Hi all,
just picked up an MXQ Pro 4K android box from bangood
http://www.banggood.com/MXQ-Pro-4K-...-1GB8GB-TV-Box-Android-Mini-PC-p-1015008.html
and i've been trying to get the thing into recovery mode but no luck so far. The reset switch is located at the back of the spdif port and powering the device up with it depressed does absolutely nothing it just boots up as normal.
Any ideas?
cheers, Lee
Update: Think I may of discovered why the 'reset' switch does nothing, it would seem one of the terminals isn't actually connected to anything. Pressing the switch shorts out the terminals with the red arrows ...

Hi Lee,
there was a similar problem with my box. I don't fix the button but you can enter recovery by installing a Terminal Emulator and type in 'reboot recovery'. When you want to boot from SD or USB you can make a fake update. Create a zip with a harmless textfile, call it 'update.zip' and make a system update with it like Craig mentioned in the LibreElec Forum (can't post the link here, because I don't write more than 10 messages. Search for thread 1497 and post 12351). When you boot up LE one times, the box will always check, if there is a medium on USB 4 or SD to boot from first. There is another solution from cHarOn on the LE Forum (thred 1497 and post 12351 I don't test. Maby this will fix the button (when it is physical connected).
I hope this can help you with the box.

Hey Guys, any one here Can help Me
I am not an expert, but does the device still recognise external SD?
If so, maybe this will work:
1. Download a stock util from here https://www.mediafire.com/folder/23ycdy8i4f8mu/ASUS-me172v
(I previously used http://www.mediafire.com/download/3rn6cnzh95va6np/SD_RESTORE_UTIL_20130724_STOCK.ZIP)
2. Format external SD in FAT32 (so at least 4GB microSD card)
3. Extract contents of the stock util zip to the root of the SD
4. Put SD in the device and hope it'll boot from there, so you can restore a previous flash.
Maybe the device has to be rooted for this to work, in that case look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216390&page=27 and search Google for Me172vRootUtil_v0.1.zip
I hope this works, and if not, maybe someone else can help you!

I also have the same problem with my device. it doesn't have any reset or volume button on it. I posted about my problem here:

I found a part on PCB board which said recovery so I connected the two pin and I got it into recovery but there is no option there. there is also three holes which says debug but I don't know how to connect it to pc.
I had a same device and using Online Nandroid backup I made a backup of the ROM which gave me boot.img recovery.img and some other files I put them in the SD card and put the device on recovery but nothing starts and there is only an android guy resting with no option and since there is no volume or power button I can't get into any option
thanks
This is also a picture of the board
I just bricked my Nubia N1, by doing a factory reset. Now the phone starts and it asks me to start configuring it, by choosing the language.
The problem is: It does not recognize and touch on the screen, so I can not choose anything and it does not pass from there. I've read on another forum that someone had this same problem.
I tried to use the recovery to flash another room, but the recovery was also reverted back to original, and it only allow me to flash from sd card. But the phone does not have option to insert an sd card.
I tried also to flash another recovery, using the fastboot, but it does not work, because the oem is locked. When I try to unlock it, it says: FAILED.
Does anyone have any idea that would help with this situation?

Apply pressure on the back of your, especially on camera portion. Reboot and then try.
It's a hardware issue, where i guess the connectors fell loose.
Hope it helps.
problem with my zte nubia n1
the screen turning off during a call
Hi,
using the Hisense A5. A family member was using the phone and put in a passcode that they forgot.
I am unable to get far enough into the phone to enable USB Debugging.
I am able to get the phone into recovery mode (using power-on, volume down). which is the "Vision" recovery system.

I cannot speak or read simplified chinese. Because the Hisense A5 has an eInk screen, I was able to scan the screens and upload it to an OCR site that could convert the image into characters. Then I could use google translate.
Anyway. I chose the first option which is "Recovery".
The screen I get is the following.
Using google translate. I can make out that the first choice is "Reboot", second choice is "Delete user data" and the third choice is "Update system".
I have tried the "Delete user data", and I can seem to make it work. But after the phone reboots, the passcode is still there.
The only other possibility I have is the third option which is "Update System". If I choose that I get the following option.
As you can see, the only thing I am able to do is to get the recovery system to to somehow load the file "update.zip".
I have tried the commercial passcode remover iMyPhone, but it didn't work.
If someone had some ideas, I would really appreaciate them. I am very much stuck right now.
If you don't mind losing data then you can simply reflash your device.
Download the actual chinese Firmware from here

Follow this guide to re-flash the downloaded Firmware from a microSD

Hi JLowe, a very big thank you.
I was able to download the firmware. (Took a few attempts, but I got there in the end), and have it installed.
Right now, I'm trying to work out how to put the phone into debugging and put on some other ROMS. Similar to what others have done.
Ok, so i got this random Huawei P20Lite right?
Back isnt pealed off, works fine, no damages.
BUT WAIT... About Works Fine... It Wont really boot up into The OS!!!

Again, not my Picture.
Acording to Huawei, You have to Use HiSuite to recover it.
1. Put the Phone into Fast Boot. AND conect to PC
2. Open HiSuite on Your PC and click on Recovery mode or whatever its called.
3. i donk know i forgot.
anyways, i get this nice little message
(In translated, this means That: Your Device doesnt support System Recovery.
Bro wth
Anyways, our phone story doesnt end there...
I tried doing it without the Computer.
using eRecovery!!! not surprising i know...
Still, it was stuck on booting animation trying to enter eRecovery.
According to Huawei, "this message is displayed when a system file is replaced or modified, or the system is manually updated to an unofficial version". They were responding to another user with the same issue as mine.
I think that this is the Issue. Still, the instructions to fix it, dont work. (as tested above.)
Tutorials show the eRecovery method without the PC.
Here are some info i found:
Another Guy having the same issue:
i forgot the link but someone else on XDA Had the same issue.
