For an LG G2 mini with Android 5.0.2. I've tried the following:
* towelroot v3: Error: "This phone isn't currently supported", I've tried the additional codes, such as found here: http://www.naldotech.com/how-to-fix-towelroot-phone-isnt-supported-problem/ (there is no difference using any of the codes)
* ioroot10: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448887 This doesn't do anything. I have the carrier "OPEN", I push the g2_security to /sdcard/g2_security, unplug disable USB debugging, re-enable USB debugging and reconnect, I get a new adb shell, but I'm still just a regular user, nothing has happened. The next step cannot be performed.
* LG One Click Root 1.3 (Graphic UI): Installs successfully (see copy/paste below). But no su binary is installed, nor am I root if I connect by adb.
* LG One Click Root 1.2: Installs successfully (see copy/paste below). But no su binary is installed, nor am I root if I connect by adb.
I have retried all of these, rebooted the phone between attempts, etc.

What should I try next? Any ideas? I don't need a solution that works without a PC, I don't need a fully automated solution either. All I need is something that actually gives me a root adb shell, I can do the rest manually.
Does anyone know of a reliable exploit I can get as just an ELF executable and push to the device and then use that to root it? If not that, then I'm willing to try anything else too.
Try KingRoot, it should work. After you've rooted with it search on how to replace it with SuperSU.

so i put the lgroot.sh file into the notepad and changed some things to get it to fire off as seperate commands. It finally fired them off but I was still unable to access SU... any ideas where I went wrong?

Here is a procedure to root the Curtis Proscan PLT7602G tablet (Build number PLT7602G-ANDROID4.2.2-v1.0.0).
1. Install adb on your computer and enable adb on the tablet. http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html
2. Enable ADB on the tablet:
Settings > About Tablet > tap build number 7 times until it says "You are now a developer!"
Developer options > switch On > OK
Check "USB Debugging" > OK
3. Connect USB and wait for ADB drivers to load on the PC. Using the Google drivers installed with ADB, your system may need manual help to find the right drivers: Go into Windows device manager > Update Driver Software > browse My Computer for driver software > 'Let me pick from a list of devices drivers...' > Pick Android ADB Interface from the model list.
4. You will see a notification "USB Debugging Connected" on the tablet.
5. If this is the first time, you will next see a dialog on the tablet asking "Allow USB debugging?" Check "Always allow from this computer" and click OK.
6. At the command prompt on the computer enter "adb devices". You should see the device listed. If not, reboot the PC and repeat steps 1 through 5 as necessary to get everything working together.

11. Reboot the tablet.

It has been a while since I got this working and I honestly don't remember exactly what I did to make it work.
Try this... install the official Google driver and reboot:

If i still doesn't work, download the adb_usb.ini from here and replace the adb_usb.ini in c:\users\<yourusername>\.android\adb_usb.ini with this one, then reboot and try again. I verified that this adb_usb.ini contains the necessary device ID, so that should definitely do the trick.

I'm glad you got ADB working. Thanks for the additional tips, I'm sure they will be useful to others.
I don't think there is any significant risk of bricking unless you make a horrible mistake, like deleting everything in /system instead of shifting the new file into place. Anything else, like accidentally picking the wrong su binary to install, should be easily recoverable by just rebooting if necessary and then trying again.

There must be something wrong... Anyway my question is. Should I flash a custom rom to free some of the firmware allocated memory ? How is the external card going to be used (can I install app on it) ?

I haven't found any custom ROMs for this tablet. If you know of some, please speak up. You could try reflashing the original ROM but that might be overkill. You can use an app like DiskUsage to help you identify what's eating the most space.

Well, I apologize for being an idiot. That's what I get for trying to document a root procedure I did last year, from memory. I have several similar cheap tablets and I misremembered this one as being pre-rooted as I described.
I just re-flashed from stock and re-rooted it. Fortunately, I had left enough breadcrumbs on my computer that I was able to reconstruct the right procedure.
I will do another full run-through within the next few days as soon as I have some time, to make sure I have everything 100% straight, and will clean this up to update the OP. Meanwhile, if you're feeling brave, here's the notes I took as I did it:
Settings > About Tablet > tap build number until it says you are a developer
Developer options > switch On > OK
USB Debugging > OK
Connect USB
see "USB Debugging Connected" notification
Wait for "Allow USB debugging?" dialog, check "Always allow from this computer" and click OK
adb devices
Download pwn.zip here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53407127
Unzip "pwn" from the zip file to your windows current directory
adb push pwn /data/local/tmp/pwn
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/pwn
adb shell /data/local/tmp/pwn
Hear USB disconnect sound
Wait about 1 minute (may or may not need to disconnect and reconnect USB cable)
adb wait-for-device

su (should give a root shell)

Install SuperSU from Play Store

Reboot

Great, I'm glad it worked for you!
The pwn exploit will work with many JellyBean devices. Many of the cheap Chinese tablets don't even need it though, as they will either give you a root prompt immediately when you connect using ADB, or after entering "su" to ADB. The trick then is just to use that access to install an "su" from SuperSU or another full SU package, so that you get full root from the user interface as well as from ADB. You could still use the pwn method on such a device, but I personally prefer to use the least invasive method to get the required access.

Sorry if this is a newb question but can this be done if your microusb port is broken? I can get the file on the tablet via sd card but I can't seem to perform the steps with Terminal Emulator like I had hoped. This is using the same ProScan PLT7602G as in the OP.

I don't think it will work in a terminal emulator because you need to run with uid 2000 (shell) for permission on the /data/local/tmp directory.

To Root Your Device, All you have to do is enable developer options/mode by tapping on your build number multiple times. Then navigate to Developer Options and make sure you enable USB Debugging or else your PC wont recognize the tablet. Make sure that you have Installed the proper ADB drivers for your device and its Drivers.
Requirements and conditions:
1-Make sure that your computer is not connected to other Android devices
2-Make sure that you have installed the ADB drivers for S8-50 tablet
3-Make sure that the machine is turned on USB debugging
4-Connect the device to your computer via USB
5-Download the below attached file, extract it, and run the program
6-If all the conditions and requirements are met, after working program closes automatically, the device will reboot automatically and will appear on the unit program SuperSU .

EDIT: This method indeed does work on the S8-50F variant. Was having problems with device staying in adb while running program, but a reboot of pc fixed that and gained root effortlessly. THanks!

If youre using windows, download a program called 7-zip and downoad the file. right click the root software and click extract here. or open with 7-zip. You could also use winrar. The format of the file is in .7z right ? that means search up http://www.7-zip.org/

Thanks both of you. I ended up returning it, root and all, but I'm sure your suggestion would have worked.
After rooting, has there been anything anybody's been able to do about battery life? I don't imagine there's been any Roms built for this device yet, but didn't know if maybe someone's figured out something that's helped extend their battery life, because when playing certain games like clash of clans for instance, I'm lucky to get an hour and a half of game play, and that's with my brightness turned all the way down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is a very easy and usefull root instruction, i rooted my tab s8-50f with no problems.
I followed the steps described and got instant root without any issues.
My machin is windows pc with windows 8.1 pro 32bit. Plug your tab and windows recognized the drivers just make sure your device mngr shows lenovo s850 and you are all set. Then just run the flash tool and it will run in less than a minute your tablet will reboot and your tab will be rooted.
Yes this is probably the easiest I've ever rooted any device in the past. If at first it doesn't take, don't worry it will. Just repeat the process till it does. Thanks Hash.h for putting up this thread and passing along the info

Where can I download the ADB drivers for S8-50 from?
I think drivers come with tablet. Try to connect the tablet and it will show CD drive on which is the driver.

I followed this with no luck. I have adb installed and running "adb devices" shows the tab connected, but when I run the tool "error: device offline" scrolls repeatedly and no root.
Any suggestions?

Tried on another computer and succeeded.
This worked brilliantly...
but then I upgraded my firmware using the in-built system and it de-rooted. Now the exe no longer works.
New firmware is S8-50F_S000200_150121_ROW
Exe -appears- to run well, but appears to fail on the last command. Unfortunately it disappears off the screen before I can check the exact nature of the error. It appears to go fine until the final attempt to copy the SU binary into place fails with a 'File not found' error.
I've also tried the other method here:

Same problem here. Lost root after the last update and now I can't get either root method to work.
I have large, non-graphical application that I want to run on my N9. I have successfully built the application using ndk-build, and I can 'adb push' the binary to the N9. However, with 'adb shell' I am unable to figure out the magic incantation to make the binary executable and run it.
My N9 is unlocked, and has the chainfire superSU; and I installed SElinuxModeChanger, but I have been beating my head against the N9 all day: "./foo: no permission".
Any suggestions?

My tablet is soft bricked so i want to apply update from ADB but it keep saying "E: Failed to open driver control. Permission denied"
My tablet is: Lenovo TB-X605F
I tried everything to repair this tablet but nothing work

Do you have a custom recovery installed to sideload a stock/custom ROM flash able zip? You won't be able to use stock recovery for flashing. Usually ADB isn't accessable unless set in the default.prop file

What ADB subcommand returns that error?
Typically "Permission Denied" is returned when a subcommand gets invoked that only works on a R/W-mounted device or requires ROOT.

In recovery menu, i select "apply update from ADB"
Beforce i connect my tablet to my pc it's say "E: failed to open driver control. Permission denied" Stopping adb
And my tablet is not recognized in adv devices

That's NOT an ADB subcommand, but an option offered by your tablet's Recovery Menu.
Take note that ADB consists of three components
A client, which runs on your desktop computer
A server, which runs as a background process on your desktop machine. It manages communication between the client and the daemon running on the Android-powered device
A daemon, which runs as a background process on the Android device. FYI: That automatically gets started when device boots up if enabled in Android's system settings - keyword: system file named build.prop, there settings ro.secure=0 & ro.debuggable=1.
My advice: Download from Lenovo's website the USB-driver that matches your tablet and install it: never use any other USB-driver !

By the way, my tablet can have a microSD , can i put a zip in the microSD and flash it ? ??

Yes, but stock recovery may fail unless it accepts test-key signed zips. If not then you'll need a custom recovery that allows to do so or to disable a signature check
That or if your bootloader is unlocked you can modify the recovery file to replace /res/keys with a test-key one and use stock recovery to flash test-signed files

Using ADB sideload, you can easily sideload any signed and/or unsigned ROM and any signed and/or unsigned MOD zip files: no need for any external SD-card. IMHO that's the most convenient method.
