if not hold power and volume + until it vibrates 3 times

check if you installed the drivers correctly
you may install it from C:/ flashtool/drivers

open flashtool as administrator

if it still persists uninstall flashtool and reinstall it.

Use sony pc companion, not xperia companion. I had the same problem and i repaired it using pc companion. For me xperia companion did nt work.
Try an older version of Flashtool! I tried flashing an ftf using the latest version and encountered the same problem! But all was good when I installed version. 18

Maybe flashtool doesnt succeed cause if firmware has file fw.info
Try to unpack firmware and delete thaf fw.info file if exist and you wiill succed with flashing.
I had same problem with Z5 and I did like am wrote now.

In flashmode you can reflash the android system on your phone, either with SE's official tool (gives your the latest SE version), or with i.e. flashtool, withch allows you to choose what to flash your phone with.
Keep off your phone, connect with USB and press Back button. Stop press Back when green LED is here
Ok, i had to do this twice now, as i bricked it a couple of weeks ago
you'll have to reflash with sony ericsson update service here:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup.../detailed/updateservice/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en
Follow the instructions and press the back button before plugging in the cable.
Download the software and keep in mind that playing around with roms will result in these problems so don't go too far.
Hope this helps and good luck

Hello Experts,
This was the best phone I ever owned. It has best in class features (camera, touch, perf ..n ofcourse cost etc.). After the eight month of mighty use i got notification from "SUS" that ICS is now available on your device. Tried Upgrading but in next hour it was showing me touch/hang issues. So reverted back to 2.3* GB.
After a month someone said try manual upgrade of 4.0 using SE flashtool. Tried and result was almost same just that this time it was random.
Again thought of going back to GB. It worked. Used Device for another month without issues. And one night suddenly it went dead. Thought that could be the case of out charge. Did Charge using USB Cable/Power cord method but result was same. It never booted after that.
One day thought of connecting my car charger then it shown "RED" LED indicator. searched on google, someone said battery issue. Tried replacing battery with same model phone which my friend owns. But Result was same.
Finally went to Sony Service Center (Pune, India). They said phone cannot be recovered. I asked them to replace whatever it takes Upto.
Since phone was brought up from import method i couldnt claim warranty.
Sorry for the long email, now question to the experts here
1.) Can this phone recovered? I tried SUS/Flashtool my phone is not getting detected.
2.) Is there any possibility that Motherboard/chips can be replaced to get this phone into functional state.
3.) Anything else can be suggested. (Except buying new phone . i already own Spice CSLMI410)
Can u use ur device in flashmode or fastboot mode?

guess it was sorking anyway, it looks your kernel is fine, so check in flashtool if the device connects not in drivers list
if it doesnt connect, unpack ftf you can see some system, data and so on image files flash them via fastboot(unlock bootloader)
if when you press and hold the volume down button while pluging the usb cable in, green light just lights up, it means there is hope bro :good: I believe after that, you need to go to a folder named something like "x10_libraries" in the flashtool folder and need to find fastboot.exe. oh, at the same time, you should download a kernel suitable for you device which includes cwm recovery and copy that .img file to the same folder from the last sentence. then you should write(in cmd of course) "fastboot flash boot something.img". I believe it'll work, at least no harm to try and I guess this is the last possibility for your beloved xpeia...

Try SEUS
Try using Sony Ericsson Update Software for making restore of your operating system back .
i'm try but pc can't reconized phone when i'm connecting phone to pc
Hmmm...if there a green light when your press volume down and connect it to your pc then it show that your phone is on flashmode....
now the proper way to flash stock rom using flashtool is.....
1. disconnect your phone from pc and turn off your phone....'
2. open flashtool....
3. click on the flash button onfalshtool and select flashmode...
4. one popup will appear...select stock rom from there and remember to tick all box in wipe and untick "no final verification" box in misc...
5. after selecting all above, press ok....wait for flashtool to prepare all needed files fro flashing....
6. once the flies is prepare, another popup will appear asking to connect your phone in flashmode (that popup will ask you to connect and press back button) don't press the back button...just press volume down and connect your phone....
7. once connected just relax and let flashtool do its magic....
8. if you done correctly the log will confirm that you have successfully flash your phone....
9. disconnect your phone and reboot...
10.done.....
OP please keep to one thread....thanks

To go to flashmode on flashtool you need to put the firmware on the correct folder. Where have you placed the ftf file?
Do you have unlocked bootloader?
If not, then fastboot is not for you and have option to use Pc Companion to repair your software if the problem is in there.
Did you install flashmod drivers for your phone?
What happen if you connect your phone switched off with hold down the button volume - and connect in the same time usb cabel to the phone?
Did you see green light?

no bootloader is locked.
it had the original stock firmware without any modification(not even rooted) before it went dead.
the same thing happens with pc companion it doesnt detect the phn.
and yes the green light turns on.
Like i say before. Don't wait Pc companion to recognise your phone.
Just turn off the phone, charge it good, after that connect with Companion WITHOUT turn on the phone or what you want and continue with the steps.
Doesnt flash mode work even with a locked bootloader?
Maybe you haven't installed USB drivers. Go to local disk C then flash tool and then open drivers and install the drivers for your device.
And then check flash boot again.

Flashmod is for device with locked bootloader and flash on stock files.
Fastboot is for device with unlocked bootloader and for flash on custom / different from stock files.
Fastboot will not do the work after the author has locked buuloader.
Better use Flashtool with flashmode or Sony Pc Companion or Xperia Comapnion, again with flashmod / green light.

Try to flash your phone through Flashtool, see if that works. Uninstall Xperia Companion before doing anything. Download Flashtool, install it, and you will have there folder named Drivers, which is located in destination where you installed flashtool, usually C:/Flashtool . Run the Flashtool-drivers setup from drivers folder, and select flashmode drivers and fastboot drivers, when you finish that, restart the computer. After, while your phone is turned off, press and HOLD the VOLUME DOWN button, and while holding that connect the usb cable, keep holding, until the PC regonizes you phone, and installs the necessary drivers, and if he does, green notification light will turn on. If a green notification turns on, disconnect your phone, download the necessary firmware, and flash it through flashtool. If you dont know how to do that, just write me back, and i will explain you, detail by detail. Dont try anything with flashtool on your own, if you are not familiar what are you doing. Just ask for help. I'm will be here for a few hours.

Hmm, strange, even when you connect phone to usb while holding down the volume button, say it's unknown device? Which Windows do you use? It could be maybe something with the drivers...
Im using Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit,
Can i manually select my device via flashtool?
No, you can't. Flashtool should automatically recognize your phone, if you have the right drivers, and if your phone is "alive".
