Hy XDA-members out there,
I have an old HP touchpad (10,1 tablet) laying arround and I want to make it useful again.
So
Does anyone know an app which showes me the current time and the weather forecast of today/tomorow in clear big symbols?
Preferable with a black background so I can keep it turned on at night.
I don't need a widget.
Thank you very much
btw.
This old tablet running Android 6 is actually very impressiv in terms of battery life.
Without the google stuff I can get a sleeping time of over 2 months.
Battery is at 60% and it tells me "40 days left".
Absolutely impressiv.

Hello,
I'm on SGS 2, lite'ning rom 2.2 and i use launcherpro plus cause it looks great.
Now... if i use like 6-7 homescreens with calender, friends, facebook etc...will it eat more battery than using 1-2 homescreens?
It should not right? cause the program itself is running...
Any thoughts are welcome..
greets
maybe my android os = 50 % :S
I dont think that the pure amount of homescreens drains more or less battery, but ofc. the more active widgets(Twitter, News, ...) you use, the more battery will be used.
More homescreens makes the process use up more memory. With you using more widgets, your Launcher Pro will use up more memory. More memory usage equals more battery power is necessary. So if you USE those homescreens they'll suck your battery dry.
Btw, you made two threads.
Will asking the same question twice eat up more forum space?

It's not about more Home screens but the widgets in them. More widgets=More battery drain, especially the one like Accuweather which continuously searches for place and refresh temp at an specified interval unless you stop automatic refresh.
Regards.
It is called Elecont Weather I believe. I for some reason or another liked the clock/weather widget. Did not really care for any of the other widgets. The app itself has soo much info, even earthquakes, radar and moon phase. But I don't like the constant t notifications. Anybody else download this? Did you notice if it sucks your battery or not?
Here is a screen pic of some of the widgets

I loaded this on both my tabs (7 & 10.1) and am still playing with it. Have the the "clock" widget on the 10.1. It's an interesting app. I am hoping they will offer more than the 2 weather sources (it seems that intellicast has been offline updating the past day or so forcing me to switch to the other (euro-based) site. Also hoping they offer some more status icons as they seem okay on the 7" but are a bit too big on the 10.1 status bar. Haven't had the tabs out and about off the charger yet to see if they suck battery, but then I usually put them on airplane mode when I carry them around and turn on the net if I need to do something on them requiring net access.
I love the stock news and weather widget from AOSP(genie widget), but it sometimes doesn't work right. I have it set to refresh every hour, but it rarely does. When I manually refresh it the location is almost always off, on the second refresh the location does update. Anyone else see these problems? I'm using CM7 nightlies on an Incredible. It may be an incredible thing, I'm not sure because it seemed to work better on my Eris.
I know everyone will recommend their favorite weather widget, but honestly I've tried a lot(including wasting money on beautiful widgets) and never found one I liked. If there is one that can give me news, automatic location updates, a temp graph(the hardest part), transparent widget and doesn't kill the battery I would love it.
thanks,
I have an Inspire 4G and I'm having the same issue. I also like this widget a lot, but unless I have it set to 1 hour refresh, the weather doesn't update. I have tried Minimalistic Text and it's great, but it does not have the temperature graphs like you're looking for.
Thanks for the response, at least I'm not alone.

I have activated the live wallpaper with the weather background running.
As it's the first time I've used it on my S3 and my old S2 I'm not sure how it affects the performance of the battery or the phone!
Anyone have any feedback on live wallpapers, is it better to leave them off or do they have no effect.

I guess the weather is updating every hour or so, just as the widget, so no big deal. About the wallpaper...I think that each of us is seeing the wallpaper just 5% of the time we use the phone. Most of time the screen is off (no wallpaper running) and when is on we are using it (calls, games, messaging, etc), so that wallpaper shouldn't use more than 1% of the battery. Just my 5 cents.
I use a sony one and the battery is fine, but is not updating all the time o.0 just my 3 weather widgets (diff apps) slices and dunno what else haha
Hello all!
Been using Themer for some days now, and it's just great compared to other launchers out there. I tried GO launcher but hated the ads and 'chinese style'. Tried Nova too, but it was too similar to TW in my use. Themer is both original and not-pushy.
I use the HUD theme, which looks great and keeps the kids away from my phone (because it looks so weird ). One thing I don't really care about is the weather. I have a weather app I use daily to check the weekly forecast, I go out a few times a day, I have windows in my house so I can check the weather by turning my head... I really don't need Themer telling me the wrong weather anymore.
So, my request: could someone swap the weather widget to show something else, like core temp? I know I could do it myself, but it would take weeks and most of you can probably do it in a few minutes.

Hi there!
Having something like core temp is a bit tricky, as the widgets we provide don't really include that option.
Have you tried going into Themer Settings - Weather - then changing your weather provider - this might fix your temp problem.
You could always post the theme's wallpaper (found in Themer Wallpapers in your Gallery) and we could try Photoshop the "temperature" text and replace it with something else instead?
Changing the provider doesn't help. It still shows 0 all the time.
I can't think of much else to fill the empty space with. While I was quickly checking how the themes are built, I noticed that there's a line in launchersettings.xml that looked weird:
Code:
<string name="com.mycolorscreen.themer.wallpaper_transistion">slide</string>
Is it really supposed to be 'transistion' and not 'transition'?
Anyway, onto the request again. I'm starting to feel OK with the weather filling the space. I think I have figured out something though: I have all my location things off, so it mught cause a problem for the weather widget. Ideally I'd like it to work so that you have an option to lock your location (just use the one it has now and lock it or type it in) and then it just regularly sends weather data on the same location to the widget. Now it seems to try to fetch your location, then send it to the weather service and that sends the data back to widget. I don't travel much so having a locked location would be a nice thing to have in the widget. Only time the widget has chances of updating the temp is when I go geocaching
Does it even work like that?
