Hey guys,
I'm on my second Cam Plus module, and I have no idea how to make it work, or what I should expect.
I've attached it to my phone, and charged it for 5+ hours. During the first two hours I didn't see any LEDs on the Cam Plus. After two hours it started flashing red to indicate charging (I think?).
I've never had it change from red flashing LED.
The Cam Plus firmware update just shows the same "Connect a Cam Plus to check for Updates" message with the module attached. The LG Friends app sees the device and lists it as connected. I've not been able to get the module to do anything, or have any buttons work in the LG Camera app. Moving the bottom switch seems to not do anything.
Am I crazy here, or is this second unit defective? Am I just doing it wrong?
Thanks guys, any help is appreciated.
I just picked up a brand new lg g5 with the cam plus and I'm having the same issue!
Just received mine yesterday. Make sure you have the correct model number for your lg g5. Mine is ATT and is only compatible with the cbg-720 model. The other model cbg-700 is for all over lg g5s.
Also the module does not work when USB is plugged in. Hope this helps.
I'm on my 3rd and second G5 phone. None have worked so far. I called lg and they told me theres no troubleshooting for the camplus. They are aware that there is a problem though.
I call them every week, this week will be the fifth time.

Yeah there's no specific trick to making it work. I just plugged it in and pressed the buttons and it worked.
Mine showed a red led once it has been used as it's then charging your battery but that's it.
I just bought a G5 and Cam Plus yesterday. I have the exact same problem as OP. Has charged it for 12Hr+ and the Cam Plus LED is still a flashing red.
Edit: As mentioned above, you probably need the CBG700 to work, since this one works with all carriers other than AT&T. I have the CBG720 and I am using Bell that is probably the problem. Will take it back to the store tomorrow and see if I can exchange for a 700 and see if it works.
The cam plus is a total flop to me... Only uses battery to charge phone when using camera, weird glitches where it never seems to fully charge and I've had 2 die when plugged in tonthe wrong charger...
If any of you paid for it, I'd return it ASAP.
H831 here running on Bell and having the same DOA with the cam plus. I went out and purchased 2 other CBG-720 cam units at different stores and no dice (returned them both right away). What a waste of time. Wondering if someone running H831's can confirm if the other cam plus model (CBG-700) works?
My CamPlus was bundled from Telus, it's the 720 model. Just got my third unit, it's flashing red while presumably charging right now, doesn't do anything else.
What SHOULD happen?
Hey everyone!
I just signed up to reply to this one.
Having the same issues as everyone else (can charge the phone, but only getting a blinking red light on the camplus. also where the lg friends app was not able to detect the camplus), but I've managed to make mine work.
Just make sure you got the latest firmware (they had a release this August, around 500mb in size)
For its first use, the camplus needs that version of the firmware to boot up to.
Kinda weird why lol
Btw, when you get a blinking red light during charging it means the camplus hasn't been booted up.
You should be expecting a mellow red/ sorta yellow, non-blinking light.
When I got my g5 from Telus they gave me the camplus and it never worked, returned it and tried 3 different units brand new from Telus And none worked, the LG rep was at the store that day and none worked for he either on her g5. I ended up getting credit back for that bonus item
even when you get it working it's rubbish mine is back in the box in a cupboard. But if it helps, after speaking to lg, you need friends manager and camplus manager from the app store, plug in the module, run both apps, restart the phone if it says connect the module it may find an update. after this it should work and even charge when not attached to the phone.
hope this helps

My Cam Module stopped working after a software update. I pressed the video record and sliding on/off switch for 3 seconds. The led start blinking green, amber and red. I rebooted the phone and launched the LG Friends app to re-pair the LG Cam Plus. It works again. This procedure must hard reset the module.
Cam Plus help
Hi,
After doing a dumb thing and purchasing the Cam Plus for my G5, I found that I purchased the wrong MPN. I have purchased the correct one now, but would like to know what country and carrier so I can sell the wrong one. Manufacturer's part # is TMON64673. LG has only told me to go to every countries LG site and check the model #. Off hand any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Hey. Just make sure you update the phone first to the latest version, then put in the CAM.
Afaik, the CAM won't be updating. It just needs an updated phone for it to work.
Hope this helps.
getting cam plus to work
I finally got my cam plus to charge. Apparently the battery locks when it is fully discharged, you have to attach it to the phone and charge for about 5 minutes, but apps have to be up to date for this to work, got no light or flashing red light at first. Flashing red light started once I installed lg friends manager app. The cam plus app will not see the module either. I think I did press the camera on button and the video button on the cam plus for 3 seconds before it started to flash on one of the phones, I had 2 that did not work.
If you get the flashing red light it is not charging, what you need to do is update your lg5 by going to settings>general>about phone>update centre>app updates then do the updates. Once I did this the module started to get a solid red light and started the charge. You can then remove from phone and charge cam plus on it's own then and you should get a solid green light when charged.
Hope this helps.
I had the same problem. Go to youtube and look for a video entitled 'LG G5 Cam Plus fix (how to overcome the flashing red LED of death problem )'. Follow this guys instructions and you should have a functioning Cam Plus that you don't want to punch anymore.
Kudos to the guy who posted the video for persevering and getting an answer from LG.
I hope this helps because I know how aggravated I was by the whole thing, especially after having to send back the G5 SE as it doesn't have RAW capability. It took ages to get the phone and set up I wanted. Anyway, it's all been worth it 'cos it's a cracking wee piece of kit.

Hey guys, I just got my touch pro last week and now the keyboard wont work. No drops or water damage. It wont light up or anything. I dont want to have to go back to the sprint store, so if u guys have any suggestions that would be awesome. Thanks.
Sorry
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I had the same thing happen to me. I spent probably a combined total of 8 hours on the phone with different people before I got any kind of solution. I couldn't find anything online. I was out of the initial Sprint Warranty. So Sprint said, sorry, you're gonna have to pay for a whole new device. That wouldn't work, the device was just 3 months old. So I called HTC, and at first they said there was nothing they could do either, until I talked to one person who forwarded me to PCD. They were able to fix it, for free under warranty, they replaced some RFID tag (IDK what that meant, it was in this checklist of tests they sent back) and sent the phone back. All I had to pay was shipping to their Repairs center. The bad thing was, it took them 3 weeks to work on it (only 4 days were shipping there and back). I hope I have been helpful, and I am sorry about the bad news. I know the feeling.
Hey, i had the same problem but i went to sprint and change my device, the new one works perfect, my advice go back and change it.

Not much but maybe
Had one that same thing happened. Performed hard reset and corrected it maybe temp fix though but it worked so far about a week of good use so far.
I had the same thing on my Verizon Pro, what I found was (I took mine apart) was that the cable had came loose from it's connector, I just had to reseat it and works perfect. By the way I bought it that way (got a great deal because it didn't work).

I have the same keyboard problem...it doesn't work most of the time, but once in a blue moon it will....the keyboard lights come on, but no input from keys work....so is that still a connector issue you think? Did you keyboard backlight come on?
2nd question: How do I open my TP?
Thanks.
Here's a link with the Touch Pro teardown, thanks to BigDiesel07 @ PPCGeeks. Hope this helps a bit...

I am not sure if my keys lite up or not, it has been a while, but it sounds to me like a possible connection issue with it being intermittent.
happened to me twice hopefully tp2 fixes this little issue.
same problem!!! just go to sprint, they can fix the problem... "they changed my keyboard"!!!
yah me too, i took my touch pro back to Sprint and they changed the whole touch screen part of the phone for me in 45 mins and for some reason that fixed the keyboard as well, so i guess the problem is in the touch-screen part of the phone, not the keyboard itself
Try this. Take out the battery and pinch extremely hard on the space button to re-seat the keyboard cable.
I'm not completely sure if it will work as I got my phone replaced before I found this fix.
Try it and let me know if it helped any.

Genius! However, i am not. Your solution worked, however i fear it may be a temporary solution? I want to get this fixed while under warranty and dumb ol' me fixing it, well, now i won't have anything to show the sprint store

go to your phone carrier.
demand a NIB replacement. (new in box)
it states in the manufacturing warranty that you get a NIB replacement for the keyboard. it's a known problem, tell them to call the tech department or htc tech support and they will tell the rep the same thing.
Don't leave without a NEW replacement.
Don't take a refurb(mailed out) replacement.

I call BS on that one. lol.
I did it... removed bat', piched key b'. it now works... eeeeeeeeyesss
Got a 0 hour touch pro less than 2months, keyboard started lagging since 2 weeks ago, then extra spaces and duplicate letters and finally died after a charging session in a hot weather day.
Removed battery and press spacebar top and bottom very hard to resit the keyboard connector fixed the issue.
Same happened to me on my Alltel CDMA Touch Pro after having owned it for about 4 weeks. It would also not shut off the screen backlight. Was very odd. Luckily, my Alltel store is literally across the alley from my house, so I ran a full backup using Sprite Backup, walked over there, and they swapped it out for a new phone within 10 minutes. Took me another 45 minutes to restore the backup, but wasn't nearly as bad as sending it away for several weeks to be repaired.
I picked mine up from an EE store yesterday and had a few issues when setting it up. The app store kept throwing up errors everytime I selected an app from a list, and my work exchange email just wouldn't work so I attempted a reset (Settings > About > Reset).
Bad move, now all I have is a Nokia logo on my screen. I've tried the 2 button and 3 button resets but have not seen anything on screen apart from the Nokia logo and the low battery screen.
That'll make it 3 x 900s and 1 x 920 I've returned this year. Probably time for me to give up on Nokia and just stick with Samsung.
Have you tried starting it up without the SIM in? May seem silly but my first EE SIM was faulty and it made my phone get stuck in a bootloop. One new SIM card later and it was perfectly fine again!
Only on XDA.

Just passing by this forum an saw this...
that's not normal my friend, for 900 or 920 devices, or perhaps you are unfortunately one of the most unlucky people alive. But statistically that suggest that you would have more luck staying with Nokia, the chances of there being 5 dud devices (assuming no user intervention helped them on their broken way) is astronomically high, changing to another brand resets that statistical analysis to zero, ergo if you are just an unlucky person you will more likely have problems with Samsung
Well all 3 of my 900's came from the same store and were white. I've always suspected that they were all from the same delivery and production batch so put that one down to bad luck. My L920 I think may well have been user error from when I did a hard reset, thinking that I couldn't connect to the app store because my phone needed a reset rather than because the store was down!
However, there are number of people posting in the WPCentral forum who have also killed their phone on a hard reset, so I tested my 2nd handset in the store before leaving and it survived a hard reset so I was happy.
I've now got a replacement and it's all good (apart from the horrid rattle when the vibration goes off for an alert).
My sister exchanged her L920 too as it was suffering from freezing everyday. Hopefully her 2nd handset won't be as troublesome.
I think wp8 is not stable because this is same problem in every other wp8 phone. Microsoft should do something quick before it's too late.

Apparently the rebooting bug is already under investigation .. switching bands from 4G to 3G and/or using different APN settings seems to work for some.

I know this may not be the right forum but I'll say this anyway. This here is a classic example of not understanding probabilities. Intuitively, this argument seems right - since you've already had 4 devices which had problems, the probability of having a 5th device with problem is very less.
However, in reality, the probability of getting a device with problems is not related to the past. So whichever device you choose, your probability of getting a dud device is same regardless of how many problems you've had in the past.
I know this doesn't help but I thought I'll take this opportunity to clear this up
My 2nd handset is now 6 days old and so far I've encountered the following
1) The loud vibrate rattle. I had this on my Lumia 900s so I'm really unimpressed Nokia haven't resolved this issue yet
2) Slightly crackly sound from the loudspeaker (not the earpiece) - this is a minor issue for me really
3) 1 random reset/lock up.
Honestly, it's issue #1 that actually bugs me as #2 is minor and #3 will get fixed in a software update at some point. 1 reboot in a week is fine.
SO my dilemma is whether I take the phone back again this weekend to exchange for one which doesn't rattle :S
I believe they all rattle because of the springs in the camera. You could get the 8x, it's arguably a better looking device with no rattles . However, it'll mean sacrificing Nokia software and that camera. 8x camera is very very good, but the 920 has the best cam of any phone (barring 808).

Hello all this is my first post as I am a new nokia 920 yellow owner. I wanted to comment to show there is currently a solution to bricked devices due to factory reset bug. I have not tested it but, it should be avaliable to everyone considering the people that buy online and don't have access to quickly exchange a device. I hope this helps out some of you.

with regard to brightness, not even a £1000 DSLR can always get it right, experiment with white balance, artificial light can be a real problem to adjust for so quite often you need to set that manually, not saying that's your problem, but id strongly suggest you try changing those settings

Hi,
I have the same issue with my Z Ultra c6833, just the red led light when connected to the charger and pc. I dont get any responses to the buttons or any vibration when pressed. Before it died, It still powered on showing me the time and how much battery it has, around 92%. So decided to connect my magnetic charging cable to charge and waiting for the green led light meaning it's charging, but never got the green light and the Ultra never powered up again. Its on the official kitkat rom, not rooted and not a scratch, well babied. Tried charging it over night and the whole day, still just the red led light I get and computer doesn't even recognize it when it's plugged in.
Can I send it for warranty here in canada even though it's the c6833 model? Or can I send it to any service center to have it fix? And how much do you guyz think it will cause me to have it fix?
Thanks in advance for future replies.

Can I send it for warranty here in canada even though it's the c6833 model? Or can I send it to any service center to have it fix? And how much do you guyz think it will cause me to have it fix?
Thanks in advance for future replies.

EDIT: Information given to me below by the online Sony Rep was incorrect. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56814703&postcount=17 for correct info.
Just talked to a Sony rep as I'm interested in buying this phone from the US and wanted to know about warranty etc. Your covered by 1 year manufacturer's but you have to send it to the centre with country of origin. I'm not sure if that means the country you bought it from (which was what I was asking because I wanted to buy it from the States) or the intended region of the phone. If your phone is under warranty (i.e. within a year of purchase) you should be able to get it fixed but you will have to mail it out of the country. If out of warranty I'm not sure -- may be able to get it fixed here.

Your responses are totally uncalled for and completely disproportionate. Actually they're downright offensive. "Blond" - really?
Blueether is trying to help you with common troubleshooting practices. No one knows (or cares) who you are and what your technical expertise/background is. Even seasoned experts make common mistakes.
Not to mention that Blueether has contributed tremendously to this community. In all likelihood you have benefited from his work in some form or another. I don't think I can say the same about your profile. You were lucky he was willing to take a look at your problem.
No one owes you help. These guys are on here in their spare time with no renumeration. People like you ruin it for everyone else seeking to give/receive assistance.

1st when you cant see someone (personal conversations versus typing)and the first ish help is if i used the charger the right way anyone would go nuts....In the first post i detailed as much as possible to make sure i wont get the "common" resolution options hence they were all tried and failed.
2nd yes it is great but that means he can read too just like you if you read it from the beginning. I would of been lucky if i get the right attitude from the other end too.
3rd i didnt say anyone owe me help. i searched, read, and asked when all failed. in my spare time i run non-profit help and information sites +teaching beginners for free so don't need lessons how to use my spare time. People like you who doesnt read ruin communities to be fair. Read first ask 2nd is what i do and did in the past almost 20 years since i had my 386. so go and read it again and troll somewhere else with you logic.
Thx

Hi,
I have the same issue with my Z Ultra c6833, just the red led light when connected to the charger and pc.

Hi
I been to about 50 shops nobody were able to fix it nore there was any solution online anywhere The best you can try is to sell it on eBay they will bid it over £100 easily if your screen is in mint condition.

Just to follow up. I bought a device on ebay that stated the location as Memphis. The fedex shipment is actually coming from Singapore.
I chatted with an online rep and further called Sony Canada and they both confirmed that a device under 1 year manufacturer's warranty CAN be given to a Sony Canada Service Centre. The only caveat is that they cannot give a turnaround time (it's usually 2 weeks or something) as they say they may need to get parts from abroad.
I'm not sure how much that would apply for a C6833 as it's more or less the same as the C6806.
But there you have it.
Thanks for the reply Unidentifier
When I called Sony Canada on Nov 9th, they verified my c6833 still under warranty by checking the IMEI number. They emailed me the RMA number and shipping label for Purolator ( Shipping out and back is free, so I didn't spend a penny ) Service Center here in my area in Toronto is in Mississauga.
The rep told me that it will take a little longer than the standard 2 weeks to get it back because the device is an Asian/European version, because there's chances they might order the parts from it's place of origin.
But to my surprise, after they received my c6833 on Nov 12th I got a notice form Purolator last Nov 18th that my device came back from the service center already. So picked it up at the depot, at first I was so worried because I'm thinking maybe they didn't fix it cause it came back to quickly. After inspecting the device and the documents that came back with it, found out that they replaced it with a new Bell c6806 on Kitkat v. 14.4.a.0.108 but unlock, it works with Koodo and Rogers sim.
So all is well now, just not sure if I lost something because they gave me a c6806 instead of my previous c6833.
My only question now is how to prevent this from happening again? My feeling is that the magnetic charging cable is the reason why my device died, maybe that's the reason why Sony never made an official magnetic charging cable. Because there's always high chances you'll attach it in the wrong way. Unlike with the charging dock, it won't go in and connect itself unless it's putted in the right way.
Overall warranty experience with Sony is awesome! ?

About the question : sent the unit to Sony and they asked for £12 to find out it is dead. When i received it back went to another mobile repair shop just incase and they shown me that whatever they did they actually fried the mobo and cracked it too in the "diagnostics" process. So i took the screen out and sold it on eBay to get back at least some money after all the months of searching reading arguing waitingFORsony etc.
So for about 6 months my phone worked fine in all ways. Then I broke the screen and had it replaced (for more than I could have sold the phone for...). Then a few months ago (about 9 months after buying) my regular call microphone stopped working. Oh well. I could still call on speakerphone because I guess it used a different microphone. Except now that microphone is dead too. My phone is now a small tablet incapable of calling.
Different roms, clean flashes, stock, aosp, etc. Nothing changed it. I think it's a hardware issue.
Now that I got my screen replaced is there any chance that LG will fix it for me if I can make it appear stock, or will they know and demand I pay some ridiculous price to get it back? At this point I guess I might as well send it in and try because my only other option is to use an old phone or maybe waste half of my net worth on an unlocked M8. Still, I'd like to have some input on what you all would do.

Or you could have a go at replacing both microphones its not to tricky there are many tutorials on you tube.
I'm being forced to use a moto x until I get another upgrade. This phone has slowly degraded into barely being useful as every phone I've ever had has. HTC is the only android brand left for me to try. I hope the m9 is amazing.

The phone itself is fine. Willing to bet something went wrong during the time either:
When the screen was damaged or
During the repair process.
That's probably what LG is going to say if you try to ask them to repair damage they're not responsible for.
I would replace the Mic and speaker as Melt1down suggested and go from there.
The phone is not fine. Every phone I've ever had has had this problem. It slowly gets worse and worse and nothing changes it. And I didn't drop my phone, so don't assume things you don't know.
I have a refurb Lg G Flex 2 , which I love! Lg sent it to me as part of BBB settlement. NOT warranteed as I sent them a broken one and they refused to warranty it, so who knows what they did with MY phone, but they sent me another one, stating it was mine... But none of that matters. Camera works for a couple shots, then camera not found or cannot connect to camera . Often front facing option is gone as well. Same with Snap chat or any other camera i install. Have taken out SD card, works for a few minutes,
cleared cache, same thing,
forced stop- same,
restarted,
hard reset,
Everything I have found online I have done.
Except dropping it which I think is a bit stupid! I have removed back , opened and taken it apart- all looks secure and ok.
As it does come on and work fine for a while after each "fix" I would like to assume the it is software related, not hardware. I found in only one place someone mention the latest update caused this issue, but have found NOTHING more on it.
android version 5.1.1 software version H95012d.
I do have a new Moto g 4 plus i can use, but I love my flex! Really hoping someone can help me! Thanks
The issue with that device is well known. They put the cpu too close to the camera modual and it over heats the camera making it not be detected.
So
There isn't anything I can do is what you are saying?

Yeah pretty much. It has been an on going issue with LG devices for a few versions.
