Scishion V88 PRO - update? - Android Stick & Console AMLogic based Computers

hello folks!
i bought this box: http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_434477.html .
unfortunaly i didnt check on youtube, or i would have found this video, which explains my problems with the box quite well(crappy wifi and the playstore didnt work): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz8e5LbhUlA
then i searched on the net and it seems there is a update avaible: https://androidtvbox.eu/new-firmware-scishion-v88-pro-tv-box-amlogic-s905x-20160830-release/ (the article contains a link to mega.nz where the update is hosted)
when i try to update with the zip file through "update&backup), my box rebooting to try flashing but i got a error message: "cant find volume /misc" and update fails.
how can i update my box? i dont have a windows pc in reach
thank you very much!

UP!
I have the exact same problem...
Also the current firmware feels really slow!! I checked CPUZ and the min cpu speed is 100mhz with single core

There's a custom rom for the V88 pro over at freaktab,You could give that a go.
http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-support/amlogic-based-tv-players/s905x/others-aml-s905x/firmware-roms-tools-bx/603689-scooters-v88-pro-port

I know this topic is 4 months old but I just bought this device 2 1/2 months ago and have been doing some testing on it with the custom firmware at freaktab and with the stock firmware. It seems the device is stuck in single core mode and only using a maximum of 1GHz which is why we experience such slow speeds on the device. Wifi is indeed crappy it has 802.11 A/B/G/N except it doesn't support dual band wifi and only has a 2.4GHz radio. Here are 2 apk files I use on the device the first one being a version of the play store that actually works http://www.mediafire.com/file/8sljr...00_minAPI14(240,320,480dpi)_apkmirror.com.apk
the second file is for hardware keyboards http://www.mediafire.com/file/eqjmr585u89cr22/com.apedroid.hwkeyboardhelper.65.apk , I use a Logitech K360 Keyboard and M317 mouse with the device and the keyboard helper is so you can customize the keys on your keyboard in-case android is interpreting the wrong action for the key that was pressed for example the play/pause media button was acting as a home button with the native android settings once I customized the key to be a media play/pause key the key then acted as it should.
If anyone has any ideas on how we can actually enable the kernel for this device to use all 4 cores it would be greatly appreciated. I was able to get the second core turned on using Kernel Aduitor but it only stays on sometimes I was also able to get the device to perform at 1GHz to 1.8GHz by using kernel aduitor's cpu governor options.

Operating Cores V88 Pro
Hi Bloodsaw
Any further updates regarding cores

Wake device by tapping touchscreen

Hi,
I'm currently building an internet radio with an android tablet.
How can I configure my tablet to wake up by tapping the touchscreen?
EDIT:
For Nexus 4 there are Kernel mods to get this feature.
As I have a very exotic tablet with Rockchip SoC I believe this is not usable for me.
Is there another way via an App oder some change in config files?
Another idea I found is to let the device always on and just dimming the display. I think this is a not so good idea.

7" Noria Case/Skin
Thank you for the information about the NORIA 7" tablet. Has anyone found either a case or a skin for it? I would prefer a skin that has the openings on the side and top to access the switches and ports. So far I have not found anything designed for it. Anyone else having any luck with this?

Root? or install Cyanogen?
Picked up a Chromo Inc. Noria 7" tablet for cheap (android settings say it is Model ZX-X15)... Has anyone had success rooting this device, or changing the OS from stock Android 4.1.1 to something else like Cyanogen?
I would like to root so I can try to prevent the device from running cell standby (I will not be using a 3G dongle that it requires for this, and airplane mode doesn't stop it. Cell Standby is using ~75% of battery each charge right now!)
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I have the exact same model, the ZX-Z15. Got it for $59 so I figured why NOT get it?
I've been looking around the internet and so far nothing specific for this device. Searching is what eventually led me here.
I installed ES Task Manager and ES File Explorer. Based on the power optimizer tab in Task Manager it says that my 3g/2g is closed or off. However, battery status still shows cell standby as using 76% of the battery. Within the File Explorer there is an option to "Root Explore" but when I try to turn it on I get an error "Sorry test failed. This feature cannot run on your device." When viewing my folder structure there is a root folder but it claims to be empty.
That is as far as I have made it at this point. If I make any progress I will report back here. I'm new to this though so I don't expect I'll do a whole lot other than follow someone else's instructions.
Let me know when you find a solution to this as well. I'm contacting Cyanogen too.
I wanted to see when Cyanogen will have a mod for this tablet as well.

I too bought 2 of these for my girls. So far they are pretty good, but I was also wondering about rooting. Also when viewing the apps that are loaded, you do not get an option to change the view type (customizable grid, alphabetical grid or alphabetical list). So now the apps are just listed randomly. My kids may not care, but its driving me crazy not being able to set it alphabetically...
+1 love to find a ROM for this.
Root Noria and disable Cell Standby

i was able to root my Noria running 4.1.1 with this method using mode 1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
and then to disable cell standby install 'root browser' and either delete or rename 'phone.apk' and 'telephonyprovider.apk' located at home>system>app. go into batter info under settings and check how long cell standby had been on. refresh and look again. if the time hasn't changed you have successfully disabled it.

the link didn't work for me either but i think i fixed it. if not just type it into the address bar with the same format as this thread with the changed thread number.
and as far as 4.2 im not sure if that root will work but i found it just by searching google for 'generic android tablet root'

i didn't need to install any drivers. i did have motorola drivers already installed though. you need to put the tablet in mass storage mode if i remember correctly. just plug it in. run the application then switch to mass storage mode and it should start working.

I have rooted my Chromo Inc., Infotmic Noria ZX-X15 just today(1/17/2014). I used a rooting program called Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v33. It worked great as I checked my device was rooted with Root checker and sure enough it is. I also have a case on mine with a keyboard. This may be overload but it works great as I'm a full time college student. You can successfully root your device with that program. I have uploaded the attachment for you. I went with the normal version. Just try it out and you shall be successful. If you need any more help let me know man. I am currently in the process of trying to flash a custom recovery onto mine. I have this tablet but is stuck in the android 4.2 logo, I've tried VOL+ & POWER and the others combinations and it does not show any menu, if I press POWER and VOL+ and/or VOL- the tablet wont turn on, I have to press first the POWER button wait like 4sec press VOL+ before the Chrono Inc logo appears but no recovery menu
I have tried many apps like:
With the tablet turned off, press VOL+ and conect the USB cable to the PC(PhoenixUSBPro detect the tablet)
PhoenixSuit(this does not detect the tablet)
LiveSuite(asks for .IMG file, but in this site there are no .IMG files, only .FW files)
PhoenixUSBPro (detect the tablet but asks for a .KEY file and .IMG file and I dont know where to get these files)
Also if I let the tablet be stuck in the android 4.2 logo I can: adb devices, and abd detects the tablet, I tested with: adb reboot recovery, but restarts and nothing happens
So the tablet is dead? I think that with PhoenixUSBPro I have hope.. at least it detects the tablet... but like I said.. where I can get the .KEY and .IMG files?
Also I dont get the firmware for the processor: Actions 7013¿?
Has someone here the stock rom of this tablet?
Anyone useing a custom recovery on this device? I got the 292d6 version i believe
Do you still have this "brick"? I know how to flash 4.3 on it...

Cool.
you need the IUW flashing tool : HERE
AND
the firmware .ius : HERE
1.) extract - iuw-EN-_2012_beta_20121016.rar
2.) within the extracted folder install first the two following pre-requisite before launching IUW.
- dotnetfx.exe
- vcredist_x86.exe
3.) launch IUW.exe
You should have now in front of you the flashing tool. (keep that open)
NOW
the way these tablets are updated is via sd card. This flashing tool actualy BURN a self boot firmware on a Micro SD card.
Therefor you need to have a Micro SD card (no bigger then 2Gb) AND a card reader.
connect your card in the card reader to your computer.
4.) On the IUW tool click on "file" >OPEN and select 4.3 fixed.ius
wait until the .ius file upload and you will have listed on the tool all it's components.
5.) Normalize your SD card using the tool option .
... the IUW tool bring up a box where you can select what drive you burning on. Make sure you choose the one your SD card is on
6.) Burn disk...
Note:
For some reason on my pc at times the tool comes up with a box saying disk burn FAILED. but if I close it the disk burn process continues and completes with success!
Once you get message SUCCESS!
put the micro SD card on your tablet turned OFF. and press and hold the power button for 10 sec.
The firmware will self install and the message will show when completed " remove SD card and reboot"
once you remove the card the tablet will reboot to a fully working android 4.3 rom.
DONE.

I have the same issue with my headset. Hope someone will find a solution soon.
I too have same problem!!
Whats wrong with samsung!!, sometime Wifi problem and sometime bluetooth.:silly::silly:
earlier I was on 4.1.2 and it was working good with my jabra clipper bluetooth headset, after updating to 4.4.2 it sucks!.
according to my observation,
The OS is trying to save battery by limiting the bluetooth signal strength!, and the same problem with wifi also.:silly:
Looking for a workaround. If i find any will post for sure.
I have the same issue with my Note 2 after update to 4.4.2..
It seems to be a distance problem with my headset, every distance more than 50 cm creates
sound break up´s .. In my car the phone has a fixed place, it happens too, but not this much.
Maybe it is caused by a lower power managment for BT after update ?!
Found some others having the same issue e.g. here
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...nge-extremely-dropped-after-4-4-2-update.html

Hi
and have the same problem with the bluetooth, the phone in my pocket, Samsung headphones on the head and lose the music signal, conclusion .... android version
Before to upgrade I had 4.3 and works very well and now I upgraded to 4.4.2 my Note 2 with Phantom_V7.0 and work awesome but has a minus....... the bluetooth signal gets lost and it's not about the power, for ex i have battery with 4200 mAh
I will continue to keep looking this problem and I will return
There is no way to get better connection. The only way is using a 4.3 ROM
Seems like the problem is solved.
Hey guys!
It seems to me I’ve found the solution!
But firstly, a few words about the problems I’ve got…
I have Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and, when I decided to replace my old Plantronics Discovery 975 with their Voyager Edge, it had installed Android 4.3.
Both events, start using the new Bluetooth devise and upgrading to KitKat (4.4.2) occurred almost simultaneously, so it was pretty difficult to recognize what was the source of the problems that I run into – hardware/firmware issues of Voyager Edge or KitKat’s quirks. The problems were the following:
- Poor Bluetooth connection that resulted in distorted sound (not always, but often) thru the headset.
- Regularly losing the ability to use various Edge’s features, such as calling back to the last number, checking the battery status, recognizing who's calling, etc.
- Note’s battery drained badly – instead of 50-60% left at the end of the day, I got 10%...
I spoke several times with Plantronics support, but they ended advising me to replace the headset. I have neither found the specific solution in the internet and it was even reported that the factory reset would hardly help. So, that was almost the dead-end. But there was one pretty weird solution that helped to some people – deleting the duplicates in the phone’s contact list. But, since I had NO duplicates, it didn’t seem to be helpful. But then, I noticed one very strange detail – during the moments when Edge worked properly it correctly pronounced the names from my phone book, even tho some of them were quite unusual for English speaking "robot". All of them, but one – my mother’s record, which was a simple “Mom”, but when she called me, the Edge’s notification was definitely not “calling from mom”…
So, I just renamed “mom” to “mother”!
Guys, can you believe that, but ALL the problems (both phone’s and headset’s) have just gone! I’ve been using it for almost a week already and it’s OK. So, you may check your contact list, whether it sounds correctly.
Well, one issue left – weird/funny bug of the Edge’s firmware – start playing music when you take it off the cradle. (2 latest firmware updates didn’t cure that…). I just long press the voice button on the Edge to pause it. Not a big deal, to be honest.
Oh, just one last note – since Voyager Edge cannot be rebooted you can do the following if/when you neither hear the music (!), nor the report that the headset is connected when you take it off the cradle. Just long press the Call button on the headset (in my case it runs Note’s S-voice) and then everything works just fine. (Checked twice.)
Hope that this will help you too.
Cheers,
Max

Hi Harvey,
Absolutely the same reaction was mine, when I read the comment by dawolverune (see page 1 of this thread). How deleting duplicate contacts might help…
Well, if assume that I tell the truth (and I actually do! ), then the solution may be explained in 2 ways: a) logical – I’ve been hammering with all this stuff for almost a week and nothing helped until I renamed that single contact and then, it just start working and b) technical – since Voyager Edge pronounced the wrong name it means that it took it from somewhere, but definitely from the wrong place and this might require extra “efforts” from the Bluetooth receiver/transmitter, etc. This indeed may result in abnormal behavior of the devise and “eating” the battery. If re-phrase the title of S. Coppola’s movie – here we had “Lost in Bluetooth” case.
Cheers,
Max

SOLUTION OF BLUETOOTH DROPPING after 4.4.2 update
Yo !
I found the solution. No one has to downgrade Note 2 (N7100) to Jelly-bean in order to fix the Bluetooth range and WiFi dropping issue.
The fault is with the latest update from Samsung itself, May be it is a tactic to make people shift to the newer phones.(who knows) !
Anyway the solution to this problem is to Flash it with Odin it a previous release of 4.4.2.
In my case which is from the INU (India) region the release of August that is 29.08.2014 is a faulty update.
So i downloaded the older one and flashed it.. then everything worked perfectly as if the phone was new
Here is how to do it:- [BACKUP YOUR PHONE WITH KIES 3]
1. Check your version from *#1234#, Compare the version with Near August version of your Region. If it is same you better change it to get a way better performance.
2. Look up the earlier ROM version released from samsung-updated .com , http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-N7100&details=Galaxy_Note_2__International , I personally flashed it with the first version of Kit-Kat that came for note 2 in INU region. on the 8th April (08.04.2014).
3. Download ODIN http://www.mediafire.com/download/mbvtjub21ehsxrl/Note+2+Odin.zip
4. Install Samsung USB drivers http://www.mediafire.com/download/9qaqkld45387lzi/Skyrocket_GSII_ADB_Drivers.zip
[IF THE LINKS DON'T WORK then GOOGLE THEM AND INSTALL]
5. Power off your Samsung Note 2.
6. Hold Volume Down, Power, and Home Buttons at the same time. You will enter the ODIN DOWNLOAD MODE on your phone.
7. Press Volume up to Continue. It will Show "Downloading" "do not power off"
8. Connect your device to the PC where you have put ODIN and the md5 file (Firmware you want to flash with)
9. It will show connected to your device name on the top left of ODIN which means that it recognizes your device.
Click on PDA and select the firmware that u downloaded to flash Note 2 with.
It will lag for a few seconds but let it take its time.
When it is done. [Refer Image attached]
10. Press Start [It will take around 5 minutes, 3 minutes give or take]
11. It will Automatically Reboot your phone. Do not disconnect the USB cable.
After the boot is Complete ODIN will show a PASS on the left Side. Which means that the Flashing Process has been a Success.
If it shows fail then Repeat the process from STEP 6 all the way till STEP 11.
{ RECOVERY STEPS:- this will wipe all your data}
[Also, If device is Stuck at setup connection or on any other process, then disconnect your Note 2 from PC, close Odin, remove phone’s battery and put it back inside AFTER 5 seconds, press Volume up, Home key and Power key at the same time, When the Logo comes then Leave the Power button but keep pressing the other 2. Wait for it to show MANUAL MODE. Select Wide Data and Factory reset with Volume down and press power to continue, Then again wipe Cache.
Select Reboot . Now it should work perfectly.
CAUTION :- DO THIS AT UR OWN RISK.
Is this problem appears in official update? Want to update, but dont want any probs)
Yes the problem is with the official update. Better not update it till there is another update of it available.
I'm thinking this might have to do with Samsung dropping the Bluetooth version from 4.0 back to 2.0. I have no idea why they would do that but I've been wondering why my phone listed version 2.0 when the specs for this phone always said version 4.0. As you can see my debug screen shows it as version 2 and not 4.0. My Edge shows 4.0 on that same screen. I can't recall if older builds for the Note 2 had 4.0 listed but I believe they did and kitkat lowered it. Guess that's their trick to get people to upgrade, break things on our phones quietly...

Review - Leelbox Q2 TV Box android 6.0/2G/8G/64Bits/Amlogic S905X

I noticed there weren't many posts on Leelboxes on XDA so I'll provide some quick input for anyone who may search for a review or want to ask questions.
Recently I bought a Q2 on Amazon and finally set it up last night.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N63M03X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Opening the box/contents
-The box had some wear on it but overall in decent shape
+Comes with power cable, hdmi, remote (no batteries)
-The box had a fairly strong plastic/soldering smell and ins't very appealing visually
Setup
- Plugging in the power starts up the device so I had everything (HDMI, mouse/keyboard) already plugged in/No physical power button
++ Quick boot up and short animation screen
-/+ Decent launcher screen probably depends on preference
-/+ Needed to adjust the screen area down to 90% as it was displaying outside of my viewing area
- Remote sluggish
+ Wireless USB keyboard and mouse are plug and play
- Still haven't figured out how to turn off the on-screen keyboard as the settings menu is device specific
- Playstore and adding Google account FC'd the first time I opened it
Customizing
+++++ Installed SuperSu from Playstore and went through the "normal" non-recovery install process successfully!
+ Installed Leanback Launcher/Google TV v1.14 (newer versions FC) APK from APK mirror and home launcher switcher
++ Kodi and addons preinstalled and setup
-Google Now launcher has icon text issues (words are cut off)
+Installed hidden settings
Performance
+ 5ghz wifi running well
- Some UI lag/stuttering
- App install a little slower than hoped
- Device comes with a memory cleaner button on the provided launcher. Once mem usage hits 80%, stuttering gets annoying. Installed memory cleaner and still evaluating.
+ Video very smooth in Kodi and Youtube
More to come but hope this helps.
How is the leelbox Q2 running? Have you tried miracast with a Windows10 laptop? Looking for a device to primarily do this.

Still running well. Mainly use it for Kodi and YT. I found an older version of Nexus Player launcher that works (except suggestions) and looks better than stock.
One complaint I do have, I couldn't get any emulators to recognize USB gamepads. If you want to do any of that, I'd stay away.
I haven't tried Miracast at all but I will if you're still interested. Let me know.
Hey there... I have a question for you. How's the video playback on your box?? I really this box, especially since it has Bluetooth and there is hardly any lag, however, I have had bad luck with it from the get-go. My video playback is horrible! The screen flickers and goes really dark when the scene is shot at night or it's indoors. Sometimes my tv goes black and if it weren't for the captioning, you'd think it's just off. Then the image perks up when the scene is outside or a really bright shot. It really does a number on my eyes as it's a constant thing. I did reach out to their customer service and they have been responsive and sent over instructions to try and fix this, but that hasn't worked. I even got the box replaced, but the issue persists. I'm thinking maybe it's a setting at this point. Would you happen to know if there is a fix to this or is there anything you would suggest? Thanks in advance!

I haven't tried flashing a new rom for this device yet so I may not be the best to help you. But from what I've read, the USB burning tool is your best bet. From experience, it may be a good idea to try flashing with another computer. Also, re-download the imgs.

Hello! Sorry for the late reply, but I have changed HDMI cables twice and changed ports on the TV. Also, I have used an older TV I have with this box and it just doesn't work. The video just bounces from light to dark when on Netflix or streaming any other type of video including YouTube. I have attempted to play with any settings on the box but nothing changes. Kinda bummed, oh well right?

I read something in another thread where the person created a new ROM for devices LIKE ours. I believe some have used it but can't say if it works. Seems your issue is common:

Hi,
In product description it said this is dual wifi enabled (2.4 and 5Ghz) box. So I installed internet wifi router with 2.4 and 5GHz possibility, and Q2 Pro box pick up just 2.4Ghz signal.
Then I turned off manually 2.4GHz possibility in router and Q2 Pro box didn't see any wifi network, while my LCD and PS4 was connected on 5GHz without problem.
So, my question is, how to enable receiving 5Ghz wifi signal on Q2 Pro box?
Thank you
I've been having some trouble rooting the Q2 Mini Leelbox, wondering is that a different model than the Q2? i am also having an issue changing the default home launcher on my box, it seems like the Zonglauncher that is installed on it wants to be the only proprietary launcher option an because i cant gain root, I can't run effin system app deletion.
I figured kingroot would do it, but it has not been of any help so far. Shoot I've googled Root Leelbox Q2 mini and pretty much theres nothing out there. must not be a very popular box. now that i noticed it is rockchip, i'm a little disappointed with it, might even return it, but it does have 2G/8G for only 43 Dollars on amazon.
did anyone install recovery twrp and Magisk?

It must be a different version. If I recall correctly, I didn't have to install anything to get root. I just ran a root checker and confirmed I was good to go.
I also was able to install any launcher I wanted. But in the end, their launcher was good enough for the apps I use (Kodi, Netflix, HBO Go, Youtube).

No. I don't think there is a TWRP version for this device.
I ended up shipping it back for a refund. Really was quite a pos if I ever did see one. Made me pretty angry tbh, it was a rockchip anyways I mean it did have 2g/8g but certainly performed worse than some 1g/8gs ice bought in the past.
i have the mini
*works fine ..no lag or stuttering
*only problem is weak wifi with no 5ghz support
#im looking for info regarding using a d'link wifi dongle with it to boost wifi
to everyone this box is prerooted
install any app and if it requests root it will be given root automatically without even a toast message
you can enter recovery and factory reset or flash updates or even flash update zips by inserting a needle / pin / toothpick into the headphone jack amd pushing down at which point you will feel the button click...keep the button in then pull out the power cord and put it back in and it will boot to recovery ...you can rename supersu as update.zip amd flash it from sd card to replace root or get root management apk installed ..you can also install supersu apk directly from playstore
you can enable developer settings by usual means by pressing on version number in settings/about
i am looking into solving wifi problem first ...then i will try to flash custom images
my first workaround is to boot Ubuntu from sd card and install opemelec or omc or similar
*reason is amazon prime video fails playback in both apk or browser
*netflix is working fine through apk
*kodi is running smoothly
by installing linux through sd card i will try to get better wifi by wifi dongle and then by getting playback working for amazon video ..if i succeed i will create a thread and a post a link and proceed from there ..i think we might be able to port or flash some other custom firmware too ...i will try it after Ubuntu....

T95Z Plus minor problems: sleep mode, air mouse, navigation bar, reboot, keyboard

Good morning everyone,
i hope you can help me because i don't know where else to ask.
I've bought a T95Z Plus Android 6.0 TV box, branded by Zenoplige, but there are a couple of annoying things that i don't understand and that i can't fix.
01) Sleep mode (standby or hibernation mode)
After less than 30 minutes without using it, the box goes to standby mode: the screen goes black and the device turns itself off, shutting down the front LED.
You have to press the Power button on the original IR remote controller to power it up again, in a couple of seconds.
Is there a way to disable this behaviour? Maybe an application i can install?
I just want my box to be always on.
02) Air mouse and sleep mode
The main problem with sleep mode is that you can only use the original IR remote to wake up the device. I can't use it because my box is into a little TV cabinet.
I'd want to use the Rii MX3 wireless Air Mouse (a Zenoplige branded clone) as my main and only remote: https://www.amazon.com/Rii-Multifunction-Wireless-Keyboard-3-Gsensor/dp/B01CL3ZXGO/
Is there a way to wake up the T95Z Plus using the Air Mouse?
03) Hidden navigation bar
How do i bring up the navigation bar after i hide it?
The bottom navigation bar can be hidden, using the first icon on the left. Is there a way to bring it back up, without having to reboot the T95Z?
04) Reboot or shutdown by menu
Is there a way to reboot or shutdown the T95Z by menu?
Maybe an app that i can install...
05) Change physical keyboard layout
I want to use the Rii MX3 wireless Air Mouse keyboard as my main keyboard but the layout seems to be an US QWERTY.
Can i change it?
I need an european layout for special characters.
06) Custom ROM
I've discovered that on the Freaktab forum there are some custom ROMs for the T95Z, like this Superceleron: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player...s-t95k-pro-t95u-pro-superceleron-v1-final-rom
Do you suggest them?
I don't understand why they would be better than the stock one...
Thank you in advance!
I've managed to fix a couple of those problems by myself.
I have to thank this video, that is a little bit long and a little bit boring but covers every aspect of the configuration of the T95Z Plus Android TV box: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKcgFScCI8M

The box wasn't going to sleep or standby mode.
Simply, when i turned off my TV using the TV IR remote, the box turned itself off too.
I had to completely disable the HDMI CEC in Settings > Preferences > HDMI CEC > CEC Switch > Off.
See there: https://youtu.be/WKcgFScCI8M?t=15m8s
Now i can shutdown the TV without shutting down the T95Z box.
(I can't control the box using my TV remote but the shutdown button is the only thing that's working)
Edit: I had to change settings a little bit because with CEC Switch totally off, the box started to shutdown when i switched my TV to HDMI 1 and back.
So i did set:
- CEC switch: On
- One key play: On
- One key power off: Off
- Auto change language: On
Now it seems ok.
Note: i think you have to reboot the box to really apply those changes, because the last problem emerged after a reboot.
02) Air mouse and sleep mode
The main problem with sleep mode is that you can only use the original IR remote to wake up the device. I can't use it because my box is into a little TV cabinet.

(I've looked at a lot of video reviews and) That's a bug and can't be fixed.
You have to reboot the box to make the navigation bar reappear.
This is fixed in some custom ROMs, like the Superceleron V1 i've already mentioned (http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player...s-t95k-pro-t95u-pro-superceleron-v1-final-rom), that has a fully working disappearing navigation bar.
05) Change physical keyboard layout

I had to manually change the layout of my pysical keyboard.
I went to Settings > More Settings > Personal > Language & Input > and manually set the keyboard layout to "Italian", instead of "Default".
Now the special characters are working well.
I also went to Settings > Keyboard and switched from Android Keyboard to Remote Physical Keyboard.

This is still not so clear to me but i've understood a couple of things:
A) The same T95Z Plus box by different brands
The most common T95Z Plus box is the one manufactured by Sunvell but there are a lot of brands that are re-selling the same T95Z Plus Android box with their own logo: Akaso, Zenoplige, Kekilo, WeChip etc.
They're all the same device.
Only the firmware can change and the wireless chipset.
Mine is a Zenolige with firmware number T5ZP0030.
B) Flash the firmware
Everyone can flash the latest firmware: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player...nvell-t95z-plus-tv-box-amlogic-s912-octa-core
You just have to be sure that you have the right wireless chipset for that firmware, which is not so easy because you have to open your box to discover it.
So, i decided to stay with my official firmware an wait for the OTA upgrade.
C) Custom ROMs
Take a look at the Superceleron V1 custom ROM on the Freaktab forum: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player...s-t95k-pro-t95u-pro-superceleron-v1-final-rom
As far as i've understood, it fixes some minor bugs, like the disappearing navigation bar or the missing "reboot" option, and introduces some improvements in Kodi.
04) Reboot or shutdown by menu
Is there a way to reboot or shutdown the T95Z by menu?

I installed Quick Reboot (Root): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=phongit.quickreboot&hl=it&rdid=phongit.quickreboot

to turn TV off and leave the box on
No, volume down on my T95Z Plus remote does nothing to my TV.
By the way, i've discovered that i also could turn off the HDMI-CEC on my TV. But the settings i'm corrently using seem to work well.
In the end, this box really disappointed me and i sent it back to the seller, asking for a refund.
It has a lot of bugs.
The hardware seems good but the software is a crap.
It reboots itself randomly very often, it freezes, a couple of apps keep crashing.
The video playback is really dark in Kodi and Plex and it's a common bug of Amlogic S912 boxes.
The 5.1 audio has problem, it wasn't working (it was mute) and i had to change some parameters in Plex settings just to make it work.
Kodi crashes if you don't disable the "Amlogic codec" in the settings.
A lot of users have wireless issues, slow speed or no reception.
The keyboard has a bug with the Enter key (and some other annoying little things): http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player...nvell-t95z-plus-wrong-character-from-keyboard
The box still shutdown itself, after some time, and i can't understand the logic. It also wakes up my television, despite the settings i've made on the HDMI-CEC section.
When i turn on my TV, the box ofter reboots itself.
The Zenoplige attached remote mouse is really cheap.
I've also discovered that there are two version of the hardware, the old one and most common with a AP6330 wifi chip (like Sunvell and Akaso) and the new one and less common with LTM8830 wifi chip (like my Zenoplige).
I've discovered what chip i have looking for the wireless MAC address in Settings > Wireless > Advanced and inserting it in an OUI lookup: https://www.wireshark.org/tools/oui-lookup.html ("Shenzhen Netcom Electronics Co" is "Longsys", that is LTM8830 chip, MAC address starting in 84:5d:d7).
There are no full working custstom roms for the new LTM8830 chip.
A lot of people seem to have my same problems and they're trying to fix them using custom ROMs. I have absolutely no desire to do so.
The OTA upgrade isn't working for anyone.
You have to manually flash the firmware upgrade via recovery or via app but it's not clear what firmware you need, because of the differente wifi chip. And firmware upgrade don't fix the mentioned problems.
I'm gonna try the Probox2 Air: https://www.androidboxreviews.co.uk/probox2-air-review/
It has a more modest hardware (fair enough) but it looks much more stable and well working, according to the reviews i've found. It is a six month old device, so any problems should have been discovered so far.
The software looks really nice and clean.
The price is just a little bit higher.
I'm gonna leave here a couple of links that i hope are gonna be useful to the people that bought this box, like me:

WIRELESS CHIP AND BOX VERSION
http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player...pro-t95u-pro-superceleron-v1-final-rom/page14
A bit late now (sorry), but given that we know that these WiFi chipsets are not made by the same company, there is another way to find out without resorting to a physical check:
1) Install WiFi Analyzer app from PlayStore
2) Select Tools --> OUI Lookup
3) Enter your WiFi MAC address (get this from System Network Settings)
This will then lookup the manufacturer of the WiFi chipset, ie. AMPAK for the AP6330 or Longsys for the LTM8830.
--------------------------------------------
T5ZP0009 is a newer build but it is a franken build. Also the wifi chipset can be found by opening the box and looking at the chip. That is actually the easiest way to do it. There are other ways like using a terminal emulator or adb. You have to reboot and immediately run
Code:
dmesg | grep wifi
before the log is overwritten. Somewhere in the output of that command will tell you the wifi driver which will in turn tell you what chipset it is. broadcom is AP6330 and I'm not sure what the other chipset is.

WIRELESS DEAD
Same Problem Here, WIFI Dead, I have the LMT8830 Wifi Chip too
My Initial Firmware was T5ZP0030, I've try many many tings since yesterday and can't get it work..
Well we need to work on this issue and find a solution. I'm here to help fix this.
I read (translate) from a Russian forum that they have a Patch that fix the Wifi problem, but the link is dead.
--------------------------------------------
Before updated firmware please make sure you know exactly what t95Z Plus box you have. there is 2 version. the latest one have the 9377 wifi chip in it and if you don't flash the good firmware you will loose wifi feature.
Seach some post here you will figure easly how to find out. then you will be good to flash with a good source.
if your build is T5ZP000x then you have the normal version
if your build is more like T5ZP003x then you probably have ne newest board
You could open the box too to see what wifi chipset you have.

DARK PLAYBACK 01
http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player...pro-t95u-pro-superceleron-v1-final-rom/page14
I'm hearing that the main gripe with the AMLOGIC S912 boxes is the very dark play back on Kodi (me no exception). There is a well known fix for this, namely disabling acceleration under video in Kodi, then adjusting brightness/contrast, but this also (I believe) disables 4h playback. As my TV is 4k (ergo I'm missing out) my question is whether your firmware update resolves this, or is there a fix in the mix??? if it wasn't for this (which seems to be a very widespread issue) the S912boxes would be great, as all else (with mine at least) works smoothly.

DARK PLAYBACK 02
http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player...vell-t95z-plus-tv-box-amlogic-s912-octa-core/
Hi all,
Short version ==> The screen is very dark after upgrade.
Long version:
As soon as I upgraded 007 the screen has been very dark. The home screen is a bit dark, still navegable though, but it's very annoying when using kodi. It's dark enough to make watching movies very difficult. It's as if the gamma was set way to dark.
I've tried going through all the options and nothing changes it. Currently I've upped the brightness on my screen and played with settings there but the image is washed out.
To be more specific, changing screen resolution, deep color mode, hdr, etc. don't have any effect.
Others have the same problem (in french) but it doesn't seem to be everybody.

Has anyone had this problem here ? Any known workarounds ?
Regards,
-------------------------------------
easy fix open a video with the default player, or download screen adjuster free and brighten it this way what i had to do how ever if you load this http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...inal-rom/page3 the problem is fixed

FIRMWARE FOR LTM8800 WIFI CHIP
http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player...ox-amlogic-s912-octa-core?p=621707#post621707
New Firmware
T95Z PLUS with SoC S912 (06-01-2017)
Not 100% sure the Version look like t5zp0010
Download as ZIP upgrade from HERE
Source: AndroidPC.es
This Rom is only for Models with the LTM8800 WiFI Chip
Hi, I just received this box with LTM8800 wifi chipset and I use Superceleron V1 Final ROM, as you know wifi don't work but I will try to fix it. For me no bugs with the ROM and I use Rii MX3 wireless Air Mouse.
A good thing, I have successfully ported TWRP 3.0.2-0 to it.
You can flash it with Rashr app, boot it on Micro SD with the update app and a dummy update.zip or with the toothpick trick on boot. (rename it to recovery.img)
Download link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...ecovery-twrp-3-0-2-sunvell-t95z-plus-t3557812
A bad thing, there is a problem for restoring System partition on "Superceleron V1 Final ROM" with TWRP, if you do this you will have "Error during restore process.
extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255" and you will not be able to boot. I'm sure that come from the ROM, an other user on Freaktab.com have the problem on the same ported ROM on NEXBOX A1 box: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player...-twrp-for-amlogic-devices?p=623481#post623481
The only way to repair is to flash firmware again with USB Burning Tool. The restore feature works fine with the stock ROM.
I have a little off topic question, I'm registered on Freaktab but no way to post or reply on it, someone can help me in PM?
You see?
There's too damn work to do for a device that should only do a couple of simple tasks!
Flash a ROM, lose your wifi, install a recovery etc etc
That's not my daily driver smartphone, i do not want to spend so much time on a media player!

I found the login without problem, edited my profile to see if something wrong. I can't send private message to members too. Too bad because I can probably help on the forum and release the recovery for members who wait for it since a long time, I sent a message to the Administrator with "contact us" but no answer. I use Gmail to avoid problem with Hotmail like mentioned.
Thank you for your reply

That's the goal, make it better and better. Problems are on the software side and can probably be fixed.
Hardware is good for that cheap device

You're right but i wanted an easy project, something that work out of the box
I've discovered another interesting thing: if you reset to factory default, on the next reboot there will be an OTA update available.
The update is from T5ZP0030 to T5ZP0031.
It's a minor bug fix, it is only 1 Mb and it fixes a wireless bug i haven't experienced: "wifi not work when change language".

I am having this box too and I have extremly problems with the network connection.
WIFI - Works slow and just for a few minutes.
WIRED - Works just a time and then it disconnects.
I am running the build T95ZP0032. I think this is the newest version of the firmware, right?
Can somebody help me pls? Dont want to send it back. I've just got this box two days ago.
As far as i know there is a 0033 version at the moment....i am not sure if i am allowed to link but there is a custom ROM on Freaktab (i believe the developer is MartBios2K). He resolved some issues and also did Supercelon but you will lose led and time display in the progress.
For WiFi try not to use 5Ghz band, it's bad, try to stick to 2.4Ghz
I will try to post the link to latest firmware when i am at my pc

I will try that. Thank you for your information and effort!
Hello guys, i don't remember the details but i've already linked the custom ROM and the custom firmware in my previous posts.
I've also explained the wifi chip problem that ZeroZorro mentioned.
Take a look at those posts
