System ui tuner - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi has anyone managed to get system ui tuner working on stock moto E 4g all you have to do is long press the gear icon on notifacation bar and it should work but i have not managed to get it to work any help would be good

works fine on my phone with stock 6.0 eu, maybe hold it longer or don't move your finger

Ive held it for 3 minutes and still nothing,my phone is not rooted and running eu retail rom no carrier brand

Have you disabled any apps

I solved this setting 3 animations options to 1x in developer options (if disabled, they can prevent gear from spinning and activate UI Tuner)

Cheers that was the problem thanks

Collection of various tweaks for CyanogenMod/AOSP/TouchWiz and few apps (Firefox, Adobe Reader, MX Player). This module currently offers over 20 tweaks. Will the minimum brightness app have a min brightness setting? I have an IPS screen on my lg g4. Will this lower my actual brightness? I use my phone at night and the minimum brightness is too bright. I've tried screen filters but I would prefer an app that actually lowers the brightness past stock.

Since there's actual UI, I will probably eventually add such option... But please be aware that it's still the same feature that GravityBox already offers (so if GB doesn't break anything for you, you can use it already).
Minimum brightness is not working in my device. What system apps and/or framework files from my ROM would you need me to send to you to fix it? It's a stock ROM, Android 5.1.1, my phone is a BQ Aquaris M5.
Thanks!
thank you for this nice module (and your old ones it replaced for me)
would you please be so kind as to include changelogs in the play store? I kinda hate getting updates but having no idea what it changed until i dig in the app for something that looks new
Thanks for this great module I was using some seperate modules from you but one big module is always nice. I can confirm Always Software Menu works on my S5 running CM13. Battery history xxl was working on CM12.1 and I even think it worked on CM13 Unofficial alpha version but on newer CM13 versions it doesn't works anymore. Is it possible to port it over to CM13 one day? And in the past the separate module disable toast icons didn't do anything on my S5 running CM13 for example when I'm in Root Explorer and enable R/W the root message appeared with the SuperSu icon but since 2 days I use the separate module from you NoToastIcons.v0.1-disable-all and that works great no toast icons anymore. I didn't try No toast icons from the All my... module.
Thanks for your great works.

The "No Toast Icons" tweak in this module disables icons in all toasts so it should work for you as well.
Few trivial tweaks already work with CM13 but the rest requires me actually flashing CM13 ROM - which I will do in the upcoming days or weeks on my S5.

It may not work on all devices (because of differences in display drivers/settings etc) plus it probably doesn't lower the minimum brightness when adaptive (automatic) brightness is used (though i didn't investigate that much...).
Great job with the one hand firefox enabler. I can now finally stick exclusively to firefox. Thanks!

I keep adaptive brightness disabled most of the time. If there's anything I can do to help making it work in more devices, you tell me.
Latest version 0.1.3 adds "Chrome Tabs Toolbar On Phone". Normally you could lower your DPI (system wide or per app if that's an option) to get the tabs toolbar in Chrome (that could however make the UI too tiny). The better option is to use "Screen (dp)" option in App Settings which get's the job done just right. This tweak reuses the same hacks to get the tablet layout with tabs in Chrome while it adds one important change - it changes the User Agent back from "tablet" to "phone" so you still get the mobile/phone version of various sites instead of the full featured tablet/desktop ones.

Version 0.2 should make all the tweaks compatible with CM13/Android 6.0. If there's any issue, let me know (I didn't check against clean AOSP).
Native Freezer - because there's no longer dedicated disable button on MM, I use the Force Stop button.
Battery History XXL - it works and as usual it not only makes the list longer but also unhides some normally hidden records (when they do not pass some threshold).
I also added one more tweak for Adobe Reader - "Disable Horizontal Scroll". Adobe Reader doesn't provide any feature for cropping white space so this helps me tremendously (after I double tap to the main content). (I'm still sticking to Adobe cause it's still the fastest though I probably could use the cropping in Xodo.)
Hey. I sit on the CM 13. I want to ask you to do, led to work if the battery charge is low, but when connected to a power source - did not work (not displayed, it is charged or charge).
Here comes another tweak in version 0.2.1: "Remap PREV button to PLAY/PAUSE" (PREV = long volume down press) which allows to use volume keys to change volume, advance to next song and play/pause. The "Playback control" needs to be enabled in system Settings (CM).
I have few more volume buttons related hacks in mind... :fingers-crossed:

Well, the current tweak handles the LED based on priority so I'm not sure about your question (really it can't be set in settings?).
Hey there
Im running cm12 since 6 months and i really appreciate you work
Specially native freezer
Im wondering did you made or plan to make a mod to replace recent menu action in navigation bar ?

[GUIDE] How to Add Battery percentage in status bar and modify layout of status bar

Source: http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/android-marshmallow-tips-and-tricks/7/
1.) Tap and hold the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the Quick Settings menu. After a few seconds, lift your finger and you will see a popup at the bottom telling you that the System UI Tuner has been added to your Settings.
2.) Go to your settings and into system UI tuner. (it is at the bottom of settings.)
3.) Check the box to Show embedded battery percentage.
4.) Configure the way you want your tiles displayed and in what order under quick settings. Under status bar you can turn off features you don't use so they never show as an option in the status bar.
5.) Done!

I was using this a couple of Moto versions back and kept hoping they would eventually let you replace the battery bar with nothing but a percent, but it never happened. It's so small I find myself blinking to make out the numbers.
Yeah that why I used Gravitybox with circle battery and % but my old eyes have trouble no matter what..lol

Xposed is what I"m going to miss most by not being able to root. I used Gravitybox and Flat Style Status Bar to completely change the status bar around. I have always hated the default Android status bar. I like my clock in the center and nothing but a percent for the battery.
Does this work?
Does this actually work on the G4?
I have an unlocked UK retail G4 and the cog does not spin and the System UI tuner is not added to the menu.
Could someone with a UK model please confirm if this does or does not work for them.

Works on my US G4. Pull down notification, press and hold on the gear in the top-right for 5 seconds or so, let go, System UI Tuner gets added to Settings.

Yes, tap and hold the cog in the drop down notification menu for 20 seconds (edit XT1622, dual sim from Motorola direct)
After reading around on the internet I have managed to solve this. I had turned on the developer option and changed the animation speed to x0.5. This seemed to somehow break the spinning cog.
Having now turn that off again and rebooted the cog does now spin as it should! Thanks for the help.

I tried this on a 16gb G4(US variant non-amazon) and Nexus 5x, but no dice. How long are you suppose to hold it? I tired 5, 10, and 20 seconds, didn't work.

You didn't change the animation speed in Developer Options did you? You should see it start to spin almost immediately.

Note: Don't have Animations (in Developer Options) set to Off. And then turn Developer Options OFF. Until you do that you won't get the System UI Settings added. And then reboot.

Did you try turning off the Developer Options? That's what fixed it for me.
I did this on an amazon moto G4 with the stock OEM.img flashed in. The menu shows up, and I can make it show battery% and turn off status bar icons, but, none of the "Quick Settings" changes actually take effect, even after a reboot. Not a big deal, but good to be aware of.
If you would like to have a larger battery percentage than this gives, download Clean UI launcher. In the launcher settings go to components settings and you can select battery percentage. Make sure status bar clear is turned on. This will give you an IOS style status bar. If you do not want IOS styled notification screen, make sure notification clear is turned off. You do not have to use CleanUI as your launcher for this to work. I have tried this with Nova and Google Now launchers.

That's not common, because I have the same phone and looked at another and in both the quick settings take effect.
I also had to turn off battery saver first.
But I prefer it to show % beside the battery icon not inside battery icon, old eyes.

System UI Notifications Blocked - TouchWiz

I have a weird problem. I got the Note 8 a little while ago, and everything was fine for a while. However, I one day noticed that the phone didn't show a notification when DND was on, or charging information in the notification shade when plugged in. After lots of searching, I've found that the System UI app in Settings is set to not show notifications. When I try to press the notifications in the app details, it takes me to a panel that just says System UI, and when I press it, it goes straight back to the app details, but what looks like in a new page. It's pretty much a loop, and I cannot seem to turn the notifications back on. Does anyone know how to fix this without having to reset the device? Thanks!
Download and install SystemUI Tuner, grant the permissions over ADB, then in Miscellaneous enable Power Notification Controls and then you can re-enable them.
Here is how to grant permission

Good Luck
Terrific. Worked perfectly well on Note8. Thanks!!!!!!!!
ahhhhhhhhhhh i am looking so hard for a way to have what you have, i hate system notifications mostly because now with the oreo update it keeps bugging me to confirm that i want to disable the data when i use the quick toggle, it s an annoying popup, and i do not have that option avabile for oreo in the solution posted above

Always Expanded notifications on Samsung Galaxy S7 stock Touchwiz Android 8 Oreo

Please, anyone help.
Need always expanded notifications in Notification bar on stock Touchwiz Android 8 Samsung Galaxy S7 device.
For many years used Android 6.0.1 Touchwiz on it and Xposed module "All notifications expanded" works well for me.
But after upgrading to stock Samsung latest Android O firmware module ends up working. It installs and activated, but launcher interface goes into permanent reboot after 1-2 minute.
Trying GravityBox O at my own risk (Xposed, SupeSU), but when "Always expanded" enabled, I got the same - UI goes into reboots every 1 s (blinking) after 1-2 minute (but in this 2 minute notifications are expanded ).
Thanks for all help and suggestions.

Hide DND-Icon in status bar in Android Pie

Hello,
in Oreo I could just tap hold the text and disable the notification, iirc. In Pie I just get the info that notifications from this app can't be disabled (System UI). I tried System UI Tuner as well but it didn't work as well.
Did anybody achieve this already?
@ChazzMatt
Could you please drop some knowledge?
I have Do Not Disturb activated at all times so I don't need to be informed about it.
I stayed on stock rooted Oreo, so have no day to day knowledge of LG Pie quirks. Sorry.
However, on a similar note, I reverted back to older version of some apps (My Data Manager being one) -- where newer versions insisted upon putting an icon up in the notification bar area when they are running. That particular app runs all the time and I have a widget on my pull down bar which tells me my monthly data total at any moment. I know it's running in the background, but I don't want to see an icon all the time up in the area where NOTIFICATIONS go. Keeps making me think I have new mail, a new text, something....
Up until about the time Pie came out, I could manually disable the notification bar "badge". With updated versions of the app I could not. So, I reverted to older version from APK Mirror on mine, my wife's, my mother's phones and UNchecked auto update on Google Play for that app.
There's other apps where I stay on older versions for functionality reasons.
Thank you for your insights!
Seems like I should have stayed on Oreo.
On another note I fiddled around with Automagic and was able to hide notifications for the system app System-UI altogether, but that also hides some other notifications I'd like to keep. But it shows that it should be possible. In SystemUI Tuner you can add custom tweaks if you know the right variables and values. Maybe someone knows where one can find the right values.
The solution that I'm using now is setting a custom sleep duration via System UI Tuner to 9999 and only having to worry every few months about it.
Does anybody know what's the maximum duration?
