Hope someone can help.
I have been using the phone for over a week and last night i decided to give it to my girlfriend. So i wiped the data a factory reset it. I have been using the custom firmware. So upon the reboot it didnt boot into android. So then i reflashed the custom firmware in the custom recovery mode but then i lost access to the sd card and ext storage partitions....So i used the flash tool and obtained the original firmware but i get the same problem plus the camera no longer works.
The original firmware i flashed it is: 20120706_e1809c_v77_lx529_x710d2.rar but there is a newer one that i cant find called 20120713-e1809c-v77-lx529-x710d2.zip which im hoping will fix my problem
Any advice...
Looks like i have fixed my issue.
The newer firmware is located here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/43unw3kwgd3ka2d/20120713_e1809c_v77_lx529_x710d2.zip
leaving this here for future reference
I'd like to install this newer firmware you just posted. But what are the differences between the newer one and older one?
Also to install do I just flash it in CWM?
Thanks

If you install the Taiwan101 or this new official rom above, it will come up as Chinese as it did for me but it will auto update language to English at least it did for me.
hope this helps.
I am Uploading both Official and custom roms to my dropbox, I will post link tonight when done.

I need to install Android 6, but I can't seem to find a firmware upgrade that matches my version exactly.
What version is safe to use? I'm completely new to the android world, so I'm completely lost…
The closest I've found is a file named "Honor 5X_Firmware_KIW-L21_Android 6.0.1_EMUI 4.0_C432B330CUSTC432D001_Denmark.zip" but according to the PDF included in it I should only be used with versions:
KIW-L21C432B130CUSTC432D005
KIW-L21C432B130CUSTC432D006
KIW-L21C432B140
KIW-L21C432B300CUSTC432D002
Mine is kiw-l21c432b160.
Is it safe to use this one? Do you have any idea where I might find a suitable .zip if not?
Thanks for the help

Did you try finding your firmware using firmware finder.?
I've given the full build number as it appears on the device (no CUSTxxx) suffix. Should I look somewhere else?
I'll check this firmware finder app once I have the opportunity.

When I go to Settings, update, local install, it is recognized and offers to install it. But then it boots to TWRP and fails to install. I guess I need to use the stock recovery? Any help appreciated...

Yes you need to to flash stock recovery...
Okay... So the closest I've found is this: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=55194
But it's for B140, not B160. Apparently I have a very exotic model. Is it safe to flash or am I stuck here?

Yes, now I'm starting to understand all these version numbers. My end goal is to install LineageOS, but I need MM first.
So now, I've switched back to Huawei eRecovery instead of TWRP, and tried two different firmwares (before B360 because apparently it prevents installing LineageOS), that were "validated with my IMEI". Settings>Update>Local>Reboot, installation starts I'm about to cry tears of joy and then around 15%, installation fails with no further details. I can then shutdown and reboot to my good ol' lollipop. Not sure what to do next...

I still have the same lollipop firmware my device was bought with. I don't think I have US variant. I brought it from (Amazon France)[https://www.amazon.fr/Honor-5X-Smar...d=1508409802&sr=8-2&keywords=huawei+honor+5x] and I am in France. The product title says it is unlocked but I had to do it myself.
I'll try your link as soon as I receive my SD card, because apparently it is required for this method. I still have this file from an older download, but was scared because a PDF file included in it mentioned it should be used with B140 and did not mention B160, but now that I've flashed a stock recovery meant for B140, this doesn't scare me anymore.
Thank you very much for taking the time to help a noob FOSS-enthusiast!

Make sure your phone is in download mode. It's a weird button combination on this phone. Have you got the latest Odin? (Odin3 v3.14.4).

Are you trying to reinstall the firmware?
I've got that exact same board. I've tried many different procedures to try an flash multiple images I have for it, but it seems that the "reset" button inside the A/V port doesn't work for flashing. Also, as soon as I place the SD card in the slot and try to boot to flash, the board won't turn on at all, the SD card slot does work within android though.
I tried so many times and different procedures that I ended up bricking the board. Any ideas on how to short the board so I can get it to connect to my PC and flash it?
These boards use a sd9ds28k-8g chip, which integrates emmc and lpddr3 memory in one chip. Here are some pics.
Thank you in advance!
