Paranoid Android official for Z5C - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i coincidentally found the z5c listed as an official supported device on the paranoid android website. i wonder why i didn't read anything here in the forum about it. has anybody tested it yet?
http://get.aospa.co/official/suzuran
i am neither involved in the development nor i am able to test it yet. (because my device is at the support)
is any developer here who can say anything about bugs?

I'm very interested in this rom. Hopefully everything works. Has anyone installed it yet? And what are the bugs? Does the fingerprint sensor work?

I have tryed it, no fingerprint scanner, and the camera was upside down...
I also didn't have recived the telegram sms, but don't know if this means that sms doesn't work..

Same here (camera upside down, no fingerprint sensor). The camera quality is very poor as well with the PA ROM. Furthermore, bluetooth did not work properly. If i were you I would wait for an update before testing it. The aforementioned bugs are already known and reported.

I thought Paranoid Android is usually built off of existing cyanogenmod builds? If it is would have all the same problems as our existing cm13?

Na, we don't know what the build source is. It could be for example an old build source....

Nightlies vs Incremental Alphas

I don't understand which is more reliable to use. I know what they are, etc. But will the nightlies have fixes for camera and mic or will they only be facing cm9 general bug fixes.
Please explain the process. Thanks guys
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Nightlies are ROMs that are compiled each night at a specified time using an automated server. The incremental alphas are ROMs that are compiled at a specified time and often become out dated. The developers then release a new version of the ROM.
Basically, Nightlies include the latest and greatest features, along with any fixes that might have been found during the day. This comes at the cost of stabillity though, as whatever code is merged with the main code is added to the nightly builds, whether stable and tested or not.
Incremental builds on the other hand are tested repeatedly and are much more stable.
So its really a matter of:

When camera and mic are fixed, I'm guessing it'll be a pretty big release soon thereafter.
If you want reliable and stable...stick with official.

I'm sorry to say that I don't know any more than you...
But if you really want to find out more, Dalingrin (one of the devs working on the project) has a Twitter account and is fairly active on google+ as well. I'm sure when there's progress made, those feeds will hear about it immediately.
Last I heard was a couple of months back, when he (or one of his cohorts) had said that they weren't focusing on camera and mic, because they had other priorities (or something like that). But that was before they got hardware acceleration working, so it could be that they've shifted their focus by now... or not (no idea).
Dalingrin stated that with official nightlys rolling out there will be no Alphas anymore.

What do u feel I am missing out on?
I've just heard some folks TPs not functioning after installing a nightly and/or a new gapps.
All I know is that my TP is really good the way it is now....although I have been tempted....
(I should clarify I have CM9A2.)

I just flashed the most recent nightly. I've been on alpha 2 for awhile so I am curious what significant changes have been made off the top of your head
Bluetooth/Sync
I'm waiting for the fix for the Bluetooth/Splashtop audio syncing issues. When you are watching videos from Netflix etc, (with bluetooth speaker) the sound is out of sync with the video.
If anyone knows of a third party app or workaround, it would be appreciated.
Till then, I'm sticking with CM7
Profiles?

I am curious, too. CM9 Alpha 2 does most things that I need, but I could use profiles. Is that feature enabled in the Nightly Builds? Otherwise I am very happy with Alpha 2 - it is certainly a step up from CM7.
It may just be in my head, but the UI performance seems better in the nightlies than it does on A2. In my case, scrolling in tapatalk is where the biggest difference seems to show up.

So far I have noticed that the nightly has made my wifi a bit spotty compared to alpha2 but it might have just been the different router.. seems to work fine now that I'm home.

Did you try any other ROMs?
Not really that uncommon. Especially if you are using a CM version that is higher than anything Samsung released for your phone. Trying to make some of the proprietary libs and drivers work on non Samsung software can be difficult for even the most experienced developers to sometimes not even possible so they have to use work arounds and open source stuff that doesn't always work the same. You can try some other camera apps that might be better like Camera Next or Open Camera.

Best CM based ROM?

Hey guys what do you think is the best CM based ROM and why?
I'm using mokee right now but it doesn't seem to be in development anymore. Also it has issues. Fingerprint sensor slow or unresponsive. Battery isn't great. Noticable lag in apps etc.
Which ROM has the most development?
Cheers
I also used mokee for a while and for me it is a very good ROM, except Kamera and Fingerprint sensor.
Mokee still in development, last update was today with some fixes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these updates are mostly auto builds with nothing device specific. The developer seem to make it clear that he was not developing for LeMax 2 anymore here.

sry my mistake, confused with another ROM.
Have you tryed ResurrectionRemix?
Been using the TeaMSpaiN CM13 ROM for a few weeks now.
A couple of minor bugs (wi-fi goes a bit nuts sometime and I've had 2 random battery drains) but overall it's fast and stable.
Worth checking out.

Mokee for now more stable. RR & LOS13 has one device tree and same errors we try to fix. I think it will be stable soon, but now it is beta, some errors with camera, voice quality.

Yeah I'm eagerly waiting for cr3pt's CM14. If you read the second post in the Mokee ROM post that guy explains what happened. There is drama throughout the post about what happened, but it is no longer actively developed.
Cm14 looks good, still no camera support tho ?

Current State of LineageOS 14.1

Hey guys. Does anybody know what bugs/missing functionality we currently have with the LineageOS 14.1 nightlies? https://download.lineageos.org/h830
I'm not a huge fan of LG's stock ROM, but I would like full functionality of my phone if I switch to a custom ROM. Thanks!

You can never get full functionality of LG Stock ROM on any custom ROMs.
Even though I have not flashed LOS, I can tell you few things that may not work.
1. Wide Camera
2. IR Blaster
3. Most Probably any friends modules if you own them.
I'm interested in knowing too before I try it. As long it's stable with all cameras working, I'd be fine.

How do you expect anyone to read through 300+ pages where things change all the time?

Well, I've been on los for a while now..
-As far as I know NFC is not working (on not using it so no idea, but it seems to drain the battery an not work properly)
-BT works for eg headphones but not for headsets
Charging is still an issue. It is faster now but still not even close to fast charging. An on a 3rd party charter or is ridiculously slow
-the wide angle camera is working but you have to toggle between the cameras to get to it. The auto focus might be a problem, but it is mostly solved I think.
-playing music is sometimes a drag, and can be laggy
-FM radio is non existing, not supported, will probably never be...
Other issues have been solved, other pop up, but since there are weekly updates, that's what it is.
-be careful, root has to be installed separately and if you don't do so, immediately after installing the ROM, you will most likely end up in the famous Twrp bootloop..
Before installing it I'd read at least the last 20 pages in the forum, these should give you an idea... Or go to the fulmics ROM. It is stock based so everything should be working. To my knowledge all the LOS based ROMs share the same issues.

Oh what is this - LineageOS 15?

Working:
RIL
Audio
Display
Bluetooth
Wifi
Sensors
Camera
Fingerprint
Broken:
VoLTE?
I will release when I want to.

In my opinion nougat and oreo are the most unexciting Google OS I know. It's nice to have, but half of the first year after release devs on XDA and even Google itself trying to bring back the performance or/and battery life the OS version before had.
Not to mention the problems with Magisk etc.

I suppose you're right. Neither Nougat or Oreo have brought significant changes, they have both been 'minor' updates with subtle changes to improve certain aspects of the OS. The last major update to Android was Lollipop, when the entire appearance was drastically overhauled from previous versions. I'm only excited because we just have to take what we're given, and any update to update the appearance and usability of Android after an entire year is a refreshing change! Even though Nougat was only a small update, it feels unbearable to me when switching back to Marshmallow without the new quick settings swipe-down; the one before the entire notification area appears. So even the small features can make a lot of difference to the overall experience! I'm still really looking forward to seeing the changes made in Oreo for myself when it comes to the Axon 7.

I don't get why people say this, honestly. Just because you didn't get a visual overhaul like you got from KitKat to Lollipop doesn't mean there weren't significant changes. Visually the OS is already at a level where there's no need for a major change (it has been "ready" since Lollipop, imo; Marshmallow, Nougat, and Oreo have all had small visual tweaks but have stuck to the Material language), and most of the tweaks work "under the hood." Oreo will bring Project Treble, which may just be the most significant change in Android in the last few years. It also brings improvements on the behavior of notifications and background services or apps. It's an incremental update, yes. But it's by no means a small update.
@Gases
We talked about excitement.
I mentioned the problems with the new OS updates, which brings maybe more security but also many problems to custom ROMs. Furthermore there are more problems in the first months. I don't need visual tweaks.
Project treble is mainly positive for stock ROMs. We will see, in which way custom ROMs can profit of this new feature.
Background battery eating apps are no problem on custom ROMs based on LOS, if you use the internal features or external apps. But again. It's nice to have already implemented.
Finally I am always thankful for all kind of ROMs and kernels devs provide to the community. And I was always someone who donated to say 'thank you'

Here is a small update about the situation. Since the most common stuff is working im going to release this rom in 1-3 days. But don't expect to much. This rom is still WIP.
Working now:
RIL(Calls, Sms)
Audio
Most of the stuff (NFC etc.)
Broken:
Camera
Fingerprint
VoLTE (Will be probably broken until we get new blobs)

Really looking forward to testing this when the first release is posted on the forums. I'm just hoping the camera and fingerprint sensor will be relatively simple to fix. Thanks for everything you've done so far!

I was just looking over in the Nexus 6 forms and to overcome the camera issue for them they had to upgrade from 7.1.2 - 8.0 and then restart the phone. So there is hope especially since the Nexus 6 is a 32-bit phone and I'm pretty sure 8.0 was supposed to be 64-bit.
