If you force update this way still shows the message at boot that you are in beta ?

The factory images are taking an age

[SUGGESTION] Add OTA changes thread

I think it would be very helpful for people trying to decide if an OTA update should be accepted if one of the developers or senior contributors started the thread:
[GUIDE] Summary of changes with each OTA update
In the top message of that thread summarize the the changes, capabilities added and removed, and whether it is rootable, and other useful information. For example:
SM-N900V-MI9
- Initial release.
- Android version 4.3
- Rootable with Root de la Vega.
SM-N900V-MJ7
- First update.
- Android version 4.3
- Lose ability to flash MI9.
- etc.
SM-N900V-MJE
- Second update
- Android version 4.3
- Lose the ability to flash previous versions.
- Modem moved to kernel so modems can no longer be flashed.

I just noticed this post.. nice ... I just was notified this morning of the second update. The wife did hers before I got up and lost root but system info still says 4.3.
Where did the 3rd update come from?
Please edit the op. This is going to confuse a lot of people. The mje update isn't 4.4 and there's not a third update. I know you were giving an example but that's not clear.
Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app
They were fictitious examples because I'm not that familiar with the device yet. I've deleted the fictitious third update.

Android N-MR1 OTA Pushed

Hopefully it gets the assistant and pixel launcher.
Really? Can't you see any threads about 7.1 DP already? Why start another?
Let's keep the discussion in the existing thread. There is OTA talk in there, as well

Android Q Support

I'm wondering if I'll be able to install a stock Google android Q GSI as the phone supports project treble. Wilinstalling through fastboot or Odin trip Knox?
Is there a way to get Q without rooting the device?
I'm running Pie with the April security patch
Flashing official ROMs won't trip knox. You'll probably need to wait for the first beta to get released to get a flashable zip.
Also, I don't see any Android 10 based rom. Even if you root, there is nothing at the moment that you can flash. A lot of OEMS pushed already update with beta based on android 10 even Huawei. Sadly, Samsung is not one of them :crying:

Rolling back my LG V30 to Android 8 (Oreo)

I have an app that does not work after Android 8 that I need and there is no replacement in 9 or above. I managed to avoid updating my v30 to v9 and later for a year or so. It accidentally allowed the update to 9 this past weekend while I was camping. All I want to do is roll back to stock v8 or 8.1 (Oreo).
I have enough tech knowledge to follow directions and understand rooting but am having a really hard time finding the "right directions." As I was reading some of them, I found caveats like, "Use X unless you have the delta update and then use Y but not if you want to run Z. For Z, you have to follow this other thread." I also know that using the wrong settings or data file could brick the phone.
So, I'm hoping someone can help me narrow down what sets of directions I need to follow.
Here's what I have right now:
LG V30 (VS996) On Verizon Network
Developer Options Enabled
Android V9
Security Patch Level August 1, 2019
Kernel Version: 4.4.153
Build #: PKQ1.190414.001
Software version: VS99630c
Again, all I want to do is roll back to stock v8 or 8.1 (Oreo).
Bonus would also be a way to stop asking me every day to update or delay a day and just wait until I manually do it.
Thx in advance!!

Follow the instructions on both the pages. I think you can take it from here.
Note that implied with this process is that you cannot downgrade your firmware without wiping the phone... there's no way to "patch" back to the old version. So, be sure to take backups FIRST.
If you're rooted on the old firmware, you can then disable/freeze/delete the update APKs so that the update warning goes away. But this requires root, so be aware of that. If you don't haven't rooted already, then this is a process of its own, and will require you to go back to Nougat in order to perform that, so you may want to do that before installing the final version of the ROM you want. You can find out how to do this rooting process on the WTF thread, post #193, located here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ar-instructions.3790500/page-10#post-76584629
If you don't want to root, that's fine, but then you must endure the update warning process... unless you can find another way to disable the update APKs.
Thank you both. I expected to wipe the phone so that's not an issue. I will first install Nougat, root and then update to Oreo.
There are about 14 Oreo ROMs on that site. Do I just pick the latest one or do I have to pick the earliest one and update that?
Pick the latest one.

Huawei nova 8i GMS

Hi everyone, I've recently bought the huawei nova 8i, and tried to follow some guides here in the forum and youtube in order to get GMS working, however it seems that every method requires a downgrade to emui 10.xx, which is impossible to do in this phone since the only emui version available is emui 11, and so the only option is to use emulators, which lack several features.
So, my questions are: Am I able to downgrade to emui 10 using the software from another huawei phone, or should I give up on that and install a custom rom? And if so, did huawei implement some kind of new security features preventing me to install a new OS. (The last huawei phone that I had was a huawei p8 lite 2016 and was running lineage OS). Am I going to run into some issues if I decide to install a custom OS?
