Been having battery issues the past couple days. Looks like my phone isn't dozing compared to before the issue, the battery graph would stay a flat line and barely discharge over night. I screenshot last night's discharge, went to bed with approx 95%and woke up around 70.
Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere, I searched but could not find. Recently switched back to Android, hope I don't regret it lol. I'm not rooted or on any custom ROM
If anyone has suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it
My two cents: try checking what app or service is consuming the battery under settings>battery and try to close it. In my experience, Android, even with the Doze feature, doesn't stand up to apple's standy consumption and app freeze.
From the screenshots it is a wakelock from android OS and this is actually a bug with stock rom in g5. Ive had this wakelock number of times on my H830 and this happens randomly after charging your battery to 100 percent. The only solution to this is to keep an eye on the battery section for 20 to 30 minutes after charging your phone and if there is the long wake time for android OS then reboot phone.
Rebooting the phone gets rid of the wakelock until it randomly occurs
On the sidenote for my tmobile Lg g5 a few things causes this wakelock
Manually turning on the lollipop battery saver
Restricting background data on the data section
Mostly after charging my phone
Hope i helped and just test out which action actually causes the wakelock and avoid it until there is a fix for non rooted phone/reboot phone more often
Thanks for the tips. I just did a clean wipe so I'll what happens. The wake lock issue is definitely not something I can live with though. Only way around it right now would be a custom ROM? Was hoping to avoid messing with all that this time around

I am having huge issues with my battery on my galaxy s2. It drains really fast, 60% over the last 15 hours this night when the phone has been idle. This has been an issue for about a week now; I cannot seem to find a solution? I have tried various roms, wiping and doing a clean install, but the problem continues. Currently using lightening rom 3,2.
Do anyone know what can be causing this battery drain? Is the battery defective??
What apps do you have installed?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
That is quite a drain I can see there. The drain might be caused by having too many widgets or having too many applications open. If you plan to put it on standby, do close those apps that are not important to you.
Have you tried rebooting?
I have a stock lightening rom 3,2. no apps installed, except titanium backup pro and opera mobile. I have frozen all kinds of stuff in titanium to try find the cultprit, but without success. As you see, no apps except andoid OS is running. Same drain on villainrom, lightening. Don't know what can be causing the error. Is there some way to check if the phone or the battery it self is to blame?
Try with screen on - normally I think that should run for 6 hours or so. Using that as a reference, you can check to see if the energy stored in the battery is normal. It doesn't look like your OS is staying overly active to me.
Hi bjorninge,
Every time after you flash a new ROM you should calibrate your battery.
Get the app "battery calibration" from the market and follow instructions and please report back whether you can achieve better performance.

I have a similar issue, as was the same with my captivate. I have stock ROM on my GS2 though, the way I got it out of the box pretty much. Android OS takes up most of the battery usage. I don't know what it is. Widgets updating constantly? The constant syncing from Gmail/push email?
Well that's surprising! Awake and Screen On bar is quite low and totally synchronized, yet 60% drain, now I gotta say it's weird.

Unfortunately, I have the same issue as you've described above. I am running on stock KE2 kernel and the battery drain is quite a lot. The 'Android OS' is always consuming a lot of processor time on standby mode.
This needs to be fixed A.S.A.P.!
Download and install the app BetterBatteryStats from Android section, it is a very useful app which will show what Awaking the device from deep sleep and processes too. For me, it was the damn Latitude stuff going on background and wasn't letting the device to go to deep sleep.
Regards.

Thanks for the tip. I have downloaded the app now. what spesifically should I look for?
You just look under 'Wakelocks' and you will know what apps are causing the Awake, then you could take further steps.
Regards.
Would be great if you could look at the screenshot and tell me if something is wrong. Also, after the battery calibration, I've "only" lost 26% the last 7 hours mostly idling. I don't see anything abnormal in the screenshot I provided :/
Well nothing is wrong imo as everything is very low. You should check those which are using more than 10 mins Wakelock, some seconds doesn't matter actually. And you can post any query further to the original thread of this app, here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Regards.
OK, So I'm now back to 12% battery usage (from 100% to 88%) with 17 hours and 30 mins on battery, which IMO is normal.
What did I do? Well, I removed the battery and put the rest of the phone into the stove for an hour on 50-60 degreed celsius. My 98% android OS usage is gone and the battery works as normal .I also had problems with the phone constantly going into "car mode" which is now gone.
I got some tips around the internet that my issues were all related to moisture on the inside of the phone.
I'm trying to assist a non-technically inclined friend to troubleshoot her battery life issues. She's on a stock JB Vodafone ROM, and she lives a long way away, so me just going to see her and rooting the phone is a no-no.
Her battery dropped from 99% - 47% overnight, with the main culprits being android system, followed by device idle and cell standby quite a long way behind. The phone had wifi and mobile data switched off during this period.
I know android system is an umbrella for all sorts of processes that go on in the background, but since she isn't rooted I can't use Better Battery Stats to drill down and try and find the cause of her wakelocks. She doesn't have many apps installed at all, mainly just what came with the phone.
Is there some general stuff that I can do to try and eliminate any obvious causes of this battery drain? Any suggestions at all would be welcomed

Install gsam from play and let it run over night. Use it to inspect apps, but then toggle the view from battery drain to number of times waking device. Typical culprits are sync with numerous accounts and location services. Google Now has been know to beat up location services. Next install air push detector and remove any apps it detects.
Hope this helps.

When I upgraded my phone to JB i had to charge my phone twice a day, so I decided to do a factory data reset and now my battery life is about 20 hours, I'm installing one by one all the apps that I had and until now I haven't had that problem anymore.
You could tell her to do the same, and let me know if it worked. Good luck!

I had the exact same problem, but on ICS. I figured that Fast Dormancy was the culprit, keeping my phone awake for almost half the time it was out of charger. It solved itself on Jelly Bean, but I read a tip somewhere that might help.
1. Remove battery for about a minute. Re-insert battery.
2. When phone is fully charged, ONLY remove it from charger when screen is on and phone unlocked. If not, then remove battery and start over.
Dont know if this helps, but give it a try. Worth a shot. If not, factory reset is an option. Better Battery Stats is also good for checking wich processes keep the phone awake.

Anyone with some knowledge about the system and their workings (and what caused the battery drain), PLEASE HELP!
Attachment file is screenshots from GSAM, and the help I need is to understand what is causing it, or what would be just as nice is to learn how to stop it.
Basic info
Still .475 firmware
rooted with Vroot
Stamina off, but happens to an extent with but not as severly with Stamina on
I have Greenify installed, but doubt that this is the cause, since it happened before installation too
Only the chinese SU and Google+ disabled by going into system/apps
Here is the flow of what happened.
I Fully charged to 100%, disconnected and went to bed listening to podcasts (Beyond Pod)
I wake up 5 and 1/2 hrs later to find battery down to 15%
I open GSAM, take screenshots of what looks suspicious
I note that App usage is whopping 92%, where the screen is only accounting for 1.1% usage of screen.
Of the 90%+ of power used by apps, close look tells me is 44.7% is Android System, and 41% is Google services
Looking further into these 2 culprits, is where I get lost.
Is it something about wake lock? CPU usage (background)? WifiStateMachine is high up in the list of both Sysytem and Google services?
%numbers tells me that they are something to do with it, but I have no further understanding, thus powerless to prevent or cure.
As the first screenshot will tell u, when things were smooth, I get 15-16 hrs of Batt life
Any suggestions/actions???
If this is any hint, I have no idea, but once I remember seeing in notification bar a notice saying that some app was preventing Stamina mode from going into sleep mode...
It seems I faied to attach screenshots. Here are the missing ones in attachment
Interesting. I also use vroot and 475 kernel workaround to root my 510. Your phone clearly didn't enter deep sleep all that time.. Held awake for 5+ hours, and WiFi is on for almost 5 hours initiated by google service (strange, in my phone google service doesn't initiate WiFi on) but your first screenshot suggests that WiFi is active for only 33 minutes.. Looks like conflicting information.
My ZU also sucks a lot of power when held awake (not as fast as yours though - almost 100% in 5 hour is full screen-on for me; logging gps track with screen off is around 50% down in 4 hours) and the major power drain is the kernel, android service, and google service. Looks like a lot of background processing, but I can't figure out what's the specific cause(s) is..
For those with more proficiency in these things, is there any recommended place in the internet to start deciphering the power usage logs?

Yes, please, anyone?
Just to give update on what has happened since....
Still on .475 HK Firmware.
I have traced back what apps I have installed (in order, un-installed them one by one)
I dont know if the conclusion I reach is correct or not, but results seem to have solved it.
The 2 apps I have rid since are GREENIFY and TITANIUM BACKUP.
My guess is that Greenify was maybe the culprit?
It worked well on my previous device. But Not Z Ultra. Is it because it is SD 800 and it takes different kind of working/updating to fully compliment this SoC, Z ultra being the first out with SD800?
Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Yes, the hibernated apps are not giving notification anymore and gsam battery didn't report any wakelocks in sleep from them. But I can't really say about battery life, though, since in my case, sony's stamina mode is the main factor for battery saving. I treat greenify as a tool to minimizing data footprint.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a good wakelock detector or give me some ideas on what may be killing my battery....out of nowhere, all of a sudden, my battery life sucks, I am rooted, on skydragon rom, this did not happen after installing anything new, just one day noticed my battery was dead by dinner time, and happens almost every day now...

gsam with root companion is pretty popular.
I had problems using with the original 75 degree thermal mod. I had to go back to stock thermal to fix my problems.
I used this for wakelock detection:

It works great, but it did not detect the problem I had (with thermal). I just lucked into finding that solution.
Good luck!

I use BetterBatteryStats to monitor what processes are waking up the phone. And I use Greenify and Amplify (Xposed module) to control wake locks. Can't do much about screen on time, but these significantly increased (went from 2 to 3 days for regular usage) my battery life when I'm not actively using the phone.
When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the LG G6's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I have been on and off mine all day without heavy use due to being at work, and by the time night came without me charging I was around 79%. This is from 5AM to 11PM. But I must admit... I went into the sttings and set EVERYTHING as inactive that I was able to do so and recommend everyone do it. The apps will never turn on or activate unless you manually open one in which case it will then stay active. It's great for apps that do crap in the background which you never use anyway. Oh, and I use Greenify as well, and always keep my tasks clear. So yeah... I'm used to saving battery by habit so my experience is different from most.
My standby time has been brutal... Would not be using my phone for around 1 hr and then id see my battery drop from a 36 to 30.... I closed all apps and even used the smart cleaner to get rid of some.. I dont know whats the problem to be honest. If they can fix the standby drain i could honestly reach for 5 to even 6 hours of screen on time
My standby has been really good, I can leave it off charge overnight and can only go down 2% or so, but once I start using it the % drops heavily after 5 minutes or so. I've got to go through the settings to turn off notifications because I've noticed apps like candy crush giving me notifications

Did you hook your phone up to a computer and use the ADB commands to enable Greenify's aggressive doze? That really helped me, Nougat's built-in doze is still crap compared to Greenify. Also, setting WiFi to inactive while display is off, as well as enabling data saver in data management to restrict mobile background data for all apps helps greatly with wakelocks. Also everyone should consider disabling certain notifications from apps like Maps and Assistant which can create a lot of wakelocks.
I wrote a few tips to help with battery life on Nougat in the G5 section, but it should apply here as well:

Standby time wears on you depending on what apps you got running
?????
I found the culprit. Apparently one of my skin apps was causing wakelocks keeping the phone awake the whole time. Deleted it and installed greenify, will see how things goes
