't the answer you are looking for, but all I can do is suggest changing the battery and doing a full, stock firmware flash via Odin to completely wipe your phone.
I recently replaced my phone's battery and did flash the firmware and my battery is really hanging in there. My battery was also 2 years old and before, I would get about 3h SOT when I play a game (and I do a lot). Now, I'm getting 5h SOT no problem with about 2-3h gaming included, so I really do suggest a battery change. I'm thinking you could be able to squeeze another 1 or 2 years into this amazing phone.
