i read in many threads now that tw is only designed for same device restore
i didnt know that
can i use a root browser or similar to extract my old apps amnd (data) and migrate to g5 because i really need it... lg g4 is sold :cyclops:
which files excactly are needed ( data.ext4 for example??)
if you have root, use simply titanium backup to restoe Apps with data. But restore device settings is a big risk. Set it manually and dont restore it you can restore a many systemapps, but dont restore app and data, restore data only...

1) i am on Lite.romv1.4 now say i want to mig to a diff rom which does
a full wipe , so i'll take the back up(via cwm recovery)
-now that backup is stored on my int. storage , even if i move it to some
other place say my system , at the time of restore can we do it directly
from the system(point is does the backup file needs to be there in the
device storage(int or ext) at the time of restore - assuming device is
connected)
2)now when a diff rom is loaded (which has done full wipe) ,
-any other way can i get my prev data and app installed settings without
restore
-and if i do restore what exact will happen , mean ,will my prev app and data
settings get restored on top of new rom or something else?
3)How to get cwm recovery menu screen from PHONE Switched OFF state?
4)how can i delete samsung hub apps by editing system and framework files?

Titanium Backup will do everything you asked for (I recomment the Pro version and you MUST be rooted).
It will backup and restore apps and data, and will also freeze or uninstall any app.
It's on the market for free, but I really do recommend paying the small amount for the full version.

+1 Ti is one of the few apps I would recommend to anyone that wants to flash roms. You can backup all your apps and settings before a flash and then restore quickly and easily. The freeze function is very handy also. IMO you buy this one and never look back. A MUST HAVE.
A nand backup will be used to restore the phone as it already exists. It does not backup apps and settings specifically but you can pull apks and such out of one. Basically you do a nand before you start playing around and if you screw something up or just take an instant dislike to the new rom you flashed you can go into recovery and restore that nand and your phone will be just like you never did anything. It will not however back up your radio.
What I do is backup a few apps data separately and then go into Ti and backup all my apps and system data. I boot into recovery and I make a nand. Then I go over to usb storage and I move the entire contents of the sd over to my computer. This will have both the nand and the Ti backup on it. I delete the entire internal storage after I have taken a quick look to make sure that the backup on my pc is good. This gives me a completely fresh base to start a new rom from. Once I have the new rom flashed I move my ti backup over and restore. I then move the other data that the backup contains that I want back on the phone over and I'm up and running. I keep my music and other stuff that is just going to move from one flash to the next on my sd card as it isnt wiped in the process even if you do a hard reset and it can just stay there without the hassle of backing it up and restoring it. Do not delete your backup until you are sure that you have everything you may want back across to your phone. I usually keep it until the next rom when I start the process over with a new backup.
@JJEgan - which part
@johncmolyneux ,@krabman - thnx guys
so int. usb storage will also be wiped in the process, right?
also can u clarify
- How to get cwm recovery menu screen from PHONE Switched OFF state(like we see by using the function from cwm app -> reboot into CWM rec)
- how can i delete samsung hub apps by editing system and framework files(or if any other file for that matter)?
(assuming i have req explorer)
Hi, i'm looking for a good way to restore apps+data from my "old" Samsung s3 to my S4.
I tried to restore throught Titanium backup but my attempts are gone bad because the system shown me errors in many apps, in process.gapps, etc. and i should to do factory resets continuously!
Although i tried to download apps from Play Store too, I tried to select "restore old id" (to avoid compatibility issues), i tried to use ".xml" file, i excluded to restore apps system and i restored only data, i'm still having problems and i don't know how can i find a best way..
Can you help me?

Can some one suggest a good backup & restore apk or mod for whatsapp. I have tried various ways by searching in google & tested it but some messages goes missing even after backing up & restoring it or restoring it after changing custom rom.
:what:
I habe no problems backing up and restoring whatsapp history. And I've done this many times.
Whatsapp is backing up at 4 o'clock in the morning automatically. So if you restore the history, you have to make a backup direct before you want to restore. Go into settings and select backup. Then you can change the Rom and restore the full history

I tried it many times to do as what u have said but few conversations go missing. After backing up the latest do we have to delete the other backup files and keep the latest and then restore or?????
Hm, whole conversions are missing? Then i have no idea. Sry.

If you are rooted, I suggest Titanium Backup... With that you can backup any system or user application and its data.
Well, except for Whatsapp which will not backup and restore images or audio bits. But text messages in whatsapp will do just fine.

Generally Whatsapp backs up all the data once a day as per set time. If you want to ensure every thing till the time you want to copy it, go to menu>settings>chat settings>Back up conversations. It will back up till this time.
Then go to internal storage using file manager. copy folder named 'WhatsApp' to your computer or to the external sd card (SD card - only if you do not plan to format it ! )
Then you can install the new ROM or do factory reset... what ever you plan to do.
Then again copy the whatsApp folder back to internal storage. Then install WhatsApp. When you run it, it will ask you whether you want to restore the back up. Proceed. You have everything back as it was earlier !
Backing up with Titanium Backup will not take care of the Media in Whatsapp. The media is stored on the root of the internal memory under a folder called Whatsapp.

Hey
Im using Custom Roms now for over a year, but i always have one problem with restoring data.
I mostly use the Google Feature, that restores all your apps. But all the time i have to login in every app again and again. I mostly als make a Titanium Backup, but when i restore these over the preinstalled apps some apps crash or on Lineage OS the whole System was unusable. I also make a TWRP backup, restoring is not always possible when you switch to another Rom.
I also dont own Titanium Backup Pro, so autoinstalling dont work.
How do you restore apps + data ?
What guide did i miss ?
Thanks in advance
move up.
I 'm also interested which app for backup is recommend.
I know oandbackup and TitaniumBackup.
Till know I only tried oandbackup but there are several problems. Backup to SD-Card doesn't work. Also to internal storage the backup was complete but only a few MB big but should have a lot more.

TRY THIS APP
https://apkpure.com/backup-app-backup-restore/com.k2.backup
used to be on playstore but now removed
it copies your apk and data and restores it next time!
however later i found bug that it doesnt restore automatically
1. make backup by backup+ on customrom 9
1b. make backup of all APK by https://apkpure.com/app-backup-restore-easiest-backup-tool/mobi.usage.appbackup
flash new rom android 10
2a. restore APK only made by https://apkpure.com/app-backup-restore-easiest-backup-tool/mobi.usage.appbackup
2b, now create new apkonly bakeup only by backup+ and https://apkpure.com/backup-app-backup-restore/com.k2.backup
2c, restore "DATA ONLY" of PREVIOUSLY made backup by BACKUP+

After letting Google install all the apps just restore data from titanium, NOT app+data. Also, if you do this often just buy titanium. You spend so much money on the phone and titanium also works on all your future phones. It really saves you a lot of time and is well worth the money.
Titanium is the answer , it is feature packed as hell.
Also if you want to use a different android version backup to another version (Like from 9 to 10), you can always just restore the Data, it works for me always.
You can let google download all your previous apps in android 10 and then restore only data from Titanium, you can obviously batch select the apps to restore.

Do what you would normally do to restore any application, if the application is already installed you will be provided an option for restoring data only.

About the best way to Backup & Restore Data on Xiaomi phone, if there is a computer, my suggestion is Coolmuster Android Assistant. It's easy and safe. You just need to connect your Xiaomi phone to computer via usb cable, enable usb debugging on it. A deep scan later, you can take backup of your Xiaomi phone with 1-click. After that, you can use it restore data from backup directly.

Does it back up app data ? What about permissions ?
note 8, pie, 9.0, alexndr rom. rooted.
Does anyone know of a way to completely backup the phone. app data, emails. Essentially im looking for something that backups up everything. Its ncrypted so cant use twrp. I have titanium but its a long process backing up. Anything that can backup to sd or on pc. Thanks.
You can't do it without root access.
If you have root access than titanium backup is perfect for this job or using recovery backup option you can backup whole phone.
Unfortunately without root access your options are very limited.
You may try to do so by giving all access / previlages to your phone to Google and Samsung and using their apps making a cloud backups.
